Green Thumb (University Animated Short Film)
Project Overview
Green Thumb is an animated short film project for my university class, the plot of the film heavily references Stardew Valley (Office worker becoming a farmer). The film is centered around Marian who was an Office Worker for a company and due to financial loss in their business she was let go. Turning over a new leaf, she accepts her Grandma's request to inherit the farm, and she basically learns that being stuck in a cubicle all her life, was something she never wants to do again. The story's message is about exploring what you enjoy and accepting help from people around you. Marian is an uptight, suit-wearing, city-dwelling business worker. With a background in finance and management, Marian was the kind of person who thrived on structure and routine. Though she was like this because of work, she used to be very free and kind, always running around like she didn't have a care in the world. She was someone who grew up in the city but loved visiting her Grandma. However, she opted into business after graduating from University. After being laid off from her company Marian's Grandma gave her an option at the best time, giving her the farm as she was going to retire.
Marian's Personality :
- Organized: She is a master of organization, with a planner for every aspect of her life. Her desk is always neat, and her reports are flawlessly arranged. She finds comfort in routines and meticulously planned processes.
- Kind-hearted: Despite her uptight and professional demeanor, Marian has a kind and compassionate heart. She genuinely cares about the well-being of those around her and often offers a listening ear and support to her colleagues and friends in times of need.
- Responsible: She takes her responsibilities seriously, whether at work or home. She is the person you can count on to meet deadlines, fulfill commitments, and take care of any task that comes her way.

Jo is a war veteran who decided to settle down with his wife and live in their hometown to start a shop and family. He's very kind, caring, and funny. He's the type of person to crack a joke when he sees that you're feeling down. Jo likes helping people around town no matter who you are, His voice is in the low-mid register and he has a raspiness in his voice but can still feel the warm and welcoming tone.
Jo's Personality:
- Empathetic: He has a deep understanding of the feelings and emotions of those around him. Jo can easily put himself in others' shoes, making it easier for him to connect and offer support.
- Patient: He maintains a calm and patient demeanor, even in challenging situations.
- Supportive: He is an excellent source of support and encouragement for those going through difficult times.
- Reliable: Others can count on Jo to follow through on his commitments and promises. He is a dependable friend, family member, and colleague who can be trusted to keep his word.
