The Little Mermaid Fandub
Project Overview
WHAT IS THIS?
This is a fandub on the 1989 Disney film, The Little Mermaid. I thought it would be fun to redub the entire movie with a whole new cast of voice actors and singers, as well as recreating the sound effects. Now, I am aware that if I were to put this on Youtube, it would most likely get taken down because I'd basically be uploading the entire movie. As such, the dub will instead be going up on Discord.
For those that are not familiar with the story, The Little Mermaid centers on a young mermaid princess named Ariel, who is captivated by the world upon the surface. When she falls in love with a human prince, she makes a deal with a villainous sea witch named Ursula to become human herself and earn his love before the agreed time runs out.
REQUIREMENTS
Now, this is going to be a paid fan project, so I would like there to be decent quality, technology-wise, and performance-wise. As such, please make sure that your microphone can capture your voice that is clear for me to hear and have little to no background noise or peaking/clipping. In terms of the performance, I ask that you watch the film as many times as you can so you have a clear understanding of how the character you would like to audition for sounds.
Also, it is required that you post your Discord information in the description of your audition, seeing as how the project will be going into production over there. It should be noted that all voice files must be submitted in a .wav format. Most importantly, do remember to have fun, as that is the whole purpose of this project!

The Main Character. Ariel is the seventh and youngest daughter of King Triton and Queen Athena, rulers of the undersea kingdom of Atlantica. She is a bright, spirited, and headstrong mermaid princess with a strong passion for adventure and exploration. Her tendency to explore the more mysterious depths of the ocean (or more importantly, the world beyond the ocean) can lead to an array of problems for both herself and her friends, and in the confines of her personal life. Despite this, Ariel's selflessness, compassion, and intuitive way of thinking often resolve such problems, as she always takes full responsibility for her actions. Ariel is extremely compassionate and loving towards almost all living things; more so platonically than romantically.

Part of that world
As Ariel's closest friend and confidante, Flounder is incredibly loyal to her, as well as protective. Part of his reasoning for joining her various exploits is to watch out for her should things go wrong. Though he would rather her hobbies were less perilous, Flounder will always stick up to those who chastise Ariel for her adventurous spirit, including King Triton. Flounder is essentially the polar opposite of Ariel. He is often riddled with anxiety, scares easily, and hates adventure (for the most part). Like Sebastian and King Triton, Flounder is something of a "voice of reason" as he tries to talk Ariel out of adventuring for her own (as well as his) safety. Unfortunately, Flounder's apprehensions never get through.
Who, me? No way. It's just, it, err . . . it looks - damp in there. Yeah. And I think I may be coming down with something. Yeah, I got this cough. [Flounder coughs unconvincingly]
Ok Yeah - you go. I'll stay and - what? Sharks! Ariel!
[Pouting] I'm not a guppy.
Sebastian is a red, Jamaican-accented crab who serves as King Triton's advisor and "distinguished" court composer and singer-songwriter. Despite his esteemed position, Sebastian is regularly tasked with watching over Triton's youngest daughter, Princess Ariel. He is a multi-layered character. He is generally carefree and fun-loving, especially when dealing with his most beloved profession: music. He can be so high-spirited, in fact, that it can sometimes overwhelm the more solemn King Triton. However, the urgency of his job, as the king's most sought-after assistant, requires Sebastian to be strict and no-nonsense often. This is sometimes a point of contention; being as how Sebastian is less staunch than Triton, the two rarely see eye-to-eye when it comes to Triton's laws. However, as Triton's advisor, Sebastian must uphold the king's regulations no matter how upsetting they may be. This makes Sebastian out to be "the bad guy" in some situations (mainly those involving Ariel), but his moral compass tends to push Sebastian to follow his heart, rather than the law.
How do I get myself into these situations? I should be writing symphonies, not tagging along after some headstrong teenager.
This is a catastrophe! What would her father say? I'll tell you what her father'd say, he'd say he's gonna kill himself a crab, that's what her father'd say! I'm gonna march meself straight home right now and tell him just like I shoulda done de minute... and don't you shake your head at me, young lady. Maybe there's still time. If we could get that witch to give you back your voice, you could go home with all the normal fish, and just be... just be... just be miserable for the rest of your life. All right, all right. I'll try to help you find that prince.

Scuttle is possibly the most eccentric of Ariel's circle of friends. Like Ariel, he has a love for human objects and collects a number of them. To himself and Ariel, he is an expert on humans, though he knows very little. Despite this, Scuttle has shown to have some knowledge of humans that most of the sea creatures don't.
Whoa! Mermaid off the port bow! Ariel, how you doin' kid? [Lowers telescope to reveal Ariel at wing's length.] Whoa, what a swim!
It's a dinglehopper! Humans use these little babies . . . to straighten their hair out. See - just a little twirl here and a yank there and - voiolay! You got an aesthetically pleasing configuration of hair that humans go nuts over!
Ariel! Ariel! Ariel. I was flying, I wa - of course I was flying - An' - I s- I saw that the watch - the witch was watchin' a mirror, and she was singin' with a stolen set o' pipes! Do you hear what I'm tellin' you? THE PRINCE IS MARRYING THE SEA WITCH IN DISGUISE!
Prince Eric is a young, dashing prince of a seaside kingdom with a passion for sailing. Despite being of royalty, Eric is an accomplished mariner who is often seen partaking in various duties aboard ships in his own fleet. Eric is a hopeless romantic and appears to be quite dreamy, believing his true love certainly exists, but simply hasn't been found. He's also initially shy around girls.
Believe me, Grim, when I find her I'll know - without a doubt. It'll just - bam! Hit me - like lightning.
Are you Ok miss? I'm sorry if this knucklehead scared you. He's harmless, really - . . . you . . . seem very familiar . . . to me. Have we met?

King Triton is the ruler of Atlantica, an undersea kingdom inhabited by merpeople. As king, he wields the all-powerful trident, which grants him control over the seas. By his late wife Queen Athena, he is also father to seven daughters, the most notable of which is Ariel. Triton is a flawed but caring father. He is a strict disciplinarian whose overprotective nature towards his daughters has been the source of conflicts between him and Ariel, especially due to her obsession with humans. He is noted to have an explosive temper when provoked. His eruptive nature, when pushed far enough, can sometimes lead to violent acts.
Oh, Ariel, How many times must we go through this? You could've been seen by one of these barbarians - by - by one of these humans!
[Angry] Know him? I don't have to know him. They're all the same. Spineless, savage, harpooning, fish-eaters, incapable of any feeling!
[Remorseful] Oh, what have I done? What have I done?
Ursula is a villainous Cecelia (half-woman, half-octopus) who strikes deals with unfortunate merfolk with the promise of making their dreams come true. Ursula's contracts, however, are covertly designed to advance her own ambitions and cause general misery. In the past, Ursula was a resident of King Triton's palace, before being banished and exiled by order of the king. Scorned, she has since vowed to exact vengeance by harnessing the power of the king's trident and installing herself as ruler of all the ocean. Ursula is classy, despite being flamboyant, and presents herself with confidence and an eye for high standards, also, she regularly flaunts her curvaceous appearance in a sultry manner, and spends time in her vanity, admiring her own physical appearance. Despite Ursula's intelligent and calculating traits, she is extremely arrogant and egotistical to the point of underestimating her opponents.
Yes, hurry home, princess. We wouldn't want to miss old daddy's celebration, now, would we? Huh! Celebration indeed. Bah! In MY day, we had fantastical feasts when I lived in the palace. And now, look at me wasted away to practically nothing - banished and exiled and practically starving, while he and his flimsy fish-folk celebrate. Well, I'll give 'em something to celebrate soon enough. Flotsam! Jetsam! I want you to keep an extra close watch on this pretty little daughter of his. She may be the key to Triton's undoing. . . .
[Faux Kindness] My dear, sweet child. That's what I do - it's what I live for. To help unfortunate merfolk - like yourself. Poor souls with no one else to turn to.

Flotsam & Jetsam are a sinister pair of duel moray eels that serve as minions to Ursula, the sea witch. They have a habit of speaking in unison, finishing each other's sentences, and entwining their bodies. They are dark and mysterious lackeys who are competent in their work, thus matching well with Ursula's wickedness.
Flotsam: Poor child.
Jetsam: Poor, sweet child.
Flotsam: She has a very serious problem.
Jetsam: If only there was something we could do.
Flotsam: But there is something.Flotsam: We represent someone who can help you.
Jetsam: Someone who could make all your dreams come true.

Max is Prince Eric's loyal Old English Sheepdog. He's very energetic and rambunctious.

Grimsby is Prince Eric's confident caretaker. Eric sometimes calls him "Grim" for short.
Silence! Silence! It is now my honor and privilege to present our esteemed Prince Eric with a very special, very expensive, very large birthday present.
Eric, if I may say, far better than any dream girl, is one of flesh and blood, one warm and caring, and right before your eyes.
Carlotta is Prince Eric's sweet and kind maid.
Washed up from a shipwreck. Oh, the poor thing. We'll have you feeling better in no time. [Picks up Ariel's "dress"] I'll just - I'll just get this washed for you.
Oooh, you're gonna love it. Chef's been fixing his specialty, stuffed crab.
Chef Louis is an eccentric chef with a French accent, he is obsessed with cooking and clearly takes great pleasure in it, dancing and spinning around his kitchen while singing about the things he's cooking while doing things that make the hidden Sebastian want to throw up--but that's probably just because all the dishes involve fish or other sea creatures. He's got a hair-trigger temper, which flares up and causes him to get in trouble with Carlotta when he destroys the kitchen while chasing Sebastian.
[Angry] Come out you little pipsqueak and fight like a man!
[Nervous] Well - I - I was just - er, er, I'm sorry, madame.
