The Deadline is Right Around the Corner!
Howdy again folks! Tonight's the last night of submissions! We have just a few hours left, and tomorrow we'll be making our choices! Thanks everyone!
Howdy y'all! This is a project that's been in the works for quite a few years now, almost five to be exact, and finally we think it's ready! It's called The Curse of Aishavik, and it's an upcoming animated web series created by the amazin' Anonymixx and the valuable VolcanikToaster. The story is a fun mixed bag of fantasy and adventure, with a bit of comedy and a touch of tragedy. It's set in a fantasy universe in which the earth is slowly growing colder and more frozen without a single clue as to why, and it's up to the main protagonists to figure out the cause and put a stop to it before it's too late. The themes in the beginning will be a bit similar to that of a fun western, as the story first takes place in just a small hick town in the south, but those more carefree, comedic themes will slowly shift into a deeper, more serious tone as the story continues and as the characters develop. The story is aimed at a general audience, though will not shy from mature language or themes from time to time, including depictions of blood, violence, and even cursing at times. But if this all sounds good and interesting to you, well good news! Down below, we have some roles open!
DISCLAIMER: VAs will be paid accordingly to their roles in agreed amounts. The amounts will be determined depending on project's outcome.
Hold it! Let's go over the rules!
Disclaimer: failure to meet any of these rules might dislodge you from the casting call, and lead to us not even considering an audition from you. We need a reliable team and cast, and if you can't follow basic instructions, well…? Well, then we don't want you on our team, I guess. Make sense? Cool. Let's start, then, yeah?
As to meet Discord's TOS, all auditionees are required to be a minimum age of 13 years
Gender doesn't matter, and if you feel you can present a fitting voice, you can audition for any of the listed characters
You can audition for as many characters as you wish, though keep in mind that we'll probably only pick you for one of them, as to avoid any possibility of characters sounding alike
Please do 3 takes of each line
Please send auditions in an organized fashion, with each audition and it's lines being compacted all in one file
Please send files in either an MP3 or WAV format
Using a phone mic or something similar is perfectly fine, and all we ask is that you try and keep background noise and static to an utmost minimum
We'll need a steady stream of communication with all our cast members, and thusly Discord is a mandatory requirement
Improvisation is encouraged, and if you feel you can phrase a line better than it's written as while keeping the same context, feel free to say it as you wish so it sounds more natural
If you don't get a role and we feel that your voice might fit another character, be it one from this casting call or a future one, we might contact you and ask you to audition for them
If you have any questions or need to contact either of us, try sending a message to either of our Discord accounts at VolcanikToaster#3489 or Anonymixx#1636
The deadline is June 6th at 12:00 am EST, but if you might require more time and ask I may permit you a few more days to audition
Howdy again folks! Tonight's the last night of submissions! We have just a few hours left, and tomorrow we'll be making our choices! Thanks everyone!
Mark your calendars, folks! Our casting call now has one month left! So get excited, y'all!
There are now 45 days left of the casting call, which means we're officially at the halfway point! And, with over 300 submissions and counting, we want to give a big thank you to everyone so far!
It's April 5th! You know what that means; we're officially one month in, leaving everyone 61 days left to submit their auditions. With that, good luck everyone!
Kirik - Male/Main Protagonist
Kirik (Key-rick), a stoic, rough and tumble man from Solari, who is the host of a troubling past. He was raised by outlaws, thieves, and even murderers, and the beginning of his life was difficult at best. Most of it was spent on the run, and in his early days he stole many things — both belongings and lives. This lifestyle diluted after meeting Bahari, and after they married and he became the father to two boys. Nowadays he lives the life of a fisherman, and instead of crime his passion now lies astride a beaten down boat, where he dreams of sailing the seas. His voice should be low and bassy, with this hint of youth thrown into the mix. His voice should warp into sounding extra warm when addressing and conversing with his family and friends.
"Me? Well, there's not much to tell. Orphan, raised by rouges and cutthroats. Y'know. A usual childhood."
"Psssh. He'll be fine, Bahari. That's how kids grow. They make mistakes, get hurt, maybe, and they learn. Let him have his fun, I say. Hell, that's how I grew up."
"Son of a-! No. No more bone puns. None. If I hear you say one more, well-? Well… *sigh.* Dammit, I dunno. Can we get 10 minutes of peace and quiet? Can you manage at least that? 10 small, measly minutes?"
Bahari - Female/Supporting Protagonist
Bahari (Ba-har-ee), the wife of Kirik and mother of both Khana and Muharib, is a pretty teal colored woman who loves her family above all else. Despite her seemingly timid and reserved exterior, she's a very protective and in your face sort person, especially when the topic is that of her two sons. Even with that being the case, however, she's not usually one to be very loud or combative. She's very good at keeping her cool and making sure her emotions are in check, and much like Kirik, only really talks when the situation calls for it. Her voice should sound softer and slightly on the mature side.
"Wh-what do you mean "family vacation"? Where are we going?! And who the hel-heck is this homeless man?! He smells like… onions. And soggy garlic."
"Y'know, at first I thought this would be a horrible, stressful mess. But this here? Sailing the seas as a family? Well, pah. Why don't we do this more often?"
"Dumb, stupid Amber… Her and her dumb, stupid face, and her lovely scarf that actually makes her look kind of cute, and her–? Gaaaaaahhhh! I hate her!"
Khana - Male/Supporting Protagonist
Khana (Kah-nah), is a curious and explorative son of Kirik and Bahari who, for the most part, just wants to be included. He’s the nervous, high strung sort, who overthinks and overanalyzes almost everything. He’s more mature and logical than his brother, Muharib, and he calculates his every word and movement thoroughly. He's the opposite of his brother, in that he loves to learn, and that he never acts without a solid plan. His voice should be on the higher side, being that he's just a young boy, with it being clear and free of rasp. His voice should scream "shy and reserved".
"Dad is the coolest guy ever. I wanna be just like him. Strong, and always cool as a cucumber. I know that's dreaming big, and probably won't ever happen, but well… I can at least try, right? "Aim for the moon, even if you miss, you'll land amongst the stars" or whatever."
"Muharib! That was my piece of fish and you know it! You already had 3 and I only had 2! Spit it up! Now! Moooooooommmm, Muharib ate my fish agaaaaaiiin!"
"I wish the part about Marina was longer. Cuz, like, really! She gave us all this cool stuff! Like fish, and plants, and flowers, and animals, and just, everything!"
Muharib - Male/Supporting Protagonist
Muharib (Moo-har-rib), a young lad who's hungry for all manner of things, like adventure, food, fights, action, and beyond. He’s almost always plagued in this overzealous and excitable spirit, and despite his young age he's more brave, and stupid, or both, than most you'll run into. With that being said, he doesn’t typically think much before acting, if at all, and he's often one that winds himself and others down and into a tricky situation that are almost never usually easy to climb out of. His voice, unlike his brother, is eager and a little raspy. Mostly, his only emotions are that of excitement and tiredness.
"So, like, my dad's really awesome. He does all sorts of badass things, like fishing, and hunting, and this one time? I even saw him punch a guy right In the face! Man, I can't wait to grow up and be cool like him!"
"Khana is such a buttface. I mean, like, seriously. Whenever we fight he always whines to mom about me "hurting him" and playing "unfair". What a wuss."
"To be big and strong like my dad you gotta eat big and strong meals! That's why I try to eat whenever I can!"
Crossbone - Male/Supporting Protagonist
Crossbone, whose actual name is Kryss (Chris), is a bizarre character from a broken home, with a passion to become like the father he knows nearly nothing about. He's obsessed with bones, addicted even, and expresses that fact in nearly every way he can, beginning with his cooky, pun infested way of speech, and ending with his general appearance. Despite his loud personality and at times seemingly charismatic way of talking, he's very reserved and sensitive. His voice should sound deep and almost gruff, and snap and almost voice crack when talking of bones/puns.
"Well, hahaha! Bone-jour, bone ami! The names Crossbone, THE ONE AND THE BONELY!"
"You hit me right in the funny bone… then again, ALL OF MY BONES ARE FUNNY BONES! HAHAHAHA!"
"On average there are approximately 206 to 213 bones in a person's body, and me, friendo? Why, hehe… I'VE GOT A PUN FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE OF 'EM!"
Amber - Female/Supporting Protagonist
Amber — the childhood friend of Kirik, and one of the various outlaws who grew up with him. She's the rowdy sort who loves to stir up trouble, and as a result is a wanted felon for more reasons than most can list. Fortunately for her she finds nothing more exciting than getting gone from those who want her got, and has more than mastered the art of hit, run, and escape. So much so that up until just recently she had never once been caught. Nowadays she spends her time behind bars, in a jail cell that's under a close watch. Additionally, she has a beautiful beasty named Cuddles that's been her bestest bud since before she could remember. Before her capture, she and Cuddles would perform and escape from countless crimes. Her voice should be youthful and chipper, and she should almost sound like she's having a constant blast. She's also from a western city of Solari, so naturally, she speaks with a cowboy-like affectation and inflection.
"YEEEEEEEHAAAAAW! Let's open the door and have ourselves a good ol' rodeo, eh Cuddles? Time to lasso up some blue piggies, and have us a hog-killin' time!"
"I remember the ol' days… Heh. Back when it was just me and you, my 3 gator guys, and a gulch-a fish to be got. There was none of this running and gunning, or this law and order up our hoo-haws. Things back then were simple and easy. Shucks, was that ever borin'."
"Bahari better keep that feller of hers close. If she lets her guard down, even for a second, I'll hogtie that hottie an' haul him halfway to Kohigs in an eye's blink!"
Obsidney - Male/Supporting Antagonist
Obsidney is a vengeful man adorned in brown and red, with jet black scales and various bullets replacing some of his teeth. He's a wanted felon, criminal, outlaw, and beyond in every city across Solari, and his bounty is so unbelievably high that if someone were to ever actually bring him in they could probably afford to buy half of the continent, if not even more. The bullets in his mouth are engraved with names and they're reserved to put very specific people down. He travels far and wide across the sandy landscapes of Solari looking for those people, and he'll stop at nothing to see them in the ground. Apparently he's got a history with Kirik, and whatever that history is, it involves Kirik's name being on one of those dreaded bullets. His voice should be as coarse and rough as the very sands he rides across constantly, and his general tone should sound almost charismatic and alluring, with a small, devilish hint of intimidation sprinkled on top.
"15 years… 15 long years… That's how long you put me away, and how LONG you left me to ROT! I will never forget that, and I'll make sure you don't either."
"Oh, what's that? You've got a somethin' to say to your loved ones? A sweet lil' goodbye to yer family 'fore ya go? Ain't that precious… Sure is a shame I don't care."
"There's only two ways this ordeal can go down, pardner… it's either you get down on your knees and make this easy for the both of us… or we go gun to gun and you can get humiliated. Either way, heh! You die, and I get paid. Oh, and I reckon you make yer choice fast now, 'else my gun might make it for yas!"
Gut - Male/Supporting Protagonist
Gut, or "Cap'n Gut, lord, king, and ruler of the seas" as he prefers to be called, is the leader of a merry band of cutthroats known as the "Aishavikings". He's big and burly, and he values strength and savagery above everything else. Having said that, Gut Is usually one to shun his logical side, and as a result, he acts rashly and uses flawed, nonsensical logic to function and solve his problems. He's calculating and wise, and he's by no means stupid, but he's also nowhere near smart. His voice should sound beefy and Macho, and more or less like a stereotypical pirate you'd hear in media.
"So I tells me first mate 'I be knowing of this vast capt'n with a wooden leg named Jones'. My mate asks 'Well, what's the name of his other leg?' Hahahaha! He's dead now. Nobody tells jokes on this ship but me!"
"Yarr! Not just any lizard can put on a hat and call himself a cap'n, y'know! Hahaha! Ye wouldn't know starboard from larboard if it blew down yer poopsail!"
"These be dangerous waters. Best turn back, buckos, a'fore the lot of ye get gutted from bow to stern!"
Vipe - Male/Main Antagonist
A genius amongst idiots, Vipe is the great emperor and king of the Snaek, a descending in numbers race of mostly moronic serpent people. He rules them with an iron fist, and treats all of them like garbage, both physically and metaphorically. He's narcissistic, egotistical, and a vain leader who hoards and hogs all the food and riches of his kingdom all for himself. He doesn't seem to care much if at all for the well being of his people, and cares only to see himself succeed and become more powerful. Despite how horribly he treats them all, his people are loyal to him without a fault, and would all gladly throw away their lives for his cause. This is mostly because they're all very stupid, and lack the proper intelligence to think for themselves. They see him as a form of god or overlord, and they treat and worship him as such. Vipe's voice should sound posh and self-important, with each and every of his words reeking of arrogance and condescension.
"Tell me, hm? Am I not the most magnificent, most impressive creature that you have ever seen? Take care in your answer, for it may be your last!"
"Wh-what?! I don't care about ice cream, you morons! I care about world domination, expanding my empire, and-! Well, then again, you did say pistachio…"
"This world will be mine. The ice and cold will wipe the land free of all those bipedal vermin, where I will then reign supre-! You're not listening to me at all, are you? No, no. It's not your fault. It's mine, for forgetting how unbelievably small that peanut of a brain of yours is…"
Omm - Male/Supporting Antagonist
Omm is a loyal snaek notorious for being a dunce among dunces. He's a fair margin stupider than the rest of his snake brethren. He talks in broken, incomplete english, and he rarely says anything of worth. To make up for his shortcomings in terms of brain power, Omm is a giant compared to the rest of his people. The big lug is almost always seen alongside his good friend and superior, Nomm, and follows him almost everywhere. He operates as Nomm's minion, more or less, and follows his every command. They're nigh inseparable. His voice, generally should be a fun and funky mix of masculine and goofy, with his voice getting very gruff, gravely, and most importantly, loud, when exerting himself.
"King guy say me brain small, and that me stupid and useless. He say that me not even have quarter as smart as Nomm have. But that okay. Me try my best."
"Brain small. Muscles big! Good at make things go smash! Me like break things. Makes Omm feel strong."
"Nomm sneak food out of gold door place all the times. He jerk to me lots, but he share with Omm. Me think that why me big and strong. Nomm is good friend."
Nomm - Male/Supporting Antagonist
Nomm is a peculiar Snaek who has incredibly large fangs when compared to that of the rest of his kind. He serves as Vipe's second in command and he would do anything for his master, no matter how impossible or trying the task may seem. Additionally, Nomm is also surprisingly smart as far as Snaek go. He can follow and understand his lord's direction with ease, and he's more than capable of coming up with strategies and conclusions on his own. Sometimes he'll even go as far as giving his fellow Snaeks orders and commands, and rarely as far as giving them prep talks and directions of his own for them to follow. Still, having said all this, compared to an averagely intelligent person, he's by no means smart. Too long of directions will cause him to drift off and zone out, and too big of words will typically lead to him mentally short-circuiting and getting immediately confused. His voice should be very raspy and in the throat, and he should sound somewhat childish and giddy. Also, thanks to his large teeth, Nomm is unfortunately the host of a funny lisp. Whenever a TH sound or hard S comes up, try to blow a raspberry and blend it into the word's pronunciations.
"Omm, do your pbbbthing! Smash them into bi-! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! NOT OUR GUYS! YOU BIG, FAT, STUPID IDIOT! Can't you do anything right?!"
"Oh, yeah! Use the ice blocks to seal the door and keep the intruders out! Good pbbbbthinking, Omm! …Huh, never pbbbthought I'd ever hear myself saying dat..."
"Sorry boss - my lord - your Highness… Please don't be mad! It was all Omm's fault! He's big and stupid and he's always in the way! We won't fail you next time, promise!"
Aishavik - Male/Supporting Character
The god of cold, winter, and storms, Aishavik (Eye-sha-vik), is a being composed entirely of ice. Just being near him will give you the chills, and touching him will freeze you to the bone. Apparently he once tried to destroy the world. As it stands, he lies dormant in an unknown location underneath the ice sheets of Aisha, and supposedly he has been like this for countless eons. Now the question is "how long will he stay like that?"
"Look at all these pathetic creatures. I bet they've never felt the devastation of an ice age. But it's no matter. After I rain hail the size of meteors upon them, they will forget me never again… Hehehe… ahhh…"
"Hypothermia is a terrible thing, don't you agree, brother? Heh. But nothing would warm my heart more than to see you freeze, and to see you shatter."
"I am sweet as sugar, hard as ice. Hurt me once, and I'll kill you twice. How's that for a word play, fireboy?"
Solaris - Male/Supporting Character
The god of the sun, sky, and stars, Solaris (So-lare-is) has skin like molten metal. He's stiff and solid like steel, and lets off heat hotter than magma, incinerating all that come too close to him. Apparently he was dutied to protect the world. As it stands, he lies dormant in an unknown location underneath the sands of the Solari Desert, and supposedly he has been like this for countless eons. Now the question is "how long will he stay like this?"
"...Okay-okay, pep talk time. Alright-alright, huff... We got this. I got this. Lit like a match, burn like a fire… I've beaten him once before, and that was simple enough, so I'll just… do it again. Yeah, no problem. Give him a good one-two and boom. K. Let's do this."
"The hottest fire meets the coldest ice, huh? Heh. We both know how this is gonna go snowman. Just like the last time, I'm gonna burn hot, and you're gonna melt."
"Really? You're really asking how hot my fire burns?! HAVE YOU EVER SEEN SOMEONE IGNITE ICE?!"
Kirik's Dad - Male/Minor Protagonist
The great Muharik (Moo-har-ick), a grandiose and well known and famous explorer who mysteriously went missing one day after embarking on a vast expedition out into Aisha. As the role's name implies, he's Kirik's father, though unlike his son, Kirik, who acts first and thinks later, Muharik is very cautious and careful with how he goes about things. He's not brave or heroic, and depending on the situation one might even call him squeamish. He's a near polar opposite of his son, with him being much skinnier built and almost shy with how he acts. Also unlike Kirik who couldn't care less, Muharik loves his books and learning about history. His voice should sound intelligent and happy sounding, and it should even more so when he's learning things.
"Uncovering history, wandering into ancient tombs of lost kingdoms, and unveiling mysteries long forgotten. To me? Haha. There's nothing more enjoyable."
"Once you get past all the bugs, cobwebs, and, erm. Skeletons, ancient ruins are beautiful things, which tell of secrets well beyond the imaginations of most."
"My favorite part of exploring? The books. They always have something juicy. Like, example, yeah? I found this tome about this compass that can lead you to the sun. Well ridiculous, I know. But imagine that… What could it even mean? I could only hope to wonder."
Crossbone's Dad - Male/Minor Protagonist
The original Crossbone, and the one and bonely father of "Kryss" Crossbone. He's a famous and greedy archeologist, who one day mysteriously vanished after being invited out on an expedition out to Aisha. Unlike his son who's missing a few cards in his deck, this Crossbone plays with more or less a full deck. He doesn't crack or make constant jokes like his son does, and his voice doesn't jump from one tone to another constantly. Instead, generally, he acts a lot more professional and collected. He's very confident and brave, and knows how to fight if need be. Unlike Kryss who's flimsy and generally emasculated, Crossbone is very muscularly built and stiff standing. His voice should be deep and gruff, and overall he should sound like this mix of a skeleton and a cheesy fantasy hero.
"One might think me a freak for sayin' this, but, umm, well… I think people look much more interestin' dead than alive. Erm, as nothin' but bones, I mean. Seein' each and every piece of the puzzle, imaginin' how they fit into place and would've moved in life. It's an odd profession, one most wouldn't do, but me? I love it."
"Bones show us who we were, and more specifically, what we once were, be them people's bones or fossils of titans long gone. It's a dirty business, diggin' up graves and what not, but hey! Heh! It pays damn well!"
"An expedition into a tomb unknown, packed full of skeletons of an ancient people who's species can't be identified?! Do you even have to ASK?! Count me in!"
Marina - Female/Minor Character
Unlike her brothers, the god of the seas, harvest, and fertility, Marina (Mah-reen-ah), is very mature and composed. She talks very calmly and is very rarely one to lose her composure. She speaks as though each and every word of hers is a lesson, and delivers her sentences in clear and concise ways with very little room to confuse. She is known throughout the world as being kind and generous, and for blessing the world with fish, animals, and depending on who you ask, even all of life itself.
"The waters can be gentle, and the waters can be cruel. They react depending on how they are treated. Give them care, and they will supply the same in return. Mistreat them, however, and you will be dragged below, where you will never rise again."
"Enough of this, brother, please! This anger is flooding your mind and drowning your heart. You must learn to forgive, accept, and move with the tide! Do not be so set in your ways that you sink like a stubborn rock."
"You two have drenched the lands in filth and corruption. I have come to wash it all away."
The Aishavikings - Male/Female/Minor Characters
The Aishavikings (eye-sha-viking) are a mean and cruel assortment of seafaring warriors, who hunt down, kill, and enslave any and all travelers they come across. They're commanded by a fierce monster of a man named "Gut" who acts as their leader, and whose rules are thicker than the very ice they sail. According to him, they and they alone rule the seas, and no one but them have the right to surf its briny blue expanse. Oddly, above all else, these odd brutal bunch of fellows see death as a sense of gateway to something greater, and their whole way of life shapes around a religion that involves them worshiping this great god that'll supposedly one day end the world. Their general shapes, sizes, genders, and so on range from this to that, so their overall voices can sound like anything.
"Our number one mission at the moment is to capture the enemy fleet, and sink them into the snow. We will bring them to dust and ash. We will feast on their corpses, and bathe in their blood, as our god wishes it."
"What kind of a man is our captain…? Erm, well. I've once seen him push his fingers underneath the eye sockets of another man, rip that man's skull straight out of his face, and then beat him to death with it. He then ate the corpse of that then dead man alongside a tall glass of grog. So, haha… you be the judge…"
“We are Aishavik. Through the night, through the day, we sail the seas. We need no woman to tell us what to do, for we have Aishavik, and his storms, as our guides. We will fuck the sea, and any travelers found upon it. Our seed will spread, and grow, throughout the veins of the ocean tides. For we. Are. Aishavik."
The Snaek - Male/Female/Minor Characters
The Snaek, a shadow of a once great race that once upon a time ruled over all of Aisha. Nowadays, instead, in response to their home region's increasingly cold temperatures, they live entirely underground and hidden away from the world. At one point in time the Snaeks were a cunning, intelligent people. They held dominion over Aisha uncontested for countless years, as their slithery bodies and tactics were unmatched. Unfortunately the same can't still be said, as today's Snaeks are, to put it simply, moronic and pathetic in almost every way imaginable. They're a fragment of who and what they once were, being much smaller, stupider, and just generally less competent overall. The voices of the snaeks should be goofy and almost loopy, ranging from high to low, raspy and clear, gruff to gravelly. There should be lots of variety amongst them and their voices, as some are tall, others small.
"Got any sixesss?"
"Oh, ratsss!"
"Whoopsy-doopsiesss!"
Various Extras - Male/Female/Minor Characters
This role is reserved mostly for the background characters and less important appearances that'll only have 1 to a few lines of dialogue. Most of the lines won't be attached to any major characters, and most of the characters that people will be assigned to with this role won't likely be seen again. With that being said, we're looking for people of any voice, gender, etc to audition for this role. "Extra roles" can be anything from a gruff jail warden or murderer to a dainty little girl, so give the lines below a read and do what feels natural.
"Aishavik's alive an' the world's gettin' chilly? Pah! Malarkey! Fake news! Nonsense! Haven't y'all people ever heard of global freezin'? It's real, I swears it!"
"Hehe, hyuck. Now, what did the wheat field say to the farmer when it first saw him in the mornin'? "Oh, hay!""
"Pfff! With a name like Cuddles, it can't be that bad, right? I mean, what's it gonna do? Hug us to death?"
