Mnemophobia - Ace of the Deck
Project Overview
OVERVIEW
Mnemophobia - Ace of the Deck is a student-made animated short film that will run for an estimated 3-5 minutes. The animated short film follows the main character Ace who's an overworked human working in a castle filled with monsters inspired by mythology, cryptids and folklore as he runs around unable to keep up with the workload. This leads to the eventual existential crisis of his horrible work-life balance that he struggles to maintain as he becomes jealous of his coworkers, manifesting as a monster of his own.
I need a variety of voices from the 2 main roles of Ace and Aether (the butler and his jealousy) and 7 coworkers (Figgs, Gumi, Mannford, Gorgonzola, Heldi, Emeri, Lusei) The 2 main roles depending might be around 50 AUD each and the 7 minor roles being 10-15 AUD.
This project is my final year major assignment for Industrial Multimedia. I am casting for various voice roles in this animated short. All roles will be in English, and voice actors must be comfortable performing in this language. Each voice actor will be credited in the final product with their chosen social media handles and/or names. Please note that this is for my HSC project, and if selected, it may be publicly displayed, in addition to being posted online.
Payments will be made via ANZ/direct transfer between accounts or PayPal only.
Deadlines: I will stop considering new auditions by the end of December, and final lines must be submitted before mid-January. The entire project is flexible, but the latest I can accept submissions is early February.
WHAT I NEED:
Have fun and be silly! Let’s not take this project too seriously; I’m unprofessional, and I don’t expect you to be either.
Please submit clean recordings using good-quality microphones (no background noise like air conditioners or fans, please. I don’t mind doing some noise reduction, but too much post-processing can diminish the quality of your beautiful voice).
Taking initiative with your role, being expressive, emphasizing words however you feel if I haven't specified and generally having fun with it! For every character I will provide a detailed description of how they should sound and it's your choice of how you interpret it! If you wanna give your flare to your role I have an 87.4% chance of loving it!
Brutal honesty: If you find the dialogue I've provided to be painfully cringe-worthy or if you feel I’m being too demanding or convoluted, please let me know! I am open to critiques on most aspects.
As a foreword, I want to mention that I am a minor and will still be in high school during this project. If there are delays or if my work appears amateurish, I will do my best to accommodate and rectify any mistakes. However, please keep in mind that I have no experience in this field, as I’m just a humble student and animator. The pay for most roles will be 20 AUD, with the maximum I can afford for lead roles being 50 AUD. While I would say I’ll pay in exposure, we all know that’s not a viable option although if you are looking for something more casual and laid back then I do think this would be good for you. If your looking for money, I am so sorry gurl, cuz same dude... same 😭

Description of role:
Ace the lead role of my short animated episode, he is a butler working in a castle, the story set in the 1700s- 1800s. It follows him running around and doing chores while having a existential crisis about his personal life and how he's trapped in a cycle of self loathing and jealousy :3 But don't worry he's probably fine. He has a very soft spoken voice, not too many lines I hope although he has many small noises he makes like squeaking, hyperventilating and squealing.
What I'm looking for:

- Need to have a expressive voice especially one which can sound exasperated, strained and stressed out and especially panicked
- I'm not too picky about the actual accent, I'm not looking for anything specific as long as you can sound like a pathetic loser. I cannot stress this enough, I don't know anything about voice acting but as long as he sounds like you could dump a bucket of water on him and he would say sorry to the bucket for being in it's way, I don't mind.

Description of role:
Aether/ Jealousy follows the lead protagonist of my short animated episode, Aether acts as a cocky and sassy inner demon to his counter part, acting as the Hyde to his Jekyll if you get me, constantly critiquing and seeding doubt into the main character. He has a sultry, more expressive and energetic voice. If your looking to apply I mostly am looking for someone with a good villain voice and laugh.
What I'm looking for:

Description of role:
Gozzie is a side role of my short animated episode, he is a gorgon gardener working in a castle with ultimately no speaking role or lines because he is mute, although he still makes alot of noises and it would be SO funny if any of yall have a snake and if they make any noises if you could record it. No im not paying for this one but maybe if you have a pet snake that wants to be a up and coming voice actor give it a try!

Sassy and sarcastic, Gummi is a Kumiho inspired fox who works as the castle medic and pharmacist. He's a side character and will have barely any lines.

Mannford is a eccentric Egyptian sphynx cat that's been mummified and embalmed, he works as the archivist and librarian in the castle as a side role. He will have few lines. Because of his character nature his voice can be a range from scratchy to deep.

Figgs is a good natured honey pot ant centaur, she works as the head chef in the castle as a side role. she will have few lines. Because of her character's nature her voice should sound motherly and welcoming.
