The Freelancer - A Star Citizen Machinima

The Freelancer - A Star Citizen Machinima

Project Overview

This is for a Star Citizen machinima pilot episode that will be reimagining the events of the 2003 Chris Robert's game, "Freelancer", but set in the Star Citizen universe. With this pilot episode we are recreating the events the occur during the first story mission following a suspected terrorist attack against a neutral space station. We've already cast a few roles, but are looking to bring in some new faces to our community. This project is being produced in partnership with "HubNet", one of the largest Star Citizen machinima collectives in the community.

Based on this gameplay video, the events of this pilot episode will cover from about 1m12s - 18m22s. The dialogue will be altered slightly to fit the SC universe and remove the obvious gameplay exposition dumps.

This is only a pilot episode to pay tribute to this older game which had a major influence on many of us in the SC community. If successful, there maybe enough momentum for future episodes, which maybe funded as paid projects like our other series. For now, this is just a passion project.

  • I understand what you’re saying, but I don’t have nearly enough people.

  • And who do you work for Mister...?

  • You’ll be linking up with the escort C.O., King. I’ll tell him to expect you...that is of course, if you are still interested.

A gruff, seasoned law enforcement officer. Sardonic at times, serious when needs to be.

This character will have about 200 words in total, mostly said over a communications channel (radio). Military-style (loosely) communications. Some shout outs during tense combat scenes.

  • You must be Trent. I’m King, the C.O. of this mission. I’ve contacted the lead transport of the convoy. They’ve completed pre-launch checks and are ready to go.

  • Dammit! Trent, get your weapons ready! This could get rough.

  • The Nine Tails were better equipped than expected, but we got what we came for. Thanks for playing the bait.
