Intermine Origins: Life and Death
Project Overview
DISCLAIMER — As much as I would LOVE to be able to offer some kind of compensation, I cannot. I hope to someday be in a position to do this, but alas today is not that day. If this is a deal-breaker for you, I fully understand and I wish you the best with all your future endeavors.
Intermine Laboratories may be where The Intermine Legacy began, but where ... and how ... did Intermine Laboratories begin?
Intermine Origins: Life and Death follows Michael Graham, a child who's forced to carry the weight of the world when his family is murdered, all in one night. In his lowest moment, Graham turns to a friend, Matthew and his mother Elizabeth to help put his world back together again. However, hidden in the backdrop, a group of malicious entities called the Rovers are plotting to finish what they started ...
Life and Death is a direct prequel to the events of The Intermine Legacy: I am the Darkness. THAT SAID, since the last time we tried making that series a reality, a lot has changed in relation to Michael Graham, so it may not make a lot of sense if you go back and listen to that. I just didn't want to have our first project (yet again) be another adaptation of the first part of the story, so I decided to go in an alternate route.
It will be a total of four episodes, and I intend on releasing them via our eventual website and on YouTube on a weekly basis. I would like to wait until we've completed all four episodes before naming a specific release date, however.
If any / all of this sounds fun to you, I strongly encourage you to submit an audition. I am very glad to be back at this audio drama game, and I very much look forward to hearing all of your amazing voices!

AUDITIONS ARE CLOSED~
It's simply an honor to see the exceptional response to this project. I am very humbled that you all wanted to become part of my universe. I have a difficult task to accomplish now, and that is figuring out who will be bringing these characters to life. I asked y'all to give me a hard time, and you all answered the call. I count an approximate total of 58 people auditioned across Casting Call Club, Voice Acting Club and Behind the Voice Actors, and ... I'm blown away. I look forward to getting the cast decided by Sunday at the latest if I don't go insane and figure it all out by Saturday. We'll see. Until then, James
Michael Graham will someday create Intermine Laboratories, but for now he's just a child who's lost everything and everyone he's ever known.
I am looking for someone who can convincingly portray an early teenager (around 12 - 13 years of age) for this role. SO, slightly whiny, moody and angsty should be easy places for your voice to go. Michael's teenage self isn't a leading role because after the first episode there is a time skip, but I will still be casting his younger and older self together to maintain consistency. I do not mean I am seeking to cast his younger and older self to the same actor — I will just be making the decision back-to-back. I want these roles to really feel like it's someone who was young, and has since grown up.
I will allow both male and female actors to try out for this role. If you think you can nail what I'm looking for, I urge you to give it your best shot.
(is being told he needs to create a new sense of normalcy if he ever hopes to recover from the death of his family, and is ... well, he's rather offended) Normalcy? There's no such thing. Not for me.
(is being told about a specialty candy bar that's got Anchovies and Spinach cooked right into the chocolate) You're joking, right? Surely, that's not real.
(is holding his sister's body in his arms, begging her to keep breathing)
Save your energy! I'm taking you to a hospital!

I am looking for someone who can convincingly portray a young adult (around 16 to 18 years of age) for this role. As this is the older version of Graham, it should maintain the angst from his younger self, and feel free to turn up the blank, self hatred to 11 if you'd like. Michael's older self is a leading role, and will have QUITE A LOT of narration through the series, as well as regular lines after the time skip.
(narrating) Mortar (/ˈmôrdər/) Square. It brought back memories I'd rather forget. I'd guess I was the only person who felt that way, though.
(narrating) I didn't want pity. I didn't deserve it. In hindsight, I should've known better than to think people would ignore me.
(narrating) I sat there, in my old house, with Louisa's decaying corpse locked in my arms for what felt like hours, but it was probably more like ten or fifteen minutes. I knew one place I could go, but ... I questioned whether or not I wanted to spread that despair.
Matthew McPherson will someday become Graham's partner in crime, but for now he's just a child learning to handle something ... not of this world.

Besides! If anyone tries to take you away, I'll protect you!
Fine - I'll just pick for you. I've heard there's a bar with Anchovies and Spinach cooked right into the chocolate.
Matthew McPherson will someday become Graham's partner in crime, but for now he's just a child learning to handle something ... not of this world.
I am looking for someone who can convincingly portray a young adult (around 16-18 years of age) for this role. Matthew has grown up a little bit differently than Michael has, and as such he's almost a different person than he was when he was younger. Matthew is a leading role from the second episode onward, and will appear in future projects, so if you audition for him please be prepared for that, if cast.
(is trying to calm Michael down, handing him a beer)
I can tell you're worried, but you need to calm down. Drink.(referring to his mother being hurt emotionally by Michael's actions)
Mike. I know what you mean, but she's really hurt.(trying to let Michael down easy)
Maybe. Maybe not. I don't wanna be the one to tell you this, but she might be ...
Joseph McPherson will someday become the Lumen hero who does battle against the Tenebrae, but for now, he's just a spoiled child.
I am looking for someone who can convincingly portray a child (around 6-10 years of age) for this role. Joseph's child self doesn't appear much, but it's important that we make his presence clear, as he is the youngest member of the McPherson clan.
I will allow both male and female actors to try out for this role. If you think you can nail what I'm looking for, I urge you to give it your best shot.
JOSEPH, still asleep, makes a noise that could be interpreted as affirmation.
(Matthew and Michael are being allowed to go off on their own, but he's not)
But, Mom! I wanna go, too!
Joseph McPherson will someday become the Lumen hero who does battle against the Tenebrae, but for now, he's just a spoiled child.
I am looking for someone who can convincingly portray an early teenager (around 10-13 years of age) for this role. If you are cast as his child self, there's a chance I may ask you to also voice his teen self, if it's within your range. It won't be much different, just enough to establish he's older than he was before the time skip.
I uh ... I think I know where the Rovers are hanging out nowadays.
I overheard some kids at school saying their siblings were being initiated into the Rovers.
I'm sorry; all I know is, those kids said their siblings had to go to West Mortar for the initiation.
Elizabeth McPherson is a newly transplanted member of the District of Mortar, but still has horrid flashbacks of a war and family she's long abandoned. For now, though, she's the person Michael, Matthew and Joseph all look to for guidance, and she does her best to live up to her new role.
I would like someone who can convincingly portray an adult mother, so I encourage anyone whose voice fits well in the older area of the spectrum. If you have a younger voice, please audition as well — you may end up surprising me.
(scolding) Jo, don't whine. You'll lose your voice if you do.
(melancholic) I know what it's like to not have anyone left.
(reassuring) I know how it can be. I went through it myself, y'know.
It's one of the police officers who helps after the death of Michael's family.
I will allow both Male and Female actors to audition for this role, as their gender is not cemented in the story.
Mr. Graham. I apologize for making you wait all this time. I've sent a couple officers to the scene to verify your story and ... it looks like you're telling the truth.
Do you have any family left, son?
Uh ... I don't see why not. Sorry, I'm just surprised, is all.

Mr. Graham, we're sorry for your losses. Ms. McPherson, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Louisa Graham is the matriarch of the Graham household, though she's the first daughter of Chris Graham.
I am in need of someone who can convincingly portray an early twenty-something who is experiencing traumatic circumstances involving the murder of her entire family.
You know he's already gone?
I guess great minds think alike.
I was gonna live with you. I was gonna learn to tolerate you. I hated seeing how he treated you. If I spoke up, I knew he'd be extra rough with me, so I learned to shut up.
Janice Vincent is someone who came barging into Michael Graham's life, and changed it forever.
I am looking for someone who can convincingly portray an early teenager (around 12 - 13 years of age) for this role. Janice's teenage self isn't a leading role because after the first episode there is a time skip, but I will still be casting her younger and older self together to maintain consistency. I would like to cast her teenage self and young adult self to the same actor if I can find the right match.
Hi! Can I sit with you?
I moved into town the other day, but I haven't seen you at school. I'm Janice! What's your name?
Janice Vincent is someone who came barging into Michael Graham's life, and changed it forever.
I am looking for someone who can convincingly portray a young adult (around 16 to 18 years of age) for this role. Janice is ... well, the best way to describe her is by saying she's the kind of person who doesn't beat around the bush. She 'tells it like it is,' for lack of a better term. It's one of the reasons Michael has fallen so deeply in love with her.
If those are our options, then I say we fight. I mean, it can't be worse than y'all going into enemy territory on a desperate quest to save me from certain doom, can it?
Hm. I guess so. I just wanted to make sure we're really exploring all our options, here.
(annoyed) I have a name, asshole.
Piggy is the (affectionate) name given to the proprietor of the Caddy Shack Chocolatier, because ... he looks kind of like a pig.
I envision him having a voice not entirely unlike that of the stereotypical 'ma and pa' store owners, if that makes sense. I am leaving this largely up to you, so be creative. It's one line, so do your best.
OH! If it isn't Matthew, and ... oh ... is that Michael Graham? How're you doing, champ?
Rovers are a legion of lawless criminals who roam the District of Mortar and surrounding areas, committing robberies and murders to their hearts content. I will be casting several of these Rovers, so I encourage people of all voice types to audition.
I can't believe you were so rough with him.
It's not me you're gonna have to apologize to if he dies here.
I guess sleeping beauty's awake? Ya know, I was hoping you'd come to, but I'll tell ya — I was ready and willing to administer true love's kiss, if you get my drift.
Lem Hayworth is an information broker who operates out of the District of Mortar.
If I could compare him to any kind of already existing character, it'd be Izaya Orihara from Durarara!! I want him to be the kind of character who, normally would only be helping our heroes because of what was in it for him, and in this case there's a personal reason for him to be involved.
I have my sources. I hear you're having yourself a Rover problem?
I wouldn't normally risk my neck to help. Rovers are a frightening bunch if you're not their friends.
I'm writing a name for you. It's the name of the nearest Rovers recruiter. He usually hangs out at the high school. Tell him you want to join, and for the love of God, don't tell him your real names.
I would like some help putting the episodes together. If anyone is willing to join our team as an engineer, please submit some recent examples of your work. Thanks!
