WarioWare Tooned 8 - WarioWare Judged

WarioWare Tooned 8 - WarioWare Judged

Project Overview

This is the latest installment in my personal fan series of comedy animations based on the WarioWare series and its characters - here's the previous episode.  This time around, the episode is split into two halves with different parodies of courtroom-based game series: The episode starts as an Ace Attorney parody, then swaps to Danganronpa.

Some notes:

  • You must be over the age of 13 to audition.

  • You must be able to be contacted through either email and/or Discord to exchange the script and recorded voice lines.

  • XLR microphones are preferred, or at least high-quality USB mics without background noises or echoes.  Please make the audio quality in your audition indicative of what all your lines will sound like if you get the part.

  • Additional shorts and episodes will be made after this and I'd like to keep the cast consistent, so preferably audition if you're okay with doing additional work as your character of choice.

Mona

Role assigned to: krysdolly

The female lead of the WarioWare series, and the main character of the episode's Ace Attorney-inspired first half.  A trendy young lady with an inexplicable crush on Wario, she nonetheless takes him on in court as a defense attorney since among her many jobs, she's been interning at a law firm.

Replicating a sound similar to Stephanie Sheh's voicework as Mona in the newest games is an option (Sample) , but I'm also open to different takes.  The main thing to keep in mind is that Mona has typically always had a medium-pitched voice, so try to go neither too high or too low with your read.

  • How about we take this to the one place in games where logic reigns supreme - the courtroom!

  • *Swooning* He looks so cool in that outfit!...Get a hold of yourself, Mona! Right now, he's your opponent! He can go back to being an inspiration tomorrow!

  • HOLD IT! Girls, I think you may have revealed something very important about this case.

Role assigned to: imshadow007

A gradeschooler who is obsessed with gaming and helps Wario develop microgames, 9-Volt becomes a witness in the episode's first half to try and help figure out who stole Wario's prototype car.

Though a male character, I'm seeking a female voice actress for 9-Volt who can do a similar "rebellious anime boy" voice to Melissa Hutchison's portrayals in recent games (Sample).  Think a raspy kid voice similar to characters like Ash, Naruto & Gon.

  • I just feel like I need to try and help Dribble & Spitz. They don't seem the stealing type, y' know?

  • *Shocked* You really suspect ME?! I can't even drive!

  • *Asked if he knows something, flustered/nervous* I, I...might, yeah. Ummm......

Role assigned to: krysdolly

9-Volt's mom, a young housewife and fellow gamer.  Though generally sweet and friendly, when provoked, she switches to her angry "Oni Mode" seen in the Gamer minigame, and terrifies everyone around her.

Regular 5-Volt's voice should sound similar to Cristina Vee's portrayal in the latest games (Sample) - high-pitched, bubbly, warm and friendly.  Oni mode should use a lower, gruffer, and comically loud/scary voice to differentiate.

  • *Warm, supporting* 9-Volt, honey, I think it's very important that you tell everyone the truth.

  • *Angry Oni mode* I DIDN'T RAISE YOU TO BE A LIAR!

  • *Factual* That's because those were unofficial mods made by fans. Kind of like how this is an unofficial Nintendo cartoon made by fans!

Role assigned to: Danni

The sweeter and more childlike of the kindergarten ninja twins, Ana both assists Kat with her testimony in the first half and then gets separated from her sister and has to help the second group out in the Danganronpa-esque second half.  Kind and peppy, but easily scared.

While people are welcome to draw from Fryda Wolff's current portrayal of Ana (Sample), I'm very open to different interpretations.  Kat & Ana have previously had higher voices in my old shorts than in the games, so it's okay to go for a higher pitch with your take on her.  Just try and capture something you'd expect to hear from a cartoon child - cute, enthusiastic, and easily emotional.

  • *Meekly/quietly to her sister* You know, your shoes are pretty dirty-

  • *Nervously/Scared* I-if it gets me out of here sooner, than sure!

  • *Wondering* But why would the Wii be a clue?

Role assigned to: Sonicfan241

A young wandering martial arts student who is always striving to learn and improve alongside his sensei Master Mantis.  Cricket has a tendency to be overly dramatic and bombastic in a comical manner.  He joins the group for the Danganronpa parody in the second half.

Robbie Daymond's current portrayal should definitely be used as an example of what I'm looking for (Sample).  He's basically a shonen anime parody whose intensity is almost always at 11.

  • *Starting the trial* Can't say my training has included how to handle a situation like this. How do we get started?

  • Did you not see the trailer and title, Mr. Wario? It's clearly a courtroom parody.

  • *Frustrated* But that means we still have no additional insight from the Wiimote! We're back at square one!

Lulu

Role assigned to: Danni

A feisty young girl who joined Wario's quirky crew after some mishaps, Lulu is often rearing to go on heroic adventures, especially when her crush Cricket is involved.

Alejandra Cazares' official portrayal is a great basis for how Lulu should sound (Sample) - Energized, rebellious, loud, and a bit raspy. She's not in this episode much, but will reappear in future shorts.

  • *Swooning, thinking about Cricket, to herself* He's so observant!

  • *Running towards a closing elevator, screaming rapidly* CRICKET DON'T LEAVE WITHOUT ME!

Role assigned to: Retrorulz

The smaller half of the cat-and-dog cabbie duo Dribble & Spitz, who find themselves accused by Wario of stealing his fancy prototype car.

Griffin Puatu's portrayal in the games should definitely be used as a basis (Sample) - a higher but raspy and feisty voice with a hint of a Brooklyn accent.

  • Just smile and wave, buddy. *Louder/more room volume* Can I just say how much we're enjoying these chicken wings? Great catering, amirite?

  • *Nervous/defensive* Th-that's just a coincidence! Besides, there's no reason for us to take that car!

  • I guess that means we're off the hook!
