Star Wars: Thrawn | Comic Dub

Star Wars: Thrawn | Comic Dub

Project Overview

The Comic Experience is proud to announce that we will be continuing our Star Wars comic dubs with the Thrawn series! TCE has been producing critically acclaimed comic series similar to this one for three years, especially Star Wars content.  We are thrilled to include this series in our line up! Before we delve too far into what this project is about, we have supplied links to some of our previously completed works to give you a feel for what you will be voicing.

Previous Productions:

Vader #3
Star Wars: Main Series #1
Leia #1
Kanan: The Last Padawan #1
Darth Maul #1
Avengers: Infinity War Prelude #1

How it Works:
Suffice to say, we have mastered bringing to life comics over our near three year run on YouTube. We pride ourselves on our company's quality in both visuals, sound effects, music, and the most important part: the voice actors. All productions start with a highly detailed and descriptive casting call. Our typical policy is we don't cast actors until the last day of the call so everyone has plenty of time to audition. Our CC's typically last 2-3 weeks. At the end of the CC process, the Series Director and Casting Director sit down together and make the casting decisions based on a variety of factors such as audio quality, performance, vocal range, talent, etc. Once the casting decisions have been made, we send a link for a private Discord server where you will find your scripts, submit your lines, and to just meet and mingle with your fellow castmates. The production time on all projects are airtight, and deadlines will be posted for line submissions to allow voice actors time to first takes and if requested, retakes. If a request is requested you will have three days after the retake request is made to redo your lines. From there it is up to the Director and Producer to bring to life the comic. Production time can range from a few days to a few weeks so please try to have your audio in as quickly as possible so production can begin. Rinse and repeat until the series is complete!

The Synopsis:
One of the most cunning and ruthless minds in all of Star Wars, Grand Admiral Thrawn is back with his own six-issue miniseries! Written by Jody Houser (Rogue One Adaptation) and drawn by Luke Ross (Star Wars: Darth Maul, Star Wars: The Force Awakens Adaptation), follow the comic adaptation of Timothy Zahn's New York Times best-selling novel about Thrawn's rise in the Imperial ranks, on his way to becoming one of the most feared military tacticians in the galaxy far, far away!

Series Director: Robert A.

Series Editor: Liory

Ground rules:

- Please make sure you can commit to the series and reprising your roles. The series is a rather lengthy one which will require you to reprise your role for several months.

- Please be able to get your lines in the very same week you get the script. Production time will be airtight!

- Have professional grade equipment or at the bare minimum make sure your audio is top notch. No background noise!

- Have a Discord or be able to create one. This allows for us to communicate and upload documents much easier than Skype or any other platform.

- Lastly, enjoy yourselves!

We look forward to hearing your performances!

Arihnda Pryce

Role assigned to: Sharon Grünwald

Before becoming an Imperial Governor, Arihnda Pryce was the daughter of a mining family on her home planet of Lothal. Through subtle political manipulation and blackmail, Pryce manages to maneuver her way to Coruscant under the service of Lothal’s Senator Domus Renking. Eventually, she manages to arrange a form of partnership between herself and Thrawn to mutually benefit each other. Vocal performance should be as close to the original performance of Mary Elizabeth McGlynn as possible: https://youtu.be/911B-SdCK5M?t=21s

NOTE: Whoever is cast as Arihnda Pryce will also need to voice her mother, who only has a handful of lines. This is exclusively because of a scene in which Arihnda imitates her mother over a comlink.

  • “I want to go to Coruscant. You must have a hundred good assistant positions you can offer. I want one. I assume a new doonium vein is worth the trouble?”

  • “You’re too good for those who dislike you to attack directly. Politics is all they have. Pressuring the high command to keep your aide from advancing. Putting your ship last in line for repairs.”

  • Mrs. Pryce (elderly woman): “Talmoor! I don’t… I don’t feel well. I think it was – I think it’s something in the air. Can you come… home? I need… you and Arihnda to come home.”

Role assigned to: Poppletron

Nightswan is the main antagonist of this series – a rebel who uses piracy to raise funds for people who were wronged by the Empire to seek revenge. He is a perfect foil for Thrawn, being a cunning and intellectual man, nearly outsmarting Thrawn on several occasions. Thrawn first meets him on the Dromedar, where Nightswan pretends to be a nervous Imperial Officer who had been overpowered by invading pirates. He should begin with a rather nervous voice, but switch to a more confident, commanding voice when he reveals himself.

  • [Pretending to be nervous] “Yes. I was scared. Didn’t focus on the uniforms. When I saw who you were… I guess I’m lucky you didn’t shoot me for pulling a blaster.”

  • "It’s good to see you again, Commander Vanto. And please – call me Nightswan. I’m glad that Admiral Thrawn sent you to seek me out. I always thought you’d been dealt a bad set of cards."

  • "I started hearing rumors. Something nasty the Empire was up to out in the middle of nowhere. The project that was sucking up all the doonium, iridium, and other metals being yanked out of the markets. I heard about whole planets being strip-mined. Private operations being taken over by the Empire. I started getting curious. Sometimes it’s a very bad thing to be curious.”

Featured most prominently in The Clone Wars television program, Imperial Colonel Wullf Yularen has now risen to become the commanding officer of the Imperial Security Bureau, and finds himself impressed by the newest rising star in the Imperial Navy: Commander Thrawn. Vocal performance should be as close to the original performance of Tom Kane as possible: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cA8gklBduek

  • "Governor Pryce has been following events on Batonn very closely. Two days ago she came to me with a proposal."

  • “I saw some horrendous things during the Clone Wars. This ranks right up there with the worst of them. As you can see, the number of civilian deaths far exceeded the number of insurgents killed.”

  • "There are those who… dislike Lieutenant Thrawn’s methods. But I’m not worried. I was an admiral during the Clone Wars. I still have friends in high places.”

Best known for his role in the stories of Rogue One and A New Hope, Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin is one of Emperor Palpatine’s top men, and one of the very few he considered indispensable, and the only one he trusted enough to put in charge of the top secret Death Star project. In this series, Tarkin’s major story arc is his rivalry with Moff Ghadi of Tangenine. Vocal performance should be as close to the original performance by Peter Cushing as possible: https://youtu.be/p0qLzsIhUMk?t=24s

  • “So you offer me valuable data, as well as the satisfaction of removing Moff Ghadi from the face of the galaxy. We haven’t yet talked about you. What do you get out of all this?”

  • “Interesting. Some would consider that a betrayal of their homeworld.”

  • “A fine ceremony. I’m glad I stopped by. Governor Arihnda Pryce sends her regards and her own congratulations.”
