Project Overview
Hi! I'm Grayest, I'm directing a fandub video series of the visual novel Katawa Shoujo from 4Leaf Studios!

This casting call is for side characters and supporting characters who have yet to be casted. Here are the requirements for the project:
Must have Discord to send lines and communicate with project leads.
Must have good audio/mic quality.
Must be able to deliver lines and be responsive

It will take several years to complete
Katawa Shoujo does have a few tame H-scenes here and there. But its pretty much just the main character's narration and not much else. None of the characters available to audition for appear in these scenes, either.

Deadline pushed back + Role added
To find more VAs, for characters that don't have much auditions, I pushed the deadline back a little from March 5th to March 12th. I also added a role for Yuuko Shirakawa. Her previous VA had to drop out of the project. Have fun, and send those auditions! - Grayest -
New audio editor role!
The scope of the project requires a third audio editor to help with dialogue lines, so I went ahead and added the role! -
Hisao VA update
I've decided to close auditions for Hisao. Reason being, we had another person voicing him prior who just went inactive for a good while. But we've worked things out with him and he says he's ready to record for the HD patch. I hope you all understand. - gray

Hisao is the main character of Katawa Shoujo. He has a heart attack in the beginning of the game and has to transfer to Yamaku academy, a school for physically disabled students. He's not super strong willed, but not weak either. His voice should be a medium-low
type voice.
Having to go to a special school? What are those even like? As much as I try to put a positive spin on this, its very difficult.
Its hard taking these meds every day knowing its probably the only thing keeping me alive.

Kenji Seto is a major character in Katawa Shoujo and attends Yamaku academy. He is Hisao Nakai's neighbor (across the hall in the dorms), who is legally blind that he is unable to see anything unless he is almost an inch close to them. He appears to be very anti-social, claiming to be the "last sane man in an insane world." He often rants about feminist conspiracies, claiming that feminists are evil and want to rule the world, among other pointless subjects.
The type of voice for Kenji should be slightly nasally, and what you should expect from the incel/hikikomori stereotype. Feel free to interpret how he should sound in your own way when auditioning!

Shinichi Nomiya is the art teacher at the Yamaku Academo. Years before the events of Katawa Shoujo, he was an artist himself, but retired from the profession to teach. He's in charge of the art club. He sees Rin Tezuka as nothing short of a prodigy, and will always go out of his way to praise her work. He is a generally laid-back sort of person, coupled with being flamboyantly dressed. He has a temper which, while not easy to set off, can cause him to go into a blind fury, shouting and swearing at anything that moves.
The voice for Nomiya should be raucous, a little loud, and friendly. A little grandiose. But also honeyed, meaning his voice may sound nice, but you wouldn't be able to trust him.
"I have to say, while we're talking about Tezuka's exhibition... I'm very excited to see how it turns out. She's still so young, yet has such wonderful skill, and style!"
"Brilliant! It's true that disability always has all sorts of implications in society, often nasty ones, but brushing things under the carpet won't help at all. I'm sure Sae will handle her side of the issue with delicacy. I've known her since art school and she's most reliable."

Akira Satou

Akira Satou is the older sister of Lilly Satou. She is also Lilly's guardian in Japan, due to Lilly's parents being absent. She normally dresses in a suit. She has a very tomboyish, carefree attitude, seeming to be a foil to Lilly herself. Rather irresponsible, she made Lilly do most of the cooking while they lived together, and evidently introduced her to alcohol. It is unclear whether or not her minor addiction was the spawn of Lilly's personality, or Akira's support in her drinking. In spite of her sister's bad blood with their cousin Shizune Hakamichi, Akira seems to get along well with Shizune's similarly gender-confusable younger brother, Hideaki Hakamichi. She also has a boyfriend whom she is really fond of but never makes an appearance in the game.
Akira is around 25, her voice should represent that. She also is slightly tomboyish, too.
"Yamaku Academy... I've always felt that place was kinda creepy; like it was an isolated hideaway for those “proper society” doesn't want to see nor hear. They probably just rue the fact that Lilly wasn't old enough to be shoved there by the time our parents left."
"You can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family, that's how it is. What're you two up to anyway?"

Yuuko Shirakawa

Yuuko Shirakawa is one of the librarians at Yamaku Academy. One of her duties includes stocking the library, which includes books with foreign texts and those in an alternative format (such as Braille or Audio). She also works part-time at a semi-popular tea house in town called the Shanghai, so as to fund her university studies in European history. Yuuko is timid and a little ditzy and socially awkward, she will sometimes jump to irrational conclusions or speak her inner thoughts without realizing. She listens to Hisao, the main character, and often advises him on how to interact with and adjust to his peers and lovers in his new environment.
Yuuko should stutter a little when she talks, but not to the same extent as Hanako, for example.
"Did you find any books? I should be closing soon. I mean this library should be closing. But I have to do it. I hope that's not too inconvenient for you."
"Wow. You read a lot, don't you?"
"Ummm, well, we get a lot of new books regularly because the library is adequately endowed. That's probably why. They spend more on new books than on my salary, and then I have to organize and shelve all of them. It's so troublesome and they weigh so much, I wish I could quit this job. ..."

Sae Saionji

Sae Saionji is the owner of the art gallery in the city center and a close friend of Shinichi Nomiya, (Yamaku Academy's art teacher) who decides to display Rin Tezuka's art after Nomiya tells her about it.
Sae's voice should be modulated, and enjoyable to listen to. Like a middle aged woman who's friendly, but modest and at least somewhat serious about her job.
"Pleased to meet you both. My name is Sae Saionji, and I'm the owner of this gallery. Could I maybe offer you some tea?"
"Everyone interprets art as they will, and interpretation is as much in the eye of the beholder as in the intentions of the creator.... Experiencing art is always personal, only interactive by chance or circumstances."

Emerich Jimenez
Hideaki Hakamichi is the younger brother of Shizune Hakamichi who is usually seen in tow with Akira Satou, who is Hideaki's cousin and Lilly Satou's sister. She generally babysits Hideaki
Hideaki as around 15, his voice should reflect that. His voice should be mature for his age. He also tends to speak in a slightly matter-of-fact way.
"You show no missing limbs or deformities, so external disabilities are out. Considering the lack of any strange mannerisms, it's also unlikely that you'd have any mental disability." Leaving that aside, the only possibility left is that of internal disabilities. didn't know which one you might bear, so I guessed. Correctly, as it turns out. And your reaction confirmed my guess."
"I see you've met my sister, then. Perhaps my full name might help you. I am Hideaki Hakamichi. You are probably thinking of my sister, Shizune Hakamichi."

Meiko Ibarazaki is the mother of Emi Ibarazaki who has been described as a "taller, older and more mature Emi" Unlike Emi, Meiko has a teasing sense of humor who has made fun of Hisao Nakai and Rin Tezuka by claiming that they seemed to be dating.
The voice for Meiko should be sweet and mom-like, but also reflect her personality traits.
"Emi has a way of bringing out the more active side in people. I've never quite figured out how she does it. I'm not surprised that she managed to rope you into an exercise routine. If Rin weren't just as stubborn as she is, I'm sure that Emi would have gotten her out and running with you too."

Miki Miura is a member of the Yamaku track team. She only ever interacts with Hisao during Hanako's route, in which she talks to him about Hanako. Miki is a cheerful girl who becomes aware of Hisao's feelings for Hanako, despite his denial.
Miki's voice should be carefree, tomboyish. And reflect her personality traits.

Mrs. Satou

Mrs. Satou is Lilly & Akira's Scottish Mother. While it's never mentioned in the game itself, the devs have stated that her first name is Karla. She doesn't have much of a part in the game beyond a phone conversation. Prior to her time in Scotland she was a journalist, and at some point she met a Japanese businessman who is revealed to be Hiroyuki Satou. The two eventually got married and moved to Japan. Here their first daughter Akira was born. After seven years their second daughter Lilly was born. Twelve years ago they lived together like a normal happy family until she and her husband moved back to Scotland when her husband's business required them to relocate. Lilly and Akira chose to remain in Japan.
So now that you're caught up on the lore, you should know that her voice should have a Scottish accent, and should sound polite, reserved, motherly and kind. Her voice is somewhat like Lilly's except with the accent, and the fact Mrs Satou is much older.
Hello again, Hisao. Are you teaching yourself English? Your pronunciation was good! I'll get Lilly for you, just wait a moment.
