Project Overview

Hello! Thanks for checking out my Casting Call!

Project Details

Basically, I want to dub the entirety of the Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Zelda: Oracle of Ages manga in that order. I’m in projects for other manga within the series, so I felt like trying a different one on my own.

I am a voice actor myself, therefore I have cast myself as Link since I know I have the range for him. Every other role is open as of now.

Please don’t be afraid of my semi-professional attitude. My main goal with this project is to have fun, meet new people, and bring out the greatest in everyone’s acting ability!

What To Expect

This will be a long-term project, but I don’t plan on spending years on it or leaving it unfinished.

This is also not a paid project, so I apologize for the inconvenience.

I am attending college, so I may not always be actively working on the project due to IRL stuff with college, but I intend on always giving my cast members updates, previews, etc.

There are characters missing from the Casting Call, but that’s because their roles are so minor that I’m planning to give them to certain characters that I cast here (Ex: the Darknut role is automatically Buri, Ralph is automatically the Rival Boy’s friend, etc.). Also, all townspeople, crowds, and animals will be voiced by the people that are cast, hence why they are not on the Casting Call.

I will not cast anyone prior to the deadline and even if I do have someone in particular in mind for a role, I will not start contacting and officially casting people until the deadline.

Feel free to audition for as many characters as you'd like! 

There are lots of emote sounds (Ex: grunts, yells, etc.), so please pay close attention to the scripts as well as the visuals that are there to aid your performance.

If you are cast, I will DM you here on CCC with a link to a Discord server made for the project. If you don’t have Discord and/or don’t want one, I will ask you what way(s) you want to be contacted.

I am willing to voice direct anyone if needed, whether it is group direction or one-on-one.

Project Requirements

Please have a decent enough microphone. USB mics are ok with me because I have one myself (Blue Yeti). I will even accept headset mics as long as there is little to no background noise (I can edit it out if necessary). Please no peaking, puffing, or piking.

Please have a basic understanding of how to voice act. It’s one thing to have the right voice, but it’s another thing to be able to successfully portray a character through acting.

Please be able to commit to a long-term project.

I’m very lenient with deadlines as long as you let me know why you may need an extension so please be responsive and communicate with me.

I’d prefer if you had a Discord, but it’s not necessarily required.

    Thank you to everyone who has auditioned!! Over 200 auditions... I was not expecting so many. This might make casting a challenge. There are so many people I want to work with, but I know I can't have everyone, and I want to thank everyone who took the time to audition for my ambitious little project. It really means a lot to me!

    I should have all the roles cast by sometime tomorrow (December 1st). Some of you may get a role you haven't auditioned for. I apologize for not giving feedback to everyone who has requested it, and I'll be sure to do that while I go back and listen to everyone's auditions as I finalize casting.

    Hey everyone! I'm amazed at just how many auditions have been submitted already! Thanks so much!

    So, there are 10 days until the deadline and I've been looking over everything and keeping people in mind for many of the roles. The thing is, there are some of you who had some fantastic auditions but may or may not get certain roles. So, I have a question for everyone:

    Would you be upset if I cast you as a role you didn't audition for? If I find your voice suits a different character, would it be alright if I cast you as them?

Zelda appears in both manga.

Zelda is the princess of Hyrule, who is known to have prophetic dreams. She has dreams of darkness approaching the realms of Holodrum and Labrynna, and requests that her nursemaid, Impa, goes to these lands to search for the Oracle of Seasons, Din, and the Oracle of Ages, Nayru, and escort them safely to Hyrule.

I would like for Zelda to have a younger-sounding voice, as she appears to be in her early teens just like Link. She is a kind and benevolent ruler with wisdom beyond her years and a deep love towards the people she watches over. I would like for her gentleness to be portrayed through her voice as well.

  • If you are the Chosen Hero, I implore you... Protect the people of Holodrum.

  • Your steadfast courage and unflinching kindness for all living things shone the light and beat back the darkness. Link, I dub you a Hylian soldier. Now and forever you are a defender of the realm and a knight of Hyrule.

  • The Twinrova's ritual to bring back Ganon was incomplete. Only his evil strength has been raised. It's a beast without any intelligence. There's no telling what it will do.

Impa appears in both manga.

Impa is the nursemaid of Princess Zelda, and she was sent to Holodrum and Labrynna to protect the Oracles and safely escort them back to Hyrule. While in Holodrum, she poses as the cook for the travelling troupe of performers that Din is dancing for. When Link and Impa travel to Labrynna to search for Nayru, she is possessed by Veran and is used as a puppet in order for Veran to pass through the sacred barrier and possess the Oracle of Ages.

Impa is very strong and she greatly cares for those around her. She also has a motherly nature, and I would like for that to be reflected in her voice. I want her to sound tough, yet also caring.

Any accent is welcome. Must match the Veran VA’s attitude while possessed. Low to Medium range.

  • Link, why don't you come with us? I want to introduce you to Zelda and show her that birthmark on your left hand.

  • I'm on a mission from Princess Zelda to find a girl named Nayru. She's a friend of Din's, an oracle, too. The oracle of Ages!

Din appears in both manga.

Din is the Oracle of Seasons, who is responsible for regulating the seasons of Holodrum. She is a very talented and famous dancer in Holodrum, and travels with a troupe of performers in order to evade General Onox, who intends to imprison her in order to throw the natural order into chaos.

Din has a very energetic personality and loves to dance. She is also known to be a very caring person and would do anything to help others. I want her energetic personality to be reflected greatly within her voice, which would be a nice contrast to the calm, somewhat timid Nayru.

Any accent is welcome. Medium to High range.

  • This is terrible... The General of Darkness made these marks... Has he come this far? How much barren land does he have to spread before he stops? 

  • Boss! You can't just bully people into doing what you want them to! Link's dream is to become a knight.

Nayru appears in the Oracle of Ages manga.

Nayru is the Oracle of Ages, who possesses the ability to control the flow of time. She can also move freely through time, as well as see the past and, to an extent, the future. In order to protect herself, she created a barrier at the entrance of the forest that could be opened only by those with the mark of the Triforce. When Link removes the stone acting as the barrier to the forest, he and a possessed Impa enter, where Veran then possesses Nayru and travels to the past to alter history for the worst.

She is a singer with one of the finest voices ever heard in Labrynna, so much that humans and animals alike come to hear her sing. She has a somewhat timid personality, but would do whatever she can to help a friend in need. I’d love for her voice to be gentler than Din’s. Also, when she is possessed by Veran, I would like for that to be present in her voice. I want her to sound more evil and more manipulative since it is Veran taking over Nayru’s body.

Onox appears in both manga.

Onox is the General of Darkness, who wishes to ruin the land of Holodrum by capturing the Oracle of Seasons and throw the seasons into chaos. He is recruited by Twinrova and is tasked with lighting the Flame of Destruction through these actions in Holodrum, bringing the resurrection of Ganon one step closer. He succeeds in this task in the end, even after his defeat at the hands of Link, Piyoko, Ricky, and Maple. His true form is that of a dragon.

General Onox is pure evil, mocking the hero and his friends throughout their journey. I envision a deep, brooding voice emanating from this character. One that is very intimidating and mocking.

  • There is no mercy for anyone who gets in my way. Not even a single ant!

  • Do you see? That's the power of the General of Darkness. It saps all manner of power, destroying all life.

Veran appears in the Oracle of Ages manga.

Veran is the Sorceress of Shadows, who has the ability to possess anyone that she wishes. She is recruited by Twinrova and is tasked with lighting the Flame of Sorrow by bringing sorrow to the hearts of everyone in Labrynna. She possesses Impa and tricks Link into revealing where the Oracle of Ages is hiding. She then possesses Nayru and travels back in time to alter history. She manipulates Queen Ambi into building a giant tower, acquiring the name the Black Tower, and promises her great fame throughout history. By the time of her defeat, she managed to succeed in her task, bringing the resurrection of Ganon one step closer. Her true form is that of a giant spider.

Sorceress Veran is very manipulative and won’t let any obstacle stand in her way as she works toward her goal. I’d like for this to be reflected in her voice.

Any accent is welcome. Low to Medium range.

Twinrova appear in both manga.

Twinrova are a pair of Gerudo twin witches, Kotake and Koume. Their ultimate goal is to resurrect Ganon by lighting the Flames of Destruction, Sorrow, and Despair. As Link approaches Onox’s Castle, they disguise themselves as an old woman in order to dissuade Link and his friends. After the Flames of Sorrow and Destruction are lit, they sacrifice themselves to light the Flame of Despair, which causes the resurrection of Ganon to be overall incomplete, as he is brought back as a mindless, raging monster with no intelligence.

Twinrova are very crafty and they mock Link throughout his journey. I want them to sound like two old brooding hags. Here I will link a clip from how they sounded in Ocarina of Time/Majora’s Mask. I want them to sound close to those short voice clips.

Ganon is known as the King of Evil. He is incompletely resurrected by Twinrova, and is a raging, mindless beast that wants nothing but to destroy all and kill all. He is ultimately defeated by Link, Sir Raven, Ralph, and Queen Ambi’s army.

Ganon is a large monster, and during this time is unintelligent yet powerful. I want him to sound like all he wants is to cause destruction, and not the cunning manipulativeness of his past self in previous games. I would like for their to be a roughness to his voice.

Piyoko appears in the Oracle of Seasons manga.

Piyoko is a chick who hatched on Link’s grandparents’ farm. She and Link quickly form a bond, and she follows him to Holodrum. After the Oracle of Seasons has been captured, the slumbering power within Link begins to awaken, and he can hear the animals and the Maku Tree speak, as well as Piyoko. She gives Link advice and is his partner throughout his quest. She is also able to speak with Ricky and Maple. By the end, she appears to have developed feelings for Link and wishes to be reincarnated as a human girl.

Piyoko is optimistic and sweet, and I imagine her with a cute, higher-sounding voice since she is a small chick.

Ricky is a kangaroo, whose most prized possession is his boxing gloves. He faced Blaino in a boxing match, but had lost, and Blaino took his boxing gloves. Ricky asks for Link to get them back for him, so Link faces against Blaino and wins them back. He aids Link on his quest to return the seasons to normal.

Ricky is very excitable, and greatly admires Link for his strength. He is very friendly and would do anything to help his friends. I imagine Ricky having an energetic voice.

Maple is a witch in training, and she doesn’t always have constant effective control over most of her spells. She meets Link, Piyoko and Ricky at the Temple of Seasons while searching for the Rod of Seasons for herself in order to become a better witch. She ends up tagging along after they save her from Medlock, and she helps them defeat General Onox.

Maple is a kind witch despite her selfishness, yet she also loves playing tricks on people with her magic, as seen at the end when she creates a cake to celebrate and has it explode when cut into. I’d like for her to sound somewhat bratty and stuck-up because of her selfishness.

Sir Raven appears in the Oracle of Ages manga.

Sir Raven is a Knight of Hyrule, and Link’s ancestor. He has remained in Labrynna for three years in service to Queen Ambi, and has brought crops from Hyrule to Labrynna. He despises the Black Tower project and figures something is not right. Any resisting worker that is imprisoned by order of the Queen and Nayru (Veran) is freed by Raven and is secretly taken to a hidden village within the woods in order to form a resistance against the Queen. He helps Link on his quest and by the end, comments that Link has surpassed him in every way and that he couldn’t be more proud of his descendant.

Raven is good natured and lives honorably as a knight. He greatly loves and cares for the people and can’t stand the unjustly rule of Queen Ambi under Veran’s command. He is very friendly with the villagers, especially a young girl named Roperi and her family. I want his voice to reflect his kind nature. I usually envision his voice sounding like how I envision the Hero of Time to sound since they have very similar appearances. Linked is the official Japanese VA for OoT Adult Link, but you DON’T have to sound exactly like him. This is just a general idea of what I’m looking for in terms of voice and tone, but I'd prefer a higher range than what is shown.

  • No, battles don't make you great. Those who live by the sword usually die young. They never get to gather experience, travel, and live in the world... That's the way you gain true strength.

Ralph appears in the Oracle of Ages manga.

Ralph is Nayru’s childhood friend and loyal guardian. He is also a direct descendant of Queen Ambi. He constantly butts heads with Link and claiming that he will be the one to save Nayru. He ends up getting stuck in the present without the Harp of Ages until, by a miracle, he found it being sold at a Tokay merchant’s shop after Link was forced to part with it in the past. He helps Link on his quest in the past and, when Veran releases possession of Nayru and moves to Queen Ambi, is willing to heroically sacrifice his existence in order to return the present back to normal. He is stopped from doing so, however, and Veran is defeated.

Ralph is very stubborn and hotheaded, often arguing with Link. I want his voice to reflect that stubbornness. He is briefly possessed by Veran in a short scene, so just like Impa, Nayru, and Queen Ambi, I want Veran's attitude reflected when he's possessed by her.

Any accent is welcome. Must match the Veran VA’s attitude while possessed. Medium to High range.

  • Zelda may be princess of Hyrule and possess mysterious powers, but she sure has a pitiful hero. Heh!

  • [Possessed by Veran] *laughs* Now your plan is doomed! And I win all of history!

  • Don't think I won't, you witch! If you use Queen Ambi to change history, it will be a black mark on all her descendants! As her great-great-great-great grandson, I can't let that happen! And I'm prepared to erase my own existence to prevent it!

Queen Ambi appears in the Oracle of Ages manga.

Queen Ambi is the queen of Labrynna in a time long past. She is the ancestor of Ralph, and lover of the Cap’n. She was known to be a kind and just ruler, but then Veran showed up and easily manipulated her. Ambi agreed to build the Black Tower because Nayru (Veran) promised her that she would be remembered in history forever. Ambi had also another, more personal reason for agreeing to building the tower. She hoped that if it were tall enough, her lover would be able to see it from anywhere in the world and never forget her. Because of her ambition, she was blind to all the suffering the work on the tower had caused. When Ralph and Link return to her with a locket from the Cap’n with a photograph of her, and a message from him saying that he’ll love her for all eternity, she claims that the tower is no longer necessary. This angers Veran, and she possesses Ambi, where work on the tower resumes and Raven’s and Link’s executions are ordered. Veran is later driven out of Ambi’s body by a Mystery Seed, and Ambi is returned to normal, becoming the kind and just ruler once more with history returned to normal.

I want Queen Ambi to sound calm and regal, but more manipulative and more evil when Veran is possessing her, just like Nayru.

  • Waste no time! The tower must go up! Women, children... Everyone must work without rest! Nayru, the Oracle of Ages, has promised me the future!

Cap'n appears in the Oracle of Ages manga.

Cap’n is the leader of a band of pirates. Long ago, he fell in love with Queen Ambi. However, he set sail one day and never came back. He and his crew got trapped in the Sea of Storms and could never get out no matter how much they tried. He allows Link and Ralph on board in the present under the condition that they answer all his questions. He ends up recounting the time he spent with Ambi and how he originally set sail to forget. In the end, he gives Link a locket with her photograph and a message to pass on to her. He also reveals the weakness of Sorceress Veran to Link.

The Cap’n is levelheaded and would not take a life without a just cause. He is very knowledgeable due to reading all these books as he and his crew have been stuck in the Sea of Storms for an unknown amount of time.

Any accent is welcome, but I’d probably prefer a typical pirate accent, though not required. Medium range.

  • What's wrong? Ye look at me like I'm a monster. Don't worry. Pirates we may be, but we don't take a life without a just cause.

  • I'll tell ye what y'want to know if ye first answer all me questions! Ye can't leave until I give the order. Agreed?

  • We were in love, and the world was ours. Until... it ended, and I set to sea to forget. But I could never forget... not her. Yes... I will go back. Set a course for Labrynna!!

Link's Grandpa appears in both manga.

Link’s grandpa insists that Link grows up and becomes a knight. When Link was born, he comments on the mark of the Triforce on his left hand, claiming that Link will become the greatest knight in all of Hyrule. Grandpa takes Link’s training very seriously, as they are both from a long lineage of knights, and is angry at Link when he doesn’t seem to take his training seriously. However, he begins to tear up when he sends Link to Castle Town to take the Knight’s Trial, showing that he is not as cold as he appears to be.

Link’s grandpa is very stubborn and takes his knight’s honor and his loyalty to the king very seriously. I want him to have a rougher voice, as he is very tough on Link.

Any accent is welcome, but I’d prefer that he had a little bit of a southern accent since he and Link’s grandma live on a farm in the countryside. Medium range.

  • He has the mark of the sacred pyramid. He's sure to grow up to be someone important! You'll be the greatest knight in Hyrule! Greater even than me!

  • Sit up straight!! You're always slouching like a rubber tree!

  • How long are you going to stay here lazing about?! You're supposed to be training to be a knight!!

Link's Grandma appears in both manga.

Unlike Link’s grandpa, his grandma insists that Link does what makes him happy, just like his mother wished for him. She is a lot more sympathetic with him and understands that becoming a knight isn’t exactly what he wants in life. She encourages him to try different paths and to be himself.

Given how sweet and encouraging she is, I want her to sound like a typical, sweet grandmother that accepts her grandson for who he is and not for who he should be.

Any accent is welcome, but I’d prefer that she had a little bit of a southern accent since she and Link’s grandpa live on a farm in the countryside. Medium range.

  • Link, you didn't eat any dinner. What's wrong?

  • Even grownups rarely know what they truly want to do. The only way to be sure is to know yourself well. And in order to know yourself, you need lots of life experience. Trying out different paths is the only way to get that.

  • Oh my sweet child... The house will be fine, and so will we. You just live a good life!

Rival Boy appears in the Oracle of Seasons manga.

A boy around Link’s age who is enrolling in the Knight’s Trial. He is from a higher upbringing than Link and looks down upon him for being a country boy. The two quarrel, but the boy tells Link to run away before the guards catch him because he noticed the mark of the Triforce on his hand.

The boy is more stubborn since he is on a higher social status than Link, and I want him to have that snarky tone in his voice.
