Remnant
Project Overview
Remnant is a Turn-Based RPG, that seeks to be a tribute to old-school games of the past like the original Final Fantasy games, Dragon Quest, and the Mother (EarthBound) series among many others. Remnant seeks to bring together everything beloved about our favorite games, into a new package.
The game will feature many beloved mechanics from our favorite games that we hope fans will love to see return in this brilliant culmination of everything that we all love from our favorite games.
Although the project itself is in its infancy, we hope to create a game that's beloved to all, and provide an experience that is sure to leave a lasting impact on its player base. Remnant explores themes of abandonment, loss, and abuse, as well as how one's responses to those trauma manifest. Be it substance abuse, isolation, or any of the unfortunate symptoms that come from experiencing trauma, we are sure to properly explore how these symptoms manifest to give an accurate portrayal of these mental illnesses. Our goal with Remnant is to create a world that is properly lived in. Everyone in the world comes from all sorts of differing background, be it racial identity, gender identity, sexuality, Remnant seeks to be inclusive to ALL people from ALL walks of life.
We hope you're interested in the project! Frequent updates on new roles, as well as an upcoming Kickstarter page will be coming, so keep an eye out for that if the role you were looking to fill is already taken. We may have another spot for you! While not listed here, we are looking for a Programmer, who would be capable of creating the game. The plan is to initially release the game on Steam, however stretch goals for the Kickstarter do include both Android and Nintendo Switch ports, so ability to code with those in mind would be preferred.

New Role!!
So many amazing people have auditioned so far!! We're very excited to see that so many people are interested in this game! We have added a new role, Marquis! Marquis is the fourth and final party member of the main squad! As well, Mask shall be reaching out to most auditions over the coming day, so look for her feedback! - The Remnant Team
Ed is a bounty hunter in his early to mid-twenties. He's experienced in what he does, and exudes a sort of quiet confidence.
Ed is a loner and should sound as such. He's not big on making friends, but enjoys the small bits of company from "single-serving friends." Local barkeeps he'll never see again, caravan drivers to a town he'll never visit again, he enjoys hearing their stories. Our goal with Ed is similar to Han Solo, if he was a bit more of a loaner and about 20 years younger. Less cowboy, more sharpshooter.
Feel free to experiment.
"Ugh. This... may as well happen."
(Random Battle Dialog/Grunts)
ex. "Take that!", "Lining up...", "Fire!", or "Gotcha!"
Feel free to ad-lib.
"Heya. Name's Ed. I'm a bounty hunter from the Garnier Bounty Hunter's League."
Shana is a 14 year old Summoner, and the lone survivor of the genocide of her people. Shana is very quiet and reserved, and doesn't take easy to trusting people. She is more likely to apologize for bumping in to you, when its entirely not her fault. She should sound mousey and quiet, and speak confidently but almost reassure herself rather than show off to her enemies.
Ideally she'd have some flavor of English accent, although this is not required. Feel free to experiment.
"O-oh. H-hi there! M-my name's Shana! I'm... a summoner."
(Random Battle Dialog/Grunts)
ex. "G-gotcha!", "Healing!", "C-Come to me!", or "N-n-not even close!"Feel free to ad-lib.
"-sniff- I... I just wanna go home..."
Jinn is a 26 year old Knight in the Garnier Kingdom's army. They're outgoing, brash, and peak "thembo" energy. All brawn, zero brains. Jinn is supposed to be gender-androgynous, and should be read as such. Not necessarily male, nor female. Jinn hasn't served long as a knight, and still has that sort of new recruit invincibility complex. Jinn is sociable and confident.
Ideally, Jinn would have a strong French accent, but this is not required. Jinn is coded to be Hispanic, and should be read as such.
Feel free to experiment.
"Hey there! Name's Jinn! I'm a knight from Her Holiness', Garnier Kingdom! Hope we can become good friends!"
(Random Battle Dialog/Grunts)
ex. "Hyah!!", "Take that!!", "You're done!", or "Not even close!"Feel free to ad-lib.
"W-well, at least things can't get any worse!!"
Marquis (MAR-KEY) is a 17 year old Dragoon, or Dragon Hunter. He is generally very quiet, calculating, and cold. He doesn't speak a lot, and typically either stays silent when addressed, or responds is short grunts. Marquis is also transmasc, as well as black, so its very important that he's properly portrayed as such. The style we're going for is akin to a slightly quieter Noctis from Final Fantasy XV. Usually quiet and reserved, but not afraid to make a quip or snide remark at the expense of his friends.
"Hey. I'm Marquis... I'd prefer to not go into my past."
(Random Battle Dialog/Grunts)
ex. "You're done!", "It's over.", "Dragonfire!", "Spineshatter.", "Pulling back."
Feel free to ad-lib.
"You lost the moment you tried to fight me."
The visual style of this game is supposed to be reminiscent of old N64 and PlayStation games like Ocarina of Time and Final Fantasy 7. Ideally we'd like you to produce a portfolio in this sort of style, although this is not required. We just ask that you are able to fully encapsulate the characters from the reference images we will provide.
Animation experience is not required, although it is preferred.

The visual style of the Remnant is akin to old PS1 and N64 games like Final Fantasy 7 and Ocarina of Time. The "choppy" animations of that era are exactly what we're looking for. Specifically, we're looking for your ability to animate the models of the characters, monsters, and NPCs to fit this sort of style.

We're looking for someone with the ability to recreate the feel of the old PS1 and N64 era of games. The limitations of that era of games defined the experience of play, and we're looking to recreate that nostalgic feel. Being able to tastefully create "flawed" audio is a necessity in this project.
