Shattered Mirrors
Project Overview
Base Information:
A murder mystery and psychological horror of a perfect crime based on a deadly obsession. It's a passion project where I will make little/long animations and comics of these characters and their world. This does contain murder in it and a progression of a loss in sanity, so please be aware. This is just for fun and ongoing (so no real set deadlines) and will start off as just character voice work until I can build everything I need and finish up the story and make the full comics/visual novel. In the meanwhile, comics may just be meme-y or fun- or snippets of the story its as well as any animations and general things to progress the development of characters.
Base Lore:
Castiel is a local detective in Springpond, Washington during October of 1925. He usually works on cases involving cheating partners, domestic abuse, sometimes even poor attempts at drug rings to sprinkle in a little flavor. His latest case, however, is a series of murders involving the dead seemingly springing back to life according to the locals. Cas is on the case but could this mystery cost him his sanity as he becomes the killer’s next target?
NOTE: Currently there are only 4 characters listed. More characters will be added once descriptions for them are ready!
This project is just for fun and is ongoing so any sort of actual deadline will be announced once a majority of it is ready!

Base Role:
The lead protagonist, Castiel (28) is a detective in the small town/city of Springpond, Washington in October of 1925. He is put on a case solving a string of murders that may lead him to the killer or right to the end of his rope.
Base Character:
A very serious and quiet individual, he's kind and caring to those around him and deeply cares about his community and keeping it safe. He's protective and stern but soft hearted with those who he knows well. His quiet mannerisms and tendency to avoid too much small talk leave him seen as stoic but good at his job. A highly independent individual who avoids depending on others but is happy to let others depend on him - he descends in madness as he is stalked throughout the story.
Base Voice:
Has a some what deep and warm voice. His voice is a big gruff and has some rasp to it from his years smoking but no so heavy that it over takes his voice. May have a light Australian accent but that's optional! Below are some of his voice references.

You know I'm gonna sound real damn crazy but... I had a weird dream last night... or was it a feeling? Whatever it was Seamus, it freaked me out a good some in the morning- I thought Monty was sleeping at the foot of my bed but when I woke up Monty was out in the hall. Weird right? Maybe this case has unscrewed my lightbulb a bit... it was probably nothing. (confused and hesitant to speak)
He was in the mirrors- He was in the mirrors I SAW him. I'm not a FUCKIN LOON! He’s after me- he follows me everywhere- he’s- I can’t escape him! He’s going to kill Linc, please you have to believe me! (hysterical and upset)
Base Role:
Lincoln (20) is a lead character in Shattered Mirrors. They are a writer for the local news paper and help gather info with their ability and go and study at the local university on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. They stay by Cas' side through thick and thin but as the story progresses their will to stay with someone who is posing possible threat to their safety waivers.
Base Character
A journalist who loves reporting on crimes and murders, Lincoln enjoys to stick their nose into whatever mystery they can to try and expose it's filthy secrets and solve for it's roots. They're mouthy and a smart ass, never afraid to talk back with playful quick wit. They're sincere and genuine in their care for others and the people around themselves. Independent and headstrong, Lincoln's mental fortitude is tested throughout the story was they watch the slow car crash that is their brother Cas' mental health upon getting put on the Doppelgänger killer's case.
Base Voice:
They have an androgynous voice that may hint to a more feminine voice (as hormone therapies weren't available in the 20s). They're a young, fresh out of their teens and a whole 20 years old. Unlike their brother, they lack an accent. Below are some of their voice references.

Morning Cas! Yeesh! You look like you haven't gotten a wink of sleep- up before the rooster I see? How about we go see Mama for some breakfast instead of you burning our quaint little house down, yeah? (a bit mocking but concerned)
Seamus, I can't lie... I scared for Cas. He's not acting like himself and- and you aren't either. These murders have everyone all twisted up- I mean- no one's been this scared or hurting since the war and Cas hasn't been this bad since the Cali case... I won't lie I'm real worried.
What in the FUCK is wrong with you! First you're spewing shit like a crazy drunkard and then you're smashing the mirrors in our house? What is you're issue and then you fuckin hit me with a hammer? No- nonoNO- stay AWAY from me! I'm calling Jebediah! I- I don't know what the hell has happened to my brother but YOU aren't him- you can't be.
Base Role:
Seamus (27) is a lead role as a detective also on the case. They are Castiel's best friend and act as an important pillar of support and the most inclined to believe him throughout the story. As Castiel's mental health declines, the more Seamus does his best to help but ultimately may get caught up in the thick of it all. Ultimately he and Castiel likely become partners (but this is undecided as of the moment).
Base Character:
A very proud Irish immigrant, Seamus is Castiel’s closest coworker, drinking buddy, and fellow single man - often hangs out with him and enjoys a couple of drinks. Seamus is much more laid back and extroverted, happy to chatter with others and much better at any sort of information gathering with his people man personality. He's genuine and a sweetheart, going out of his way to check in on and care for others but he's head strong, stubborn and rambunctious. Too trusting at time, Seamus believes almost anyone can change and often holds his hand out to those who need help.
Base Voice:
Roughly in the middle of the road, not very high pitched but not very deep either. He has a general Irish accent but not incredibly thick has he did grow up in Washington from 10 years old and mainly picked up the accent from his years living and Ireland and mainly talking to his parents. Below are some of his voice references - note that these are more in vocal tone/pitch than in any sort of accent.

Hey Linc, hey Cas! What brings ya to the Tiger's Stripes eh? No offense but you two don't hang around here unless Cas get's asked to help by my Pa... ah to get drink then? Can go on complaining about that! Take a seat, I'll get ya some drinks on the house.
I thought I saw a guy outside my window once after Cas left my house one night but I was sure I was just tired… the more I look at this case the more I think that it was a little more than my imagination though. (Concerned)
Hey Cas, I'm really damn worried about you- I mean- look at you! Have you even slept in the past couple of days? How about we head back to my place and you can sleep on my couch or somethin' I'll make sure you're save and as snug as a bug in a rug, yeah? (sincere)
Base Role:
Samuel is a lawyer, a defense attorney to be exact. He is well liked by teh community and proves to have an odd interest in the case. He is 32 years old and keeps to himself, he isn't around too much but he doesn't need to be as he mainly works in his offices or rubbing elbows with the rich and powerful who heed his legal aid.
Base Character:
Sam is an incredibly persuasive, charismatic and lovable individual. Calm and collected, he plays through life as if everything is already built to his design and does well in pressure filled situations. He shows interest in chatting with Castiel and shows distain for Seamus. Sam finds Cas amusing instigates bickering and doubt - becomes someone Castiel talks to when the stalking gets worse and looks to for legal advice. Cocky and smug, he finds the whole mess amusing, looking forward to a challenge.
Base Voice:
His voice is in the middle range, maybe delving a bit into a deeper voice. He is calm and collected and speaks with no hurry as if he already knows what you're going to say. Because of his character, however, go as wild as you wish and have fun- I don't have a set voice in mind if I'm being honest. Below are some voice references:

Ah twiddle dee and twiddle dumb solving the case yet again. How... cute. Though this one seems tricky, although you must like tricky don't you Seamus, Cas? Though you seem to be finding these victims... quite later to their death dates. It'll be hard to collect any evidence against such a killer... good luck you two. You'll need it. (mocking)
Quiet now Detective, wouldn't want to wake up Lincoln now would you? Go back to sleep, you're face is pretty when it's relaxed now. Hush, hush. Don't bother giving me that look, my reasons for doing this are obvious if you glanced at those bodies for more than a second. (calm and collected, almost loving)

Base Role:
Freddy (25) is a main side character in Shattered Mirrors, Freddy is the newest bartender at the local speakeasy in town. He acts a lighthearted personality in this dark story and brings some light to everyone with his tales of adventure throughout America and generally sunny disposition. He acts as a friend and a person to confide in for many characters in the story.
Base Character:
Friendly, clumsy, and optimistic, Freddy is a little ray of sunshine in this lighthearted town. He brings glass half full view to the dread that grips the town when murders arise. He is a bit nosy and gets along well with the lead cast, he likes to joke and play with others to liven up their moods and is generally just a good guy.
Base Voice:
Young and ready for life, he has a youthful voice full of enthusiasm and energy. His voice is in the mid-range and he speaks quickly to get his thoughts out. I don't have any voice references for Freddy as of the moment, so feel free to interpret him as you like!

I didn't do it! You have to believe me- I'd- I'd NEVER wanna hurt no body! Hey, I get it I'm the new guy in town I travel from place to place- easy cover up but I wouldn't ever hurt anyone like that. You gotta believe me! Come on! Cas? Seamus? Linc- Linc PLEASE. You gotta understand I didn't- I wouldn't do that! (a bit hysterical as he's pleading for his friends to believe him)
Haha - reaaaal funny, prank the guy that don't know any better, huh? Well, I can't say I'm mad... or disappointed but you owe me a new drink AND a new shirt for that one! (a little annoyed but playful)
