Vault 11
Project Overview
What is Vault 11?
Vault 11 is a motion comic based in the Fallout universe created by Bottlecap Comics. It will tell the story of the residents of Vault 11 and the events that lead up to the holotape recording found by the Courier in Fallout: New Vegas. In the story, citizens of Vault 11 were subject to an experiment. They were told they would have to sacrifice one citizen to the vault every year. In the beginning, the original Overseer of the vault would decide who that citizen was. However, after several years, the citizens became angry at one person deciding who would live or die every year. There was a revolt, and the Overseer was sacrificed instead. After this, it was decided that a new Overseer would be elected by popular vote every year, they would serve as Overseer of the vault, and then be sacrificed at the end of the year. This led to power struggles and voting blocs forming. No one wanted to become Overseer, so voting was based around who was the most hated. The most powerful and populated voting bloc would decide who became Overseer. After one woman, Katherine Stone, was forced to perform sexual acts on members of the Justice bloc to save her husband from being elected Overseer, the Justice Bloc nominated her husband anyway. In her anger, she murdered several members of the Justice Bloc, securing her election as the Overseer. Once Overseer, she initiated Overseer Order 745, which handed the job of electing the next Overseer to a computer terminal. The computer would randomly select one citizen per year to act as Overseer. This action led to a breakdown of the power structures in Vault 11. Eventually, riots broke out in the power vacuum that formed, and the majority of the citizens were killed. There were only five survivors of the riots. They agree to band together and refuse to sacrifice anyone else to the vault. Upon doing so, the vault congratulates them for sticking to their morals in the face of an oppressive authority figure. They are then told the vault door will be opened, and they can come and go from the vault at their leisure. After hearing this shocking news, the majority of the survivors decide they cannot live with what they have done, and that no one should know what happened in Vault 11. So, they form a suicide pact. One survivor does not want to die, and believes they should tell the world about what happened. No one else agrees with him, and the suicide pact commences. In the final recording, only four gunshots are heard.
Bottlecap Comic's goal to is to create quality, engaging, and truly memorable pieces of Fallout fan fiction. We hope to fill in what we believe is an important, but missing piece within the Fallout fandom. Comics.
What casting round is this?
Since Vault 11 is a standalone story, this will be the only casting call for it. We are looking for multiple actors. Five will portray the voices from the holotape, one will portray the voice of the vault's intercom system as heard in the game, and five more will be original characters without voice references. While we are hoping to find actors who sound similar to the original recordings from the game, it is not a necessity to match exactly. More important to us is to find actors who can convincingly portray the emotions of these characters. Since they have lived through several traumatic experiences, a stricken with grief and loss, and ultimately decide to die by suicide, these are incredibly complex characters. Please listen to the audio samples provided in the YouTube Links in the character descriptions.
Expectations:
Because this is a paid casting call, high quality audio is expected. Any auditions with excessive background noise, poor quality recording equipment, untreated recording spaces, or generally do not match the requirements for the characters, will be rejected. If chosen, there may opportunities for other paid roles in future stories, so please to treat your audition as such. Actors chosen for the roles will be expected to participate in a live directed recording session. You will record your audio during the session, and send the raw audio file to the director after the session is over. We will likely use Discord for the directing session, but are open to other video chat platforms. We use Discord as our main form of communication, though we are open to other forms of communication (email, CCC messages, etc.) if preferred.
Audition requirements:
Please record and upload your audition as .WAV, 44.1khz, 16bit. Your file should be named "YourName_CharacterName.wav" (for example: NolanNorth_Resident2.wav or TaraStrong_Kate.wav). There is no need to slate your audition. Please record only ONE take of each line. Your audition should be one audio file of all three lines, with some silence between each line. You may audition for more than one character, though we will likely not cast someone for more than one role. Please include your rates in a comment with your audition.

Resident 1 (Voice 5 in the game's holotape log) was voiced by Peter Renaday. Resident 1 takes on a leadership role after the fall of the vault, encouraging people to meet in the rec room to put an end to the vault's experiment. In the end, he is the one to form the (almost) unanimous suicide pact.
(On Intercom) To anyone who is still alive… It’s over...We’re done, no more killing. All of this time we’ve spent, murdering our neighbors, staying up entire nights thinking about who’s going to be elected next as overseer…Who’s going to be sacrificed next to satisfy the vault?
(On intercom) I’m tired of being a guinea pig in this experiment… I just want to die human… If you're still alive, meet me in the recreational room. Let's end this together…
(Speaking to another resident) If there's anyone out there at all, I hope they never have to find out. Ready, Harry?
Harry (Voice 3 in the holotape recording) is a gruff sounding middle aged man. He is in agreement with the suicide pact and offers to die first. He is haunted by the murders and rapes he has committed. He was once a willing and eager member of the Justice Bloc, the most powerful group in Vault 11 before Overseer Order 745 and the fall of the vault. After his fall from power, he had to come to terms with the atrocities he committed to maintain power. After learning that he would not be killed by the vault's computer, he decides he wants to die anyway to end his guilt and suffering.
If we’re going to die...might as well do it with some dignity, I'm tired of killing....
(Whispers) Let’s just leave her here for now...Give her some space.
[After a loud crashing noise] Jesus, what the hell was that!?
Resident 3 (Voice 2 in the holotape) has a southern accent. During the riots that ensued after Overseer Order 745, she locked herself in the bathroom with her sister in an attempt to stay safe. When her sister threatened to open the door and sacrifice her to the vault, a struggle took place, and she killed her sister in self defense. She is found in the bathroom by two other residents after the riot is over. She is shaken by her actions, and decides she does not want to live.
(Shaken)…I- I killed her…She...She was my sister...
So...This is it then... I guess I'm glad I can at least die around friendly faces. A part of me is kinda curious to see what happens when we deny the vault a sacrifice…
[Resident 4 says to you: "Anybody would've done what we did." You respond:]
You ask me, that's exactly the problem. Now let's get on with this.
Resident 4 (Voice 1 in the holotape, and this holotape) has a southern accent and was voiced by Peter Renaday. He is the only survivor who does not wish to die. He instead believes the group should leave Vault 11 and tell the world about what happened as a lesson for others to learn. He is alone in this desire among the survivors.
Harry...Is that you? I never thought I'd see you again… I’m glad you’re alive
Wait...Let me say it...I’ve seen so many atrocities throughout the years, so many dead friends...I want to be the one to do it...To deny the vault what it wants...Just this one time...I’m in control.
Are we really gonna do this? It's open. We could just leave.
Resident 5 (Voice 4 in the holotape) was voiced by Peter Renaday. He singlehandedly killed over 40 people in an attempt to avoid being the next sacrifice, only to learn that a sacrifice was not even required. He wishes to die after learning this, and agrees to the suicide pact.
*Anxiously* Can we please just get this the fuck over with. I’m tired of sitting around.
[He has just learned the details of the vault experiment]
You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me…
(mocking) "A shining example." That's what it called us.
Vault 11's Intercom voice can be heard here. It has the sound of a radio drama narrator from the 1930's. It was meant to be comforting and authoritative. Please do not use any intercom effects in your audition. We will add reverb and whatnot to the final recording. We would like to hear your voice clean.
Good evening vault residence! Vault Tec would like to welcome you to your new home! Now that everyone is settled in, your Overseer would like to personally address all of you. Please proceed to the auditorium.
Congratulations, citizens of Vault 11! You have made the decision not to sacrifice one of your own.
Despite what you were led to believe, the population of Vault 11 is not going to be exterminated for its disobedience. Instead, the mechanism to open the main vault door has now been enabled, and you can come and go at your leisure.
This character is not seen during the story, only heard. The First Overseer was the one who introduced the rules of Vault 11 to the residents when they first entered the vault. For several years, he decided who would be sacrificed to the vault. He died when the citizens of Vault 11 rebelled against his and sacrificed him to the vault instead.
Living here comes at a cost. Every year one of you must be sacrificed to the vault's main frame. If this demand is not met annually, everyone will die.
Wait wait! You don’t have to do this, please!
This character is not seen during the story, only heard. Katherine Stone was a citizen of Vault 11. She was married to Nathan Stone. The Justice Bloc had threatened to nominate her husband Nathan as Overseer if she did not perform sexual favors for them. She agreed to their demands, but the Justice Bloc nominated Nathan anyway. Because of this, Kate murdered several members of the Justice Bloc, including many of those who had raped her. As a result, she was elected Overseer of Vault 11. As Overseer, she instituted Overseer Order 745, which ended the election of Overseers. Instead, Overseers would be chosen by random by a computer terminal. This led to the riots that caused the fall of Vault 11.
Hello everyone, this is your new overseer Katherine Stone speaking.
It’s become abundantly clear that we can no longer rely on elections to fairly decide the next Overseer every year.
These characters are not seen during the story, only heard. There are multiple extras in Vault 11. They are the voices heard in the flashback scenes that set up the story for Vault 11. Each extra has one or two lines.
(yelling) This is ridiculous! The overseer thinks he can just decide who lives and who dies!? I vote we sacrifice him to the vault instead!
If we’re going to live with this system, we must make it fair, for everyone. We'll hold elections for the next Overseer. Whoever is elected will take power, but will also be the next sacrifice for that year.
(Angry) Kate can go burn in hell! The justice bloc still holds majority rule in the vault! It’s time we seize it back!
