Ocarina of Time: English Dub - A 20th Anniversary Tribute
Project Overview
Ocarina of Time: English Dub is an upcoming fan dub project produced and distributed by ZeldaUniverse.net. This voice over dub will be releasing in November of 2018, celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The series will be split into three full length acts (videos), released on the official Zelda Universe YouTube channel.
As a major English Dub project, the team at Zelda Universe is looking to cast not only voice actors but musicians as well! We're aiming to cover a majority of the video game's soundtrack with covers and music created by the fans. So if you are not into voice acting, do know that we want musicians to play a part as well! You can find information about that below where we're recruiting music talent.
***WE ARE LOOKING FOR BOTH ACTORS, SINGERS AND MUSICIANS***
Have you ever thought or dreamed about bringing life to your favorite Zelda characters? Come audition and share your voice with us! We wanna hear what you got! Don't miss out on this opportunity before the deadline passes. Come be a part of ZU's next biggest Zelda dub project, as we return to Hyule... and go back through time to save the world!

Here are a couple of guidelines to take into consideration when you are auditioning:
1. ONLY SUBMIT AUDITIONS YOU RECORD -- This has never become a problem in the past, but this is just a common sense rule we want to make clear. We wanna hear your amazing voice if it comes from you.
2. DO NOT HARASS OR BULLY OTHER ACTORS -- Another common sense rule, but one we've had issue with in the past. Please don't be condescending or a jerk to others in general. Nobody, not even in the professional business, would want to work with those who act at an immature level or destructive attitude. If you are seen doing this then you are allowing yourself to not be considered for any role for the project.
3. SUBMIT ONLY 1 AUDITION PER CHARACTER -- This is a rule we ought to make more clear; when you're submitting for a character, we want you to compile all of your sides (the lines provided for a given character) into one audio file (preferably .mp3 or .wav). Please do not send your auditions three times with each different side; this will result in either us (or the site) rejecting your auditions. If you would like to redo your audition, you're welcome to remove it and re-upload a new audition. Your latest audition will be considered.
4. RECORD WITH A QUALITY MICROPHONE: This is a big one, and it'll play a factor into casting. Simply put, if you do not have at least a decent sounding microphone or recording device, there's a chance your audition will suffer. This is the case of us not being able to hear or understand your clearly in your auditions. We understand that not everybody can afford a fancy microphone, but there's a variety of ways you can work around that. Your smartphone can work as a means to record audio, or you can go online and find a decently priced mic to record with. We recommend AT2020, while pricey, it'll serve you well in the long run. We also recommend that you check out all available microphones and read into what recording device will do best work with your voice. [Also, make sure you watch your audio levels (so they don't peak) and/or have your voice bounce off the mic, creating a booming sound. This is why it's crucial to playback your auditions before you submit!]
5. KNOW THAT YOU ARE AUDITIONING VOLUNTARILY: This is something we want to be transparent with everyone, so you know what you're getting into. First off, as it stands, this project is fan made and produced. Therefore, we cannot hold you to any contract or signed agreement. This means you're welcome to join or leave the project for whatever reason (so long as you are direct with the leaders of the project). This is a non-paid project; nobody in this project is getting paid. (not even the director or the editor; we do this because we love making these dubs) This does not mean you're working for nothing. As a voluntarily member of the project, you're enlisted as a staff member at Zelda Universe, which opens a lot of potential doors for you in the future. Being part of our project allows for fun and exciting opportunities such as being part of our convention panels/events, attending E3 & more. You also get listed as Media/Voice Actor in our public discord! (https://discord.gg/SRrpRt)
6. AUDITION FOR AS MANY ROLES AS YOU LIKE: There's no limit. If you audition for Saria, but also want to audition for Zelda, there's nobody stopping you! If you feel up to it, audition for all the roles if you desire!
7. ALL ACTORS RECORD REMOTELY: This is a frequently asked question over the course of all our projects; NO, you do not have to move or relocate to record for the project. All actors who are cast will need to record in their local area, whether that's at home or in a recording booth to their availability. Remember, your closet and blankets are your best friend~
8. SEND US YOUR DEMO (if applicable): This isn't a requirement for auditioning, but if you happen to have a voice over demo reel or resume, please email it to us at voices[at]zeldauniverse[dot]net! You can even submit it with your auditions here as well, wherever applicable. We'll potentially be scouting actors for additional roles outside of the casting call, or even if we need an actor to fill in a vacant role. This helps us stay connected to you!
9. PRACTICE ENCOURAGEMENT & SUPPORT OTHER ACTORS: We want those who are auditioning to check out the other auditions and give words of encouragement. We'd like for y'all to branch out and see who you're auditioning with. We welcome inclusion and seeing everyone grow as actors and talent. Spread the love and share some words of advice or compliments if you feel the need. <3
10. HAVE FREAKIN' FUN: This project is meant to be fun and exciting, and we're thrilled to have you all be involved with the audition process. We get excited when you are all excited~

IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO AUDITION AS A SINGER, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BELOW:
Singers in this project will be involved in a variety of ways; we will be seeking a group of people to work together to perform as a chorus for the Chamber of the Sages, where we are looking to cast male and female performers. This will not be including any lyrics. We're also looking to cast these singers to potentially sing other melodies such as Epona's Song (if not performed by the character, Malon) & many more.
All singers who wish to be considered are to submit a demo reel here; at least 30 seconds, no more than 1 minute. You may include parts of your covers, original songs, etc. Be sure to slate so we know this is your demo submission. (Slate = saying your full name at the beginning of the demo)
[Share a demo reel of your singing / vocal range; this is to apply for all singing opportunities]
IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO AUDITION AS A MUSICIAN, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BELOW:
We are attempting to cover (at least the majority of) the music of the Ocarina of Time soundtrack. Our goal in this aspect is to showcase a lot of these tracks with covers done by fans of the series and experienced musicians alike. You could have already made a cover of a given song before or you could make one anew upon the start of this production.
What we would like from all our musicians here is to submit an audio demo reel of your musical expertise. You may showcase any and all instruments that you can perform (singing can be included, but we've made a separate audition for singers below). We recommend that each audition is no more than a minute long. You may use music only produced by you, whether its an original cover or fan cover.
Be sure to slate so we know this is your demo submission. (Slate = saying your full name at the beginning of the demo)

Can you see the man with the evil eyes? That is Ganondorf, the leader of the Gerudos. They hail from the desert far to the west. Though he swears allegiance to my father, I am sure he is not sincere.
Link...Can you hear me? It's me, Zelda... Link, when you hold this Ocarina in your hand... I won't be around anymore... I wanted to wait for you, but I couldn't delay any longer... At least I could leave you the Ocarina and this melody...
VOICE RANGE: MEDIUM
Princess Zelda, as an adult, appears later into the story of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. She once again plays a major role in taking down Ganondorf. Her character traits are still retained when she was just a child, but her characteristics of a regal and elegant princess must come first. She was in hiding for seven years in order to hide herself from Ganondorf. Princess Zelda holds the Triforce of Wisdom, a power most desired by the king of evil.
Character traits should include: (same as Child Princess Zelda)
I apologize for meeting you in disguise, but it was necessary to hide from the King of Evil. Please forgive me. I passed myself off as a Sheikah and hoped that you would return. I waited for seven years...
I'm using my power to hold the Evil King! You use your sword and deliver the final blow!
All the tragedy that has befallen Hyrule was my doing... I was so young...I could not comprehend the consequences of trying to control the Sacred Realm. I dragged you into it, too. Now it is time for me to make up for my mistakes...
VOICE RANGE: MEDIUM to LOW
Sheik, the last survivor of the Sheikahs, is a mysterious figure that appears in the future Hyrule. Character traits should include: Wise, direct, philosophical, knowledgeable, mysterious, collective, quiet.
I've been waiting for you, Hero of Time...
When evil rules all, an awakening voice from the Sacred Realm will call those destined to be Sages, who dwell in the five temples. One in a deep forest... One on a high mountain... One under a vast lake... One within the house of the dead... One inside a goddess of the sand... Together with the Hero of Time, the awakened ones will bind the evil and return the light of peace to the world...
Time passes, people move… like a river’s flow, it never ends… A childish mind will turn to noble ambition... Young love will become deep affection... The clear water's surface reflects growth... Now listen to the Serenade of Water to reflect upon yourself....
VOICE RANGE: LOW to MEDIUM
Kaepora Gaebora (KAY-pour-uh GEH-bore-uh) is an intelligent and wise owl that appears constantly during Link's adventure. He comes across as a friendly and guiding being, but has a tendency to talk a lot... as if there was somebody even listening to him.
Character traits should include: Wise, intelligent, knowledgeable, friendly, eager, guiding.
Hoo hoot! Link... Look up here! It appears that the time has finally come for you to start your adventure! You will encounter many hardships ahead... That is your fate. Don't feel discouraged, even during the toughest times! Go straight this way and you will see Hyrule Castle. You will meet a princess there...
[Auditionees: use this time to ad lib as Kaepora Gaebora. Talk as if you're going on about something, yet nobody is listening to you.]
Do you want me to repeat what I just said?
VOICE RANGE: MEDIUM to LOW
Rauru (RAH-rew) is one of the Sages of Hyrule, whom Link meets after waking from his seven year sleep. He is the true form of Kaepora Gaebora, the very owl that guides Link across Hyrule. He is the first to tell Link what has transpired in those seven years of his absence.
Character traits to include: Wise, intelligent, collective, guiding, a leader, knowledgeable
The Master Sword is a sacred blade which evil ones may never touch.... Only one worthy of the title of "Hero of Time" can pull it from the Pedestal of Time.... However, you were too young to be the Hero of Time.... Therefore, your spirit was sealed here for seven years.
Though you opened the Door of Time in the name of peace... Ganondorf, the Gerudo King of Thieves, used it to enter this forbidden Sacred Realm! He obtained the Triforce from the Temple of Light, and with its power, he became the King of Evil...
The time for the final showdown with the King of Evil has come! Before that, though, you should meet the one who is waiting for you... The one who is waiting for you at the Temple of Time...
VOICE RANGE: MEDIUM to HIGH
Saria (SAR-ree-uh) is a Kokiri from Kokiri Forest, and a close friend to Link. She is well-liked among the Kokiri. She plays a song that inspires people to dance called "Saria's Song". Saria is the first of the Kokiri to greet Link after he receives a fairy of his own. She congratulates him for finally finding a Fairy and is surprised to hear that the Great Deku Tree has summoned Link, as it is a great honor to speak with him.
Character traits should include: Friendly, kind, sweet, thoughtful, supportive, caring.
Wow! A fairy!! Finally, a fairy came to you, Link! Wow! That's great news! I'm so happy for you! Now you're a true Kokiri, Link!

Character traits should include: Rash, rough, harsh (at first), gentle, passionate, strong, a leader
What the heck? Who are you?! When I heard the song of the Royal Family, I expected their messenger had arrived, but... you're just a little kid! Has Darunia, the big boss of the Gorons, really lost so much status to be treated like this by his Sworn Brother, the King? Now, I'm REALLY angry!
Kid, I like you! How's about you and I become Sworn Brothers?! No, there's no big ceremony involved! Just take this as a token of our friendship! Brother!
Thank you, Brother! I really appreciate what you did. I thank you on behalf of the entire Goron race! You turned out to be a real man, just as I thought you would!
VOICE RANGE: HIGH to MEDIUM
[NOTE: As we are looking to voice all the Zora's with a British/English dialect, this goes the same for Princess Ruto (Child & Adult). This is not a requirement, but it is something to keep in mind about the casting process.]
Princess Ruto (REW-toe) is the princess of the Zora tribe that resides in Zora's Domain. As a child, she first comes off as rude and selfish, but after being saved by Link, she begins to develop strong, romantic feelings towards the hero (totally tsundere...), much to his surprise. She bestows Link the Zora Sapphire, which she also sees as the Zora Engagement Ring, as her mother instructed her to give it to the man she wishes to marry... you know where this is going...
Character traits should include: Sophisticated, arrogant, rude, bratty, childish, cheeky
You? Who are you?! I am Ruto, Princess of the Zoras. What?! Are you saying my father asked you to come her to save me? I'd never ask anyone to do such a thing!
You're that worried about me? Then I will give you the honor of carrying me! However...I won't leave until I find the thing I'm looking for. You'd better believe me!
You mean the Spiritual Stone of Water, Zora's Sapphire, don't you? My mother gave it to me and said I should give it only to the man who will be my husband. You might call it the Zora's Engagement Ring!
VOICE RANGE: MEDIUM
[NOTE: As we are looking to voice all the Zora's with a British/English dialect, this goes the same for Princess Ruto (Child & Adult). This is not a requirement, but it is something to keep in mind about the casting process.]
Princess Ruto, as an adult, appears in the future Hyrule, and much to her surprise, she is rescued by Sheik when Zora's Domain is frozen over. She hurries to the Water Temple in order to stop the evil monster that has laid a curse onto her people. She's very determined to live up to her title as princess, and eagerly awaits her fiancee's return...
Character traits should include: Same as Princess Ruto (Child), but much more mature as a whole, can be very playful and teasing
Oh...you... If I'm right... Link?! You're Link, aren't you? It's me, your fiancée, Ruto! Princess of the Zoras! I never forgot the vows we made to each other seven years ago! You're a terrible man to have kept me waiting for these seven long years...
Link... I would have expected no less from the man I chose to be my husband. As a reward...I grant my eternal love to you. Well, that's what I want to say, but I don't think I can offer that now.
You're searching for the princess, Zelda? Hah! You can't hide anything from me! Princess Zelda... She's alive. I can sense it...so don't be discouraged.
VOICE RANGE: MEDIUM to LOW
[NOTE: Accent recommendations; we'ere looking to give Impa an accent within the European dialect, such as Russian, German, Swedish, etc. NOT A REQUIREMENT.]
Impa is the guardian of Princess Zelda, as well as the leader of the Sheikah tribe, a group that lives to protect the Royal Family. She guides Link to head to Kakariko Village, the foot of Death Mountain, where he must obtain the Spiritual Stone from the Gorons.
Character traits should include: Direct, protective, a leader, confident, strong, independent, wise, intelligent
I am Impa of the Sheikahs. I am responsible for protecting Princess Zelda. Everything is exactly as the Princess foretold. You are a courageous boy... You are heading out on a big, new adventure, aren't you?
The song I just taught you has some mysterious power. Only Royal Family members are allowed to learn this song. Remember, it will help to prove your connection with the Royal Family.
My duty bound me to take Zelda out of Ganondorf's reach. When last I saw you, as we made our escape from the castle, you were just a lad... Now I see that you have become a fine hero...
VOICE RANGE: MEDIUM to LOW
[NOTE: We would like to have the Gerudo speak with a slight/moderate African or Middle Eastern accent. Not a requirement.]
Nabooru (ne-BOAR-oo) is a Gerudo that hails to the west of Hyrule, Gerudo Desert. She is the second-in-command of Ganondorf, being her only superior. Nabooru is highly respected by the other Gerudo, who are unaware of her rebellion against Ganondorf. She is a lone wolf thief, and plots to ruin Ganondorf's plans. She encounters Link when he visits the Spirit Temple, and aids Nabooru in obtaining the Silver Gauntlets. They're a valuable treasure that'll help them gain further entry into the temple. However, she gets caught by the witches, Twinrova, and is brainwashed by fighting Link as a Iron Knuckle.
Character traits should include: Brash, smart, confident, sassy, independent, slightly arrogant
I'm Nabooru of the Gerudo. I'm a lone wolf thief. But don't get me wrong! Though we're both thieves, I'm completely different from Ganondorf. With his followers, he stole from women and children, and he even killed people!
I want to ask you a favor... Will you go through this tiny hole and get a treasure that's inside? The treasure is the Silver Gauntlets. No, no, no, kid! Don't even think about taking this treasure for yourself! I want you to be a good boy and give them to me!
I was brainwashed by those old witches and used by Ganondorf to do his evil will... But isn't it funny? That a person like me could turn out to be the Sage of Spirit! And now, I'm going to fight them as one of the six Sages! Heh heh... I'm going to pay them back for what they did to me!
VOICE RANGE: MEDIUM to HIGH
Mido (Me-doe) is the leader of the Kokiri, who lives in Kokiri Forest. Mido has a reputation of being mean to others and bossing them around, but he respects the Great Deku Tree and aims to be liked by Saria. He looks down on Link in a very condescending manner. His frustrations and angsty attitude may stem from the fact that Link has the honor of being summoned by the Great Deku Tree & getting to be best friends with Saria. Despite this, Mido is not a bad person. His jealousy of Link does not stop him from giving advice to him, and in the future years, he seems to be genuinely sorry for the way he treated Link. Despite the fact that he is unaware of Link's identity as an adult.
Character traits should include: Selfish, moody, arrogant, a big jerk/bully, snarky
Hey you! "Mr. No Fairy!" What's your business with the Great Deku Tree? Without a fairy, you're not even a real man!
I, the great Mido, will never accept you as one of us! Shoot! How did you get to be the favorite of Saria and the Great Deku Tree? Huh?! Grumble…grumble…
If Link came back, I would be sure to tell him that Saria had been waiting for him... Because Saria...really... liked... Hey, you. If you see him somewhere, please let him know... And also... I'm sorry for being mean to him. Tell him that, too.
VOICE RANGE: MEDIUM to HIGH
Malon is the daughter of the rancher Talon, who owns Lon Lon Ranch. Portrayed as a kind-hearted and responsible girl, Malon is often seen taking care of Epona, one of the Ranch's horses. She also enjoys singing, specifically "Epona's Song".
Character traits should include: Kind, sincere, friendly, caring
[NOTE: For the third audition line, we want auditionees to include a bit of them singing Epona's Song. This part of the audition side should only take about 5 to 10 seconds at most. You can find information about the song here: https://zelda.gamepedia.com/Epona%27s_Song ]
Ohh... You're a fairy boy from the forest! My name is Malon! My dad owns Lon Lon Ranch! Oh yeah, I have to introduce you to my friend, fairy boy! She's this horse. Her name is Epona. Isn't she cute?
Would you mind finding my dad? He must have fallen asleep somewhere around the castle. What a thing for an adult to do!
My mother composed this song. Isn't it nice? Let's sing together. [sings Epona's Song]
VOICE RANGE: MEDIUM to LOW
Talon is the owner of Lon Lon Ranch, and daughter to Malon. While he appears to be a friendly and warm guy and father, he is also rather lazy and can easily take a long nap. This in turn causes him to lose track of time and leave his daughter waiting for hours on end to deliver Lon Lon Milk to the Royal Family.
Character traits: Friendly, kind, lazy, easy-going, loving
Yep, I'm Talon, the owner of Lon Lon Ranch. I went to the castle to deliver some milk, but I sat down here to rest, and I guess I fell asleep...
What?! Malon was looking for me? I'm gonna catch it from her now! I messed up bad, leaving Malon behind to wait for me! She's really gonna let me have it!
How'd you like to marry Malon? Haw haw! I was just kidding! Just kidding! I think you're a little young for that, aren't you?
VOICE RANGE: MEDIUM to LOW
Ingo is a recurring character who appears as Talon's employee at Lon Lon Ranch. During Link's childhood, Ingo is found working hard at the Ranch, though grumbles and moans about the laziness of his superior, Talon. Conversely, Ingo appeals to Ganondorf and is granted ownership to the Ranch during Link's adult era. He kicks Talon out of the Ranch and orders Malon to do the hard work.
Character traits should include: Snarky, rash, egocentric, harsh, arrogant
I can't believe that I, the great Ingo, am working on this dump of a ranch! I always have to do to all the work around here! I, the hard-working Ingo, should be in charge, not that lazy bum, Talon!
You're getting better! How about a little race with me? One lap around the corral with that horse. Let's make a little wager - say 50 rupees?
Heh heh... As I promised, I'll give the horse to you... However... I'll never let you leave this ranch!
VOICE RANGE: MEDIUM to HIGH
Dampé is the graveyard keeper, and is a vital character to helping Link make further progress in the future Hyrule. In said future, Dampé has passed on, but still appears as a lovable and playful ghostly spirit. He challenges Link to a race, where he grants the hero a special weapon.
Character traits should include: Eccentric, playful/teasing, can be strict and sturdy when need be.
Hey kid! Don't mess around with the graves! I'm Dampé the Gravekeeper!
Whoever reads this, please enter my grave. I will let you have my stretching, shrinking keepsake. I'm waiting for you. --Dampé
You were very quick to be able to keep up with me! Hehehe! As a reward, I'm going to give you my treasure. It's called the Hookshot!
VOICE RANGE: HIGH to MEDIUM
The Great Fairy is a divine spirit that lives across various locations across Hyrule. One in particular lives at the top of Death Mountain. She grants Link special upgrades and abilities that aid him on his quest. The Great Fairy is known for being... overwhelming, but she is a significant supporter of the hero.
Character traits should include: Loud, loving, over the top, gracious, generous, elegant, exciting, energetic
(Cheery, yet, hysterical laughter) AHHH HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAA.
Welcome Link! I am the Great Fairy of Magic! I will give you a magic spell. Please take it.
When you are weary of battle, please come back to visit me!

The Kokiri (KOH-kear-ee), also known as the Kokiri Tribe, are small child-like beings that inhabit the Kokiri Forest, as they compromise the land there with planted houses on its acres and within its borders. The Kokiri were originally Hylians. When the Hylians were first developing civilization, the Kokiri chose to live closer to nature and distanced themselves from the growing cities. They lived peacefully in Kokiri Forest, under the protection of their patron deity, the Great Deku Tree. However, after the Great Deku Tree dies, the Kokiri Forest is overrun with monsters, forcing them to retreat within their homes.

The Hylian Soldiers are the recurring group of warriors, law enforcers and protectors of Hyrule Castle. Soldiers are known for their fervent sense of duty, though their infallible obedience occasionally leads to manipulation by evil forces. The average Soldier is warm and welcoming, and may offer helpful advice. However, the Castle Guards tend to be sterner and will stop commoners such as Link from entering the castle.
Character traits should include: Warm/welcoming, strict, blunt, direct, protective, albeit a bit neglectful of their surroundings.
Do you really want to go through this gate that much? Let me think about it... OK, but in return... Give me 10 Rupees...

Man, I am SO tired! The night watch is so boring! I wish some ghosts would come out or something...Hey, I'm really interested in ghosts!
