Alola Vacation - A Pokemon Animatic (More new Roles added!)
Project Overview
~Project Details~
"Alola Vacation" is a fan animatic project based on the popular Pokemon video game franchise. The animatic focuses on a Pokemon Trainer known as Cynthia, who is the Champion of her home region of Sinnoh, going on vacation to the Alola Region and interacting with a group of original characters I've created called "Team Buddy". There are 3 episodes in this project (which I'll detail more below!), and the overall feel of it is meant to start out as somewhat cheery and optimistic, but quickly take a wrong turn into tense and thriller territory. I wouldn't call this project a "full-blown horror movie" by any means, as there are a few comedic bits to it, but I do want the tension and suspense to be palpable in the later episodes.
The video I linked at the top is a small preview of what the final animatic will be like (Just replace the text with actual recorded dialogue haha).
~Episode Details~
There will be 3 total episodes in this "Series":
-The first episode focuses on giving the audience a look at Cynthia's daily routine on vacation, which consists of battling Pokemon Trainers on a small Alolan island, and having a few interactions with her many fans.
-Episode 2 is when the horror-undertones start seeping in as Cynthia decides to go to a day-spa with her Pokemon "Garchomp", before becoming separated and subdued by the treacherous Team Buddy.
-In the 3rd Episode Cynthia awakes to find that she's been captured by Team Buddy, but strangely enough, their plans for her have not proceeded as they expected. Cynthia must sneak around Team Buddy's hideout, find her Garchomp, and hopefully escape without anything bad happening.
~Requirements/Guidelines~
-If you are auditioning for a character (especially Cynthia) you have to have good microphone quality. Minimal to no background noise, no pops, no whistles, no puffs. Noise removal is alright, but just make sure its not overproduced because i want to hear your pure, unfiltered voice!
-Auditions will be evaluated and judged between myself and a small panel of people who are working on the animatic. Unfortunately, because of time, I won't be able to offer much critique on many of the auditions. (I'll try to when I can though!)
-You can audition for more than one role, but please don't submit multiple auditions for the same role.
-You don't have to be a huge Pokemon fan for this project, but if you are (or at least kind of know what it is) then that will definitely help.
-Try to really get into your character and emote/express as best as you can! This series will be going to some crazy places and the voices are what will be selling people on it the most!
-Have fun and don't stress too much! I know I'm making this seem really serious, but this is a fan animatic for fun, so please don't get nervous and audition as best as you can!

Hey, what's up you guys! So recently I added in some new roles you can audition for! Mainly, the "Team Buddy Grunts"! Now I'm embarrassed to admit this but I didn't know you couldn't cast multiple people for one part, but that's actually what I'll be doing for the "Team Buddy Grunts". Basically, I'm gonna need a small handful of people, so it's not a "one and done" kind of role. I should also mention that the background characters are like this too! I recently cast the Male Background Characters, but there's actually a few people who scored the gig, rather than the one who is showing up! Sorry if this is causing any confusion (I'll make sure to clarify this better in the future), but essentially I'll be choosing a few different people for the "Team Buddy Grunts" Role, the "Male Background Characters" Role, and the "Female Background Characters" role!

Medium Sized Update - Cynthia Auditions closing soon
Hey guys! Medium sized update this time, but auditions for the role of Cynthia will be closing in on August 3rd! We've received some awesome auditions from you guys and I wish I could keep the audition process up longer, but in order to start finishing the animatic we needed to have Cynthia locked in pretty early on. Thanks so much for all your auditions, and keep up the good work all of you! -
Small Update - Looking for a composer and reviewing auditions
Hey guys! First of all, thanks to all of you who have auditioned! It's been awesome seeing such a huge and positive response to this, and it's extremely encouraging! Currently me and my panel are reviewing all the auditions that have been submitted so far, and are trying to find the right voice actors for our vision! All the auditions so far have been fantastic, and even though its cliche to say this, I legitimately wish I could cast all of you in this thing! I do want to note that if you haven't submitted an audition yet then there's definitely still time! We'll still be reviewing and listening to auditions for another couple weeks, so if you haven't found time to record something, don't sweat it! There's still a lot of time! The other thing I wanted to update you guys on is that I'm currently on the search for a composer/composers for the animatic. Somebody to make the background music, compose scores/themes, audio cues, etc. I explain it better in the official casting call, but if you or somebody you know is into composing/remixing/arranging music, then please, feel free to send a demo reel! That's all for this update, but hopefully soon I'll be back with more info on the cast soon! Alola!
Team Buddy is the sinister Evil Team present throughout the "Alola Vacation" Animatic! Although you may not realize it at first. Unlike other Evil Teams, Team Buddy is very happy and charming, almost to the point of being creepy! They dress in a very 1950s vintage way, and are constantly helping people throughout their day! Beneath that nice facade, however, lies an unsettling eeriness just waiting for the right time to strike. (Yes, I was very much inspired by the idea of "Stepford" for this team lol)
For the Team Buddy grunts I'm looking for voices/ways of speaking that sound very "1950s". I tried to write a lot of that into the Audition lines, but when you go back and listen to something from the 50s (like this reference video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxYvICy29Pg) they just had a unique way of speaking that's sort of calming and happy (almost overly happy haha), and that's essentially what I'm looking for with the grunts.
-Male Audition Lines-
(Happy)
"Mightn't it be alright if I battle you?"
(Happy but has been somewhat injured by a powerful Pokemon attack)
"Oh my, this fella sure is strong! I'd hate to be around when he has the eats."
(Happy, although somewhat creepy)
"How do you do? Isn't today a dandy day?"
-Female Audition Lines-
(Happy)
"Well, that would be just swell!"
(Happy, but somewhat concerned)
"Oh my, I didn't hurt your Pokemon did I? Please, take this Full restore. It will make your Pokemon right as rain!"
(Happy, almost creepily so)
"We're your biggest fans, Miss Cynthia. We've been watching you and your darling Garchomp for ages!"
*Feel free to improv here if you want to* (You don't have to though!)
When Cynthia is led into Team Buddy's Spa and given an appointment for a special "relaxation session", she's surprised when a somewhat clinical looking woman greets her. This mysterious woman, known only as the "Team Buddy Doctor", is very calm and helps Cynthia clear her mind. Although maybe too much...
If my description of her didn't convey it, she is meant to come off as very calm and nice, but with a twinge of creepyness about her as well. At a certain point it's revealed that she is fully evil, in fact one of the main villains (if not the main villain!), but her demeanor and voice never change.
For the Team Buddy Doctor I'm looking for a voice that has a very calm and neutral tone. It's meant to be very reminiscent of the 1950s way of speaking (a common theme of Team Buddy), and here's a reference to the general cadence and sound that many people in the 50s spoke with (Marilyn Monroe reference): https://youtu.be/L05TYBXwU3A?t=267
(Being incredibly nice, but also somewhat oblivious to how rude she is sounding)
"Oh sweetie! You look absolutely uncouth! No Champion should ever walk around looking so unsightly.
(After being asked who she is, but deflecting the question back to Cynthia)
"You'll know soon, Miss Cynthia, but for now we must do something about your drab sense of presentation! Allow me to fix your hair and touch up your make-up.
(Somewhat whispered, but meant to be very creepy)
Soon you'll be happy forever, just like me...
I'm looking for a music composer that can handle remixing Pokemon songs to fit into this animatic and match the action happening, as well as making brand new original themes and tracks to fit into the background! If you have any experience with the following things, that will help especially:
-Remixing Pokemon Music
-Making "Vintage Style" music or remixes
-Making upbeat "K-Pop Style" music or remixes
-Creating atmospheric and horror-style sounds and music
-Making background music that blends and doesn't overtake a video
If you're interested, please link a demo reel or some kind of example of your work! Also, regarding the payment, If you have official commissions of any kind I'm more than willing to go by your chart/scale for the payment! I put in 35$ as a placeholder, and am willing to go higher if need be.
Say something you think would fit
Cynthia is a powerful but reserved Pokemon Trainer who through years of practice, patience, and determination, earned her spot as the "Pokemon Champion" of her home region. She's come to the Alolan Islands to unwind, but finds herself caught up in a lot of Pokemon battles. She's around 23-28 years old, and has had a lot of experience with Pokemon Training.
For Cynthia's Voice I'm looking for something that's a little more reserved and subdued, but also has a commanding presence to it. There are also times where she makes somewhat lighthearted joke, and her voice needs to also be fit to make some slightly comedic comments. There will also be moments where makes various sounds like sighing out of frustration, yelling from pain, and so on.
(Normal)
Great work, Garchomp. Now we can help all those Villagers get their delivery on time.
(Encouragingly)
"I'm sure with a little more practice you'll become the Alola Champion in no time!"
(After being grossed out by a snot-covered child, but still trying to be nice)
Oh... er, yeah! If you keep training then you'll definitely become a Pokemon Master!
This is a young child that thought his Caterpie could stand up to Cynthia's Garchomp. He has a very minor role in the beginning of the first episode, where he and Cynthia talk after their "battle".
He's a young boy that really only shows two emotions throughout his screentime: Sadness and dismay when Cynthia beats him (There's a lot of crying involved here), and hopeful optimism when she tells him that with a little more practice he can become a great trainer.
(Shocked) "C-Caterpie!"
*Various Crying Sounds*
(Sniffling but is motivated) "Thank you Miss Cynthia! I'm gonna train even harder now!"
Within the animatic there are numerous background characters that have very few lines, and if you show off your range you might be able to voice a couple of them!
There's a couple "archetypes" I'm looking for (Sort of a dorky/nerdy type guy and a "cool bodybuilder"), but other than that, feel free to go crazy and improv some (pg) lines!
(Surprised)
"Woah, is that Cynthia?"
"Hmm? What's she doing?"
*Feel free to improv some "Pokemon-y" Dialogue here (just keep it pg)*

"Ahh! We love you Cynthia!"
