[PAID] D&D Cartoon Series (Curse of Strahd)
Project Overview
Hi! I'm Shane and I'm an independent content creator on youtube and newgrounds. I make cartoons about roleplaying games, and my most ambitious project is a series called "The Peace Guild", which follows a party of adventurers playing through the Curse of Strahd module. The scripts, music, art, editing, and many of the voices are all done by me, but I can't do it all on my own. This is where you come in!
In order to give a feeling of immersion to my cartoons, I enlist the aid of talented VAs to bring these characters to life! Here are some details you should know about the project before auditioning:
1. I'm not a company and my content as of right now makes no money, besides the very small amount I get on patreon. As such, I can't pay the rates that a business would pay, but I can offer you $10 per supporting role and $5 for minor roles, like a single line, or a sound like a giggle or scream. This is per video, so if I should need your help again, you'll get paid again for new videos.
2. I can remove *some* background noise from your takes, but ideally you should have a setup that cuts reverb and background noise down already. The more clear your audio is, the more likely I am to consider casting you.
3. I may ask some of you to reprise your role for future videos. I only expect to make 3 episodes this year, and one is already recorded, so I won't be bothering you too much! But to make things easier, I'll invite you to a private discord server with the other VAs so I can keep you all up to date or reach out to you if needed. You can also easily do the same for me!
4. Finally, I prefer being able to do a live reading of the script as a group before sending lines in. This is to give all the actors a better feel for the dialogue and tone of the script. It generally makes it easier to deliver the lines, and its also fun to connect with other VAs! If you can't make it to a group session, that's okay. I'd still prefer a live recording session one on one though, so I can help direct you. I'm not a great director, but I'll try my best to communicate with you!

Thank you all so far who've auditioned! As I'm listening to your auditions, I'm beginning to get a better idea of what I'm looking for with this character. First, let me clarify that he does not need to have an eastern European accent - it was my mistake for putting that in there. I am going to reserve those kinds of accents for the Vistani characters. This is because the Vistani are a distinct ethnic group and having a shared accent makes them feel more real, whereas Ismark and the many other Barovians are a scattered, diverse group of citizens with no shared origin. Additionally, it will then be easier to cast these future characters since they are allowed to have North American or English accents, and the vast majority of VAs have or can imitate one of those accents. My main focus is on the line delivery. When you audition (and people that have already auditioned may send in another one if they'd like) I would like you to think about his tone. He's actually naturally a joker and perhaps a hopeless romantic, but he has no energy for those things anymore - too much suffering has happened. He's beaten down. Drinks during the day time. He's tired. Worn. But damn it, he won't give up that easy. His sole goal in the story is to protect his sister from a being far more powerful than he is. He'd die for her, and intends to... but for the first time in a long time, he has found a glimmer of hope! 5 adventurers have survived the "Death House", and... maybe with their help, he can get his sister to safety! Think about those motives when you audition and craft a voice to match that feeling. I know one of you out there is my Ismark! Good luck!
Ismark Kolyanavich is the current burgomaster of the Village of Barovia (he's basically the mayor).
His father died, his sister is pursued by a vampire lord, and he's recently become the town leader despite people not really respecting him as such. He drinks a lot.
His voice should sound rough and mature. He's only in his late 30s, but looks and sounds a bit older due to the stress of his situation.

(serious, in a hushed voice) It’s about my adopted sister, Ireena Kolyana. She is hunted by the devil, and has been bitten twice already. I am concerned that as long as she remains in this village, she will never be safe. I would like her to retreat to the town of Vallaki, to the west of here. I was hoping your group could escort her there.
(looking at two letters in surprise) Ye-yes! What is going on here? This one inviting you here is clearly a forgery… (in lowered tone, eyeing Vistani in tavern) I suspect the Vistani are to blame for it. But this other letter telling you to leave… it has my father’s handwriting! He sent this out just days before… well…
(innocently) I’m really not hitting on you.
Jenny Greentooth is an old crone that lives on the edge of town in a shop that sells magical baubles and trinkets... for unusual prices.
She is very old and her mind is an enigma. She either is extremely cunning and pretending to be senile as a cover, or she is ACTUALLY senile and just very shrewd. Perhaps some of column A and some of column B.
She will feature in one upcoming episode this year.
Call me Jenny, deary… Jenny Greentooth. (gives a gross smile) Now, let’s see what you have for sale.
(feigning concern) But my girl, are you sure you want to give up something so precious? Life is by far the most valuable commodity there is. Your time is limited, and always growing smaller.
(gleefully) Hee hee hee hee hee! No no, my dear, thank YOU! And please, call me Jenny. Enjoy your time in Barovia!
"Mad" Mary is a woman in her 50s whose daughter Gertrude ran away from home and hasn't been seen in days. She's terrified that her daughter is in grave danger. She's also a little unstable.
Her voice should be heavy with sorrow, but how you interpret that is up to you. I'm not sure which kind of voice fits her best, so feel free to experiment!
(sobbing) Yes… It was passed down from me to her.
(slightly alarmed) But… it’s all I have left of her!
(thinking for a moment) … I suppose, if it’s to find Gertrude. Here. Please be careful with it. May the Morning Lord guide you.
The three Vistani women own the "Blood on the Vine" inn. They don't say much and mostly giggle as one of the party members tries (very much in vain) to impress them.
The Vistani are an imaginary ethnic group native to Barovia, and they are based aesthetically off of the Romani people. As these roles are POCs, I'd prefer casting a POC to represent them, even if these are just small roles. The Vistani are a big part of the setting, and I will more than likely call upon your help again when the party reaches the encampments that they've set up in various parts of the world.
As for their voices, in order to make them feel distinct, I'd like them to display an eastern European accent. The actual location of the accent isn't super important, it could be Russian, Romanian, Hungarian, or Albanian, or some mixture of these. The Vistani aren't real, but the cultures they are inspired by are, and it would feel better if their voices reflected that.
(giggles) Yes, how could we resist?
(rolling eyes) Impressive…
(sarcastically) Oh yeah, we’ll be sure to.
