Kill/Cure: Beautiful Vice is an upcoming murder mystery indie game made with Unity by Team Kill Cure. It is a non-profit passion project inspired by the Danganronpa franchise.
Plot Summary: 16 Ultimate students and 1 teacher who make up Class 17 of Bitokukawa Academy were invited to come to the Bitokukawa Campus and have been abducted on their way towards it. The class is not only stripped of their Ultimate titles, but are also forced into a killing game by a mascot that turns evil once someone breaks the rules or commits murder.
ABOUT THE TEAM & PROGRESSYou can find the full history and development details in our Q&A video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCY_Gpnt4Xw). Written below is a summary.
Kill/Cure first started in 2017 as a fan web series called "Danganronpa: Kill/Cure" with Moboxer as the director and a small team of artists. Moboxer at the time managed a lot of tasks by himself. He held a casting call in 2018 and recruited the first voice actors. Moboxer left the team in 2020 for personal reasons.
Team Kill Cure’s current director is Schlen, who was part of the original team and is in charge of the artistic design. Schlen’s leadership - plus the delegation of smaller tasks to several team leads - has allowed the team to slowly but surely rebuild the project. We’ve recruited new writers, artists, video editors, musicians and programmers, reworked sprites, CGs, and 3D models, wrote a new story, rewritten character profiles, revamped our theme and UI design, developed a game engine, and are now working to release the prologue.
Because Kill/Cure has been in development for a long time, some of our former cast decided to leave the team, each with their own personal reasons. We’re looking for fresh, talented voice actors to fill the unoccupied roles!
EXPECTATIONSType: Unpaid. Non-profit Danganronpa-inspired passion project, but is original work (characters, art, story, setting, music are original) and uses copyright-free assets (SFX, font).
Workload: There is both partial voice acting and full voice acting. Each character has <50 soundbites to be played throughout the game. Scenes that highlight key story moments will be fully voiced. Chapter trials will also be fully voiced, making up the majority of voice lines (this can range anywhere from 0 to 100+). We can’t reveal the exact workload of each role due to spoilers. Along with the game, we also plan to make fully voiced skits to post on social media.
Deadlines: Although we expect our team members to meet deadlines (one to three months per script), we’re willing to be flexible. We operate in an open, friendly and encouraging environment where no team member takes on too much work and thus becomes too stressed out. Most importantly, we want to make a project we can be proud of!
Credits: Voice actors will be credited accordingly in our cast list and for the content they participate in.
Communication: Voice actors will primarily communicate with Schlen, the director, and/or RubyJCat, the VA Manager.
Casting: Only the characters that need to be recast are listed in the casting call, alongside Bizarrosaru which is a new major role. Roles will not be cast before the deadline. Casting decisions will be made by our director and several team leads.
Only Bizarrosaru and Kokorosaru have a chance to be double cast to the same voice actor; no other roles will be double cast.
Extras: There will be additional small roles in future chapters. All applicants will be considered for extras. We'll also be listening to your demo reels!
Audition criteria:
Feedback: Due to the expected high volume of submissions, we are unable to provide feedback to individuals. We encourage voice actors to double check the requirements and ensure their recordings are saved properly before submitting.
REQUIREMENTSActor requirements:
Must be 18+ to audition.
Access to a treated recording space. Audio quality should be free of humming, plosives, clipping and distortion, with minimal background noise and reverb.
A solid understanding of acting. Our characters express a wide range of emotions.
A reliable communication method. Discord is preferred since we have a team server.
Be able to cooperate and communicate when needed.
Be willing to stick with the project for the long-term and attempt to meet deadlines.
Be comfortable with reading curse words if the script requires it. We specified a few of the characters that definitely curse in their scripts, but are unable to specify further due to spoiler reasons.
