The Summoners: Machine Heart - Book Promotion/Teaser
Project Overview
Hello everyone! My name is AJ Cast. However, in this case my pen name is J.J. Reigns!
I recently finished writing my first ever book, The Summoners: Machine Heart, the first of the series. It is heavily light novel/anime inspired and that is what I will be looking towards in terms of voice work! I will be using these voice lines to create my book promo/teaser on social media and YouTube/Twitch. And if the book does well in sales I will also be turning it into an audio book where I would love the promo voice actors to return!
Here is the back of the book blurb -
"Orphaned brothers, Ayden and Pat, are talented and powerful users of a special ability known as the "Great Spirit." This allows them to Summon a weapon from deep within, and puts them in a prestigious class of beings above the average human. With the help of their adoptive family, the brothers were well on their way to maximizing their incredible power.
But when they witnessed their mother's death and betrayal at the hand of their own sister, the brothers vowed to stop at nothing to seek vengeance. As a last resort they enrolled in a famous Summoner's academy to sharpen their skills and master their power.
Just as things are falling into place, Ayden and Pat begin to realize that many difficulties lay ahead, not only in Avenging their mother, but in facing their troubled past."

Ayden is a 17-18 year old Summoner. He suffers from PTSD and has severe trust issues to people he gets close with. He talks in an almost monotone voice. Deep, gritty, and dark. He gets angry easily but deep down he cares a lot.
The voice I always pictured in my head would have been something close to Bakugo from MHA.
"One night, Pat and I returned from a mission that Valerie had assigned us to. We found her dead on the floor, soaked in blood. Ana was standing over her lifeless body. Her spear dripping with blood.” - Ayden's voice saddening as he nears the end of his story to a small crowd of 'friends.'
“The last person we trusted betrayed us! She killed Valerie! That is why we don’t trust anyone anymore!” - Ayden is annoyed and yelling at his brother.
"It's what brothers do." - Ayden says kind-heartedly. Soft.
Pat is a 16-17 year old Summoner. He suffers from PTSD but has better control of his emotions rather than his brother. He wants to be himself and make friends but due to his brothers seriousness of not trusting anyone he feels conflicted of his feelings and actions. He talks with a higher toned voice. He tends to sound like he is trying to encourage or be happy but deep down he's sad.
The voice I always pictured in my head would have been something close to Shinra from Fire Force.
“You’re like my brother, okay? You are my brother!" - Pat raising his voice worryingly. He's scared but trying to sound confident.
"Because of this, we developed a fear of trust. Especially Ayden. Our fear led to anger and hatred. We grew distant from people." - Pat is explaining his past. He's talking out loud but shyly.
“If you want to make everyone your enemy, you go right ahead. I want to live up to her name. If you want to act like you don’t care about anyone, then so be it!” - Pat raising his voice and yelling at his brother. He's tired of wearing a mask and wants to be himself.
Maddie is a 17 year old Summoner. She is sweet, kind and encouraging to everyone. Especially her friends. She loves the people around her and dedicates herself to protecting them and the city she lives in.
The voice I always pictured in my head would have been something close to Maka from Soul Eater.
“For someone so scary, you seem to show a lot of empathy.” - Maddie says this with a soft, kind, and reassuring voice.
“I can feel your spirits clearly now. They are so damaged and blinded." - Maddie says this saddened and hurt. She wants to reassure she understands the brothers emotions.
“We are the saviors of this school and city! All of us took down Abaddon’s son, Orpheus! We will not lose to the likes of you!” - Maddie is yelling in fear and defeat. She is losing the battle and is trying to make her final stand.
Eli is a 17 year old Summoner. He is the laid back friend who loves and supports the people around him. Although he may seem chill and act nonchalant, he deeply worries and cares for his friends.
The voice I always pictured in my head would have been something close to Gray from Fairy Tail.
"Hey, we defeated Orpheus, the son of Abaddon. I think we can handle a few chumps who wanna act tough.” - Eli says this confidently with slight arrogance.
"Hey, everyone has someone." - Eli says this kindly, catching his two friends on a date.
"You know I love both of them and wouldn’t change a thing." - Eli says this in a calm, normal voice. He is reassuring a person he is happy that his friends are romantically together.
Talia is an 18 year old Summoner. She is sweet, shy, and very anxious. Her voice is higher pitched. She is debatably the strongest character in the book, but doesn't show it due to her nervousness and the trauma she suffers from her past. She hides her power.
The voice I always pictured in my head would be anything similar to your typical shy anime girl. Many references including Hinata from Naruto, Shuvi from No Game No Life, or Mizore from Rosario + Vampire.
"If you ever need a friend to talk to, you can always come to me.” - Talia says this in a nervous, shy, soft voice.
"Ayden! I- I love you!" - Talia says this in fear of losing her significant other during a battle. She yells this out loud to encourage him.
"No! No! I couldn’t save anyone! They’re dead! They died so horribly!” - Talia is broken down and crying. She lost two of her best friends and blames herself for not being able to save them.
Ember is a 15 year old Summoner and the youngest of the friends. He is fiery, loud, obnoxious, arrogant, cocky, and disrespectful. Ember is a character who does not back down from a fight and will give it his all to prove he is stronger and better than you. His voice has a high tone to it.
Ember is a male character but can be voiced by a female as well due to his youth and higher pitched voice.
The voice I always pictured in my head would have been something close to Edward Elric from FMA, Naruto from Naruto, or Inosuke from Demon Slayer.
"These two had them beat and still had the audacity to try and finish them off!” - Ember is angrily yelling at his friend. He is aggressively explaining why they shouldn't trust the main characters.
"Don’t get so cocky just because you won one match against me!" - Ember is in the middle of a fight and is yelling at his opponent.
Kenji is a 17 year old Summoner. He is the nephew of the school's headmaster. He is arrogant, cocky, and comes off as rude and mean. He speaks in a monotone voice and is always serious.
The voice I always pictured in my head would have been something close to Sasuke from Naruto or Kid from Soul Eater
"I hate to admit this. After the power he showed me during the tournament. I’d like to be able to fight him again.” - Kenji says this with a sigh of defeat that he wants to save his rival from danger.
Valerie is a middle aged Summoned and the adoptive-mother of Ayden and Pat. She is a legendary bounty hunter and recorded as the strongest Summoner in history. She talks with a soothing, motherly voice. She is caring for her two sons and wants the best for them.
The voice I always pictured in my head would have been something close to Erza from Fairy Tail.
"My boys sure have grown up. I love you both so much. Please, always protect each other." - Valerie says this in a soft, almost whisper tone. She has a motherly voice and sounds caring.
"I will see you soon." - Valerie says this reassuringly.
Shay is a middle aged Summoner. He is a Professor at the school and next to Valerie, one of the strongest Summoners recorded in history. He personally takes on Ayden and Pat as his students to help them grow stronger. He speaks in a very monotone voice. He is always focused on one subject at a time and can come off as rude or scary when he speaks.
The voice I always pictured in my head would have been something close to Stein from Soul Eater
“Are you kids ready?” - Shay asks this in a serious tone.
"It’s rare for a normal Summoner to control this kind of power fluently. There are very few who can do this at the school.” - Shay is saying this with interesting and curiosity.
"Emotion is like fire. It can help cook your food, but it can also burn you." - Shay is stating this to the main character. He says this in a serious, lecturing tone.
Ana is an 18 year old Summoner and the main Antagonist of the book. She speaks with confidence and determination. She speaks with lots of aggression and anger
The voice I always pictured in my head would have been something close to Zero Two from Darling in the Franxx.
"She used us as toys. That is all we were to her!" - Ana is irritated, angry, and arguing with her enemy.
"I'm sorry..." - Ana says this in a saddened, near-crying voice.
