Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly [Game Demo]
Project Overview
| THIS IS A PAID PROJECT |
Hey all!
I'm Matthew, but also known commonly as PikaPikaGamer here on the internet. I've worked with awesome604 in the creation of the Coffee Talk Game Dub. I've had a strong passion for this game ever since its original release in 2020. And now, it's getting a sequel! Planned to release in 2023. As for right now, I'm only here to voice the short demo that has been released. But I absolutely plan on voicing the whole game after its release.
Currently, only two new characters have been announced for this game, and of course all the previous characters are scheduled to make a return, which they have already been cast for. But please understand, that even though this is a relatively short project, once the game releases and the characters are provided with more lines, then I'll be contacting you to further continue this project.
Also, if you checked out awesome604's gig and are getting De Ja Vu, it's most likely because I borrowed some of his description because a lot of what he said applies here.
WHAT IS COFFEE TALK?Coffee Talk is a borderline visual novel that takes place in Seattle in the near future. The world is similar to ours, with the main difference being it has a wide variety of fantasy races. From Elves to Succubi, to Werewolves to Vampires; these races interact with Humans on a day-to-day basis throughout the modern world.
The player plays as a Barista in a café called 'Coffee Talk'. The game consists of progressing through days, interacting with patrons, making new drinks, and giving items all while you hear the stories of the lives of the people while they drown their troubles in a cup of coffee, and a friendly ear.
Coffee Talk attempts to tackle a wide variety of social problems, such as inter-racial dating, anxiety and depression, emotional manipulation, racism, cyberbullying, self-harm, mental disorders like PTSD, and many, many more. But it uses fantasy elements to better explain and display these, in a way that can be both easily understood, while still remaining relatable to real-world issues.
It's up to you to help all of the characters find their happy ending, or at the very least, make it so they can accept a bad one.
High quality audio only (If your audio sounds reverby, peaking like crazy, buzzing, or anything of that sort, you will be automatically rejected)
Preferably have an XLR mic but USB works if it fits the criteria listed above.
Preferably be 18+ (But if you are below 18 and your voice fits the character well then that’s fine)
Try to get lines done before the deadline, I'm flexible so as long as you're communicating with me then it should be fine.
If you aren’t chosen but I liked your voice, I may keep you as an understudy just in case the person cast is unable to turn in lines.
Try and give multiple takes on your audition. Maybe the first take can be my voice suggestion and the next take can be your own interpretation of their voices. Up to you on how you want to audition.
If you have any questions, comments, concerns or anything in between. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me on here! Thank you for your interest, and I look foreword to your audition.

Still looking for more Riona Auditions
Thank you all so much for all your wonderful auditions, it's been a pleasure hearing all of your creative interpretations. However, I'm still looking for more of our talented Female CCC members to hop on and give Riona a shot! Thank you!
Lucas (19-25) Is an upbeat and energetic Satyr, who is a social-media influencer with a large online following, he's a bit of an air-head but can be wise and thoughtful when he needs to be. Constantly seeking approval from his peers, he can come off as vain. But in reality, he doesn't want to be misunderstood.
Lucas should have a higher-pitched voice and should read with a level of enthusiasm that you would expect from a typical vlogger.
(Context: Lucas has just entered the store, rain is pouring outside and he uses the coffee shop for shelter.)
HAPPY: "Hey! What's shakin'? Isn't the weather just terrible? Oh, I'm Lucas by the way."
(Context: The power has gone out, and Lucas is asked why he's very scared)
SCARED: "Y-Yeah... Everything's peachy... I just, heh... I just don't like being in the dark so much..."
(Context: Riona makes a comment about how she's received racist comments online.)
ANGRY: "That's real fucked up! Even with the Vindication Act in place, those POS still exist, huh?"
Riona (30-40) Is a woman who has a mysterious and supernatural aura around her. She talks with a smooth, silky voice, but it's laced with a hint of bitterness that gives you that cold feeling on the back of your neck. She dreams of making it big on stage, but she's held back by competition and assumptions that she should be way "better" because of her race.
(Context: Riona has just entered the store, and is calmly placing her order while the two sitting next to her are seriously freaked out by her.)
NEUTRAL "Can I place my order? What do you have? ... I'd like something soothing for my throat... and for my mind."
(Context: Riona explains the types of comments she received on a video of her singing opera.)
SAD: "There were... a lot of comments telling me to "stop screaming" and to take my video down. Because they didn't want to get cursed and die yet. Many others wanted to know who and where my "handler" was..."
(Context: Riona is enraged by the idea of being perceived as "chill" for the racist remarks she received online.")
ANGER: "Chill...? Do I look... chill? But, how can you be... CHILL...? -- WHEN SUCH BLATANT DISRESPECT THROWN IN YOUR FACE LIKE THAT?!"
The Barista (20-30) Has a calming, friendly voice, and is always happy to lend an ear for the patrons troubles. This is probably the most flexible voice in the entire game, as the Barista doesn't fit into any particular voice category.
(Context: The Barista asks Lucas if he would like something to drink.)
NEUTRAL: "I'm glad you made it in time. Would you like anything to drink? Something to warm you up?"
(Context: The Barista comments on how he's impressed with how the power is holding up during the storm, but suddenly, the lights go out.)
NEUTRAL: "Well on the bright side, our power seems stable for now..." (lights go out)
ANNOYED: "... I retract my statement... I'm going to check on it though, so I'll be right back."
(Context: After fixing the lights, they go out again, right as Riona enters the café.)
ANNOYED: "Uhg... Not again! Hold on let me go fix it..."
