   Hello there! To whomever is reading this profile, allow me introduce myself. I am an aspiring voice talent that goes by the name of Dani Shyland! Since I was young, cartoons have always kept me entertained. They contained very complex characters whom I could depend my life on. More specifically, it was the feelings of the characters that really captured my attention. The sad, the happy, the dark,  the shy, all these feelings left me with a sense of awe.
 
   I lived a sad childhood not really knowing my father and this left me rather depressed and really unmotivated.  As I grew up, I began to hate myself more and more, to the point of almost, well, suicide. However, I had a sudden realization when I hit twenty and that was life could be best spent on other things rather than depressing matters. I'm a performance poet, a musician, a storyteller, an events host, an accidental voice actor, Artistic Director for Spoken Word at PBH’s Free Fringe, and an enormous geek. During weekdays, I persuade people to make lists and say no to shiny things. For every role, there is a different hat, and a spreadsheet to match. My first full poetry collection, Spectral, came out with Burning Eye in March 2022, and I describe it as “a kind of poetry concept album, with illustrations”.
