Callie thinks that in the grand scheme of the worlds at large, she's nothing special. With the unexpected addition of friendship and adventure into her life, she's about to find out that she was very, very wrong.


To those who are unfamiliar with the comic, Nothing Special is a fantasy webcomic by Katie Cook, the story follows the teenager Callie Benson, seemingly ordinary girl... save for the fact her father is a daemon and has a portal that leads into the Spirit World, a world of magic and fantasy. While she's been there as a child, she's mostly grown up in the human realm. Though hasn't made much effort to make friends since she can see the spirits of dead plants. Things change when she meets a boy named Declan who just recently started seeing the spirits himself. Just as the two start bonding, however, Callie's father goes missing and the two find that he's been taken to the Spirit Realm. Declan and Callie set off to find him, along the way gaining new friends and finding out some surprising revelations.

This project is a non-profit fan-based  adapation of the Webtoon "Nothing Special". It will be a full production with voice acting and sound effects! If you plan on auditioning, I higly recommend reading the Webtoon first, however it is not required since we will be practicing the scripts in the discord server we will be having, so stay tuned for the update that will be coming soon! (However it's always good to get an idea of what the character's attitude should be before auditioning, so keep that in mind!)


Keep in mind if auditioning: 1. This is not a paid project, we are simply doing it for fun.

2. You are NOT required to use a professional microphone, as long as your voice is clear and there are no background noises

3. You must have both discord and an eMail account, I will need to recordings for the episodes through eMail and our main communication method will be discord.

4. These are the FIRST calls, we will be adding more characters in the future.

5. Ask yourself, "Am I willing to join an ongoing, long-term project? Will I be able to hand the recordings in time?" you will be required to send the recordings in time, and we'd also like you to stay for the future (if we decide to do a second season too.) However, you're only required to do the first season if auditioning.

    Hello everyone, over the past month we've received many auditions from many talented voice actors and actresses. Thank you all for the support and interest in the project. I'd like to announce that the casting for the main characters will start soon! Callie is protagonist of the story. Raised solely by her father, she grew up mostly in the human realm. Circumstances force her to go into the Spirit World where she finds out some interesting facts about herself and her family. Callie is a tomboy, Her stature usually has this distinction. She's not afraid to get rough if she has to. 


I want you to be able to play her both when she's a child and a teenager, since there are flashbacks in the beginning, and it starts off when Callie is still a young girl and not a teenager. 

  • Dad? Dad?! This stuff is still warm. He was just here... What... What happened?

    I don't... I... Declan... What do I do? 

  • (Child's Voice: YOUNG CALLIE) Icky!

    Things can be icky and still be neat... like bugs!

    I promise.

  • I don't need protection from them. 

    But, uh, can you make them keep their distance? It's hard to walk with a hundred of them clinging to my socks.

Declan is the secondary protagonist. Declan is a boy who's known Callie since kindergarten, though they haven't interacted until the start of the main story. Since turning 17, he's recently began to see spirit creatures himself and eventually manages to bond with Callie over it while trying to find out why exactly that is. 

  • Oh, Callie... Just... It'll be okay. Didn't you just tell me that necklace can find him?

    Now, how does this work? Let's find him.

  • What? No way, I'm coming too. I can help.

    Well, if you're in danger I'm definitely coming.

  • Hey, I had a very nice conversation with the spirit of a banana I had JUST eaten. I'm getting used to it.

A... Radish. Well the spirit of one that was eaten anyway. Callie and Declan meet him not long into their first journey. Having taken a liking to Callie, he proclaims himself as a "bodyguard" of sorts to her.

Although he's a male, I'd like to see him with different voices and maybe some sort of a feminine voice, maybe a raspy feminine voice (sort of a morning voice).

  • Ma'am's spirit is just STUNNING. (sigh) There's something about her that makes me want to conquer the world.

  • And if it is your wish that these puny serfs leave you be, then I will protect you from them. I will rise up and be your knight. I WILL SEND THEM TO H...

  • (Shatter) I CAN DO THAT!

A demon that Callie, Declan and Radish meet in their first quest. After discovering Callie's a Muse, he insists on tagging along as a guide, mostly so she'll use her power to help him as a favor. Over time though he does become a valued friend.
