Project Pulse - Early Development Hiring
Project Overview
PULSE (Working Title)
What is Project Pulse?
Project Pulse is an independent video game developed by BlueMouse, a small indie game group getting started in the world. The game is a fusion of genres that stands out with its emphasis on characterization, art style, and the unique theming of rhythm-platforming. The game focuses on diversity in music, with each of the game's districts having a different musical and visual theming.
What is the game about? While details are still mostly in planning phases, Project Pulse Starts with your main character as They begin a new recruitment at a special operations center, whose goal is to intercept certain mysterious power sources scattered across major points in the world. As you progress, you'll adventure to various unique locales, using your provided Pulse Device to find a rhythm in the way you travel. Along the way, you will run into a cast of exciting, and unique characters-- for better or worse.. Though eventually it becomes evident that not all is as it seems for our protagonist.
What do we want from you?Your raw, unbridled talent!
While the game still has a while to go before things are good to be shown off, you can be a large part in helping develop what this game will become! This is initially going to be a mostly free project, for those who'd like to team together and make something for fun! Once kickstarted and pulled into high gear, paid positions will be made available.

Opened up new voice acting and singing roles for one of the major characters in the game.
Recruit (Working Name)
This is the lead playable character that you'll be spending time in the game as: A nimble avian character new to their position, ready to face the world with great ability and confidence. Though a little ignorant and stubborn, they have a bright-eyed optimism that could inspire anyone.
The character will require an emotional range varying from likeable and comedic, to a heartbroken and defeated attitude. Turns in the story will lead to the character developing into a scarred and tormented personality, so be prepared to tackle varying emotions along the way.
Feel free to veer away from the given information if you believe that a more unique or standout-ish voice will match better.
Role Inspiration
Pit - Nintendo/Sora Ltd.'s Kid Icarus Uprising
Sonic the Hedgehog - Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog Series
"Huh..? OH! Yes, that'd be me, ma'am: the new recruit! I'll try my hardest not to let you down!"
-Recruit upon being introduced to supporting character via intercom during the first stage. Optimistic, and a bit innocent."Heyyyy, So umm.. you remember the briefing before I headed out? Yea?-- Neat. Well can you please explain why there's an ACTUAL DRAGON AND NOT THE OLD MAN IN THE REPORT!?!?"
-Recruit upon being attacked by a dragon out of nowhere, when attempting to find a person resembling one loosely. Panicked, and fully sarcastic."Everything.. All of this.. I didn't sign up for any of this... BUT LOOK WHERE I AM NOW!!! How can ANY of you explain why I wasn't told this?! We're talking about hundreds of thousands of REAL. LIFE. PEOPLE, and you're trying to tell me that I wasn't "certified" to KNOW?!"
-Recruit upon being revealed that the innocent, platforming-camouflaged actions of the game led to the destruction of multiple city districts, harming and potentially ending many lives. This is a turning point in his character, and is dealt with heavy emotion and turmoil.
While the second playable character in the story, Codename: Romantic, does not speak at all during the story.
A feline character shrouded in mystery and suspicion, Recruit will run into this character many times along the journey. They seem intent on warning the character about something, though timing certainly isn't on their side.
The character can be voiced by either male or female, with the result hopefully being in a gender-neutral voice that doesn't give the character too much of an identity that leans one way.
-Grunts of affirmation. Cutesy non-speaking noises also an option
-Distressed and angered noises. Not overly angry, but still intent and sure in their decision.
-Playable noise. Going against enemies as a playable character. Looking for noises that indicate jumping, attacking, and special ability charges.
Night is one of the many colorful villains you'll face throughout the game. This smack-talking, smooth-rhyming Doberman type character is in charge of protecting the nightclub district; a bustling nighttime city where lights, music, and entertainment never stop.
For voice, inspiration should be roughly based around a vibrant character you would hear on a nighttime radio show, someone sassy, confident, and not afraid to voice their opinion. A smoother, suave tone with a hint of snappiness would work best. Feel free to stretch the voice to any way you see fit.
This is one of the only roles in the game that will feature singing for the character. It's not required for the voice actress in question to have singing but it helps to have the ability, specifically within rap/trap themed vocals. If needed, voice reels for singing can be sent here or on discord at Azure#0649
"Greetings to everyone tuning in to our lovely evening broadcast here in nightclub district, I hope everyone is having an absolutely astounding night! Now-- I've been told that a certain someone has been causing a bit of trouble around the block this evenin', much to the dismay of all you lovely listeners.. Thankfully, that won't be a problem for long if I can help it."
-Night, hijacking your broadcast to include their radio show. First introduction to the character, they're very reserved until referring to the player character."So you're the man in question, eh? I've gotta say, I was expecting somethin' a little more.. Dastardly, villainous y'know? Seems all they sent out this time was a hatchling who just learned how to fly the nest for the first time!"
-Night, taunting the player upon meeting them for the first time. Various crowds are at the event, so make sure to sound like you're putting on a show for an audience."No! No no NO!!! You can't DO THAT! GAH-!! How.. The.. HELL are you avoiding everything like that?! You're just a ROOKIE!!!"
-Various snippets of Night's dialogue upon the player progressing, almost taking her down in the process. Vary contrasting to the composed suave nature of their introduction, don't be afraid to sound a bit manic.
The singing voice for Night, a very spoken-word/rap/trap vocal role, exemplifying the nightclub theme of the district with the musical style.
Voice reels can be presented here or on discord via the team lead: Azure#0649
If no prior demo reel for the style of music is available, feel free to use a reference or lyrics from a pre-existing song.
This CAN be a paid role upon request, though for planning the goal is more finding a voice for future use. Payment is possible for any demo reel or proof-of-concept upon completion.
-Submit vocal reel here or on discord: Azure#0649
Anchor is one of the many villains that you will encounter along your adventures. The head of Beachside District, this shark character is in charge of making sure no harm is done to the area. An antihero in personality, Anchor is more likely to act first, ask later; a very headstrong and aggressive personality, they use their main source of weapon, the anchor, as a means of stopping anyone who plans on ruining the otherwise party-filled district.
Looking for a gruffer voice-type, someone who can be energetic, yet still threatening if needed. Feel free to add your own flair if wanted!
"Well howdy there, stranger! You've made quite the splash with this big entrance of yours!! Care to tell me what's got ya barging in uninvited like this?!"
-Anchor upon arrival to the player advancing through the stage. Very snappy and already unhappy by the player's presence."AHAHAHAHAH! I have just the thing for situations like this! Now tell me, what's BIG, BAD, and will pin you STRAIGHT INTO THE GROUND!? Well if you were gonna answer 'yer old friend Anchor!', yer partly correct, but I was referrin' to this here beauty of mine to do the job!!!"
-Anchor, pulling out his weapon to attack the player in the boss fight. Very loud, boisterous and not very serious, almost as if looking to pick a fight for fun.
Looking for an artist with the ability to draw anthropomorphic character designs, preferably similar to the ones shown in the voice acting demos, with a lean on more exaggerated styles.
The workload will be around 10 different characters, and you will be in role of designing and adjusting to changes, and working off of visual references as well as written. This job can be paid a small bit upon request for initial development, so please include details upon submissions.
