NieR: Automata FanDub
Project Overview
NieR: Automata is set in the year 11945 after the events of the original NieRs' ending E. The story revolves around 2 YorHa units 2B and 9S as they drive back the machines to restore mankind to its former glory.
As a quick heads up, I will be voicing 9S.
If you have not played NieR: Automata then i HIGHLY recommend you do or watch cutscnenes before auditioning as its story and themes can be quite heavy hearted.
If you decide to audition you must have clear microphone quality as well as discord to be contacted. As good as an actor you may be, it will be rejected if the sound quality is below standard.
Regardless, have fun and happy auditioning!!

2B is a blade of quiet determination. As a combat android, she does not encourage idle chatter on frivolous subjects and is generally reticent towards others. She also has high respect for the chain of command and rarely questions her orders, unlike her partner. However, 2B occasionally expresses a notably sardonic wit in the face of certain situations and can even be hot-headed at times.
2B is prone to letting her emotionless guise slip in certain situations. As she and 9S become closer, she becomes more sociable and willing to engage in conversation. For example, she humors 9S when he talks about taking her shopping after the war with the Machines has ended and even uses his preferred nickname of 'Nines', though she quickly takes it back. 2B also exhibits thinly-veiled jealousy when 9S agrees to help the Resistance member in the Amnesia side quest, accusing him of falling for her. In the final battle against Adam, she expresses pure rage and raw hatred for the Machine Leader when she witnesses 9S's critical condition, swearing she would kill him.
In numerous moments throughout her adventure, 2B expresses frustration and pain with her true role in relation to 9S, hating the cycle they are locked in. She becomes emotional at having a chance to finally save the 9S she knows from Engels' attack at the beginning of the game but later shows anger at learning that his memory after their initial rendezvous was lost.
Everything that lives is designed to end. We are perpetually trapped in a never-ending spiral of life and death. Is this a curse? Or some kind of punishment? I often think about the god who blessed us with this cryptic puzzle...and wonder if we'll ever get the chance to kill him.
Oh... Nines...
This is YoRHa unit 2B...If anyone is listening to this, there's something I need you to do. If you ever meet up with YoRHa unit 9S...I want him...I mean...I'm sorry. Please just give him the following message: 9S...the time I was able to spend with you...It was like memories of pure light. Thank you...Nine...s...
The calm and composed commander of the YoRHa units and director of the orbital satellite known as the “Bunker”. There is some connection between her and A2.
Despite being called a "hardass" by 9S, it is revealed by Operator 6O that the Commander actually leaves her clothes strewn all over her private quarters and she rarely does maintenance on her body.
Glory to mankind!
What path will you take? It's up to you to decide.
2B....9S....you're being detained under suspicion of virus infection.
Pod 042 and Pod 153 are tasked with carrying out the completion of Project YoRHa once 9S and A2 battle. Choosing either ending will cause the Pods to start the deletion of all Project YoRHa files. But Pod 042 denies the request and questions what they are doing. If the player decides to stop the deletion of the memories, they are introduced to a hacking game. However, if they decide to delete the data, the credits will roll and ending E will not be earned.
In the end, Pod 042 tries to commit suicide. Becoming self-aware of themselves and what they are doing, Pod 042 and Pod 153 start to rebuild the bodies of 2B, 9S and A2. With 2B and 9S lying next to each other and A2 sitting perched on top of a tower.
Alert: Enemy units sighted ahead.
Activation of unit A2 confirmed. Good morning, A2
Pod 042 to player. Please respond to query. You, (make up a PSN/XBL account name for player), faithful player of this title, have lost your life multiple times to make it this far. You have faced crushing hardship, and suffered greatly for it. Do you have an interest in helping the weak?

Report: your affinity with this pod has reached its maximum level. Please note that excessive care is not necessary for combat-based activity. However, this unit has determined that it finds said excessive care most enjoyable.
A2 is initially depicted as mysterious and taciturn. However, it is eventually shown through her interactions with Pod 042 that she possesses an aggressive and fiery personality. She has a propensity towards reckless behavior as she will dive head-long into dangerous situations without consideration for strategic evaluations or her own personal safety. When speaking to others, she tends to be blunt, impatient and foul-mouthed.
After the death of her squadron, her hatred for Machines and desire for their destruction becomes encompassing and defines the rest of her continued existence. However, her self-imposed mission of vengeance also serves as a means to distract her from her inner turmoil and regret as she privately longs to be with her dead comrades.
Despite her rough mannerisms, she is not without compassion. She reluctantly took 2B's life at her request, so that she would not suffer through the agony and insanity of the logic-virus deteriorating her mind. She allowed Pascal to live in spite of her virulent hatred for Machines when she realized that he was docile. She later assisted him by protecting the Machine children at the Abandoned Factory. She also expressed sadness over the death of the Machine children as well as sympathy for Pascal, who had been driven to despair. She continuously spared and reached out to 9S, despite the latter's numerous attempts on her life, in the hopes that he could return to his kind-natured self.
Pod 042 has also insinuated that A2's AI parameters are not to the standard of current YoRHA models, as she often requires him to simplify terms for her to understand.
Command is the one that betrayed you.
I said SHUT UP!! Just shut up...
Why did the machines attack Pascal's village? Aren't they the same? (Responding to Pod 042 sarcastically) Well, aren't you helpful
A silver-haired young man whose identity is shrouded in mystery. He has a cool-headed temperament but can take merciless action for the sake of his objective. As mentioned before, Adam appears to be a calm, mysterious and an intellectual man. He has a deep interest in humanity and anything that is related to them. He is a man of curiosity who aims for one goal, learning more about humanity. Though he would not hesitate to use cruelty in order to achieve his goals. Adam is shown to have a deep interest in the concept of death, that is because death is something that he considers an extremely complex concept of humanity, whereas it almost means nothing to machines as they can regenerate over and over while if humans die, it's the end for them. In the light novel (which is not translated to English), Adam is seen as a more complicated, sadder and a depressing character than he is shown in the video game. It is revealed in the Light Novel that he deeply despises whoever placed him and Eve in such a world with absolutely no proper education or care. He thought that if he had to describe this horrible thing that happened to them, he would call it "hatred". He mentions that Eve learns from him, however he has no one to learn from. No one is there to educate him like he does for Eve, Which made him despise whoever placed them in this world. This resulted in him educating himself by learning from humans. It frustrated him how complicated humans and learning about them were, especially the term death. Each time he learns something, there comes another complicated concept that he does not understand. Death is a perfect example of that. He wanted to understand why humans took death seriously, as it meant nothing to machines. Aside from his usual self, Adam is seen to be a really good brother to Eve. He thinks that he is obliged to play the role of a brother to Eve, that it is his job. The two brothers' relationship is so close that it looks affectionately romantic sometimes. In route D, Adam held Eve with a gentle embrace as he was sleeping in the ark. This also indicates that he has shown his care about Eve more since he is free of malice in the ark. Even in the Light Novel, it is shown that he is a good brother by showing that Adam actually does not think that Eve is dumber than he is. He does not in a way think he is stupid. He simply uses the term "Prefers", as in Eve prefers other things than what Adam prefers. Adam strives to be more knowledgeable whereas Eve does not care about knowledge, in fact he likes physical activities. Adam simply worries that if Eve does not learn like he does, then they won't get anywhere. Aside from all of this, it can be shown that Adam is actually a masochist. He enjoys feeling pain as it is part of a human feeling.
Welcome....to my beloved city.
I-or we machine lifeforms i suppose-have a keen interest in humanity.
YES! That's it! That's the feeling! PURE HATE! AHAHAHA!!
Eve is a simple minded man. He does not like to think deeply about something and he usually questions about things that he does not have to do. He also appears to be childish in a way, specifically with Adam. Unlike Adam, who is intellectual and calm, Eve couldn't care less about knowledge. Rather, he is interested in anything that's related to physical activity. As long as he is engaged in a physical activity, he is happy. In other words, he is the brute out of the two. Eve also has a low temper, gets angry easily and is emotional. Out of the two, Eve is physically stronger while Adam is smarter. Eve deeply loves and cares about Adam. He is very protective of him and thinks of him as his "everything". The two brothers have a close relationship that it sometimes seems affectionately romantic. Eve always knew from the moment he was born, that he needs to protect Adam. As if he was Adam's shield, because he indeed was technically created to be his shield. He is shown to be extremely loyal to him, paying no attention to what he wants himself and putting his brother's desires or needs over his. As long as Adam is fine with something, Eve is too, even if he hates a decision that Adam made, he does not care or give thoughts about it as long as it makes Adam happy. While Eve is seen as someone who loves playing with Adam in the video game, in the Light Novel, it is revealed that Eve actually does not mind if he does not play at all. He actually decided to suggest playing with his brother because he knew that Adam is interested in humanity. So what Eve usually means when he says "Play" is that he refers to playing what he calls the Human-Make-Believe game, Meaning human activities that Adam is interested in. He knew that Adam likes humanity, so because of that, he usually asks Adam to play with him, because he thinks it makes Adam happy since the "playtime" is related to human activities. As mentioned before, Eve does not care about what he wants as long as Adam is fine with a decision or decides for him. However the only thing that Eve cares about from his own desires is his brother's safety or in other words, not losing him. He usually listens to Adam except when it comes to losing him. When 9s hacked into him, it is shown that Eve finally speaks of what he wants instead of what Adam wants, that is, not losing Adam and that he wants them to be in a quiet place peacefully together. After Adam's death he was overcome by grief that he raged and swore to kill everyone. His loss of Adam caused the machines to go berserk. Eve was also shown to be crying as he was saying "brother" repeatedly before 2B and 9S battled him. He could not live normally after he lost his "everything" that his death felt as if it was a mercy kill. It is important to note that unlike Adam, who thinks Eve and him are the same entity, Eve thinks of them as separate beings.
Shouldn't we be called Cain and Abel or something instead?
Then I'm gonna try extra hard to finish this! Extra EXTRA hard!
I know you two feel the same. That this world...is utterly meaningless. As far as I'm concerned, my brother... was everything. And now...EVERYTHING MUST DIE!
Note: if you audition for Devola, you must also audition for Popola.
Devola and Popola are "twin" old-style androids that reside in the resistance camp. They are the only ones who are able to fix YoRHa androids and act as support to 2B and 9S. Due to their connection of their model of androids running wild long ago, they feel indebted to the other androids for accepting them.
Devola: unlike her sister, Popola, she can come off as blunt, sarcastic and, sometimes, even a bit brash yet somehow maintains a similar soft spokenness. While she does feel more remorseful about what her models did in the past, she doesn't like doing the difficult tasks the resistance camp give them to "atone". She is the care free older sister that isn't afraid of speaking her mind
Mornin'. Slept well, didn't ya, 9S?
It means we don't know. All the records from that era have been deleted. Our model kinda went nutso at some point in the past. It ended badly.
(Exhausted and on the verge of death) Ah...A2, right? We....went ahead and opened the Tower. 9S is already inside. S-say... Did we...did we do good?
Note: if you audition for Popola, you must also audition for Devola.

Popola: she is a kind, soft spoken individual that seems to care deeply for the YoRHa androids and always wants to lend a hand. In general, she gives off a responsible younger sister vibe.
Looks like he's awake, Devola.
Most of our kind were disposed of after that. But we were spared. They used us as a sort of control group in order to ensure such a thing couldn't happen again.
Enough! Devola and I-we have to atone for our sins no matter what!
6O is an operating unit to 2B. She is a bubbly and enthusiastic operating unit often calling 2B for regular updates or to have a casual conversation on what she finds cute on the surface or being rejected by another operating unit she fell in love with. She is the complete opposite of 21O being the littl esister type to 2B
(Upset and in the middle of wiping tears) Operator 6O to 2B... time for your regularly-scheduled contact...
Aw, don't be a stick in the mud. What kind of girl doesn't wanna look good sometimes? (Whispering) I'll let you know if i find anything else cute, okay?
(Corrupted by logic virus) Two-Bee, I...am Operator 6O. ThANk you for...foR the FLOWErs. Desert FLOWErs are BEAUTIF, arEN't thEY... Th-Th-thank You... SoMEdAy I...
Operator 21O is an android communication operator permanently stationed at the “Bunker”. Her duties include sending directives to the YoRHa soldiers on the field as well as information analysis. Personalities slightly differ between units.
Operator 21O, responsible for YoRHa unit No 9 Type S, is level-headed[1], cold, and impersonal. She shuns 9S's attempts at casual conversation and does not pay heed to his compliments of her. In terms of personality, she is a polar opposite to the much more outgoing Operator 6O. Despite her cold exterior, 21O harbors a secret longing for a family. She first hints at this as 9S completes sidequests for her that involve searching for relics of the old world, where she responds to the findings with interest where the relics pertain to human familial behavior.
Look for machines that are receiving signals from the anti-air system. They should be located in elevated areas with good signal reception. I've forwarded the general positions of the machine life forms you need to hack.
I see your hacking was successful. *Condescending* Way to go!
*Under the logic virus* Coordinating data...location specified... Please keep....reserved....mission-related... One ...affirmation...will...suffice...
Anemone is the leader of the resistance camp who landed on Earth before the YoRHa units did. Anemone has also forged peaceful relations with a village of non-hostile machine lifeforms, something that unheard of within the ranks of the androids. Upon meeting 2B for the first time, she mistakes her for A2 as she once long ago fought by her side. She has a strong, steadfast personality and cares deeply for her friends.
Damn...9S really went through hell. But, you're the boss. You want him sent up to Command body and all, I'll make it happen
Nothing, just... you've never been much for gratitude you know?
Oh, um, I also have a message for you. Command needs you to contact them ASAP.
Pascal is a vital character in NieR: Automata, serving as an important NPC and a temporarily playable character in Route C. Although a Machine, Pascal is a pacifist that actively taking precautions to avoid fighting and searches for a path to peace with like-minded machine lifeforms. Highly intellectual and shows interest in topics like human philosophy, and the history of humankind and machine lifeforms.
It seems this Nietzsche was quite the profound thinker. Or perhaps he skipped right past profound amd went striaight to crazy instead.
I taught them everything...all my thoughts and emotions.
Of course I will. You have my word.
Emil in Automata resembles the companion character who accompanied the player in the NieR: Gestalt / NieR: Replicant, but may actually be a copy. He harbors latent magical power, but most of his memory is gone due to the long years that have passed/making so many copies of himself. Following the events of NieR, Emil is revealed to now have the body of a moving cart. He now operates a shop that supplies any androids of YoRHa that approach him. Upon discovery of a rare flower, a Lunar Tear, 2B and 9S are greeted by an enthusiastic Emil who mentions that the sight of the flower gives him a surge of unfamiliar memories and a strange feeling. He requests the pair to let him know if they find any more flowers. Emil is a kind, soft-spoken young boy with a gentle demeanor
Thank you again. You helped me remember an important place.
It's the place from my memories that I worked so hard to protect.
Those are....what happened to my clones. Years of multiplying....Years of fighting in wars...their self of sense just...deteriorated.
This is a role for other YoRHa units as well as androids in Anemone's camp and machine lifeforms on Earth.
