The Grim Invasion of Gravity Falls (Crossover Animation)
Project Overview
Hi there! Thank you so much for reading about my project! I'm Illusioncanthurtme, an artist and animator. Please take a look at some of my animations! You can see them on my youtube channel, as well as my most recent animation on the GameGrumps channel. I've been on an animation hiatus for a little while, and I'm looking forward to starting my next project. I'm excited to make something to express the love I have for my favorite cartoons. Gaobam, Invader Zim, and Gravity Falls are basically my superwholock!
This animation will feature my older designs for Dipper, Dib, and Billy, each of them in their mid 20s. In my head, I like to call them "the loserboys." They are all geeky and pathetic, in their own way. They go on paranormal adventures, or equally as often, mundane misadventures. They are a very ragtag trio of friends, and I'm super excited to write and animate some shenanigans for them!
The title I put on this project is moreso a placeholder for this casting call. I'm not making a giant animated series or anything, I'm just using these characters to exercise my animation muscles, and to make a couple silly videos! I'm planning on making two animations that feature these characters, but for now my focus is on the first one, which I'll be using to get my animation sea legs again. This will be something short and silly with the three boys, maybe one to two minutes long, which will explore their personalities together. Content wise, it will be them in a fast food drive through, Dipper bickering with the other two. When this is finished, the next animation will be a "found footage" style video, where the three are ghost hunting. I may include some lines from this idea in the auditions, for variation!
Although this is technically a "fan" project, I don't want anyone to feel discouraged if they aren't familiar with the source material. I'm 100% okay with creative interpretation, especially since these are versions of the characters that I've tampered with.
For submissions: the audio must be high quality and clear, with no background noise, static, etc.
The pay is pretty low for this project because the first animation will be short, and each character will only have about five lines. For future animations with these characters, there will be more pay - the $15 is just for this short animation. I wish I could pay more right now, even if this is short, but I'm a tad bit poor. I'm honestly just happy for the opportunity to pay someone for their lines at all.
CCC is telling me to make the deadline short, and lengthen the deadline if need be. I'd like everyone who's interested in auditioning to have their chance, so I may lengthen the deadline a few times!
THANK YOU FOR READING ALL THIS!!! I really hope you audition!! I look forward to hearing yours!

Older Dipper is not too different from 12 year old Dipper. He's become Fords apprentice after graduating high-school and getting his bachelors. He's also continued his vlog type videos called "Dippers guide to the unexplained," (these are Disney xd shorts!) which will occasionally feature ghost hunting. Although Dipper can also be laid back and silly, and is a generally happy guy, with Dib and Billy he tends to fall into the "straight man" role. He will usually react with frustration or exasperation to Dib and Billys foolish hijinks.
For Dippers voice, you can reference the voice he has in the show. Obviously, since he's not twelve, he would have a somewhat deeper voice, although not particularly deep. He should still have that awkward, slightly geeky edge. Here's a compilation of dipper being kind of sassy, a good look at his personality!
Note: I've provided a few lines, the third being from my second animation idea. I'm 100% ok with, and encourage improvisation on these lines. They don't need to be exact, be creative if you want! If you are feeling up for it or inspired, improvise your own lines too! Come up with whatever wacky thing you want - whatever you think Dipper might say. I'm super excited to hear your audition.

*Exasperated, speaking quickly* "Guys! Listen! We really don't have time for this! We need to get back so we can figure this out!"
*The driver seat is flung back, hitting Dippers legs* "AH! My knees! Watch it man!"
*Dipper is filming an intro to his show/vlog* "Today, we are in Gravity Falls forest investigating reports of suspicious paranormal activity. Locals have reported otherworldly noises, disappearing belongings, as well as strange ethereal forms in their peripheral vision, that disappear when they try to get a better look. In a few moments, we'll make our way deeper into the forest to find a good spot for the investigation."
Dib has become quite the shut-in in his mid twenties. He's moved out of his dads house, and into his own run down apartment in the city. He spends a lot of time investigating the paranormal, mostly stalking Zim through the internet, or whatever equivalent the Irken empire has to the cloud. His work keeps him glued to his computers, and for this reason, he's kind of let himself go. He's maintained connection with the "Swollen Eyeball Network", (a group of paranormal investigators like himself) as well as being a mod of his own online server, dedicated to the paranormal. He wears a trench coat, fingerless gloves, the occasional fedora, chip dust on his fingers... am I painting a clear picture here? He's ALWAYS drinking soda.
Older Dib is less maladjusted than 12 year old Dib. His ego is a little smaller, and he's able to take himself less seriously. He's also able to get out of his own head, and take the feelings of others into consideration... sometimes. Being a shut-in isn't doing him any favors; he's far from perfect. He can be obnoxious, and unaware of how he comes off to other people. He REALLY gets on Dippers nerves at times. He and Billy can be a dangerous combination, the two being akin to Spongebob and Patrick, with Dipper being Squidward.
For voice reference, you can watch some Dib moments from Invader Zim. I'd recommend watching the episode "Dib's Wonderful Life of Doom" because although this part of the episode is technically not "canon," It shows an older Dib, who has a more adult voice. Also, this is a very Dib-centric episode, so you can hear him talk a lot. Here's a link to the episode. (I hope this project doesn't get flagged or something for having a link to wco. 😬 there really wasn't a comprehensive compilation on youtube, although you can search around for Dib clips yourself!) Dibs voice should be similar to his canon voice, the same personality shining through, but also a little deeper, since he's older. Creative interpretation is also cool!
Note: I've provided a few lines, the second two being from my second animation idea. I'm 100% ok with, and encourage improvisation on these lines. They don't need to be exact, be creative if you want! If you are feeling up for it or are inspired, improvise your own lines too! Come up with whatever wacky thing you want, whatever you think Dib might say. I'm super excited to hear your audition.
Note #2: Dibs trails off in the first line, because he's about to ask for a "Poop." Poop in Invader Zim is Earths big soda brand. Dib remembers that he's in Dippers universe, and corrects himself to say Pitt instead - the Gravity Falls soda brand.

"Yeah, can I get a fuckin', uuuhhhhhhhhh.... *long and drawn out* number 3, please, the combo, and can I have that with a large cherry Pooooo... *trails off* Pitt. Sorry. A large cherry Pitt please…… What do you want?"
"Yeah, I’ve seen this before. You think it’s something unintelligent, maybe some residual energy, and before you know it, BAM! It’s got’cha. I think we should tread carefully here, it could be a demon."
*upset, angry, a little frantic* "No! Acts of self sacrifice were NOT on the agenda tonight! If you want to get yourself killed, go ahead! I'm out of here!"
Billy has matured since he was ten years old. Now, in his twenties, he's not quite as spastic, but still quite dumb. What he lacks in book smarts, he makes up for in emotional intelligence. That doesn't stop him from being annoying and obnoxious at times! He's still a goofball, and when paired up with Dib, it's a dangerous combination. Dipper finds them irritating sometimes.
I've always felt like Billy would be the least "loserboy" out of the three of them. Although he still has similar geeky interests, he doesn't hold the same desperate obsession with the paranormal that the other two do. He's been friends with the grim reaper since he was eight years old, so it's all normal to him! He spends less of his time actively pursuing the paranormal in his older years, (the paranormal tends to simply appear in his life) and more time with Mandy, steadily falling into domesticity with her, becoming her unconventional trophy boyfriend. However, he's still along for the ride, and happy to participate in whatever supernatural (or mundane) hijinks Dipper and Dib have in mind.
I know it's quite the tall order: asking someone to do their best Richard Horvitz impression. So I'll try to take some of the pressure off - I’m not looking for anything exact or perfect to the original! I'd only ask for you to check out some Billy clips, as well as some scenes with his dad, in order to get a good vibe for his character. (Billy's dad "Harold" has the same voice actor, and I based my older Billy design off of him as well. Since he takes after his dad, Billy would probably sound similar to him.) Just do your best to embody the character! As always, creative interpretation is great.
Here’s some clips that might help! This one is a compilation of Billy moments. This one is a compilation of moments with his dad. Here's another one with Harold: 5:39 on this video is akin to what Billy's “tough guy voice” would sound like, although he doesn’t need to talk as slowly.
Note: I'm 100% ok with, and encourage improvisation with these lines. They don't need to be exact, be creative if you want! If you are feeling up for it or are inspired, improvise your own lines too! Come up with whatever you like, whatever you think Billy might say. I'm super excited to hear your audition.

"Uhhh, hi, yeah, I'll have the lumberlog extreme, the combo with chili fries. Hold the chili. What about you?"
*Billy doing his serious, tough guy voice* "He'll need the energy in the coming days."
"Ahehehehe! Don’t worry Dib, she's not mad at you! She just doesn’t like you is all!"
