Stardew Valley Playthrough: Dubbed
Project Overview
Hey there!
My name is Edward from CozyCrateGaming and I am creating a playthrough of Stardew Valley and would really love to add your amazing voices to my project!
The goal of this playthrough is to give listeners something to easily fall asleep to or have running in the background. Please keep this in mind while you audition.
Audition Rules
You must be at least 18 years of age to audition.
-There are some controversial topics that are addressed in Stardew Valley, and I personally do not feel comfortable asking minors to play parts dealing with these topics.
Submit at least 2-3 takes for every line on the character(s) you audition for.
-It is VITAL that you are able to demonstrate a range of emotions even with the limitation of keeping the volume low.
Submit auditions as .mp3 or .wav files.
-Also ensure that the file you submit in your audition matches the audio quality that you will be able to send for the final project. Our audio tech can mix, so don’t feel as though you have to apply 1000 filters or sound like you are recording in a perfect studio (although strong audio quality will increase your odds of being cast) just don’t submit takes with your fan 2 feet away from your mic or your dog yelling. Chances are, we might cast your dog and not you if you do that.
Include either your email address or your discord ID in the comment of your audition submission.
-Discord is preferable if possible.
*side note, you are welcome to audition for as many characters as you would like! The characters who aren’t already listed already have VAs or will be assigned later on*
That’s it! Please take the time to watch the explainer video before auditioning if you haven’t already, and I look forward to listening to your takes!
When you are logged in, you can comment, add submissions, create projects, upvote, search open roles, and way more. Login here.
Grandpa is the first character players are introduced to. He writes a letter gifting the farmhouse, which prompts the player to move to Stardew Valley.
"If you're reading this, you must be in dire need of a change. The same thing happened to me, long ago. I'd lost sight of what mattered most in life...real connections with other people and nature. So I dropped everything and moved to the place I truly belong."
"Wait for my return at the dawn of your third year"
Lewis is the mayor of Pelican Town. Along with Robin, he greets you when you move to the Valley and explains a little bit about life on the farm. Lewis is known to have some sort of relations with Marnie, as the shorts he lost and brown suspenders are found in her bedroom. As well as that, a note can be found in his bedroom in the lower left on a shelf under a coffee mug, believed to be from Marnie. The note is signed "-M"
"Good evening, Edward! I'm glad to see you relaxing at the saloon. It's good for you to take a break now and then. Your grandfather always worked himself too hard... I'll have an extra beer in his honor tonight."
“I've been Mayor of Pelican Town for over twenty years! No one ever runs against me when it's time for an election. I like to think that it means I'm doing my job well. I like being Mayor.”
"Now if only I could get you kids to pick up litter this efficiently, we'd have the cleanest town this side of the gem sea *chuckle*"
Robin is the local carpenter of Stardew Valley who is sent to greet The Farmer by Mayor Lewis when they first arrive in the valley. She is the mother of Sebastian, wife of Demetrius, and mother of Maru. It can be presumed that she was widowed before she married Demetrius.
“My parents were bewildered when I told them I wanted to be a carpenter. They were pretty old-fashioned.”
“Sometimes I worry about Sebastian... he doesn't have many friends and doesn't really seem to care about his future very much... I would talk to him about it but he never opens up to me.”
“If you need any buildings on your farm upgraded, just ask me! You'll need to provide enough lumber and stone for the project. And it costs money, too. But I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results!”
“Alex loves sports and hanging out at the beach. He is quite arrogant and brags to everyone that he is going to be a professional athlete. Is his cockiness just a facade to mask his crushing self-doubt? Is he using his sports dream to fill the void left by the disappearance of his parents? Or is he just a brazen youth trying to 'look cool?'"
“My arms are really sore, but that's the sign of progress for a guy like me. I must've done a thousand push-ups yesterday.”
“Hey Farmer girl. You've got a nice tan going. The more I practice this summer, the easier it'll be for me to go pro. Then you'd be able to say you knew me once. Cool, huh?”
“I finally took the plunge... I've decided to stop putting gel in my hair. I wouldn't want to be friends with someone who only liked me because I have gel in my hair.”
“Elliott lives alone in a cabin on the beach. He is a writer who dreams of one day writing a magnificent novel. He is a sentimental “romantic” with a tendency to go off onto flowery, poetic tangents. When he can afford it, he enjoys a strong beverage at the Stardrop Saloon. Could a humble farmer such as yourself be the inspiration Elliott is looking for? There’s only one way to find out…”
“If we keep polluting the oceans, the jellies will surely go extinct. It's already in the process of happening. What a shame... we have no respect for nature anymore.”
“Ah, the new farmer we've all been expecting... and whose arrival has sparked many a conversation!
“It's a little lonely out here on the beach... so I apologize if I was ever a little too forward with you when we first met. I was just eager to have a friend. It feels good to have a close friend like you.”
“Harvey is the town doctor. He’s a little old for a bachelor, but he has a kind heart and a respected position in the community. He lives in a small apartment above the medical clinic, but spends most of his time working. You can sense a sadness about him, as if there’s something he’s not telling you…”
“It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Harvey, the local doctor. I perform regular check-ups and medical procedures for all the residents of Pelican Town. It's rewarding work. I hope you'll find your own work equally rewarding, in time.”
“*Sigh*... I'm starting to feel kind of old... The older you get the more memories you're burdened with. It can be overwhelming. I think I'll stay younger with you around.”
“I hate to say this, but I do make a lot more money during flu season. I guess if people stopped getting sick, I'd be out of business. Don't get the wrong idea! I want people to be healthy... really!”
“Sam is an outgoing, friendly guy who is brimming with youthful energy. He plays guitar and drums, and wants to start a band with Sebastian as soon as he has enough songs together. However, he does have a habit of starting ambitious projects and not finishing them. Sam is a little stressed about the impending return of his father, who has been away for years due to his line of work.”
“Hey, how's it going? Last night I practiced guitar for 4 hours straight. My fingers hurt like crazy. Bye, I've got something to do.”
“I'm thankful for my guitar and my skateboard. Oh, and my family I guess.”
“The Feast of the Winter Star is supposed to be a time to show gratitude for all the good things in life.
Me? I'm mostly interested in the food. Hehe.”
“Sebastian is a rebellious loner who lives in his parents’ basement. He is Maru’s older half-brother, and feels like his sister gets all the attention and adoration, while he is left to rot in the dark. He tends to get deeply absorbed in his work, computer games, comic books, sci-fi novels, and will sometimes spend great lengths of time pursuing these hobbies alone in his room. He can be a bit unfriendly to people he doesn’t know. Could a charming new farmer cultivate the wasteland of his heart? Who knows?”
“If I just disappeared would it really matter?”
“Sam is probably my only friend in this town, anymore...”
“Hehe... It might be funny to put something disgusting in the potluck soup tomorrow. Just don't poison anyone. Why ruin the potluck? Hmm... I guess some people feel liberated when the rigid structures of society break down a little. Maybe I'm weird.”
"Shane is a villager in Pelican Town who is often rude and unhappy, and suffers from depression and alcohol dependence. However, his attitude starts to change towards any player who chooses to befriend him. He works at JojaMart most days between 9am and 5pm, and after work he frequently spends his evenings in The Stardrop Saloon."
“I don't know you. Why are you talking to me?”
“I guess I've grown attached to Marnie and Jas. We're a ragtag bunch but it kind of feels like a weird family. I never really had much of a family as a kid.”
“That's right... I'm not wearing any shoes or socks. Some call it a public health risk. The crabs seem to enjoy it, though.”
“Abigail lives at the general store with her parents. She sometimes fights with her mom, who worries about Abigail’s “alternative lifestyle”. Her mom has the following to say: “I wish Abby would dress more appropriately and stop dyeing her hair blue. She has such a wonderful natural hair color, just like her grandmother did.
“Oh that's right...I heard someone new was moving onto that old farm. It's kind of a shame, really. I always enjoyed exploring those overgrown fields by myself.”
“I went to the beach last night, after dark... Sometimes you can see strange lights bobbing over the sea. Or maybe that was just a dream I had... It doesn't feel real anymore.”
“Well, tomorrow is the flower dance. Dancing is alright, but they make me wear this stupid white dress...”
"Emily is a villager who lives in Pelican Town. She is one of the twelve characters available to marry. Her home is south of the town square, right next to Jodi's house, at the address 2 Willow Lane. She works most evenings at The Stardrop Saloon starting at about 4:00 PM. Emily loves to make her own clothing, but fabric can be difficult to come by in town. Among her favorite gifts are cloth and wool."
“Ooh!... I can read it on your face. You're going to love it here in Pelican Town. If you're ever looking for something to do in the evening, stop by the saloon. That's where I work!”
“I always knew something important would happen between us... I just never thought it would be this! The parrot is excited too.”
“Haley and I aren't made for such a big house. It's a hassle to keep it clean. Ah well. I really shouldn't be complaining. Your farmhouse seems nice and cozy.”
“Being wealthy and popular throughout high school has made Haley a little conceited and self-centered. She has a tendency to judge people for superficial reasons. But is it too late for her to discover a deeper meaning to life? Is there a fun, open-minded young woman hidden within that candy-coated shell?”
“Oh... you're that new farmer girl, aren't you? Huh? Oh... I'm Haley. Hmm... If it weren't for those horrendous clothes you might actually be pretty. Actually, nevermind.”
“I'm thinking about donating a bunch of clothes... I must have a hundred pairs of shoes.”
“Do you have baby bunnies on your farm? Bunnies are SO cute!”
“Leah lives alone in a small cabin just outside of town. She loves to spend time outside, foraging for a wild meal or simply enjoying the gifts of the season. She’s a talented artist with a large portfolio of work… yet she’s too nervous to display it to the public. Maybe you can give her a little confidence boost?”
“Hi. Oh, you want to talk? The landscape around here gives me a lot of ideas. The terrain is almost like a sculpture itself. I don't make art for money. It's just an urge that I have. Farming seems like a very rewarding profession. You get to create delicious food for everyone! You're probably busy. Sorry.”
“I never had many friends in town, so these events are always kind of boring for me. I enjoy the buffet, though.”
“I wonder if I could make a collage out of dried leaves? They're just so colorful... I can't help but think of the potential for art projects.”
“Growing up with a carpenter and a scientist for parents, Maru acquired a passion for creating gadgets at a young age. When she isn’t in her room, fiddling with tools and machinery, she sometimes does odd jobs at the local clinic. Friendly, outgoing, and ambitious, Maru would be quite a lucky match for a lowly newcomer such as yourself… Can you win her heart, or will she slip through your fingers and disappear from your life foreve
“Oh! Aren't you the one who just moved in? I'm Maru. I've been looking forward to meeting you! You know, with a small town like this, a new face can really alter the community dynamic. It's exciting!”
“I work at Harvey's clinic on Tuesdays and Thursdays. He's nice, but not really my type...”
“All these falling leaves will provide food for mushrooms and other small organisms. Interesting, isn't it?”
“Penny lives with her mom, Pam, in a little trailer by the river. While Pam is out carousing at the saloon, Penny quietly tends to her chores in the dim, stuffy room she is forced to call home. She is shy and modest, without any grand ambitions for life other than settling in and starting a family. She likes to cook (although her skills are questionable) and read books from the local library.”
“I'm eager to move out. It's such a burden to be worrying about Mom all the time. I want her to be happy, but I can't stay here forever... you know?”
“We don't have a school here but I'm doing my best to give Vincent and Jas a proper education. Every child deserves a chance to be successful. Jas is very good at math and reading. Vincent is good at... well, he has an active imagination”
“Are you friends with Linus? He lives in a tent up in the mountains. Everyone ignores him, the poor guy. He's actually really nice... Just a little odd. It must be so cold to live in a tent this time of year.”
Caroline is married to Pierre and they live with their daughter Abigail in Pierre's General Store.
“Hello! You must be Alex, the new farmer. I'm Caroline. My husband runs the general store here. And have you met my daughter, Abigail? She's the pale one with the purple hair.”
“I wish Abby wouldn't spend so much time in her room.”
“When we first moved to Pelican Town I would take secret walks to the Wizard's Tower. Don't tell Pierre, he has jealousy issues. Abigail was born about a year after we moved to Pelican Town. I wonder if she'll ever experience life outside the valley?”
Clint is a villager who lives in Pelican Town. He owns and runs the local Blacksmith.
“Dear Emily, I know you only think of me as a friend. It's my fault. I'm too shy. I'll never have the courage to tell you the truth. That's why I'm writing this letter to myself that I'll certainly crumple up and toss in the corner.”
“Er... hi. I'm Clint. I'm the town blacksmith. If you ever need to upgrade your tools, I'm your guy.”
“Damn it, I'm too old to do anything exciting anymore. All I have to look forward to is years and years of sweaty, hot furnace-work.”
Demetrius is a scientist who studies the valley's local wildlife. He can often be found working in his laboratory or outdoors taking notes.
“Greetings! I'm Demetrius, local scientist and father. Thanks for introducing yourself! I'm studying the local plants and animals from my home laboratory. Have you met my daughter Maru? She's interested to meet you.”
“Robin has a hot temper. It's better to stay on her good side. Don't tell her I said that.”
“Let's see... perhaps the nitrogen fixation level is affected by nematode secretions... Oh! Sorry. I was pondering some data and I didn't notice you there. Do you need anything?”
“Evelyn has lived in Pelican Town her entire life. Always hopeful and optimistic, "Granny" spends her days tending the town gardens, baking her signature cookies, and reminiscing about Stardew Valley's vibrant past.”
“Why, hello and welcome to our little community, dear! You can call me 'Granny' if you like.”
“It's nice to be so close to the ocean. The sound of the sea makes going to sleep a lot easier. As kids we hunted for seashells after the tide went out. Those were the days...”
“Today I'm baking cookies. They're shaped like little pumpkins. Maybe I'll tell you my recipe one of these days.”
A grumpy villager married to Evelyn. He had an accident earlier in life that left him without use of his legs.
“My grand-pap was a farmer. It's a respectable profession. If I wasn't so darned old I'd come to your farm and show you a thing or two...”
“Hmmph... It's irritating to have to meet all these new people, huh? Name's George, by the way. Now buzz off... Hmmph.”
“Aren't you cold? They don't make sweaters like they used to”
Gus is a villager who lives and works at The Stardrop Saloon in Pelican Town. He owns the establishment.
“Well hello there! I'm Gus, chef and owner of the Stardrop Saloon. Stop in if you need any refreshments. I've always got hot coffee and cold beer at the ready.”
“Pam and Clint come into the saloon almost every night. I'd probably go out of business if they stopped coming. So make sure you don't drive them away!”
“Eat as much as you like! It's all free today... compliments of Mayor Lewis. Oh! Make sure to dribble some of my secret sauce on there.”
Jas is a villager who lives just outside Pelican Town. She's a young girl, and can often be found with her best friend Vincent.
“Miss Penny is teaching me how to write in cursive. She has such pretty handwriting.”
“You can play with my dolls if you want to. Just make sure to brush their hair when you're done.”
“Sometimes I look for crawdads in the river. Don't tell Aunt Marnie... but I fed one to a cow once. She loved it.”
Jodi is a villager who lives in Pelican Town. She lives at 1 Willow Lane with her husband Kent (who is away serving in the military until the first of Spring Year 2) and two sons, Sam and Vincent.
“Oh! You aren't exactly how I imagined... but that's okay! I'm Jodi. It's a quiet little town, so it's very exciting when someone new moves in! Having a farmer around could really change things.”
“*sigh*... Sometimes I dream about life on my own... without a family to look after. Is that horrible? Don't tell anyone.”
“I loved playing in the snow when I was a kid. The great thing about being a mother is that I get to enjoy it again.”
Linus is a villager who lives in a small tent north of Pelican Town near The Mines. While you come to find that his lifestyle is by choice, the other villagers tend to judge him harshly.
“A stranger?... Hello. Don't mind me. I just live out here alone.”
“I have everything I need to survive, and more. Nature plays a wonderful tune if you can only learn to listen. I also spend a lot of time reading. One of the reasons I stopped in the valley was for the great library.”
“My old friend, the glimmering boulder, has moved on. It may not seem like an important event, but to me its a big change. I'm happy for the old rock to see more of the world, though.”
Marnie is a villager who lives at Marnie's Ranch in the northeast area of Cindersap Forest, near the southwest entrance to Pelican Town. She sells animals and animal supplies.
“Ah, Mayor Lewis told me you just arrived. I'm Marnie! I sell livestock and animal care products at my ranch. You should swing by some time.”
“Have you been to that strange tower west of my house? One time I heard this terrible, otherworldly noise coming from there. I would avoid that place if I were you...”
“I spilled a whole bucket of milk on the floor today, it was horrible. And such a waste of my poor Belinda's hard work.”
Pam is a villager who lives in the trailer just west of the river in Pelican Town. She was the driver of the Pelican Town bus before it broke down. She is the mother of Penny, and is constantly found at the Saloon due to her drinking problem.
“Hey, kid. The name's Pam. Don't be a jerk and we'll get along fine.”
“I was reading the newspaper this morning but then I got depressed. It's a rotten world, kid. Keep your head screwed on right and you'll make it through in one piece... That's what my Pappy always used to say. Heh heh heh.”
“I had hopes and dreams like you, once... But look at me now. Life doesn't always turn out like you expect. Ah well. There's no sense dwellin' on what you don't have.”
Pierre lives with his wife Caroline and their daughter Abigail behind his shop. On Friday evenings he socializes with other villagers at the saloon, but outside that he only interacts with others at his store. He feels threatened by JojaMart and Morris' attempts to draw his customers away from the store, and worries that he won't be able to make as much money because of this. He has a strained relationship with Abigail due to their different beliefs, as shown in a few cutscenes.
“Welcome! If you're looking for seeds, you've come to the right place!”
“This is a dream-come-true! You can't begin to imagine how much stress JojaMart was causing me. For a small town like this, one store is enough! There's too much social pressure for me to overcharge, anyway.”
“I'm happy to buy whatever you produce on the farm. Yes, I do resell it for a profit... but that's the benefit of being an established shop owner. Don't get any ideas...”
Vincent is a villager who lives in the southern part of Pelican Town. He's a young boy, and can often be found with his best friend Jas. He looks up to his brother and wants to be just like him when he grows up.
“Oh, a stranger! My name's Vincent. Momma says not to talk to strangers... But you seem okay.”
“"Dad seems weird since he came back. I wonder what happened to him? He doesn't play with me anymore.”
“I wanna look for bugs, but Mom gets mad when I'm all dirty. It's a tough choice.”
Willy is a villager who grew up traveling among the Fern Islands and now lives south of Pelican Town on The Beach. He sells bait and fishing supplies in his shop. His shop is open every day but will be closed on Saturday if the weather is nice enough for him to go fishing.
“Ahoy there! It's nice to see young folk movin' in to the valley. It's not very common these days.”
“If you purchase a high quality fishing rod, you'll be able to attach bait and tackle to the line. Bait causes fish to bite faster. Tackle can make your job a lot easier when reeling fish in. There are all kinds of tackle, with different perks. They're usually a little flimsy, so don't be surprised if your tackle breaks after a while.”
“Sometimes I'll hide an egg too well and no one finds it... Well, until summer rolls around. Then the hot air starts to bring out the rotten smell... Hehe.”
“Wizard studies the spirit world from his tower in cindersap forest. He is fluent in many elemental languages.”
The Wizard, also known as M. Rasmodius, is a villager who lives in the Wizard's Tower to the far west of Cindersap Forest.
It takes years of study to understand the language of the elementals. To actually speak their language requires a lifetime of devoted effort. Now, if you'll excuse me...”
“You musn't tell anyone... but I have reason to believe that one of the locals is actually my daughter... I could be mistaken... It's rare, but it does happen.”
“Sneaking off to visit my weird tower? You're odd for a mundane.”
Gunther is a villager who operates the Archaeology Center in Pelican Town.
Well, I just wanted to stop by and thank you in person for all the wonderful artifacts and minerals you've discovered... you've done so much for one person!
I have a gift for you... It's an old key that's been sealed in the museum vault for at least 100 years. It's a little rusty, but still beautiful.”
In fact, I've just received a letter from the office of the regional secretary of artifacts... We're being honored with the coveted 'golden shovel' award for our significant contributions to the field!
Marlon is a villager who lives in the Adventurer's Guild north of Pelican Town. He will buy any monster drops you get in the mines at the counter inside the guild. Players meet him the first time they enter the mines. He gifts them a Rusty Sword, and instructs them to descend into the mines exploring. Players must first complete the quest Initiation before being allowed admittance to the Adventurer's Guild.
“Even with my bad leg, I never miss a town festival.”
“I'll be back here by the trees... the air is a lot cooler.”
“Clint's blades get sharper every year. So do his prices...”
Morris is a villager who works at JojaMart in Pelican Town. He's the manager and also acts as the customer service representative.
"Come and get it folks...coupons for 50% off your purchase at JojaMart!"
"You are even weaker than your fresh produce selection!"
"Welcome to JajaMart! How are you doing today?
