Paella is a 5-episode animated comedy that is entering its second episode. This production is a part of the Chop 2 The Top OCT competition. The story follows Ducky, an amature detective in search of an ancient treasure, the Golden Paella. This treasure is said to be locked in the legendary Tower of Gobble, the holy land for all things food and cooking. Ducky must climb the unique floors of the tower and complete wacky food-related challenges in order to finally solve the mystery, as well as find her friend who disappeared looking for it.
The story will be told in 5-10 minute episodes, with a 2 month gap between each installment. If you don't fit any of the current characters, be sure to check back before the next installment to audition again.
Auditioners must be available to voice their characters until the end of July 2022, when the final episode premieres.
Auditions close January 15th.
Recording will begin immediately after and lines will need to be completed by January 22nd.

The mysterious friend Ducky has been searching for. Maur was a role model for Ducky because of her calm demeanor and wise sayings. Think of her as the calm, collected foil to Ducky's crazy personality. While Maur is a kind soul with a friendly personality, it seems that there's something suspicious about her that we don't know yet. We mostly see Maur in flashbacks of Ducky's past, but we may see her in person in future episodes.
Tone: Calm, collected, serious, kind, reserved
(Telling the story in a serious manner, as if telling a cautionary tale)
"Ducktective mystery number 14, the Killer Fisherman, status, unsolved. The killer has been known to follow those that cook delicious seafood, and strikes before they can take a bite. They're known for their fierce attacks, as well as the way they finish off their victims, by tying them up in fishing line"
(Angry)
"No! You don't understand! You don't know what I've been through to get here! You think the Ducktectives are just some fun group of mystery hunters? You don't think there's danger? If you saw the things I've seen then you'd be making the exact same decision!"
(Serious, sad)
"I'm sorry. I know this is important to you, but I can't come with you. I know how hard you've worked to get here, but I think it's time to give up."
Taro is a laid back, reserved, and somewhat morbid member of the Ducktectives. He always speaks slowly and is often mistaken for being bored. He tends to bring up the darker parts of mysteries, such as asking if they're going to die, or constantly bringing up negative outcomes. Despite this, he loves the Ducktectives and will always stick up for his friends. His morbid comments are often taken as jokes by his friends, and he likes it that way. Similar to Maur, he has a secret he's not willing to reveal.
Tone: Mellow, uninterested, nonchalant, droll (think L from Deathnote)
"So this guy just kills you if you eat seafood? Does he have a reason or... is he just crazy and loves killing people?"
"I'm sorry Ducky, Maur doesn't want to see you right now. I think...I think she doesn't want to see any of us...ever..."
(more serious than normal, almost angry sounding)
"This isn't about the Ducktectives, this is about you and me. You think you can just do this to me and get away with it? Do you know what we've worked for? Do you think that just because I'm laid back that I don't have aspirations, dreams? God, just try thinking for a second."
