DEADLINE UPDATE
I have pushed back the deadline, due to health concerns. I don't plan on abandoning the project, but I would like to give myself time to heal. Thank you for understanding! :)
Excicium: Leaving Sol - PILOT
Sci-fi Podcast seriesEarth is dying. Humans have an estimate of 110 years before resources are depleted. Wars have ravished the Earth, leaving it in a crumpled heap of ash. Leaders from all over Earth have convened, and the situation's severity is dire. They don’t have time. The solution? There is none. Earth soon won’t be able to nourish life as it once did. Humans abused her until she could no longer take it anymore.
The 411....or the details
Not all characters appear in every episode! Some only appear in the first episode, and that is it. I will note that in the character descriptions.
I plan for each "Season" to be a different period set in this world.
Some roles don't have a name on this, for plot purposes. I don't want their name revealed just yet!
I do all the writing, and artwork myself. As of now, I don't have plans to hire more writers or artists, as I don't have the budget for it.
This project is entirely self-funded by me out of pocket. I plan on crowdfunding for future episodes as well (I would love to bring on more crew!) Rates are $3 per line.
I plan on releasing the podcast on multiple platforms!
Once the pilot is completed I will be starting up the Kickstarter campaign, along with marketing, making a website, etc.
There is a chance this may not take off and I wanted to be forward about that!
The artwork of characters is drawn by me on Procreate.
Be 18+ as the characters are 18+. This also deals with mature content. Nothing sexual in nature, more like swearing and violence. When it comes to violence, nothing is overly gory or explained in full detail.
Feel free to audition for multiple characters if interested!
Any format is fine, ABC/ABC or AABBCC. No more than 2 takes and no slating. Voices should be more natural, not cartoony.
Make sure no background noise, hums, clicks, etc.
USB mics are permitted, but make sure it sounds good! Prefer XLR.
I don't require Discord, but if you have it, you can join the server (This will be made later). As long as the lines are delivered on time, I don't mind how they are sent. You can send them via Discord or email, which I will provide if asked.
I won't be casting before the audition deadline. Once the deadline is closed, I will take a few weeks to go through all auditions.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me on CCC or Discord @LunarLion14
IF CAST:
I will provide a contract to protect both you and me. It is built from the contract recommended by the Voice Acting Club and I have included the NAVA anti-AI rider
I will not use AI in any of my work. I also expect that VAs will NOT use AI in their Audition.
If chosen please do not share the script. An NDA will be required. Spoilers will certainly ruin it all.
Once casting and the contracts are signed I will provide the scripts for each character, with instructions.
Once you obtain the script, you have 30 days to turn in the lines.
I have pushed back the deadline, due to health concerns. I don't plan on abandoning the project, but I would like to give myself time to heal. Thank you for understanding! :)
Age: 38
Summary:
"It’s a long shot, but we have no other solution. This is our only shot at saving humanity."
"This in a sense is a portal. We have no idea how far this system is or where it is located in relation to Sol."
"I did. I advised my team to interrupt me if an important discovery was made."
AGE: 24
Summary:
(excited, nervous) “Dr. Donovan!” (Jade swallows, nervous) “I stumbled upon this - an irregularity, near Gaia BH1.”
“There is an irregularity in Gaia BH1, a black hole, located about 1,560 light-years away from Earth in the constellation of Ophiuchus.”
Age: 36
Summary:
Line 1: Contemplating, skeptical as he speaks to Dr. Benson
Line 2: He is demanding, this line should be blunt and sound authoritative
Line 3: Speaking to world leaders. He starts off speaking authoritatively and ends with a bit of a cold voice (warning those who do not join)
I don't think it ethical or wise to cryo an infant...
I didn't ask, you are being ordered.
We need to form the UGC. This will help us move forward as a whole. As one. As humanity and nothing more. We need to survive. (beat) Anyone who does not sign will be left behind.
This AI is not named yet for plot purposes!
This AI will appear throughout the season. They have 12 lines in the pilot episode.
Their voice isn't like the other Zenith Lab AIs. They have more emotion behind it and are not as flat. Still lacks full emotion, but not as monotone. They are very inquisitive. They have an air of mystery about them as well.
Line 1: Talking to their creator, truly means these words
Line 2: Response when asked what their mission is, thoughtful, confident
Line 3: Response when asked if systems are running as programmed
"You can trust me, as I trust you, friend."
"It is paramount to the mission, human safety. This is in compliance with my mission."
"I sense no irregularities."
They appear only in the first Episode and they have 6 lines. They are speaking to Dr. Benson.
Line 1: Frustrated, just wants the Doc to finish their work
Line 2: Angry and upset, a bit scared
“I don’t want to hear it. I understand the risks, but we have no choice.”
"You think you are better than everyone else, don't you? Being the creator of AI, you believe it your right to save your family. What about the rest of us? We have to pray and hope we are picked at random?"
This is a very minor role and only appears at the start of the episode and one line in the middle. They have a total of 3 lines.
They are in a heated argument with the USA rep.
"I am not bloody budging on this matter. This theory is a shot in the dark, I am not risking the lives of my people for some pipe dream!"
This AI has a very small role, only a couple of lines. Their voice is monotone, flat. Not completely robotic sounding, more like an Alexa device. They have 5 lines in total.
Apologies Dr. Benson. Protocol states we can’t wake the entire crew until you have analyzed the data
This will help with acclamation. The water will hydrate
Dr. Benson, we have arrived
This is a very minor role, and only shows up in the beginning of the episode.
They are in a heated argument with the UK Rep. They have a total of three lines.
"This is why we need to be led under one. To stop countries like yours from hoarding everything. We need to move together as a whole!"
