Curse of the Dead Gods: Codex
Project Overview
Hello everyone, we're back again. This time doing the Curse of the Dead Gods Codex and Journal entries.
Curse of the Dead Gods follows Caradog McCallister, as he struggles against the Gods of Wonder and Pain. Cursed in a cycle of dying and being reincarnated he offers gold and blood to the gods to grow stronger at the cost of his sanity. He battles strange and nightmarish creatures as he explores the temple, seeking a way out.
Along the way he will write in his journal and collect fragments of others, which is what you will be recording, and we will put them all together in a video.
There are a few Mesoamerican names you will speak. I have put the most accurate pronunciations I could find, but if you know of how else they could be pronounced, go for it.
Xbeltz'aloc – (Sh Elz A-lok)
Chatac – (Cha-Tak)
T'amok' - (Ta-Mok)
Yaatz – (Ya-Tz)
Sich'al – (Si - Chal)
Requirements:
- Please have a decent mic with little to no background noise. As this will be an audio heavy project good sound quality is needed.
- You may need to switch between softer voices and louder voices to add to the atmosphere. Some characters will require shouting, panicking etc. so don't be afraid to let out your wild side but remember to keep the audio quality good.
- Deadlines are not set in stone so don't panic and try to give a rushed performance
- Don't harass other people on their auditions. Provide helpful feedback and advice. We're all here to grow and learn, we might as well get along with each other.
- You must be available for communication and have a decent response time.
- If you have any questions or concerns feel free to DM me on Casting Call Club or on Discord Matt_Man#2674
Compensation:
Please have a Paypal as that is how transactions will take place.
Final Notes:
We'll primarily be in communication via Discord, so you can either leave your tag in your audition or not and if you get the role I'll DM you on CCC instead.
When you are logged in, you can comment, add submissions, create projects, upvote, search open roles, and way more. Login here.
McCallister is a British explorer from the end of the 19th century. He arrived in the Chatac civilization to catalogue relics for academic study. He is cursed by Xbeltz'aloc into a circle of death and reincarnation.
His journal entries are a mix of determination, despair, and realization. He recounts the enemies he will face in his many trials in the temples. Becoming more powerful, while also lamenting the price he must pay.
I pictured him as a gruff but knowledgeable kind of man. A warrior scholar. Like a British Saxton Hale, or Indiana Jones but much greedier.
There are a few Mesoamerican names he will speak. I have put the most accurate pronunciations I could find, but if you know of how else they could be pronounced, go for it.

To think I set out upon this expedition to catalogue artifacts and decipher ancient glyphs of the Chatac Civilization.
Should it take me a thousand lifetimes and a thousand violent deaths, I will escape you, Xbeltz'aloc. May curses rain upon all these Gods of Pain and Wonder.
Death's Champion wears a familiar smile, one that echoes now my own, a mixture of determination and despair.
Marie-Clothilde Pardieux was a another soul trapped in the Chatac temple. She is searching for her brother, Clovis, who sought out the temple to bring "glory" to their house. Marie will brave the depths of the temple to find him.... or recover his bones.
Much like Caradog, she gives into the power the Gods offer to achieve her goals. Dying over and over again but refusing to give up until she saves her brother.

My heart jumps at the thought that my dear brother might now be nothing more than the groveling husk of something once human. Oh Clovis... Where are you?
Oh my brother, what horrid bargains were you forced to contract with the devils of this place... all in the name of bringing forlorn glory to our house
A noble warrior maiden came to me with a ghastly message from my brother. She told me not to fear for he had become a champion of the God of Death.
Belinda Davenport was like many others who came into the temple seeking knowledge. She sought out the Gods of Wonder, giving into their temptations to become more powerful in the hopes of unlocking to truths of the temple. She would ultimately lose herself in the lust for power and her mind was incapable of learning the cosmic truths, and finally forgot who she was.
Any accent works as long as it's convincing.

I can still hear the God of Death laughing as he watched us die, stomped into a pulp by our own creations.
His eye, the eye of death, it follows me, it hunts me. Even in death I am never alone...
I have died a thousand deaths, and lived a thousand lifetimes, and have learned absolutely nothing.
Pablo Cordoba is one of the few who entered the temple not on purpose but instead by bad luck. Once he was inside the temple he fell into the trap of the Gods of Wonder and Pain. I pictured him as a native to the area and had heard the myths of the Gods through Folk-lore.
There are a few Mesoamerican names he will speak. I have put the most accurate pronunciations I could find, but if you know of how else they could be pronounced, go for it.

Sich'al and I could never find common ground. She knew everything. I knew nothing.
Those who followed Yaatz had a confident sense of humor. You either laughed when they joked, or you died.
Xbeltz'aloc spoke to me of the virgin widows of the Jaguar God, T'amok'. How they moaned when he killed their husband's champions. How they lament for their lives sacrificed for nothing.
