Sparklecare is a webcomic and commentary on the American healthcare industry. 

The comic follows the story of Barry Ill, and his experience of being admitted to the Sparklecare hospital. Despite its glamorous reputation, the hospital is actually a prison that tortures and kills its patients and drains their families of insurance by the corrupt hospital's owner, Dr. Cuddles. Cuddles is a greedy Capitalist scumbag who cares about nothing but money, and so far, everything is working out for him. Any patients who escape or try to speak out against the hospital aren't believed and are written off as crazy. The story follows Barry's journey into uncovering the truth about why this place really is the way it is, and why nobody's talking about it.

This webcomic is beloved to many, and seeing as there is no currently active and developing fandubs for this comic, I have taken it upon myself to direct one! Fandubs are a great way to put even more life into these already very developed and real-feeling characters. While this is my first time directing a project like this, I have experience being in voice acting projects, and very excited to help bring this comic to life!
Of course, I need the help of talented voice actors, and am mainly looking for voice actors within the LGBTQ+ community to really show the diversity of the characters! As a transgender voice actor myself, I know how hard it is to find roles that are accepting of those like me due to discrimination. And so, this project offers to be a home to the talent of others like me!

THINGS TO KNOW:

- This comic carries heavy and dark topics. For this reason, I ask that you have the ability to bring out the emotions of the characters during sad and depressing scenes, as well as show their fear in tense and terrifying ones, as there are plenty in this webcomic.

- Discord is a requirement, and a lot of organization and communication will be done on discord. 

- though previous knowledge of the webcomic is not a requirement, i would strongly prefer actors who already have a general feel for the characters, and know their personalities well.

  • April Update: A small hicup!

    Hello again! Before you ask, no, this isnt an april fools prank post!
    This is a small update to say that this project will be on a temporary hiatus.

    Not to panic! This will only be for this month. More roles must be cast, and im starting to consider putting in actual money to this project to make it the best it can be, so my plans will need some ajustments. As such, i will need to put a hold on everything for a bit and work on making sure things go smoothly.
    I'll leave more updates soon~! I promice we will get things up and running eventually.

  • MARCH UPDATE: An extended deadline!

    Hello sparklecarers!
    This project isn't dead, as I'm still looking for voice actors!! I have not gotten enough auditions in order to make a full cast list. A few roles have been cast, and im eternally grateful to everyone offering their talent!
    The deadline has been extended in hopes to find actors for these missing spots. Feel free to DM me with any questions.

  • HAPPY NEW YEARS! Heres some clarification for casting.

    Hey sparklecarers! On the first day of the new year, i'll be posting this casting call onto the official sparklecare server, and as such i wanted to make a quick update to clarify things not only for newcomers, but for those who have already auditioned!
    First of all, I've gotten only a few auditions so far, but they're all already so great! I've been making some test edits with the lines I've been given to see if the voices fit the vision i have for the characters, and while i already have some casting decisions in mind, I would like to give more people a chance. So, here's the way I will be casting:

    1. I will only cast a role if it has at least 3 different auditions. This does not mean I will cast the second it gets 3 auditions, but that if I have an audition I have my eyes on, I will only cast it if there are more people for me to consider.
    1.5. This only will not apply if the project reaches its deadline and a role doesn't have 3 or more auditions. Then, I will cast from the auditions already given for the role.
    2. If a role has no auditions at all by the time the deadline for casting is reached, either I or someone else involved with this fandub project will take on the role. If no one in the project can properly potray the character, I will host a different casting call for the role with a tight deadline to fill the role.
    3. There will be at least 3 extras casted for this project. Extras may turn into full character roles if a background character shows up multiple times throughout the comic. People cast with character roles may also need to occasionally do extras voice lines.

    Thats about it! I just wanted to update the project in order to not only clarify the way I will cast, but to also assure others that this project is still in the works, and I have not forgotten or given up on it! Thank you for reading, and stay safe this new years!
