Project Overview
Synopsis
Dogged by pain and misfortune from the very beginning, Shin-Ae decides she wants nothing to do with people nor anything to do with romance. Although content with her unsocial, boring, loveless existence, her lifestyle is challenged after she ruins an unsuspecting strangers' clothes.
Rundown
Hey everyone, this is going to be a fandub of the popular webtoon I Love Yoo written and drawn by Quimchee. This current casting call will be for the first three arcs of the show (16 chapters) and will open up again when new characters present themselves.
Before we get started, here are some simple criteria you should meet before auditioning:
Must have a condenser or dynamic microphone with little to no background noise (cardioid polar pattern preferred). You don’t have to have the most expensive mics out there, but as long as you know that your microphone sounds decent and doesn’t clip, feel free to audition!
Having a discord account is essential. This is important because the project server will be hosted there. Please paste your discord username, timezone, and age when auditioning.
Submitted audition files need to be sent in .wav (wave) format, with the bitrate set at 48,000 Hz and 32-bit float. If submission files go over the allotted upload limit, .mp3 file format with a minimum of 128kbps or 320kbps bitrate settings will work, just please specify that the file was sent in a .mp3 format.
Be comfortable with live direction while voice acting. Due to the mass workload of this fandub, we will always be working alongside one voice actor at a time to ensure progress is made.
This is going to be a summer time project (May-August), so we’re looking for members who generally have a bit more free time alongside a set schedule with availability to squeeze in times for live direction.

Thank you all for auditioning! I honestly didn't think we'd get this many. Today is the deadline and we are in the process of rehearing everyone's auditions. By the end of today and all of tomorrow I'll be sending messages to the auditionees before they are chosen for their roles, so please be sure to keep a lookout on CCC!

Shin-Ae Yoo is the main character of the webtoon. She comes from a troubled childhood with her parents' separation, but as the years go by she learns to become strong and independent from the flak she has received. Her occupation as of right now is that of a high school student with constant financial worries that woe her family. With the thought of food always coursing through her mind, she always gets bribed by her friends to go places to eat.
What we’re looking for here is a voice that’s somewhere in the middle of feminine and tomboy. She isn’t girly, but she does exhibit some characteristics and behaviors considered typical of a boy.

Rika is a kind-hearted and benevolent girl who is the most sensible out of her close group of friends. In general, Rika is a sweet, gentle-hearted person but she can sometimes act unusually jealous when it comes to the things she adores. Rika is smart but tends to hide it.
When it comes to Rika, we’re looking for more of a grounded voice. She needs to sound authentic and has to have confidence and or reason in what she says.

“Oh, it’s for this party the company my dad works for throws… It’s masquerade themed this year. You wanna come? Maya’s gonna be there.”

She’s one of Shin-Ae’s best friends and out of them, the most girly. She’s a bit louder and obnoxious which sometimes can make her come off as a nuisance. However, she’s outgoing and has a friendly and overall inviting demeanor.
Maya’s character is probably the loudest within the first three arcs of the show, so we’re looking for someone that can capture her colorful voice. Whether it’s yelling, screaming, panicking, you get the idea.

Meg is an outgoing woman who has an outwardly enthusiastic and bubbly nature. She’s quite determined at times, especially when it comes to capturing the attention of Kousuke, and is quick to jump to conclusions. She cares a lot about her appearance and is always traumatized whenever Kosuke sprays makeup remover on her face.
Her voice is very affectionate towards Kousuke, so whenever she’s within his vicinity she’s very bubbly. In terms of normal everyday situations she’s feminine, but she can turn into a vicious snake whenever she senses any threats to her relationship with Kousuke.

Dieter's a supporting character. He is first introduced to the show by having a crush on Shin-Ae. Though his crush quickly becomes one sided, he progresses to let it go and become friends with Shin-Ae.
Dieter is German, so it would be great to have a bilingual (German-English) voice for this character, though it is by no means a requirement. The type of voice we're looking for here is someone soft spoken, reserved, and a bit shy.

Soushi's also a supporting character. Friends of Dieter and soon Shin-Ae's. However, he's the complete opposite of Dieter. He's loud, unsophisticated, brash, jokester, you name it.
He has this infatuation with the word "mate", so what we're leaning on is someone possibly with an exotic or foreign accent. Though then again it is by no means a requirement.

Sang-Chul is rather blunt and arrogant to everyone around him since he casually brings up topics that are rather uncomfortable with other people. He comes off as rather unenthused by his father’s line of work and working in general.

Sim Han is the loving father of Shin-Ae. Since his wife left him, he tried to become responsible for Shin-Ae’s life and study expenses by burying himself in work, usually coming home late. He has a tendency to binge-drink whenever faced with adversity, most recently during his and Shin-Ae’s current financial crisis.
