PAID: The Chronicles of Conan: The Tower of the Elephant
Project Overview
Hello! My name is Adam Marl and I will be the director and producer for my upcoming pilot audiodrama of The Chronicles of Conan the Barbarian: The Tower of the Elephant, A nice wee short story by Robert E. Howard, may his soul rest in peace. It will be a mixture of adventure and lovecraft horror.
Im setting up a new sub-channel for my channels across the great web: The Hidden Auditorium of Fantasy Tales, where we will be making audiodrama's and audiobooks for short stories within fantasy and weird tales, with Conan stories being the first.
We will have script read through's via discord, just to help with direction (and so us and the VAs can have a wee chat and know each other, which tends to help, especially in previous productions). I will be the narrator, as this is a VA production, because its cheaper and easier for this pilot. The 4 main roles listed below will be relatively short, hence the low budget on this occasion.
There are 4 main roles:
Conan, the Barbarian: the protagonist. He is tall, bronze skinned, and powerfully built; broad shoulders, thick muscles beneath taught skin. He has sullen blue eyes and black mane of hair in a square-cut fringe. He is a mercenary, sellsword and adventurer.
Kothian Smuggler: A smuggler and mercenary who tells Conan about the Tower of the Elephant. He is a loud, uncouth, belligerent and drunk bandit.
Taurus the Nemedian, Prince of Thieves: A notorious, yet fat thief of Nemedia, who joins up with Conan
Yag-Kosha: An alien, is the only way to descibe this creature. He is large, larger than conan, and green of skin with the full-sized head of an elephant and topaz eyes whihc are blind. He is neither God nor demon, simply an entity that has existed on the world, from another planet. He is cursed and trapped by Yara, an evil sorcerer.

This nameless smuggler is fat, belligerent and drunk. He should be a loud, uncouth sounding, low-life. He is after all a man who brags mostly about stealing people, namely women, to sell them across nations.
DIRECTION
First line: He should sound proud and boastful, and as if he is talking to a crowd.
Second Line: In the first sentence he should sound astonished, with a hint of mockery, as he talks to a crowd. In the second sentence, he is directing his speech to Conan in a somewhat condescending tone.
Third line: He should sound insulted and outraged
By Bel, God of all Thieves, I'll show them how to steal wenches: I'll have her over the Zamorian border before dawn, and there'll be a caravan waiting to receive her.
Harken to this heathen!! He would steal the jewel of Yara! - Harken, fellow, I suppose you are some sort of northern barbarian -
What?!! You dare tell us our business, and intimate that we are cowards? Get along, get out of my sight!
He is a very masculine, primal man form the wild northern hills of Cimmeria. His voice is commanding and strong. Although this a lead role, he will not have many words to say.
First Line: His tone is not threatening, but sounds with authority.
Second Line: He should sound as though he is grating beneath simmering rage, close to boiling over.
Third Line: He sounds uneasy, yet reassuring, as he sees a cosmic tragedy of a creature before him.
You spoke of the Elephant Tower. I've heard much of this tower; what is it's secret?
Will you mock me me and then lay hands on me?
I am not Yara. I am only a thief. I will not harm you.
A paunch master of thievery. He knows his trade well, and is a well known rogue.
First line: Hiss this in bewilderment, as you have just bumped into Conan mid-heist!
Second line: scoff in derision and disgust
Third Line: should be said quietly and with authority, like a command
You are no soldier. You are a thief, just like myself.
These Zamorians call themselves thieves - bah!
Follow me. Keep behind me, as you value your life.
For this character, since he is an eldritch, alien creature, feel free to use special effects to make his voice sound unique. Go wild with editing. He is incredibly large, and an ancient creature.
First Line: should be said in anguish and despair.
Second line: Speak conversationally
Third Line: Should be said with sadness.
Have you come to torture me again, Yara? Will you never be done? Oh, Yag-kosha, is there no end to agony.
You have slain a man too, this night. And there is death in the tower above. I feel; I know.
I am foul and monstrous to you, am I not? Nay, do not answer; I know...
