"Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories" Voiceover
Project Overview
Help me dub an old Kingdom Hearts game! This is something I've been planning since November 2019, and I finally have all the scripts ready so now it's time to recruit people! You can audition for as many characters as you want, just as long as you're comfortable with them.
This project will be released in episodes that will likely be between 5-15 minutes in length each. Deadlines for VAs will be set based on which scenes are needed for the next episode, though I plan on making those deadlines fairly consistent.
Rules for auditioning:
1. You must have a decent quality microphone.
2. Record at least two takes of each line.
3. Leave at least three seconds of silence at the beginning of your audition. This is so I can check your background noise.
4. Confidence is key! Please do not start your audition with "This might sound bad but..." or something along those lines. You will not be considered. Believe in your own abilities and you'll have a much better chance (you'll probably have more fun that way too).
5. Your auditions do not necessarily have to match the voice of the character(s) you're trying out for. I am not looking for impressions necessarily. I am mainly looking for how well you capture the character's personality.
6. You can submit auditions via Casting Call Club, but you may also send me auditions via email or video audition. If you do either of the latter two options, please message me in the video description or in the comment section of the casting call. If you do a video audition, be sure to post the link in the comments.
7. By auditioning, you are acknowledging that you can and will take responsibility to have lines turned in by the deadlines that are set if you are casted. If something comes up that prevents this, please let me know as soon as possible so that we can work something out.
With that out of the way, good luck! I look forward to hearing your auditions!

Hello! If you've been following the project on YouTube, you know that the project is finally halfway to completion. We just finished Sora's half of the game, so now Riku's is up next. With that being said, I have decided to reopen two roles for this project, being Lexaeus and Zexion. I was initially the voice for both Lexaeus and Vexen, as well as the understudy for Zexion. However, since the VA for Zexion left the project, that means I would have to take over. Buuuuuut I don't want to voice three characters at once, especially since they all interact with each other frequently. I hardly got any auditions for either of these characters, but now that this project has gotten a little more reach, I feel more confident that I'll get some great auditions for these roles. The deadline to audition for Lexaeus and/or Zexion is TUESDAY, AUGUST 17. I will not consider any auditions after that. As before, you can submit auditions through CCC, YouTube (send link), or email. My email is [email protected] if you choose the last one. Good luck and have fun! TL;DR: Lexaeus and Zexion are open for auditions again. Please send auditions through CCC, YouTube, or email by Tuesday, August 17.

Deadline/Results
The deadline is Saturday the 25th (I realize I made a mistake in that previous update). Thank you to everyone who auditioned, I certainly didn’t expect to get over 100. That’s just crazy for me! Anyway, I have already started making the results video. If anyone is coming across the project in these last 24 hours, don’t be discouraged. Nothing is final until the deadline passes, so keep auditioning if you want. I will try to have the results video posted on April 26 or 27. Once that is posted, I will begin inviting the voice actors and the understudies to the project’s Discord server. See you then! -
Deadline halfway point
Hey everyone. First off I wanna give a big thank you to everyone who has auditioned so far. I've heard a ton of great voices and I know that once this Casting Call is over and I've picked out the voices, this project will turn out to be spectacular. Anyway, on to the beef of this update. As of the day I'm posting this, there's exactly two weeks left to submit auditions. If any of y'all have friends who also wanted to audition, they still have time but the clock is ticking. I was considering shortening the deadline since I'm excited to get this thing off the ground, but... well, I mean, I got over 70 auditions according to CCC, which is far more than I expected to get, and like I said, I've gotten a lot of great auditions. Some of these roles are gonna be really tough to decide. With that being said, I decided a while back that I'm not gonna be the only one picking these roles. I and a selection of other people (an organization if you will) will begin selecting some of the roles about a week before the deadline. This will be a tentative selection of course. No final decisions will be made until the casting call has actually closed. I've already hand-picked the best auditions from each role, narrowing it down basically, but there's no way I can pick just one person on my own. Anyway, I'll see y'all in two weeks on April 26th. When that date is reached, I'll do my best to get a results video put up as soon as possible! See you then.
Sora has a brave and heroic personality, meaning he will willingly risk his life even for people he barely knows. He is extremely loyal to his friends. Sora is an eternal optimist, always looking on the bright side of the situation at hand. Although he can be simple-minded at times, he has a strong sense of justice.
Goofy was telling us about another castle we’d been to… but none of us really… remembers it. Do ya think… Could it be that we don’t remember because we’re losing our memories?
(teasing Donald) But when I turned into a Heartless, who was the one who took forever to notice and kept clobbering me?
May your heart be your guiding key.
Oftentimes Goofy is the voice of reason for Sora and his companions, and is also amazingly calm and cheerful, retaining his composure when Sora and Donald are completely undone. He has also proved on occasion to have more common sense than the two. However, there have been instances where Goofy lives up to his name through his clumsiness, and occasionally he has trouble pronouncing words.
(looking on the bright side) Aw, you shouldn’t be worryin’ none! If it’s been coming back to you in pieces… You’re sure to remember her name just like everything else!
Good point. I guess if we heard that the king was in danger, we would be pretty upset about that, too.
May your heart be your guiding key.
Donald is the most aggressive of the group. Though he has mastered spells, Donald is very reckless and is the comic relief in many Kingdom Hearts games. Initially, he and Sora often argued, but in the end they develop a deep friendship. Donald is also very protective over Goofy and King Mickey as he is the most worried in Castle Oblivion when he fears he will forget Mickey, and when Goofy presumably dies in Kingdom Hearts II, he flies into a rage and destroys many Heartless. Despite Donald’s short-tempered and impatient nature, he is actually goodhearted, and would sacrifice anything for the sake of friendship.

Something’s screwy. Journal pages don’t just vanish!
(miffed) How come you didn’t forget about that?! (starts spouting angry gibberish)
May your heart be your guiding key.
Jiminy was assigned by the Blue Fairy to be Pinocchio’s conscience due to the boy being too young to know the difference between right and wrong. Unfortunately, the Heartless destroyed their world, which caused them to become separated. In Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, Jiminy serves as a scribe for Sora, Donald, and Goofy as he records all of their experiences, and also continues his duty as a conscience for the group.
(examining a card) Hmm. Kinda looks like the card you used... when you made Traverse Town.
(a little worried) Well ya see, what Axel said back there worries me. What could he have meant by “you may no longer be who you are”?
How could this have happened? I’m so careful with the journals! (starts to sob) All that hard work is gone…
Marluxia is quite deceptive and manipulative in nature, as he makes an attempt to rebel against the Organization by using Sora as a puppet to accomplish his goals. He is often portrayed as very arrogant and vain. Like Xemnas in Kingdom Hearts II, Marluxia has a habit of being overly dramatic and giving long speeches. He also takes great pride in his appearance, flourishing his weapon after he strikes with it. It seems that from his tone of voice, which is dull and monotone, that Marluxia doesn’t pretend to have emotions, making him similar to Xemnas or Saïx. However, he has shown to smirk and laugh at some points.
(monotone) I should think it’s obvious. The moment you set foot in this castle, you forgot every spell and every ability you ever knew. In this place, to find is to lose, and to lose is to find. That is the way in Castle Oblivion.
(still as monotone as ever) Vexen, the simple fact is that your project was a failure. You’d best not disappoint us again.
I’ve been entrusted this castle and Naminé by our leader. Defying me will be seen as treason... against the Organization.
During Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, Axel has a mysterious, stoic, and calm, as well as cold, unforgiving, and merciless demeanor on par with that of Marluxia. He seems quite distant at times during his time in Castle Oblivion, ignoring Vexen’s insults and almost completely unfazed by Larxene’s flirtatious behavior towards him.
(slightly dramatic) My show now, Keyblade master. Who am I? Oh my name’s Axel. Got it memorized?
Good, you’re a quick learner. So Sora, now that we’re getting to know each other better… (cocky) Don’t you go off and die on me now.
May your heart be your guiding key.
Although Larxene is normally smiling, she can be undoubtedly cold, ruthless, and uncaring, and appears to love nothing more than to bring people down. She has sharp wit and sardonic remarks ready to spite others. Her jokes tend to be more ill-humored as well, enabling anyone to successfully get irritated, and sometimes if pushed far enough, yell or charge at her in anger, a reaction which she seems to find humorous. Along with the callousness, however, she oddly displays childish and playful behavior, laughing and giggling excessively. Laid back and almost passive to those she likes (or refers to as good company), Larxene expresses herself in a dramatized manner, constantly making outrageous statements and hand movements. She taunts Vexen incessantly and toys with Sora before fighting him the first time.
(coldly) I know that you’re in on it, too… But keep it under your hood, at least until the time is right.
(acting like a disappointed parent) Although… it seems that you’re still forgetting the most important thing here. (pretends to become sad and a little dramatic) When that poor girl hears you’ve forgotten her name, why… it’ll… it’ll break her heart.
(cocky) Although... I’M a bad guy, so you’ll have to go through me!
Vexen approaches problems like an intellectual, with a hypothesis and a method to test those hypotheses. Appearing very much like a typical “mad scientist”, Vexen views life as a grand experiment. More than any other member, save Xemnas, he considers his numerical rank a literal one and often derides members with lower numerical rankings than his. Vexen is often chastised by others for this behavior. Vexen is also cowardly and displays a fear of Xemnas, immediately bowing to Marluxia’s demand to destroy Sora when Marluxia threatens to tell Xemnas of the failure of the Riku Replica.
(slightly scolding) How could you be humbled by someone of such limited significance? You shame the Organization.
I came to lend you a hand. (doubting) You obviously believe this Sora has much potential, but I remain unconvinced he is truly worth such coddling. (getting slightly sinister) I think an experiment would show if he is really of any value to us.
Hmph. You should just learn to be quiet.
Due to the unusual nature of her birth, Naminé was born without memories. As a result, she had no basis of free will, and simply followed the orders of whoever was close to her, effectively making her very submissive, quiet, and fragile in personality. During her time in Castle Oblivion, Naminé begins exhibiting the capacity for emotions. In fact, she later reveals that she used her powers to draw Sora to Castle Oblivion and manipulate his memories due to loneliness because she was isolated for so long. Upon realizing her misdeeds, Naminé becomes guilt-ridden and eventually rebels against her captors to help Sora and his friends. She displays genuine remorse for what she has done to Sora and co., and willingly puts herself in harm’s way to protect Sora from Larxene. Her determination and desire to take responsibility for her actions also led her to defy Marluxia’s orders to destroy Sora’s heart, despite being threatened by the former.
(worried while speaking softly) Sora... even if you come for me... what then?
(happy) Sora… Thank you. (remorseful) And I’m sorry. I’m not supposed to be in this picture.
(reassuring) Think, Sora. Think just one more time. About who’s most special to you. Call out to that piece of memory… that glimmers faintly deep inside your heart. No matter how far away the light gets, your heart’s voice will always reach it.
(These two roles have the same voice, so they will be played by the same person. These lines listed are not conversations, they are separate from each other.)
Riku: Riku is a calm, cool, collected teenager who is not afraid to go beyond his limits. In Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, Riku makes many self-realizations, one of which is that he had let his heart become weak, and sometime after that, he would shy away from the darkness within it. Through his battles in Castle Oblivion, he makes another big realization: he can’t get rid of the darkness in his heart, and decides to use it without turning away from the light like before, declaring his path down the “road to dawn”, also signifying his effort for redemption. Additionally, he forms a strong bond with Mickey during their time together in Castle Oblivion, and later begins to address him familiarly throughout the rest of the series.
Riku Replica: Created by Vexen, this replica is much more aggressive and protective than the original Riku, which is exactly what Xehanort’s Heartless was looking for. This version of Riku embraces the darkness and wields it very effectively. Like Sora, he seems to get angry when confused, as shown when the Organization members such as Larxene tried to trick him. At the end of his life, the replica became much more like the original, sullen and mellow. He often lashed out at anyone who talked back to him, even if they overpowered him.
(Riku) (miffed) You again. Sorry, but these memories I could do without. Maleficent gave me this room.
(Riku Replica) Surprised? I guess you should be. After all, I look just like you.(Riku) Just one card left. If I get through this, will I be free of the darkness?
(Riku Replica) (cocky) You’re afraid of the dark. The darkness inside you still frightens you, no matter what you say.May your heart be your guiding key.
As king of Disney Castle, Mickey is responsible and dutiful. He commands the respect and loyalty of his subjects, especially Donald and Goofy. Mickey is very friendly and loyal, always thinking positively. He is always ready to help his friends and tries to protect them at any cost, and also tries to keep the promises he makes to them. When he sees his friends get hurt, he becomes surprisingly serious and angry, such as when Goofy appears to be dead in Kingdom Hearts II.
(strongly supportive) Listen, Riku. Just because darkness holds you, don’t let go of who you are. You’ve got to fight the darkness inside you! It won’t be easy, I know. But please don’t forget. Even in the darkest darkness, there’s always a little bit of light.
Gosh, Riku, I know you wanted to do it alone… but ya don't mind gettin’ a LITTLE help, do ya?
May your heart be your guiding key.
Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, is cold, calculating, and utterly ruthless. He treats people and their hearts as either tools to be manipulated and disposed of, or as cattle for his ravenous Heartless legions. He reveres power and knowledge above all things, and he despises ignorance. The only times when Ansem’s voice rises above a cold, monotonous drone is when he berates Sora for his foolishness, or when reveling in his latest triumph. However, Ansem’s scientific genius is blinded by his obsession with darkness. He also does not fight hand-to-hand. He prefers to use his dark powers or the One Behind.
The things you remember from your time at Maleficent’s castle became a card, and that card made this world. You’ve seen everything here before, haven’t you?
(groans in intense frustration) Must you interfere again?!
(weakly) This… is hardly… the end… (groans in pain) Your darkness - I gave it… all to you… My dark shadow… lingers… Someday… Someday… I will return!
Lexaeus is intelligent and laconic, only speaking when he finds it necessary. Though a warrior by nature, he has no qualms with biding his time and planning things accordingly. He does, however, prefer a more practical approach to things. Lexaeus highly respects power in all forms, especially his own. He acknowledges the power of darkness, considering it at least equal in power of light. He is incredibly loyal to Zexion, and finds him to be the only member of Organization XIII that he can trust. Conversely, he is very mistrustful of other members, claiming they all hide secrets from each other.
Zexion, tell us. What did you detect?
Our problem is Sora. Vexen proved to be no match for him, yet he’s still under Naminé’s control.
(fierce and gravely voice) I, Lexaeus, will not yield to the frail heart… of an infantile coward! Now, stop resisting… and let the darkness in!
As a Nobody, Zexion appears as a calm and collected individual that shows little emotions, although he is sometimes seen smirking or grinning. Unlike the other Organization XIII members, he conducts his tasks in a veil of secrecy, suggesting an enigmatic sort of persona. Zexion also holds a fondness for literature and the humanities, which is noticed in the weapons he utilizes and his manner of speech when speaking to other members. Zexion has an undying sense of duty to the Organization, and goes to almost any length to ensure the success of his missions. At times, he can also be humorous and jest with the other members when the moment shows itself.
(sarcastic) Nice to see you too, Vexen. (shakes his head, getting serious) It’s such a shame. The Organization used to be the rope that bound us together.
(clearly annoyed but not showing it) If you would let me finish. The scent belonged not to the real Maleficent but to a very convincing double. But I truly cannot say much more beyond that since the double is no more. Our other visitor saw to that.
(speaking harshly to Riku) All of the islands you grew up on were sundered, scattered. Many hearts were forever lost to the darkness. (points) Because of what YOU did!
DiZ is the one who awakened Riku from his rest between realms and led Riku through Castle Oblivion on his quest to overcome the darkness. He is genuinely interested in helping Riku and Sora, giving Riku a black coat to keep him undetected from Organization XIII and also knowing Sora is the key to putting an end to the Organization. As both DiZ and Ansem the Wise, he is a wise sage. He does have some selfish tendencies and motives, but in the end he truly means well for Sora and Riku.
(introducing himself to Riku) DiZ, or so I am known. You - I’ve watched you all along.
You are a special entity. You exist between light and dark. You stand in the twilight. You are to meet Naminé, then choose.
May your heart be your guiding key.
Maleficent is a scheming, manipulative, and cunning sorceress who seems utterly determined to take over the dominion of Kingdom Hearts. She is mostly seen in a cool, calculated manner, easily manipulating Riku into helping her aims, claiming she views him like a long lost son, while she pretends to care about helping him find Kairi. Maleficent is a very dramatic villain, often shouting at the heroes about the power of darkness and making eccentric speeches.
You haven’t been paying attention. I am but a figment of your memory.
Be grateful you have someone to keep you company. Your heart is empty. Were it not for the darkness it contains, you would be completely alone.
Then you mustn’t forget to destroy yourself last. For, like me, you are one of the dark.
Kairi is generally caring, kindhearted, and not afraid to speak her mind. She’s usually always very caring and upbeat. She is loyal and headstrong, and she can be rather stubborn sometimes. She is determined and courageous when someone she cares about is in danger, and her bravery can be somewhat reckless. Often she will risk her own safety to help her friends when they’re in trouble.
(softly and with assurance) You won’t fade. You can’t fade. There’s no power that can defeat you - not the light, not the dark. So don’t run from the light - and don’t fear the darkness. Because both will make you stronger.
Follow the darkness. It’ll show you the way to your friends.
May your heart be your guiding key.
