Yokai Legends is a visual novel style video series that follows yatagarasu and a tanuki, Gary and Tanner. They are trying to live a peaceful life, but keep getting dragged into trouble by more yokai. This series was originally a visual novel, but it is going to be a video series to appeal to a larger audience. So, we are keeping the look of a visual novel with the sprites and movement. In the future there may be a visual novel created using the assets we create together.

We have finished our pilot episode and are currently writing the rest of the series.
There will be about 12-13 episodes with many characters to fit in all of the kinds of Yokai there are to learn about!

-- Auditions --
-Please keep all auditions in AABBCC format with no slating. Submit the audition with your discord tag or email.
-Multiple takes are not required, but they do help me to get a feel for your voice.
-Please have a good microphone and quiet recording space.
The deadline is out far, but if we find the cast we may end it early. It is extended out while the entire script for the episodes are being written.
Feel free to audition for more than one character.
--- Compensation & Side Note ---
This project will not be monetized. It is for fun and to gain experience.
However, everyone will be compensated. Payment can be made through paypal or venmo after all of your lines are submitted.
Voice actors - $20 main VAs $10 supporting VAs, $5 minor VAs once for the entire production
Staff - $20 staff once for the entire production to be paid at series completion. If you drop out after completing an episode I'll still give you $10.
I hope we can all have a great time and have something to be really proud of at the end.

Yurei is a ghost. A person who died of mysterious circumstances. He doesn't remember how he died, but he wants to find out more about himself.
He is easily annoyed and often the 'straight man' to Gary and Tanner's antics.
"I... don't actually remember how I died... I'm not sure if I want to, but...I have nothing else."
(Annoyed) "Seriously? All of the yokai out there..*sigh* and I end up with you two??"
"Thank you-for everything! I.. couldn't have gotten here without your help. I really am grateful."
Honeonna is a super cool goth gal.
She is mellow and kind of an older sister type to her friends. She seems to always have it together.
Sometimes makes playful jabs at her friends, but she means well in all that she does.
"Hey- Nice to meet you..." (Noticed something odd) "Heh, Nice hat you got there."
"To be honest with you, I like you even better this way. Fluffy is the way to go."
(Betrayed and processing it) "W-what... so that's why- but... how could you say something so cruel? Now what am I supposed to do??"
Ameonna is the rainy woman. They bring misfortune and rain wherever they go.
She is timid and quick to cry, but has a good heart and good friends.
(Softly realizing )"Wait, so you-you were lying to us?" *Cries* "How could you do that to us we trusted youuu"
(Mildly sobbing while talking, but still happy) "He's so cute I can't handle it!! I just want to pet him!"
(Somber) "We knew already, but we didn't want to tell her you know? It would-" *starts choking up* "It would break her heart"
Hareonna is a sunny girl! She is bright, bubbly, and happy. Everywhere she goes she brings sunshine, happiness, and excellent luck
She is a fantastic friend and does anything to brighten the mood and please everyone else.
(Cheery) Hey~! Don't even worry! I'm a sunny girl. Good luck follows me."
(Confident) "Oh hoh hoh So you were worried huh~? Pfft you must not know us then! We're always one step ahead!"
(Consoling) "Come on, don't beat yourself up. Anyone would have done the same thing. All we can do from here is our best."
Yukionna is a cold cold girl.
She has a cool monotone voice and is icy to others when she first meets them. Despite that she's still glued to Hareonna and will warm up eventually.
(Cooly) "I...suppose you can hang out with us for awhile."
"We've been onto their plan for awhile now, but didn't know what exactly they were after...Well now we know."
"Don't worry about that. I have it covered. These little guys have been keeping an eye on everything."
Shishi dogs ward off evil. You normally see one on each side of an entrance and sometimes there is a baby.
This shishi dog is the mother shishi dog with her mouth open. She is stern, mature, and easily angered.
She does not put up with funny business and will protect her family and fight against evil at all costs.
(Sharply) "Just where do you think you're going??? We're here to ward off evil and that includes y o u."
(Disgusted) "Why are you even working so hard for this person? He can't be that special."
(Matter of factly) "We've concluded our investigation. In our search we've found that their plan involves a certain someone. They are going to use this person to manipulate another into their evil doings."

This shishi dog is the father shishi dog. He is cool headed and a little goofy.
He may crack a few dad jokes now and again.
"Come dear, they look harmless. You all aren't evil now are you?"
(A little concerned) "We have a duty to get these guys to safety. We'll be back in a jiffy. When we get back we can help everyone else. You all take care while we're gone."
"Nice to meet you 'knew that already,' I'm dad."

This shishi dog is the baby. They are spoiled and high class.
(Looking down on them) "As if we'd let the likes of you two through. You both stink of evil. And, yes, I do mean stink. You stink."
(Pleading) "Would you PLEASE just give the guy some fried tofu and spare us from this craziness???"
(Annoyed) "WHAT? We went through all that trouble??? Don't tell me you already knew all that!"
Charlie is a Nekomata. Nekomata are born from really old or really mistreated cats.
They have a real resentment toward humans and are generally not happy.
angry, evil, fireball summoning, necromancing, grouch.
(Threatening) "Well now this is a pain. I wasn't supposed to be seen, but I couldn't have predicted you'd be thrown into me.
Heh. Guess your luck really has run out."
"Hello-hello! Did someone get left behind? We're going to go on a little adventure."
"This is the end of your legend. *falls*
AHHH What the-!!!"
She is a rokurokubi. She has a neck that can extend out really far the eavesdrop or pull pranks.
She is very lighthearted, proper, and friendly.
"Oh my~ You all walked into a place like this? What brings you by?"
"Ohhh don't mind me *chuckles* Just trying to see what all the fuss was about!"
"I truly thank you for getting us out of there. You have my sincerest thanks. Please take care."
Tengu are mischievous. They are sometimes known to be protectors of the mountains and are known to pick people up and drop them in random locations.
Do not hitch a ride!
Tengu seems very wise and dependable - except he isn't!
"Hoh hoh hoh ..so you're in need of my help huh? Suuuure I can take you there. For a fee."
"Hello there. You don't look like you're used to these woods. What brings you to the mountains?"
(A really maniacal old man laugh after pulling off a very successful prank. )
Kitsune is wise and powerful. Very good at pulling pranks and will do it for nothing.
They do not stand for disrespect.
"Welcome. What offering have you brought to pass through here?
Don't be stupid. I can tell you have fried tofu.
"Oh... You've really come here and not brought an offering? How foolish. That tofu will be mine. Observe."
"Still not enough for you? Hah. Well here try this one out. Ahahahahaha! Had enough yet?? Just give it up! hahahaha!!"
OkuriInu follows travelers at night if you look back at it or fall- they'll pounce on you. If you throw a shoe for them to chew on or successfully make it to your front door (and thank them!) you'll be alright. They keep other yokai away from their prey so they're technically making your walk safer if you don't trip.
OkuriInu is a lazy boy who just wants his food. He didn't really mean to be, but he is a good boy.
(Lazily) "Ah so you noticed me huh. You can slow down a bit I won't hurt you."
"Woah a shoe!"
"Hey wait... what happened to it???"
(Lazily) "Yeah no problem. That's... totally what I meant to do-yeah. Well anyway you're welcome I guess.
Man, now I gotta go find other food."
Shinobu is a tough oni/ogre. She is rough and tumble and ready for a fight.
"Hah! Like I'm gonna let you get away!"
"Oh hooooh! Are you sure you're ready to take me on?
Heh well hey it's your funeral."
"Ah rats. They did get away.
(Disappointed) Oh man I'm gonna really hear it for this one."
Kasaobake is an old umbrella that has been given a spirit.
They like to pull pranks like licking unsuspecting victims.

Filth Licker is a yokai that appears at night in unwashed bathrooms to... clean it themselves.. with their tongues.
This one is high energy and a little strange.
"Blehhh!! If you're looking for grub go elsewhere this ones mine!"
"I dunno if I want to go anywhere else. These people do not clean their bathrooms."
"Onto bigger and better messes."
YukiUsagi is just a snowman in a bunny shape. It is a good friend/pet of Yukionna's.
