Hi! My friends and I are making a 2D animated short film for our second year at our school called Postmortem!
Synopsis 🚬🦟After the suicide of Oaklendale's newly promoted police chief and favorite golden boy Anton Miller, a narcissistic corrupt detective named Henry Simpleton delivers a eulogy about his buddy buddy relationship with the dearly departed. Over the course of his speech, the audience sees their relationship was only masquerading as functional as Henry, jealous of Anton's honest good Samaritan notoriety during his time as detective, attempted to murder Anton with the absurdity of a Bugs Bunny caper. As one attempt after another failed and Anton was promoted to police chief, an enraged Henry went for ole reliable: a bullet through the head. Henry wins over the sympathetic mourners by the end of his eulogy, and to cement his place as the only detective Oaklendale wants, he plucks the chief of police badge from Anton's corpse and fastens it to his own front.
About Postmortem 📖🐛-The film has a run time of approximately 3 minutes and forty seconds (time change is possible but will not be too drastic to the previously stated run time).
-The film's art style is inspired by old 2000s cartoons (Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's lab, My Life as a Teenage Robot)
VA Requirements🎙️🦗-Applicants must be 18+
-Must have clear and good audio quality
-When recording your lines, introduce yourself and tell us what your favorite bug is! (If you have one :9)
-Record 2-3 takes per line when reading the audition lines. Please keep audition on a single file with .mp3 or .wav format. Take pauses between each line.
-If you decide to audition for than one character, please send each character as their separate audition take
-Needs to be available to do possible retakes

An arrogant and narcissistic detective, he will do anything to maintain his image to the public eye. His sly and witty nature makes the residents in the city of Oaklendale look past any questionable traits that Henry may possess. In public, he talks and presents himself as a suave and charismatic figure as oppose to with his co-workers where he slightly lets down his fabricated personality. The break in Henry's fake personality starts to slowly come as Anton's rise to being the star of the police force becomes almost overwhelming for Henry putting him into a blind fury at the climax of the film.

Voice Notes:
-His speech habits can range from a few things. At the beginning of the eulogy in the film, he talks with an almost slow and somber tone until it slowly ramps up to a faster speed. Especially when he talks about how he got know Anton, he almost talks as fast as a car salesman
-Can be a big schmoozer in order to get the things he wants
-I imagine his character to be around his late 30s, so his voice has aged well beyond maturity
-He talks with a lot of exaggerated expression in his voice, a man that needs to talk with his hands to convey what he's describing
PLEASE NOTE: This film is very dialogue heavy and Henry's lines outweighs Anton's lines by...a lot. He talks for about 90% of the film
Good Morning. I'm Detective Henry Simpleton, a close friend of Anton Miller. I'll never forget the time that I've spent with Anton...that little....ray of sunshine.
Of course, I wanted to personally congratulate our new Chief of Police the day before he was sworn in.
I AM HENRY. FUCKING. SIMPLETON!
The Chief of Police in the making. Amongst his department, he was seen with the most potential. Anton has a heart of gold and will help anybody at the drop of a hat. His eagerness to help others, hard-working spirit, and his approachable nature makes him a figure the city looks up to. He is the youngest employee at the police force (25-28 years old), but even seniors in his department have to admit they've never seen someone work as hard as him. All traits that his co-worker, Henry, absolutely despises.

Voice Notes:
-Anton is a calm and sensible person with his peers, the type of guy people would want to invite to the office cookout
-When it comes to doing his job, he definitely takes it seriously, but not to the point where he's cold to his other peers on the job
-Anton's voice doesn't need to have a southern accent, but it's definitely a take you can experiment with
-The main core of Anton's character is that he's a family man that just wants to make the city he lives in even greater and better than before.
PLEASE NOTE: Anton has the least amount of lines in the film. From rough estimate, he talks for about 10% of the film.
