Dead By Daylight Animated Series Pilot (Animated/Animatic) - Looking for VAs and other production roles

Project Overview

IMPORTANT: Not all roles are included within the casting call. The script is still being changed and written as we speak, and the casting call will reflect the necessity for more VAs as it continues to be.

Hey there! My name is Martin Camacho. Filmmaking has been a huge part of my life for a couple years now, and this project is meant to elevate that love to a whole new level: a potential series about one of my favorite multiplayer games. Dead by Daylight has always intrigued me in terms of the story potential it presents, and I've always had the idea of acting on that desire sort of lingering in my head. This is the actualization of that. So, what exactly is this all about?

What will this be?

Ideally, this would become a fully fledged gradually released animated series based loosely on the story and characters of Dead by Daylight. However, for now we're just focusing on getting a short pilot/proof of concept off the ground to truly see if the interest is there to go full steam ahead.

How can you help?

Right now, the roles available are various VA roles for the pilot, storyboard artists, and story advisors. Story advisors would help me clean up the script for the pilot a bit, as well as make sure that, while we are willing to take creative liberties with the characters, we aren't straying too far from the source material. There's a concept artist role you can apply for as well, however this would mostly be utilized more hopefully if the series is able to, once again, go "full steam ahead". All of these roles and more will be expanded if and when we go ful-ah, I think you get the gist at this point.

Cool, so what's it about..and why are you the right person for this project?

Good questions all around, me. This series will revolve around Dwight, a mid-20's nerdy office worker who after an office retreat goes awry is sent into The Fog, and plunged into the Dead by Daylight experience. The whole story is framed around two police officers finding Dwight after the aforementioned experience, almost 40 years after he went missing. I know this all sounds a bit vague, and I know with these ambitious projects a lot of the times it's hard to believe it'll ever happen. I've been making films since I was in middle school, and I've had a lot of experiences, failures, and learnings in that time. While this is definitely gonna be a lot of work for me, I do believe I can manage and do it and at the very least produce a damn good pilot.

Nice, I trust you very much now. Here's my credit card number. Also, how exactly do I apply?

VA roles can be applied to normally within the Casting Call Club service, however the production roles I mentioned before can be applied to through a separate Google Form.

Different roles will be added as needed and as the script evolves and changes (although it's mostly finished by this point). Anyhow, that's all I gotta say on my part. Into the Fog we go!

If you want to contact me directly, the quickest way to reach me is through discord or email. Feel free to do so with ANY questions, as this casting call and project is constantly changing and evolving:

  • New casting call!

Hey guys! I've loved the initial response to the casting call so far! However, I'm going to be making a new one, just so I can feature it and maybe get a little more traction on it! Thanks for all the support thus far guys

(from the DBD wiki): Dwight isn't the typical guy you think of when someone says "Survivor". He lacks that certain pizzazz and without his glasses, he's more or less blind. But as the sun sets and the woods come alive, Dwight clasps to his rat race life, making sure that he'll live to see another day even though something unimaginable is after him. Dwight won't stop. He'll survive no matter what. As others spent hours being seen in high school. He spent hours becoming invisible and avoiding danger. And it doesn't matter if it's dangers in the hallway or dangers in the woods. Survival is key. As other employees panic when terror infects them, Dwight makes use of his disturbing teen experience. The tables have now turned and now others need to follow to Dwight's firm directions if they are to survive as he knows how to disappear.

In terms of the actual voice, I'm very open to the interpretation you'd like to give. Obviously, I want his voice to have some sort of tone of weakness, maybe even nerdiness, however I don't want to caricaturize that aspect of his character.

While it might not be super helpful, here's his voice lines from the game to maybe get a point of reference for the deepness of his voice or something along those lines:

  • [Beginning to tell your story to the police officer] It was...rainy, I guess? The firm was having a “employee getaway”, which, you know, is the first I’d heard of us doing anything like that.

  • [Very nervously trying to justify the situation you've been found in to the officers, even though it sounds absurd] Listen Officer, I-i know this seems super out of the ordinary or whatever you wanna call it but, I assure you, just let me get my story out there to you guys, and It’ll all make sense, it’ll all be clear. I mean, I'm not crazy I swear!

  • [Running away from the killer, various remarks like "Oh, shit", panting, grunts, all that jazz. Especially for the pilot, there's a lot of this since Dwight's on his own...for now.]

Bryan Donovan is an older man, having worked in a police station in some middle of nowhere town for who knows how long. While he's content with the passive lifestyle he leads, it'd be bold to assume he isn't ready for whatever challenges he faces. In terms of voice, I think the best points of reference would be actors like Bryan Cranston and David Harbour: voices that sound a bit older, but clearly indicate they're out completely out of their prime just yet. Bryan Donovan will be a very important recurring character throughout the series.

  • So, Dwight, you mind giving us a bit of an explanation as to where you’ve been for, oh I don’t know, the last couple of decades. Took a wrong turn on the freeway I'd presume?

  • Nothing is gonna go back to the way that it was. Not really. But it’ll get better. In time.

  • Yes, James, I know EXACTLY how insane it sounds, I KNOW. But you try and give me a goddamn explanation as to how the hell this guy comes back untouched and unaged in a 30 year timespan and I'll be glad to drop the whole thing.

A young, inexperienced officer who is the one to find Dwight after his 40 year disappearance. Still getting into the rhythm of things, James still has a good amount of confidence he has what it takes to be on the force in a town so uneventful. However, Dwight's reappearance makes him bring into question what exactly he's capable of, and what exactly Dwight's story could mean for his very existence. For James, I imagine a voice similar to Andrew Garfield or Jesse Eisenberg, very clearly a younger voice, and it almost sounds like they're trying to hold back a wave of nausea or nervousness (this is a lot more evident in Eisenberg's voice especially). However, once again, I'm open to your take!

  • So this guy comes running in here like a maniac about an hour ago, just frantic, going “I need to talk to someone. I need to talk to someone.” We wrote him off as some hobo who’d just gotten his fix at first, but then we ID-ed him and...

  • So I guess this is where I tell you what I learned – my conclusion, right? Well, my conclusion is: Hate is baggage. Life’s too short to be pissed off all the time. It’s just not worth it.

  • It’s this whole gung-ho super-organism thing that, that, you know, I can’t get, I try, but I can’t get it. I mean you know, what is it, I’m supposed to do everything for the colony, and, and what about my needs? What about me? I mean, I gotta believe there’s someplace out there that’s better than this! Otherwise, I 'll just...[sigh] I don't know...
