Survivor Radio: A Project Zomboid Mod
Project Overview
What is Project Zomboid?
Project Zomboid is an isometric open world survival game set in a zombie infested post apocalypse world. The game is set in 1993 Kentucky, with the player expected to survive as long as possible, fighting off the zombie threat whilst balancing hunger, thirst, and other needs. "This is the story of how you died."
What is Survivor Radio?
Survivor Radio is a mod for Project Zomboid on the Steam Workshop that adds music and stories for the player to listen to via in-game radio broadcasts. There are several radio stations, each with different stories to tell. Some are even interconnected, requiring the player to listen to multiple broadcasts to piece the story together. To further enhance the player's experience with the mod, we're looking for voice actors to play a slew of characters found within. If you're interested, feel free to audition below. Rules Prior to Submission
1. Don't feel inhibited if you have a lower end microphone. The game and mod are set in 1993, in the post apocalypse, so even cheap microphones of today are generally better than what was available then in terms of radio technology. We will be judging you on your acting and voice, so there is no pressure.
2. If auditioning for a main role, understand that there will be a large number of lines to record. Some of the larger broadcasts are over 20 pages in length and feature hundreds of lines. Make sure you are ready to make such a commitment when auditioning for one of the main characters of the mod.
3. Cursing and explicit language is very prevalent throughout this mod. If you're uncomfortable with using such language, then this may not be the best project for you.
4. If you would like some constructive criticism, make sure to leave a comment or note and I'll make sure to get back to you.
5. Please have a Discord account! If you get cast, we need an easy method of contact. You will need to join the server.

(Start upbeat, but gradually grow quiet.) Hey everyone, it's Skye! My arm's taking quite a long time to heal, but we got medicine here so I'm not too worried... Just... It hurts...
[Male -- Early 30’s voice, southern “Kentucky” accent. Best scout in Dianne’s group, resourceful and crafty when put under pressure.]
Hrm... Let's hear it. We're in a quiet spot here... Well, so long as he doesn’t ask us to take him back home, yeah, I’m for it.
Think I might just do that, actually. This drive’s been deafeningly quiet.
[Female -- Early 30’s voice, southern “Kentucky” accent. Snarky but loyal to her group. Cautious of strangers.]
(Watching another group, somewhat annoyed)...Nope, still sitting here. Guarding the truck.
Like, seriously. They hid it in the bushes. Who the hell’s gonna come along and mess with it?
(Confused) I… don’t know. Maybe someone’s redirecting the signal, or something?
[Male -- Gruff voice -- Adult male, southern “Kentucky” accent. Leader of Dianne’s group, headstrong and determined.]
(Watching a survivor approaching) Got it. I can see them pulling up now. Fucking praying this works out.
(After discovering a broadcast potentially revealing how the zombie virus broke out) So… you think that… wherever she is... It might be where all this shit started?
(Horde incoming) Mary! Last call, we’ve gotta fuckin’ go!
[Male -- Deep voice -- Adult male, no accent, Police officer from Morrison, Ohio. Emotionally scarred after surviving a zombie siege that killed his whole group. Cautious of other survivors and unwilling to take risks.]
(Hopeful, but downtrodden) Are your people looking for new faces, by chance? My last group, they, well… didn’t make it. Been alone for the last two weeks.
I- thank you. Really, this is the first big break I’ve had for weeks.
[Female -- Young adult female voice, southern "Kentucky" accent. Dianne's daughter who was attending college out of state during the spread of the Knox infection. Determined to get back home and find her mother.\
We fought through dozens of these things before we were able to get out..! Couldn't tell if the blood we were covered in was from us or them...
Fuck that! I didn't come all this way to die now!
My best friend left me to die.. She left me in that rotten house for those things. Do..d-do you even know what that feels like?
[Male -- Mid 20’s voice, no accent. A survivor whose previous life events have scarred him and set him on a path to thrive in the apocalypse. Hates bandits and those who prey on the weak/innocent. Normally operates alone but makes exceptions every now and then.]
(Introduction) If you’re hearing my voice, then congratulations. You’ve made it through your first week in Hell.
Odds are you’re barricaded in some house outside your hometown surrounded by a buncha strangers. Safety in numbers and all that shit.
(Sullen, annoyed tone) Saw those people with silver armbands butcher a random survivor through my binoculars, and saw more of them. Over a dozen.
They kill on sight, and they were close to finding me. That’s all the motivation I needed to get the fuck out.
(After beating down a raider, angry) Shut the fuck up! You’re lucky I’m in a forgiving mood. You’d be brains out on the pavement right now if you tried this shit with anyone else!
[Male -- Elderly voice, Southern “Kentucky” accent. Has Lung Cancer and coughs a lot -- A radical christian man who believes he was sent by god to guide survivors of the apocalypse]
Of our spiritual health- *cough cough* ...In this new age.How we can stay connected to the Lord, despite our circumstance? Where things are kill or be killed. How do we best serve the Lord?

So a couple days ago we had the biggest group we’ve seen yet show up at our gates. The wall expansion is still incomplete, so we have them camping out in their vehicles just outside the gates until it’s done.
(Morose, feeling guilty) It’s just- - Ewan was so GOOD at this stuff. Dealing with deadheads, going on scouting runs. The guy was a valuable asset. Fuck… I knew the guy for over eight years. Was my neighbor...*sigh*
(After a few raiders attempt to break in) *gasp* Holy fuck! Jesus! BEN! Did you ACTUALLY pat them down?! Jesus fuck. That- that was too close.
[Male -- Adult voice, southern “Kentucky” accent. Nate’s next door neighbor who quickly proved himself as one of Tioga’s best scouts. Lets positive praise get to his head too much. (You will need to scream for this role)]
We just took a left turn, can see a picnic bench now…
(After capture) *wheeze* I... I'll never tell you shit you bitch.
(Panicked rage) S-somebody h-help me! *pained shout* ...YOU FUCKIN' BITCH!! I-I'LL KILL YOU!!! *pained scream*
[Male -- Young adult voice, southern “Kentucky” accent. One of Nate’s neighbors who helped established Tioga in the early days of the apocalypse. Witnessed his entire family reanimate due to the fever. Mick was a prepper before the apocalypse and knew that the end of days would occur within his lifetime. Another very capable member of Tioga, if not for Nate filling the role already, he’d be a great leader.]
(Reporting a raider) We found one of the fuckers. They’re looting the Twiggy’s right now.
Stacy wants to just blow his brains out, but.. he’s alone. We could knock him out, bring him back to- (cut off by Nate)
[Male -- Adult voice, no accent preference. A survivor who narrowly escaped the chaos of the cities with his daughter, Lauren. They risk it all to get to Tioga after hearing Nate’s broadcasts.]
(Panicked, almost thought he lost his daughter) *heavy panting* My daughter! Where's my dau- O-oh! Lauren! Oh, thank God!
(Morose anger, annoyed that he can't protect his daughter's innocence) Can’t shield her from any of it. It’s everywhere now. We tried to get across the bridge when folks started talking ‘bout the virus leaving the zone, but… They blew the bridges. Those motherfuckers in the army, they trapped us here.
(Trying to find help on the radio, finally found it) Oh, thank fuck! Listen, we’re on the interstate, trying to find Tioga. Been on the run from these things ever since we got into Knox, it’s just gotten worse!
We just went past the crossroads mall a few minutes ago, now we’re nearing the- Ah shit!
[Female -- Child voice. Howard’s daughter. Witnessed the death of her mother.]
Dad! I-I was so scared...
(After narrowly escaping getting munched on)...I- I saw how you killed the last one with the knife, and…I thought, maybe if I took out its knee first-
[Female -- Adult -- no accent -- Fierce and calculating, vengeful and full of hatred -- The Leader of the Blind Justice raider gang.]
