Hello there! What is this you may ask?
It's a casting call for the dub of a wonderful Webtoon Comic called "The Dragon Tutor". We have already gotten explicit permission from the original artist Mar Mai and are very excited to get started. This casting call is only for the first 2 episodes, though we will be casting more episodes here soon. Those of you who are cast are expected for the entire dub, not only the first episodes.
For those of you unfamiliar with the premise of this comic: Quiver is a young Prince of the Northern Elf Kingdom. Him, his family, and his dragon tutor Zephyr are preparing to me his future bride, young Princess Calista of the Southern Elf Kingdom and her hard to please family. Everything seems to be going well despite the awkward circumstances, until their castle is attacked by a maleficent force.
Requirements:
A significant level of technical and performance quality is going to be expected. Please ensure that your microphone is capable of recording your performance without picking up overwhelming background noises or excessive peaking/clipping. Some of these roles are for characters who tend to emote bigger- as such those roles will probably involve shouting and even a bit of hamming it up/overacting in some capacity at some time or another so if you cannot commit to the needs of a given role please do not audition as I cannot expect to select someone who cannot give the performance a role requires.
In Regards to Payment:
This project is going to be unpaid and just for fun as this is a dub of someone else's hard work. Please do not expect any compensation if you are cast other than crediting and appearing in the videos of this dub.
A Few Final Notes:
1.) I'm a huge fan of this comic and so are some of the crew involved in making this a reality and as such we may be submitting our own auditions alongside all who wish to participate- I DO NOT EXPECT YOU TO TRY AND IMITATE OUR PERFORMANCES. Each role will have the suggested guidance and ideal performance parameters I have in mind for each character, but the beauty of acting is taking the same premise or direction and presenting it with your own unique flair.
2.) Anything in italics below is not something you will read in your auditions. Those are directions to help you encapsulate the character better.
3.) Discord is not required, but it is recommended as we utilize it to organize group rehearsals, deliver announcements, and distribute scripts (it's also been an incredibly useful tool for getting to know the people affiliated with the project and we've had a fair bit of fun with it).
4.) We are looking for actors 18+ as this comic has mature themes.
5) Once cast please keep in contact or you will be recast and be respectful to cast and crew.
There will be no tolerance should these requirements be violated.

Peppertop is a wonderful dad, loving husband, and friendly King. His voices pitch and cadence should be similar to that of Chris Hemsworth but his accent should be English but only very slightly.

Gwen is a loving mother and Queen. She met Peppertop in the war and became his right hand man. I picture her having a very loving and motherly tone in the mid-high range. Her accent should be slight.

Gwen: How does she look so good after traveling all day?

Quiver is a sweet, young, and caring Prince. He has a big heart and takes well after his parents. His voice should portray a young boy and his accent should be slight, not full English.

Peregrin can be soft and harsh. He's a vulnerable soul and portrays that when speaking to others. He would rather hide his emotions but is unable to. He can get emotional quickly but is quick to go back under his shell. He is young for an elf but mature and usually takes care of things for his older brother Peppertop. He is 17 in these early chapters and progresses to 28 very quickly. Please be prepared to play both ages.

Peregrin: Zephyr and I have rearranged the Schedule. Everything is ready.
Peregrin: Come along little ones.

Zephyr is a bit of a mystery. He's very caring and came to love quiver and care for him. He's very witty and intelligent with just a hint of sarcasm/attitude. He should sound like a middle aged professor with a youngish feel to him. Someone who, though he's not young himself, has a youthful quality to his sounds. His accent should be present but not overbearing. Slight accent. Radyr is pronounced like: ray-deer.

Zephyr: Greetings young Prince! Majesties!
Zephyr: So I see King Peppertop, If you think it's for the best!
Zephyr: Peregrin Radyr, have you found a problem already?

Zephyr: Uh.. Yes! Thank you for bringing all of that up again!
Zephyr: Yes, but so are Leviathans and as you are the first on I have ever met... We'll just have to see what happens!
Zephyr: However, I do feel sorry for poor Quiver!

Atlas has a somewhat snobby accent, but he's genuine and has a big heart buried under a stern outside. He can be snippy. I'd place his pitch around mid to mid-low.

Dean Howard is a kindly old dragon who runs the school Zephyr is a professor in. He's usually in a kerfuffle but do not underestimate him. I'd like him to have a pronounced accent in the mid/mid-low range and he is an elderly gentleman so please try your hardest.

Baozhai pronounce Bow-Jai is a large dragon in the species of Luck-Dragon. He has a big personality and speaks in third person. He speaks using the English language similar to how Starfire from Teen Titans does. I picture him with a nice deep timber in his voice. the thickness of the accent I'll leave to you to try out.
