When the clock strikes midnight, the entire tavern is whisked away somewhere new. Over the course of the show, we follow the tavern’s denizens as they encounter all sorts of danger and eventually uncover the mystery of the building’s origin.

The Titan is an ancient and primordial being, the embodiment of winter and ice; the element of change. The Titan stands hundreds of feet tall and speaks with a deep, rumbling voice.
The Titan is placid and wise, acting as a foil to the main characters who, being humans, are often caught up with such trivial matters as mortality or emotion. Unique among their kind, the Titan looks upon humans with fondness or even kindness, although it doesn’t quite understand them.

TITAN, mild confusion: Little Keeper, did you not tell them of me? // KEEPER: Er, there isn’t really an easy way to explain…you. // TITAN: Hmph.
AMARA: Sorry! Didn’t mean to be rude. I just…your reputation precedes you. // TITAN, dry: So I’ve heard. That’s the thing about stories– powerful as they may be, they can also be venomous, bitter things if told recklessly.
KEEPER, vulnerable: You know how this ends. Every time. In the end, it’s always just me. // TITAN: You don’t know that. Maybe this time it’ll be different. // KEEPER: How can you believe that? // TITAN: I’ve been around far longer than even you. Seasons change, little Keeper. Nothing lasts forever.

$50 USD // 156 words (Episode 10)
NOTE: We are specifically seeking Black talent for this role.
The Captain is a dreaded pirate–although anyone who called her that to her face would find themselves on the bad end of a cutlass. With decades of experience on the sea, she is a woman in her early to late middle age (50-65). She is a fearless leader, harsh when crossed yet compassionate and disciplined with her crew. At some point in the past, she lost her left eye and had it replaced with a sapphire prosthetic…all the better to intimidate her foes with.
The young First Mate is her protege and adoptive daughter, who she has been preparing to one day captain her own vessel.
When the Brass Eagle Tavern appears on her ship, the Captain has to decide what will happen to her unwanted visitors. She is fully aware of the intimidating effect she has on people, and uses it to her advantage when making sure Amara, Ellis, and the Keeper fall into line.

CAPTAIN, looming: I don’t know you, my crew doesn’t know you, and it’s going to be a bitch to try and navigate a ship with a building on it. Do you see my dilemma?
CAPTAIN, humorless: I’m glad you understand. I’m not a woman who makes a habit of repeating herself.
CAPTAIN, a bit tipsy and sentimental (Leaning in): You don’t believe me? Fine. I’ll be sappy, for once. I’ve watched you grow from a scared child into one of the most capable sailors on the sea. Your potential would be wasted here. It’s time to take your cut and seek your fortunes elsewhere. You understand?

The Bosun is the muscular and tattooed right hand of the Captain, responsible for maintaining the ship and enforcing order among its crew. One might mistake him for a brute of few words, but he is sharp as a tack and carries out his orders with brutal efficiency. He obeys the Captain without question as one of her most loyal sailors.
He comes into conflict with the Keeper when he is tasked with getting the man’s secrets out of him, and finds the task more difficult than he expected. Still, they may yet come to an understanding.

BOSUN: Bastard! He bit me! // KEEPER (panting): I told you, I’m not going anywhere– // BOSUN: Shut UP! [Sound of a grunt as the Bosun knocks the Keeper out cold.]
BOSUN: Captain’s word is final. Best show a little respect, and don’t you try anything.
BOSUN, in a rousing battle cry: I’LL BE DAMNED IF I LET ANOTHER UNWANTED PASSENGER ONTO MY SHIP! RAAAAAAHH!

The Navigator is the shrewd and level-headed second officer of the crew. She is responsible for charting the vessel’s course and manning the helm. She and the first mate are close, and share a familiarity the navigator doesn’t often give to the rest of the crew.

NAVIGATOR, quietly awestruck: You…go get the Captain. Now.
NAVIGATOR, yawning: Oh yeah. Back to my hammock for me. You two had best get downstairs before the galley’s picked clean by those seagulls we call a crew.
NAVIGATOR, confirming orders: Ready as well on the helm!
