The Caravan Tournament - A Fallout New Vegas Mod
Project Overview
The Caravan Tournament
The Caravan Tournament is a first-of-its-kind quest mod for Fallout: New Vegas that focuses on an in-game card game called caravan. Caravan is somewhat like a cross between blackjack, war, and double-solitaire. The mod has the main character take part in this tournament and face off against 5 unique opponents for a prize of 20,000 caps, the main currency in Fallout. It includes many custom assets relating to caravan, such as an entire set of custom cards.
Contact/ Audio SpecificsTo any auditioning voice actors, it is preferable if you have a Discord account, as that will be the main form of communication and sending voice lines (My Discord is Akarion#1258, anyone can contact me at any time.), but alternate methods will be discussed if you do not have Discord.
I would also like to voice call while you record your voice lines as this will let me better direct what is needed, however, this is not necessary if you do not wish to/cannot due to scheduling conflicts.
The deadline for voice lines will be 2 weeks after you are cast. As for the file format, all voice lines must be mono 16-bit .wav files in 44100Hz.
Final WordsThank you to everyone who auditions, and I hope you all have a nice day.❤

Mary is a Follower of the Apocalypse, part of a group that seeks to help people in the wasteland. She has studied to be a doctor and is intelligent, but hot-headed, impatient, and intense. She is determined to make the world a better place but is willing to bend certain rules to do it. She is participating in the caravan tournament to try to win the prize money and use it to help the Followers of the Apocalypse acquire a stable supply of medicine.
Audition Lines
1) Mary just lost her game to the player, player approaches to talk. This is the greeting that is given and should be done with a resentful tone, very obviously angry.
2) The player has just forfeited the game at Mary's request. A reward was promised, and now the player is asking about it. The character is impatient and annoyed at this, and tries to get it over as quickly as possible.
3) The player tries to convince Mary to forfeit instead of her since they are also with the Followers and are trying to win the prize for the same reason as her. She is not convinced, skeptical tone and a hard edge to her voice.
Oh, it’s you again. Come to gloat over winning?
Yes yes. I can spare some medical supplies and magazines for you. No need to thank me.
That’s not reassuring at all. We do this my way or the hard way.
Steve is a teenager who has been playing caravan since he was very young. He's known as a caravan prodigy and is the main moneymaker in his home. His winnings feed his whole family, and his parents make him continue to play, even if he doesn't even like the game that much. He is shy and nervous about pretty much anything, with some stuttering in his speech. Combined with the fact he is participating in a massive tournament, he's a bit of a nervous wreck.
Audition Lines
1) Player asks Steve if his parents know he is participating in the tournament. He is not happy about it and has a sad tone when talking about his parents forcing him to play it. Trails off quietly at the end.
2) Player has won against Steve and talks to him afterward. He sounds unsure, mostly because he doesn't want any conflict, so he just makes a compliment instead of what he actually thinks.
3) Player tells Steve he doesn't sound too happy about participating and asks why. Steve is unsure in the first part, then a small angry outburst, and finally seeking approval with the final word.
Yeah. They’re the ones who made me participate actually…
G-good job on w-winning earlier.
It’s just… I don’t wanna play this shitty game but they k-keep making me. Y’know?
Old Kober is an arrogant old ghoul, and very dismissive of others. He sees caravan as an art and loves to play it immensely. His old age means he is very experienced in it, which also leads to him being dismissive of other people and a sore loser. He is very self-assured about his skills and sees most other people as beneath him in terms of caravan ability. However, he is able to admit the player, having reached the finals is not worth underestimating. His manner of speech is quite refined, despite his ghoulish appearance. He loses his composure if angered.
***Old Kober is a ghoul, which in the Fallout universe is a severely irradiated and mutated human. This means their voices are usually very gravelly and raspy. I will include a couple of examples below.

Audition Lines
1) Kober asked by player who they are, Kober answers derisively with extra emphasis on words with a *. Slightly incredulous and angry that player does not know who he is.
2) Player sits down opposite Kober to play against him. Kober greets him as such and is arrogant about it.
3) Player has brought up some evidence that Kober may be cheating, but tells him that he just wants to play a fair match. Kober appears lost in thought at first, then resolute and almost respectful.
Who am I*? Only the best caravan player in this sorry desert. The real question is who are you*? Just some sorry courier who had a lucky break. I was there when caravan was invented you inbred whelp, and you demand to know who I* am?
So you're the other finalist. Gotta hand it to you, you've made it this far but your luck ends right here.
An interesting play… So be it. Let’s have a fair game and may the best player win.
Joe is the organizer for the tournament, and also the person who first greets the player when they sign up. He appears cheerful and has an almost permanent smile. However, on the inside, he is kind of a massive asshole, which bleeds through into some of his comments. He got the job after convincing his boss to fund a caravan tournament, and he is quite charismatic, even if he might seem a bit goofy.
Audition Lines
1) Player walks up to the front desk and says they want to sign up for the tournament. Joe is very happy to hear this and tries to sound as helpful as possible.
2) Player asks Joe if it's time for their 2nd match. Joe lays out the information in a cheerful manner.
3) Player informs Joe they lost their match, Joe sounds very understanding in the first sentence, but abruptly turns cold and business-like in the second, a sharp contrast.
Great! The entry fee is 500 caps, non-refundable of course. We've only got one spot left, so I hope you have that much. And here’s a deck, in case you don’t have one.
Yep. Your second match is against Mary Darrington, a Follower of the Apocalypse. Probably a lot smarter than your last opponent.
Awww that's too bad. I’m going to have to ask you to leave, the waiting room is only for players.
The Announcer is a flamboyant and loud character that is quite the party animal. In-person he is laid back, a close example being like that of a stereotypical "surfer dude", but when he is announcing things he switches to something more like a WWE announcer, with lots of shouting and trying to hype up an audience. He is way too hyped for a card game tournament, definitely drunk or high. His voice lines are split between talking to him in person and his announcements. Both are included in the audition lines. Adding a speaker effect to the announcements would be appreciated but not necessary.
Audition Lines
1) Player approaches the announcer and asks why he's wearing such "a strange getup". Announcer answers almost as if lecturing the player as to why they do it, but still with a laid-back tone.
2) Player asks who he is, Announcer answers as if he is bragging, and also serious, with an emphasis on the word "The".
3) Player sits down in the chair opposite their second opponent, Announcer does his announcement introducing the two players. Feel free to change certain words if you think it works/flows better.
You gotta dress the part man. If you don’t look good, you might as well not bother. That’s my number one life motto.
Me? I’m The Announcer. Only one person like me, and that’s me.
Aaaaaaand we are back after that short break. I hope everyone is having a wonderful day, or night. I’m not too sure, I’ve been in this cellar for way too long! Anyways, up next we have the lovely Mary Darrington versus the courier who’s been causing quite a stir in the betting odds today!
