Overlord Volume 2: The Dark Warrior Audiobook (Fan project)
Project Overview
It has been a week since Momonga logged in to his favorite RPG one last time and stranded himself there. Now he leads his guild as the Ainz Ooal Gown overlord. Finding himself in dire need of better information, he travels disguised as an adventurer to the walled city of E-Rantel, with Narberal the battle maid at his side. The pair accept a mission to retrieve medicinal herbs, making for a forest said to be the home of a great and wise beast. But the sinister influence of a fanatical cabal approaches E-Rantel, and the armor-clad Ainz will face both a ruthless warrior and a legion of the undead!
This unofficial audiobook series aims to bring the light novel version of Overlord to life with different voices for each character, and 2 narrators (we have one, but we need one more) to describe all the brutal details of this series. The series is being uploaded to YouTube. Since the first volume has been completed, work has begun with making an audiobook for Volume 2, starting with this casting call!
**REQUIREMENTS**
1.) You have to have either read the light novel or watch the anime (each season is only 13 episodes long so it shouldn't be too much of an issue) that way you have a basic idea on the story and the characters.
2.) Have a good microphone, an audiobook isn't good if the quality of the microphone is crappy.
3.) Have fun

this role will have the most amount of lines in this project, seeing as how you will be reading what is happening in a scene. You will be reading for the parts that don't have Ainz as the character we're following.
As Ainz left the room, Narberal sighed deeply.
Then she rubbed the corner of her eyes, and her eyes, previously filled with a keen expression, drooped powerlessly. Her face looked completely relaxed. Even her ponytail seemed to have lost its energy and hung limply down.
However, she still recalled her supreme master’s orders.Albedo’s cry of delight made Narberal furrow her brows. That excited voice was starting to annoy her.
With a voice that suggested she might burst into dance at any moment, Albedo continued babbling about what she would do next, and how things had to be, and then suddenly, she asked in a calm voice:Sensing something like a color upon the wind, Britta sniffed several times, like a dog.
She was not mistaken — the air contained a greenish scent. This odor came from mysterious drugs and crushed plants. The smell told Britta that she was at her destination.
Britta continued forward, to a place where the smell was stronger than just now. Peering left and right, she walked on until she was in front of the largest house.
The protagonist/main character and the only remaining member of the Guild of Ainz Ooal Gown. Originally he was a simple salaryman playing a VR online game, but after he was transported to the New World, he decides to make himself a legend in hopes of finding his old guildmates. To facilitate his search, he changes his name from Momonga to Ainz Ooal Gown.
when talking to others, such as an ally or an enemy his voice should be deep, commanding, and make sure you can show off a wide range of emotions.
In volume 2 of the light novel, when he arrives to the fortress city of E-Rantel, he takes on the persona of an adventurer named Momon (pronounced like "moe-mawn") this persona is dignified, honorable and faithful. His voice shouldn't sound different from his normal lich voice.
“—No, my name is Momon. Nor are you Narberal Gamma, Pleiades' battle maid of the Great Tomb of Nazarick, but Nabe, Momon’s adventuring partner.”
[amused] "(chuckle for 5 seconds)…Oh, it’s nothing. I couldn’t help but laugh at the way you sound like a stereotypical punk. Don’t worry about it.”
[Angry, then remorseful] “That day will never come! ...Forgive me. Nabe, I’ll have my dinner over there.”

when he is talking to himself he should sound hardly confident of himself, but he shouldn't sound like a total wimp.
“[shocked] Women are really scary… no, it’s just these two who are especially scary…”
[Embarrassed] If only she could hide her inner thoughts while traveling around humans..."
[pondering] "With a name like “Wise King of the Forest”, it might be an animal previously thought extinct… like a monkey perhaps… ah, an orangutan? That name means “man of the forest”... or was that “sage”? And it has a snake for a tail… does a monster like that exist?”
One of the Guardians of the Sixth floor of Nazarick, alongside her twin brother Mare. She takes on the form of a young Dark Elf who cross-dresses as a boy. She is also very energetic and extroverted, in contrast with her brother. Despite constantly bickering, she is very close to Shalltear, unintentionally mimicking the relationship between their creators.
She should sound cheerful when she speaks.
[playful] “Yup~ that’s why I’m here.”
“The order you gave me to ‘investigate and control the interior of the forest, verify if there are any lifeforms willing to obey Nazarick, and set up a resource storehouse’ is going well, Lord Ainz.”
[cheerful] “Shall we kill it? If you kill it, I’d like its hide. It looks like it would make a great pelt…”
The Guardian of the First, Second, and Third floors of Nazarick. She takes on the form of a beautiful vampire girl. She is set to be somewhat of a pervert, causing her to fall for Ainz and putting her at odds with Albedo. her voice should sound archaic and formal. but when she is mad, speak with venom in your voice.
[flirtatious] “Naturally, it was to admire your handsome features, Lord Ainz.”
[annoyed] “…It is basic courtesy to greet someone politely before launching into the main issue… Aged old hags are so annoying. Could it be that they're desperate because they’re past their expiration date?”
[Angry] “…A food display? You’ll die for that, bitch.”
Eclair has great pride in being the assistant butler of the Great Tomb of Nazarick to the point of arrogance. Carrying himself with an enormous ego of self-worth, one of his greatest desires is to sit upon the throne of Nazarick. Though Eclair understands this act is treasonous to the Forty-One Supreme Beings and likely due to him also understanding that his creator specifically made him to be this way, he still respects them highly.
“I must work hard in Lord Sebas’s place when he is not around. In fact, I was discussing the finer points of my duties with Mistress Albedo.”
[confident] “My talent lies in overcoming the clumsiness of these hands and cleaning house,”
[prideful] “I am no mere penguin, but a rockhopper penguin made by Lord Ankoro Mochimochi of the Supreme Beings. Please do not confuse me with such animals. Also, these are not my hands -- but wings.”
Nfirea is a nice, calm, and timid person. He works hard at making potions with his grandmother every day. He also has a minor inferiority complex, due to comparing himself to Ainz. Since Nfierea is voiced by a woman in the show, i have no preference if anyone who auditions for him is a man or woman. Try going for a voice similar to the one done by Morgan Berry in the dub if possible.
for reference, his name is pronounced like "nfear-ea Bah-ree-are"
“The receptionist mentioned it earlier, but I think it would be best if I introduced myself. I am Nfirea Bareare, and I work as an herbalist in this city. As for the details of the job, I will soon be heading into the nearby forest as planned. Since everyone knows the forest is dangerous, I was hoping that you could be my guardians, as well as helping to harvest herbs if possible.”
“—Please hold on a moment. The task of bodyguarding suits you well. In that case, Mr Peter, would you like me to take you on instead?”
[talking to a friend] “Ah. Is that so. Mm… whew. [sigh in relief] Yes, of course you need to thank him. If you noticed any special features, or if he reminded you of someone, maybe it would narrow down the field… right, do you know what sort of magic he used?”
Though a seemingly old woman, Lizzie Bareare is still quite sharp for her age. Highly knowledgeable about the makeup, properties, and lore of potions. She also has a demanding and fastidious personality. Her intense gaze gives other people the shivers.
for reference her last name is pronounced as "Bah-ree-are"
[shocked and in amazement] “This potion… did you bring it here? ...A legendary potion? No, could it be… God’s Blood? What on earth is this potion?”
“What a shrinking violet you are. Just give me a straight answer — where did you get it from? Did you steal it? Hm?”
“...You must have come here to learn about this potion’s effects, right? This potion is around the level of a 2nd-tier healing spell. Not counting added value from its rarity, it would fetch around 8 gold pieces. That said, once you factor that extra value in, the price is enough that people would murder you for it.”
He welcomes Ainz and Narberal to the inn. He is very dismissive of Ainz due to him being a copper plate when he first enters. The Innkeeper appears to maintain a harsh attitude towards his customers. He seems to be a gruff and an irritable man. However, he is a good man but was hardly a good Samaritan.
[curious] “A room, huh. For how long?”
[uninterested] “...A copper-plate, huh. A night is five coppers. The food’s oatmeal and vegetables; meat’s an extra copper. Might be getting days-old bread instead of the oatmeal.”
[Snarky] “...In this town, there’s three inns that cater to adventurers, and mine’s the worst of these three… you know why the guild sent you here?”
Brita is an iron ranked adventurer whose hard-earned healing potion was broken by Momon but was compensated with a new, but unknown one which fortunately saved her life. Feel free to do what you want with the voice.
[scream in annoyance and anger]
[angry and annoyed] “...I starved and scrimped and saved to buy that potion today! And now you broke it! I’ve always believed that I could get through a dangerous adventure as long as I had a potion, but now you’ve shattered my hopes and dreams! And you’ve still got an attitude like that? Ahhhh! It Pisses me off!”
[curious] “...I’ve never seen a healing potion of this color before. It might be a rare treasure. If I delayed and he said he would pay in cash, I’d be coming back from the dragon’s den with nothing to show for it, right? In any case, I’ll take it for appraisal tomorrow and find out how much it’s worth.”
One of the lower ranking adventurers who tries to pick a fight with Ainz. he has a very cocky attitude, he is the type of person who gets annoyed when you don't give their attempts to annoy you any attention.
[mocking tone of voice] “Oi, oi, that hurt.”
[angrily] “...Bastard.”
[cocky] “You’re an annoying fellow… But I’m a generous man. As long as you lend me your woman for a night, I’ll forgive you.”
She is the receptionist of the Adventurer's Guild. She is by the books and tends to keep a calm head on her shoulders.
“Then, please select a piece of parchment from over there and bring it here.”
[hesitant] “I’m very sorry, but this job is only for mithril-plate adventurers…”
“...I am very sorry, but we cannot let you take this job due to the rules.”
Peter is a cheerful and nice person. He possesses great leadership within his adventurer team.
“I’m the leader of the ‘Swords of Darkness’, Peter Mauk. That fellow over there is the eyes and ears of our team, the ranger Lukrut Volve.”
“I think his talent had something to do with being suited to studying magic, and he only took four years to learn what should have taken eight years. I’m not a magic caster, so I’m not sure how great that is.”
"Wonderful, I hope we’ll get along. Then, Mr Momon, just address me by my first name. Right, while it feels a little wrong to get to business so abruptly, we should probably start discussing the job. As for that, the truth is what we’re asking you for doesn’t really qualify as work.”
Lukrut has a flirtatious personality when dealing with those of the opposite sex. He is an optimist, even when faced with rejection and was tenacious in overcoming challenges of the heart. While seemingly acting like a buffoon, he is serious when the situation called and has a strong sense of duty as an adventurer.
[smugly] “I see, the reason why we don’t know you at all despite that stylish full plate and your beautiful companion is because you’re not from around here, am I right?”
[passionate] “I’ve fallen for you! It’s love at first sight! Please go out with me!”
“Movement. There and Over there. We shouldn’t force our way in. If they don’t leave the forest, we’ll leave them alone.”
Ninya is a a humble and good person within the Swords of Darkness. Despite her good personality, she has a strong hatred to nobles, as her older sister was taken by a noble when she was a mere villager, which is why she is dedicated to become a stronger adventurer and bring her back. She is a girl pretending to be boy so she could join the swords of Darkness so try going for a voice Similar to Either Tails from the Sonic the hedgehog or Chihiro from Danganronpa.
[embarrassed] "Peter, can you please not use that embarrassing nickname?”
[hopeful] “That’s true. Still, there’s three of them left; let’s work hard so we can be strong enough to take them into possession.”
[remorseful] "...I think I said something I shouldn’t have. I know what it’s like to lose someone, so why didn’t I put myself into his shoes?”
Dyne is a friendly individual who gives good advice to others when needed. He should have the voice of an older and kind dad who's willing to hear you out.
[cheerful] “Pleased to meet you!”
[trying to get the group on track in a conversation] “...We’re getting sidetracked here! We shouldn’t be talking about this sort of thing in front of our comrades, Mr Momon and Miss Nabe.”
("nabe" is pronounced like "nah-bae" and "Momon" is pronounced like "moe-mawn")[surprised] “Miss Nabe, you didn’t know?… Well, it’s not as though it’s unforgivable. He was one of the Thirteen Heroes, but because people thought he had demonic ancestry, he ended up being more of an anti-hero instead. Therefore, his origins were covered up in the saga of the Thirteen Heroes… though I’ve heard that he was a very powerful person.”
When Enri Emmot used the Horn of the Goblin General, its magic brought forth the Goblin Troop. Led by Jugem, the Goblin Troop swore fealty to Enri. As the goblin integrated themselves in human society they helped restore and protect Carne Village. Since these are voices for different goblins they'll sound different, but generally try going for a bit of a gruff voice and keep your voice normal pitched.
[calm but stern] “Heya pal, could you put down your weapons, please?”
[cocky with a light chuckle] “...Hehe, you caught me, huh?”
[calm but cautious] “The boss’s village was recently attacked by people dressed up as Imperial knights, we’re just staying on guard.”
Hamsuke is very boastful and prideful of her ability and power as the 'Wise King'. However, since meeting Ainz and witnessing the power of the denizens of Nazarick, she has seen how vastly inferior she is in comparison to them. She tends to speak in old English with "thou art" and the like.
[surprised] “How spectacular; to think thou could endure the blow of this one. Perhaps this is the first time this one hath encountered a foe possessed of such prowess.”
[curious] “Hm… This one prays thee enlighten me on that matter. This one is a living being and must procreate. If others of this one’s breed exist, then this one must go forth and multiply, lest this one become a failure as a living being.”
[Scared and grateful] “Th-thank you very much! This one shall offer absolute fealty to thee for the gift of this one’s life! The life of the Wise King of the Forest shall be an offering to the great warrior, Lord Ainz Ooal Gown!”
Clementine is a sadistic psychopath, obsessed with inflicting pain and torture on others. While others may have become twisted and corrupt due to harsh experience or a terrible upbringing, Clementine laughs off such suppositions about her past and clearly states that she has always been monstrous of her own choosing without external factors influencing her.
Clementine is as crazy as crazy gets in Overlord, she should be able to switch from a happy go lucky psychopath to a serious woman when in combat with someone strong. Be sure you can give some good screams you'll need them for this role.
[in a playful and slightly singing tone of voice] “Hi~ I’m here to meet Khaji~ he’s supposed to be here, is he~?”
[cheerful and on the verge of laughter] “Correct~ I saw a cute girl wearing this strange crown, but it looked so wrong on her head that I took it off~ And then I was sooooo surprised! She went mad~ peeing and crapping herself~”
[annoyed] “—Are you stupid? You’re just swinging your swords with raw strength and speed, wildly swiping around like a kid with a stick. You might have a sword in each hand, but if you don’t know how to use them, then sticking to one sword would be wiser. Aren’t you taking the warrior business a little too lightly?”
Khajiit is quite evil wishing to create a second undead city and turn himself into a Lich. He seems to have no problem with sacrificing thousands of innocent people in order to achieve his goal. His patience and need for planning demonstrate his meticulous character as he prepared for the Death Spiral for five years. Give him a voice that gives him an air of intelligence, but also able to pull of the "power hungry mage" voice.
[annoyed] “Can you not address me like that? It’ll damage the reputation of Zuranon.”
[Shocked] “The symbol of a Miko Princess, the Crown of Wisdom! This is one of the treasures of the Slaine Theocracy!”
[crazily laughing and cocky] “Fuhahahaha! Skeletal Dragons and their absolute immunity to magic are a magic caster’s worst nightmare, aren’t they?!”
a group of Goblins and Ogres that attacked Momon, Nabe, and the Swords of Darkness. They're simply fodder, so feel free to give them any kind of voice.
[Various laughs, death sounds, and feral noises]
[Terrified] “Run!”
[Terrified] “Run away! Run away!”
This unfortunate worker has the displeasure of having to deal with clementine in the task of gathering information on Nfierea Bareare. But he was betrayed by her and his team was killed, leaving him as the sole survivor, he should have a combination of panic and anger
[panicked, confused, angry] “Why, why are you doing this?”
[panicked and angry] “Then all you needed to do was ask! Weren’t you planning to do that in the first place?!”
[under mind control, and calm] “Mm, no, it’s fine,”
Background Adventurers who talk about Momon and Nabe among themselves.
“...It seems he’s as strong as he looks.”
“Yeah, that’s it. His arm strength is unbelievable, how did he train it?”
“He must be pretty confident to carry no weapons besides those two greatswords.”
These unfortunate souls have the unlucky duty to guard the kingdom's graveyard and deal with any undead that try to escape, and they have found themselves at the frontlines of the largest gathering of undead. Since there are multiple guards, make sure you do different voices. Some of the guards have more lines than others, but none of them are named.
[dismissive] “You’re thinking too much. There aren’t that many undead normally. They say that they only pop up frequently when they bury the corpses of the people who died while fighting the Empire. So on the flip side, this is what happens when there aren’t any big wars, right?”
[getting devoured by zombies and dying] “Save, save me! Someone save me! Agyaaaah!”
[in shock] “Oi, did that actually happen? That warrior… there were undead like that, and so many of them, and he broke right through them… went straight ahead.”
