Justice in Unity: Redux | Part One: Light of My Life
Project Overview
. . . Can you hear me? I can't see anything . . . I want to wake up. Please . . . Somebody, wake me up.
Justice in Unity: Redux is the resurrection of an older project of mine, called simply Justice in Unity. Made in RPG Maker VX Ace, but less of an RPG and more of an interactive story with some sleuthing to be done, JiU: Re stars French-American Det. Elliot Mortensen, a man plagued by his own inner demons (which can be in/directly controlled by the player) and an overwhelming fear of the dark. As the story unfolds, the player watches as their choices either make or break Elliot's relationships, friendships, and sanity.
This particular chunk of the game is set in France, in the year 2008. Most of these roles are open to various voice types. See character descriptions for character-specific information (obviously).
Despite being made in VX Ace, JiU: Re features a lot of resources from RPG Maker XP, including pieces of tilesets and edits of sprites made by Sithjester and Mack, among others. The game also features various scripts, such as ones by MOG, Khas, and Yanfly, including a few somewhat-heavily modified with custom traits. Mainly, the story is progressed by completing cases, of which there will be many. All of this said, there is no combat in the game, as I've determined the more "RPG" aspects of making games with this engine to be the furthest thing from a strong point for me.
Casting calls for this game will probably be made on a case-by-case basis, but the game itself is not an episodic release sort of deal. As I'm working on this in my spare time, this will be a long ordeal, so I'd rather not cast everyone at once when I know most of them won't have anything to record for a few months.
Once completed, the full game (and any demos/playtest copies I happen to put out) will be available for free download on GameJolt (which will have trophies) and IndieDB (though considerably less important, as it lacks trophies). If I can perfect translations with your help, though, I may look into broadening the project's horizons and posting it to other-language platforms.

I hope you find a role here that's interesting to you! If not, check back later for future casting calls for this game and, therefore, more roles!
RULES:
- This project will take a long time, and actors will likely have to wait a long time between scripts. Don't audition if you can't remain dedicated to the project as time goes on!
- I send scripts through e-mail. You're welcome to ask to hmu on Discord and/or join my project server, but I will likely not send you anything through there. E-mail: sticklover4[at]gmail[dot]com
- Actors with decent-quality microphones are preferred, and are more likely to be cast. The more work I have to do to clean your clips up to balance them with the other actors', the less likely it is that I'll cast you.
- Ad-libbing is fine for this project (for most roles I actually encourage it), but try not to add too much to the line or change it too much.
- Be lively! I don't usually cast actors who are monotone, unless of course the role/line calls for that.
- This is a serious project, but feel free to have some fun! Bloopers are encouraged. I might make something of them later. ;)

Two more roles from Justice in Unity: Redux's eighth case have been added to the call: Vivianne Poirier and Zacharie Lavoie. After this, there will only be approx. two more roles added for Part One before casting begins for Part Two, which is set in Victorian England. So keep an eye out for the next call if you enjoy doing or know anyone who does British accents. ~ Noëlle

Deadline Extended, Three New Roles
The deadline has been pushed to September 14th! Sam DeGarmo will be cast to one of his auditioners tomorrow (September 7th). Also, the three roles from Case Five (Elaine Bellerose, Marcelin Desrosiers, and Matthias Duval) have been added to the call. ~ Noëlle
I've got various languages I'd love to localize the game into, and I'd like some help translating. The goal is eventually to try casting actors for dubs in these languages.
Any language translations appreciated, but here's some ordered by personal priority (sort of):
- French (Currently has two (2) translators: Jei Lun, PureChild)
- Japanese (Currently has one (1) translator: RIO / X-Plorez)
- German (Currently has one (1) translator: Melle Teich)
- Spanish (Currently has one (1) translator: Kino VA)
- Korean (Currently has zero (0) translators)
- Russian (Currently has zero (0) translators)
- Chinese (Currently has zero (0) translators)
All other languages are also appreciated and accepted for translation.
(Note: I might not be able to use translations in languages that are written from right-to-left (ex. Arabic, Hebrew) simply due to the way RPG Maker is coded. I do have a script that tries to force RTL text, but it's not entirely reliable...)
Scripts are stored on Google Drive and will be translated from there. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Having a fully translated and dubbed project is my dream.
No need for an application--if you're fluent in another language (even one that already has a translator or two assigned to it) and are interested in helping me make my dream come true, either PM me or fire me an e-mail at sticklover4 [at] gmail [dot] com, and let me know if you have a preference between translating dialogue or translating menu elements.

***URGENT***
**Slight Texan OR Idahoan accent MANDATORY**
Medium-low to low voices preferred. Looking for a grungy, sort of country singer-esque voice. Gritty, kind of aged. Assertive, yet timid at times. Emotionally expressive.
The main French-American detective himself. Elliot is typically aloof and somewhat grouchy. He tends to distance himself from others. Most of his actions are determined by the player, but particularly out-of-character choices often lead him to state to another character or think to himself how worried he is for his own sanity. Either way, he feels like he's slipping a little, and is afraid of losing his mind. He's a touch paranoid, and has a rather crippling fear of the dark, as he's convinced that there's always something malicious watching him from the shadows (and, needless to say, he's not wrong . . .).
Due to a troubled childhood of abuse and neglect, he almost seems to lack sympathy, and could at times come across as a psychopath. But, deep down, he's a cheery little dork who just wants to be happy (not that this comes across very often). Despite how distanced he seems, when he does make friends, he's loyal to them and would do anything to keep them safe (unless instructed not to be by the player). Yet, though he loves his wife dearly, one of his secret vices is the need to feel wanted . . . even if he must get that feeling from questionable sources.
Depending on the player's choices, Elliot may become a variety of things, such as a normal man, a man utterly possessed by paranoia, or an abusive/possessive monster.
Though he was born and raised in France, he has an Idahoan accent. Yeah, this seems weird, but deal with it.
I'm Detective Mortensen, and this here is Lieutenant Callahan. We'd like to ask you some questions about what you saw.
(emotional/grieving)
And what if I don't want to reminisce on things I can never have again? On the face--the smile--I'll never . . . [he almost begins to cry, but barely manages to catch his footing] . . . I'll never see her again, Simon. I loved her so much, and I'll never see her again . . .(teetering on seething rage, but kind of sad)
All you had to do was say you loved me . . .
[they say they love him]
(enraged/roared)
It's too late for that now!
Medium voices preferred. Looking for a light-hearted, friendly kind of voice, but also one that can capture deep anger and menacing tones when necessary.
Work partner and best friend of Det. Mortensen. Married to Charlotte; father of Gaëlle. Simon is friendly and often tries to make light of bad situations with quips and small jokes. He could be described as a realistic optimist, hoping things will go well but not wishing in vain for miracles. That said, he’s not nearly as jaded as Elliot, and still believes there’s at least a little bit of good in everyone, even the worst of criminals.
Deep down, he secretly harbors a deep hatred for the world, though he does his best to mask it. Depending on Elliot’s treatment of him, though, it’s possible for him to stop being able to hide it, resulting in a complete personality shift to a cold, contemptful near-sociopath, with or without minor homicidal tendencies.
(casual/pleased)
Well, that was probably the easiest case we've had in a while. All we’ve got to do now is get a confession from the guy.(a bit somber/trying to relate/opening up)
Yeah, I know, hard to believe, right? But it's true. When I was a teenager, I hated everything. My family, my school, the people I passed on the street . . . and I don't use the term "hate" lightly.(serious/angry)
I don’t know what's happened to you lately, but I'm getting real fucking sick of your attitude. You keep treating me like I've got no feelings, and it's making me wonder why the hell I'm even your friend!
***Will be cast on August 8th***
***French accent optional, but preferred***
Any voice type accepted, but something in the medium to medium-low range preferred. Looking for a serious and authoritative type of voice that's stable and rarely affected by emotion.
One of the forensic scientists Elliot works with for the first half or so of the game. Specializes in examining samples from crime scenes. She's cool, collected, and aloof, but likes receiving praise for her help. In a quiet way, she seems almost malicious at times, or possibly even like a closet sadist . . .
She leaves France before Elliot does, but returns later in the game as a side-character in the final case. By that point, she's revealed her true colors: obsessed with advancing her career, she turns to Crimson Cove Laboratories and their questionable human experimentation. Though, she feels no guilt, remorse, or even pity; only contempt for the subjects she interacts with.
Do you have something for me to analyze, Detective?
(serious)
Detective, that's not sugar. The pancakes are coated in potassium cyanide, chemical formula KCN.
***Casting on August 22nd***
***French accent optional***
Any voice type accepted, but something in the medium-low range preferred. Looking for a deep, serious voice, perhaps a bit brooding and dramatic-sounding?
One of the forensic scientists Elliot works with for the first half of the game. Specializes in examining crime scenes directly. He tends to come across as rather serious and jaded, perhaps by all the gruesome things he's seen in his line of work. His cold demeanor makes him something of a mystery to most, as it's hard to tell what he's thinking; his voice nor face rarely display any emotion other than dull disinterest.
His appearance will be determined by either the actor or how I picture someone with their voice looking.
Detective. Do you have a scene you need me to take a look at?
God, what a bloodbath . . .
***Casting on November 8th***
***French accent optional***
Any voice type accepted, but something in the medium range preferred. Looking for a youthful-sounding voice filled with energy, with a generally positive and welcoming air to it.
One of the forensic scientists Elliot works with for the first half of the game. Specializes in examining evidence for fingerprints. Unlike his counterparts, Daniau is lively, much younger than his co-workers and therefore not as jaded. He's got a thread of optimism and is usually happy. Though he is serious and loves to get work done, he could definitely be regarded more as a child eager to please and have fun. Even when irritated, he comes across as merely playful. One would think his bouncy personality should be contagious, but Laurent and Nicolas seem to try to pretend he doesn't exist instead.
His appearance will be determined either by his actor or what I imagine someone with their voice might look like.
How’s it going, Detective? Need anything checked for fingerprints?
(lightly frustrated)
I’m in no position to order you around, but please try not to contaminate evidence. It makes my job a lot easier.
***Will be cast on August 8th***
***French accent optional, but preferred***
Any voice type accepted, but something in the medium-high range preferred. Looking for a light, innocent, feminine voice, perhaps a bit airy?
The waitress (and cook) at the local Peaches & Cream Café. She's 15 years old and easily perturbed by violence and conflict. That said, she's a very loving and caring girl, and as the game goes on, she develops a major schoolgirl crush on Elliot. Her favorite hobby is baking, specifically cakes, but her cooking specialty is strawberry pancakes. Despite the horrific sight she sees in this case, she manages to retain her childlike innocent for the rest of her time in the game . . . maybe.
Raised only by her overprotective father, Maci has no idea who her mother is besides her father's insistence that she was insane. As such, Maci has developed a bit of a nurturing side, wanting to have a big family when she's older and to be the greatest mother in the world for her future children. She happens to be a bit of a hopeless romantic, though, especially due to how hard she falls for Elliot, who is essentially a near-stranger (not to mention the age gap . . .).
(nervous)
Um . . . Oh, gosh, I'm sorry. I'm really scared. I've never seen anyone . . . die before!(stunned/defensive [accused of poisoning someone])
I-I would never do such a thing!(trying to mask schoolgirl-crush, but failing)
Hi, Detective . . .
***Will be cast on August 8th***
***French accent optional***
Any voice type accepted, but something in the medium range preferred. Looking for a bold yet motherly type of voice, one that oozes self-confidence.
Wife of Simon, mother of Gaëlle, and best friend of Émilie. She's outgoing, friendly, and kind of sassy. Despite being a tomboy at heart, she loves her husband and daughter to death, and is more than happy to put on the facade of a gentle housewife for them. One of her issues is her slight controlling nature, which causes her to frequently nag or pressure people (especially Elliot, who all the time she's known him has never yielded to the idea of having children).
She's faithful to Simon, but may or may not have some mild romantic fantasies about Elliot, as he's much more her type (though she would never act on these . . . at least, not under normal circumstances).
(to Émilie; assuring [her that Elliot will change his mind about hating children])
Oh, Émilie, don’t worry about that. Simon said the exact same thing until I got pregnant.(light teasing)
Oh, come on, Elliot. Don't be such a grinch. You might soften up to it.(grieving)
Oh, God, Elliot . . . Isn't it horrible?
***Will be cast on August 8th***
***French accent optional***
High voice range preferred. Looking for a squeaky, child-like voice (obviously), one that sounds innocent, but also a bit pout-y (as this character is a little bit of a spoiled princess).
Daughter of Simon and Charlotte. She's only five years old, so she's pretty naive and self-centered. That said, she does her best to be a "good girl" . . . sometimes. She spends a lot of time in her bedroom playing with her favorite toy: a stuffed rabbit given to her by Simon on her second birthday. She enjoys being treated as a little princess, as she is by her parents, and also likes watching Saturday morning cartoons. She's a tad spoiled . . .
She regards Émilie and Elliot as her auntie and uncle respectively, though she enjoys spending time with Émilie more, as she idolizes her in a childish sort of way.
Hey, Uncle Elliot.
(confused/a bit sad)
Uncle Elliot, when will Auntie Émilie wake up? I made her a drawing so she'll get better . . .(curious)
Where's daddy?
***Casting on Aug. 22nd***
***Case-exclusive role***
***French accent optional***
Any voice type accepted. Looking for a voice that sounds like it's coming from a professional businessman-type, but with a touch of guilt and timidity.
The main suspect of the Case of the Poisoned Diner: an accountant who happens to be the last person seen talking with the victim before his death. He's got a bit of a tendency to lie, but he's terrible at it, as he almost always sounds nervous. He's a bit stubborn and has a jealous streak.
He's only been in Lyon for a few years, so it could be possible that he spent most of his life in another country. Most of his character can be determined by the actor.
(suspicious)
You two don't look like police officers . . .(a bit nervous [regarding cyanide poisoning])
Uh . . . Oh, geez. Not really. I mean, I know it’s certainly not pleasant. I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy.(guilty/ashamed)
I don’t know what I was thinking. I just wanted him to feel bad.
***Casting on Aug. 22nd***
***French accent MANDATORY***
Any voice type accepted, but sophisticated, aged voices preferred. Looking for a voice that would suit a butler-type of character, with a high class air to them.
The headwaiter at the newly opened classy restaurant, Le Jardin des Anges. Suiting the air of the restaurant, he might come across as a bit snobby and pompous to some.
Comes back as a supporting role in another case.
Doesn't currently have an accurate sprite. Picture, like . . . Alfred Pennyworth. LOL
Welcome to Le Jardin des Anges*. Do you have a reservation?
[* “Leh Zhar-dih dey Ahnz”]May I interest either of you in some champagne?
Very good, sir. One moment.
***French accent optional, but preferred***
Any voice type accepted. Looking for a confident voice that perhaps comes across as a bit fatherly.
A director at the local Célestins theater. He's a friendly man, easily concerned about his actors, though his worry for them might be simply due to a desire to create a good play.
There isn't a whole lot to say about him, as Elliot only converses with him momentarily via a phone call. Most of his personality is thus up to interpretation.
He actually isn't a role in the first case of the game, but might be the only new role in the second, hence why I'm throwing him up here as well.
[asked if actor is prone to disappear]
Not at all. This is completely out of character for him. He’s usually the first to show up for rehearsal. Yesterday I figured he might be sick, but then he didn’t show up today, either . . .Please look into it, Detective. The show can’t go on without him!
***Will be cast on September 7th***
***Southern/Cajun (New Orleans) accent preferred.***
Any voice type accepted, but something in the medium range preferred. Looking for a voice suiting a somewhat-casual, kind-hearted businessman.
The owner of the Fantome d'Or Casino. He's originally from New Orleans, but came to France to try his luck opening a casino, since it didn't go so well back home. He loves his job and his employees, and is an honest, responsible man. He doesn't take the murder of one of his dealers so well, seemingly overcome with grief that something like this could happen to someone under his watch.
Image to come later.
Oh, good lord, where are my manners? My name’s Sam, Sam DeGarmo. Have a seat.
(sad)
She was one of my dealers, Christel Borde. Maybe I shouldn’t say this, but she was my favorite. She was so efficient with the cards, so full of energy and charisma . . . I can’t imagine anyone would want to hurt a girl like that. She was such a wonderful person . . .(a bit exasperated even talking about her)
Alice can’t seem to work well with anyone, much less me. I can’t tell you how I feel about her, but I harbor no doubt that she might tell you she “despises” me or something.
***Casting on August 21st***
***French accent optional, but preferred.***
Looking for a medium to medium-high range voice. Slightly unstable, emotionally. Possibly with a slight quiver to it.
A dealer at the Fantome d'Or Casino, and self-proclaimed best friend of the third case's victim. She's taking her friend's murder poorly, in the form of mood swings and pointing the blame at various people she dislikes. She doesn't seem to reliable, but she's convinced she knows who the culprit might be, and seems eager to help. And yet, her love for the victim seems to be unknown to the others Det. Mortensen questions . . .
Image to come soon.
(somber)
As I said, she was my best friend. She meant the world to me . . .
(sad/low)
I loved her.(slightly angry)
Monsieur DeGarmo . . . I don’t think he even cares. Everyone wanted him to close the casino for the day, but here we are. Open, as if nothing happened.(sad/disbelief)
I loved Christel so much . . . How could anyone do this to her?
***Casting on August 22nd***
***British accent MANDATORY.***
Looking for a medium to medium-low voice that's suave, cool, and collected. Also, generally unsympathetic and a touch cruel.
A regular patron at the Fantome d'Or Casino, and a big fan of Texas Hold 'Em style poker. Not from France; probably moved there for the women. He's a self-absorbed womanizer with little sympathy for others. He seems to treat love (and life in general) like some big game, calculating every move for his own benefit and no one else's. He's unfazed when Det. Mortensen questions him regarding a murder case; might even take it as a challenge to prove him wrong.
Image to come soon.
Hold on just a minute, Detective. Do you know how to play Texas Hold ’Em?
(bargaining)
Well, if you manage to beat me in a round, I’ll answer whatever questions you have.(mildly surprised)
Oh, God. Are you talking about the blonde, buttoned-up one? She's dead? Jesus.(lightly offended)
What kind of uncultured beast do you take me for? The girl--Christel, was it? Chantel? Who cares. Point is, she didn’t want me. I accepted that.
***Casting on August 22nd***
***French accent optional***
Any voice type accepted. Looking for a dry sort of voice, kind of monotone, as if bored with their life.
The desk clerk at a suite complex near the Peaches & Cream. Kind of icy, personality-wise.
Not much else to say about this role. Mostly open for interpretation. We never see a character sprite or anything, so gender, age, and whatnot are freely changeable.
What is it, Detective?
(a tad suspicious)
Could I see some identification first?[joke line; to be said as uneventfully as the rest of the lines; you can actually say the curse if you want]
Eff you, Detective.
***French accent optional; any accepted***
Any voice type accepted, but something in the medium range preferred. Looking for a serious but welcoming voice, perhaps a bit sultry.
The head receptionist at the Fantome d'Or Casino. She takes her job seriously, but might be a bit of a party animal in her personal life. Despite her dedication, she enjoys keeping tabs on workplace drama and rumors. Her personality is mostly up in the air besides this.
Her appearance will be determined by either the actor or how I picture someone with their voice looking.
(welcoming/business-y)
Hello, sir. Welcome to the Fantôme d’Or. How may I help you?(somewhat hushed/worried)
I’ve heard it’s awful down there. Honestly, I’m a little frightened. Nothing like this has ever happened here before.(a little worried)
I thought this kind of thing only happens in movies. I never thought it’d happen at a place I work at.
***British-Scottish sort of accent preferred***
I'm basically looking for a Gordon Ramsay impression. Hit me with your best shot.
A chef who's temporarily running the Fantome d'Or Casino's restaurant kitchen. An aggressive man, his patience has been tested by lazy, unmotivated cooks and other drama, and he doesn't give a pig's left arsecheek about your feelings. Basically, he's no-name Gordon Ramsay. He only has two lines, as his appearance is meant to be little more than an inside joke.
Image to come soon.
(grouchy/snapped)
Oh, look, a detective. Listen, do you belong in the kitchen? Huh, do ya?(snapped/shouted)
So get out, ya fuckin’ donkey!
***North American type of accent preferred, but any accepted.***
Looking for a dull, lifeless, monotone voice in the medium range. Basically, this: https://youtu.be/chHDDwHnPS4?t=36s
Another inside joke character. The Sous-Cook (not "The Sous-Chef", for obvious reasons) works with The Cook and says only one thing, ever: "I'm the cook." But now that he's the sous-chef, he instead says "I'm the sous". Because it sounds bloody ridiculous and makes, like, no grammatical sense whatsoever.
Image to come soon.
(monotone/statement)
I’m the sous*.
[*Still pronounced like “sous-chef”: “sue”]
***Casting on August 22nd***
***Posh, old-fashioned British accent MANDATORY.***
Looking for a medium-low voice. Think cliche British gentleman, but aged and creaky.
Yet another joke character with only one line. Sir Henry Cockburn is the stereotypical posh Brit, but while he's determined not to make a mockery of himself, he's rather out of the loop . . . and possibly senile. The dude's like, 100, probably. He's at the casino with his good friend (and possible secret lover), Stuart Shitbird. (Don't blame me; I'm not the one who devised that surname. . . . Or maybe I was. I can't remember anymore.)
Image to come soon.
(posh/formal)
Oh, I say, good man; where might I find a washroom in this fine establishment?
***MULTIPLE ACTORS WILL BE CAST; ONE FOR EACH OF THE SEVEN SUB-ROLES***
***French accents OPTIONAL***
Any voice type accepted, but generally looking for mature, serious voices.
Potential witnesses for the fourth case that Det. Mortensen can call. There are seven roles bundled into one character here: three males (Joël Caron, Claude Fabron, Alexandre Lestrange) and four females (Élisabeth Gros, Lorette Bourdillon, Marceline Bonhomme, Marie Lémieux). They were all supposedly at Le Jardin des Anges, a restaurant in the game, on the evening of a disappearance related to it.
Currently open:
M: n/a
F: n/a
Most of these characters should have a kind of pompous air to them, as Le Jardin des Anges is considered a classy restaurant in-game.
No images, as these characters are only heard.
(asked if saw a white car)
Well, not suspicious, not really, but there was a white car in the parking lot when I got there.(a little nervous; never spoken to a police officer before)
A suspicious white car? Um . . . Well, I think there was one parked outside when we got there, if that’s what you mean.(asked if was at Le Jardin des Anges)
Well, no, actually. I made a reservation, but there was a change of plans at the last minute.
***French role***
Looking for a professional-sounding voice type, one that you might hear recorded as a default voicemail message.
A default French voicemail recording. Used a few times throughout the beginning of the game, but only has one line. Apparently everyone uses the same type of phone, thus have the same default recording . . .
Rather than use text-to-speech, I figured it might be more effective to have a real person. Audition take will be used in-game.
No image.
Bonjour, vous êtes sur la boite vocale de . . . S’il vous plaît, laissez un message et je vous rappellerai dès que possible.
***North American accent preferred (perhaps with a small touch of Texan)***
***REQUIRES SCREAMING***
Looking for a mature-but-innocent type of voice, one that could belong to a serious young woman who deep down longs for friendship.
A former shadow opera performer who reaches out for help in the fifth case, after receiving various frightening (and vaguely threatening) love letters from an unknown admirer. She's been made paranoid by these recent events, but feels safe enough around Lt. Callahan to open up to him like an old friend. Though she's given up on what she once thought was her life's dream, she's optimistic and hopeful about her future.
Sprite colors aren't entirely accurate.
[asked about the love letters]
(mildly disturbed)
If you can call them that . . . At first they were kind of cute. Written kind of like something you might write for a girl on the playground in elementary school, you know? But then, two weeks ago, the language suddenly got . . . darker. Today’s letter included a bundle of photos . . .(giggling a bit/apologetic)
Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to laugh . . . Sometimes I giggle when I’m nervous, and seeing you so flustered is contagious.[scream of fear]
***Will be cast on September 21st***
***French accent preferred***
Looking for a friendly, matured male voice, one that could belong to a caring, open-minded director.
The general director of the local shadow opera house. He's passionate about his job and the performances he directs, but cares more than anything about his actors' well-being. A prideful, high-class type of man, but also humble.
No sprite yet.
Yes, monsieur? Did you enjoy the show?
Ha ha, well, Elaine was meant to play the bride, yes. Our costume designer, Matthias, made her a stunning wedding down. Unfortunately, she left the team, so we had to recast her.
I . . . I’m afraid I don’t understand what you’re saying.
***Casting November 8th***
***French accent OPTIONAL***
***REQUIRES SCREAMING***
Looking for a medium to medium-low ranged voice, capable of expression madness and desperate-ness.
The costume designer for the local shadow opera house. He makes a short appearance at the end of case five. Having gone mad from his obsession with Elaine Bellerose, he's taken it to the next level by deciding to force her to love him or die. There's no talking him down; he's gone full "yandere" stalker mode.
No sprite yet.
(angry/a bit insane)
Who is this? Who is he, Elaine?!(a bit insane/begging)
Elaine, just tell me you love me . . . That’s all I want! Elaine, please . . . Elaine![insane/livid yell]
***Casting November 8th***
***French accent OPTIONAL***
Looking for a medium-ranged voice, possibly kind of nasally. Something that kind of grates on the nerves a bit?
The hazzan at a Jewish synagogue, and also the weary son of a fortune teller. He's eager to help people convert to Judaism... perhaps, a little too eager. He tends to come off as a bit forceful, using an overly friendly form of peer pressure to convince people to put on yarmulkes, etc. He's also quite worried about his mother's occultic habits, though it does often give him chances to get people to pray and repent to God.
No sprite yet.
[asked who's in charge at the synagogue]
(professional/welcoming)
That would be the rabbi. Unfortunately, he’s not here today. I’d be happy to help you in his place, though.
(notices)
Do you need a yarmulke?(griping/worried)
Mother! What did I tell you about the fortune telling? It’s strictly against our religion!(worried/urging)
You sought guidance from someone other than God! As punishment, it’s said He’ll make whatever misfortunes you were told come true.
***French accent OPTIONAL***
Looking for a medium to medium-low-ranged voice, something wise, serious, but also capable of giving dark warnings.
A fortune teller, and mother of the hazzan. She tends to bring people down into the synagogue's basement, where she's set up her practice. Her motivation is that people deserve to know if she sees bad things in their future, so that they may attempt to avert disaster, but sometimes she comes upon someone like Det. Mortensen, who she determines may be utterly helpless to change destiny. She doesn't sugar-coat things, preferring to tell it how it is, but as is typical of fortune tellers, her premonitions are often vague and/or cryptic.

(serious)
Who I am doesn’t matter, Detective Mortensen. But we must talk somewhere private.
[asked why]
Because everyone you love is in grave danger, and knowing the future may be your only way to save them.(trance-like/reciting the future)
The first may well prove to be your one of your most loyal allies. He will do his best to keep you safe, but be warned: the dark is all-consuming.(pointing out)
I sense there is something connected to you . . . A being only you can see, that whispers in the back of your head . . .
. . . Have you ever heard of a dybbuk?
***French accent OPTIONAL***
Looking for a medium-ranged voice, motherly and friendly, but also capable of dark, foreboding lines.
Audition lines may not accurately represent lines in-game.
The mother of Simon and Frank Callahan, married to Stéphane. She's a part-time ghost whisperer, full-time psychic. Very family-oriented, she cares deeply for her sons and her husband, and would do anything to keep them safe, despite how one of her sons has more-or-less cut her from his life. Due to her connection with the spirit realm, she's sometimes paranoid that her family are in danger of possession and whatnot.
No sprite yet.
[sees her son]
(to client)
Oh, I'm sorry. Could you come back later? Please, we'll finish this session tomorrow for no extra charge.(sad/worried)
When Frank didn't come down for breakfast this morning, we checked on him . . . and he was gone! We don't know where he's gone![frightened scream, upon seeing a demon in her living room during a seance]
***French accent OPTIONAL***
Looking for a medium-ranged voice, fatherly and welcoming, but also capable of being stern when necessary.
Audition lines may not accurately represent lines in-game.
The father of Simon and Frank Callahan, married to Héloïse. He's an exorcist by trade, though not directly affiliated with the church. Out of the four in the family, he's arguably the most Catholic of them. He takes his wife's side in most conflicts, and is always there to comfort her. He's less family-oriented than her, but still cherishes his family. He takes his wife's paranoia of demonic possessions seriously, sometimes taking drastic measures to protect his children, just in case.
No sprite yet.
(welcoming/fatherly)
Simon! It's been so long since we've seen you, son!(hearing his wife scream; worried)
Héloïse*!
[* "Ell-oh-eez"](a bit guilty/honest)
I admit that we might have been a bit too overprotective of you, Simon. We might've tried to force our religion onto you a little too much. But you have to understand that we did it because we wanted to keep you safe.
***French accent optional, but preferred***
Looking for a medium to medium-low ranged voice, something serious and stern, but perhaps a bit motherly.
Audition lines may not accurately represent lines in-game.
The principal (or "proviseure") of a local high school: Collège Beaufort. She takes her job and the security of the school's staff and students seriously, but almost seems to know a little bit more about the recent suspicious "suicide" of one of the students than she's willing to admit to Det. Mortensen. She's a no-nonsense kind of woman regardless, who likes to know exactly who/what she's dealing with before she acts.
No sprite yet.
(serious)
Yes, I’m Francine Lavoie, the proviseure of the school. Please, take a seat, Detective . . . [trails off, waiting for a name](mourning a bit)
[sigh] It’s tragic. What could’ve brought such a popular young girl to do something so terrible?(a bit suspicious/honest)
Honestly, this all seems rather strange to me. I’m not sure if I can allow it without any details.
***French accent optional***
Looking for a medium voice, one that's kind of tomboy-ish and casual, but open to different kinds of voices.
Audition lines may not accurately represent lines in-game.
The female gym teacher at Collège Beaufort. She's friendly, casual, and extroverted, and almost tends to see her students as good friends, if not her children in a way. She's responsible and not afraid to get her hands a little dirty -- is a bit of a tomboy. As for the reason Det. Mortensen meets her: she's willing to support him however she can in finding out whatever truth he may find about the presumed suicide of one of her students, but is initially a tad suspicious of him, as the police already investigated the case.
No sprite yet.
(curious/a bit suspicious)
Excuse me, can I help you?(a bit somber)
What happened to Nathalie was horrible. I hope she’s at peace now.
***French accent optional***
Looking for a medium to medium-low voice, one that's firm, confident, and serious. Audition lines may not accurately represent lines in-game.
The male gym teacher at Collège Beaufort. He's stern, introverted, and takes physical activity and exercise seriously. He doesn't like when students slack off -- often pushes them to leave their comfort zones. More responsible than his female counterpart. As for the reason Det. Mortensen meets him: he's willing to tell the detective anything he needs to know, despite not being particularly fond of the victim, and is honest and open about that dislike.
No sprite yet.
(honest/explaining)
Nathalie and I never really saw eye-to-eye. Maybe she saw me as some kind of threat to her status; if she did the activity I was telling her to, she’d get all sore and sweaty.(honest/explaining)
We brought out the worst in each other. Often we’d start shouting ateach other in the middle of class.
(somber/a bit guilty)
I’m honestly a little relieved she’s gone, but . . . not like this . . .(honest/confident)
Just being honest, Detective.
***French accent optional***
Looking for a medium voice, one that's youthful, cocky, and casual. Audition lines may not accurately represent lines in-game.
The now ex-boyfriend of the late Nathalie Poirier. He's smug; the typical school jock/jerk who goes around beating other guys up and bragging about it. Despite his girlfriend's apparent suicide, he seems to be just fine on the outside. Inside, though, he's secretly reeling. Rather than be "a sissy", he instead puts up a front of being even more of a cocky prick than he normally is. He doesn't like Det. Mortensen much, as the detective keeps poking him for information he's trying to forget and seems to eye him as a potential suspect.
No sprite yet.
(casual)
Well, Nathalie was hot, and she knew how to stand up for herself. She wasn’t no crybaby, not like her friends. Wouldn’t back down from a fight, y’know?(suspicious/difficult)
Why should I tell you anything? In fact, what the hell are you even asking questions for?(angry/arguing)
No! No, you tell me right now what you’re trying to say. Who do you think I am, huh? You think I’m the kind of scumbag who raises his hand to his girl?
***French accent optional***
Looking for a serious voice, preferably one that sounds like the typical person you'd hear on the morning or evening news, announcing breaking news stories. Any range/gender/general voice type accepted.
Audition lines may not accurately represent lines in-game.
A newscaster on the local news, who announces a tragic news story. Professional, and un-biased. A typical newscaster. Currently only appears in a scene if Det. Mortensen fails a certain case, but may appear again for additional lines later in the game.
No sprite, as this role is only heard.
(reporting the news/serious)
The body was found early this morning hanging from the rafters in the Collège Beaufort gymnasium, and has been identified as one of the school’s students: sixteen-year-old Maci Leblonne. Leblonne was a member of the student council, and her death came as a shock to her friends and teachers.(reporting the news/serious)
Police are unsure what to make of the girl’s death, but believe it may be related to another recent suicide at Collège Beaufort: that of Nathalie
Poirier. Sources indicate that the two may have been friends, and that this could possibly have been a suicide pact.
***French accent OPTIONAL***
Looking for a medium to medium-high ranged voice, something youthful, meek, and quiet, but capable of shouting and expressing desperate cries for help. A voice that screams "shy, troubled boy".
The timid son of Principal Francine Lavoie. Zacharie is a fellow student of Maci, Denis, and Nathalie, and had a crush on the latter before her suicide. He's soft-spoken and timid, and seems devastated by Nathalie's death. When talking, he tends to stumble on his words a bit, stammering from anxiety and shyness. He feels unnoticed, like a ghost, by his fellow students, and feels like no one, not even his own mother, listens to anything he has to say, and this frustrates him, but he's too anxious about embarrassing himself to speak up. Under the surface, however, Zacharie knows more of Nathalie's death than he says, and eventually finds himself forced into a terrible situation in which he begins begging Det. Mortensen for help and tries to reveal the master plan the detective is missing. During this scene, he explains he feels out of control and is terrified of what's happening.
No sprite yet.
(soft-spoken/a bit bashful) [upon being asked to describe Nathalie, his secret crush]
Um, well . . . we didn’t talk a lot. But, uh . . . she was . . . really pretty. Confident, too . . . I didn’t really know her, but I wish we’d had a chance to be friends . . .(soft-spoken/somber/bad memory)
One day . . . out of the blue . . . [Denis] walked into the washroom while I was in there . . . then he backed me into a corner, yelled at me about how I should leave Nathalie alone . . . and he started hitting me . . .(pleading/desperate/afraid)
No, no, I . . . I didn’t do it, Detective! Please, y-you’ve got to believe me . . . !
[asked where he got a gun]
He gave it to me! A-and then . . . suddenly Denis was there, and . . . and he pushed him . . . !
[asked who he's talking about]
(pleading/desperate/afraid)
Him! The guy who killed Nathalie!
***French accent MANDATORY***
Looking for a medium to medium-low voice, one that is able to sound stern, serious, and fatherly, but is also able to express grief and sadness.
Audition lines may not accurately represent lines in-game.
The father of Maci Leblonne and estranged ex-husband of Supt. Bellamy. After a fierce custody battle, he gained permanent custody of their daughter and convinced her that her mother was dead. He currently only appears in a scene where his daughter has died, but he may appear for a few additional lines later in the game (if his daughter is still alive). Overall, he is a strict, over-protective parent, and if his daughter dies, he has a change of heart and realizes he was too firm with her and should've let her get to know her mother.
No sprite yet.
(somber; just lost his/his ex-wife's daughter, and his estranged ex-wife is lashing out at someone she feels is to blame; he's trying to console her)
Tanya . . .(explaining/regretful; explaining why Det. Mortensen never knew about his ex-wife being a mother)
We never told anyone. Not even Maci . . . as far as she was concerned, her mother was dead.
***French accent OPTIONAL***
Looking for a medium-low ranged voice, motherly and capable of expressing deep depression.
The single mother of Nathalie Poirier, the victim of the game's eighth case. Vivianne is the kind of mother who wants nothing but the best for her daughter, and is absolutely devastated to think that this mindset may have led her daughter to take her own life. As such, her appearance in this game is marked by her depressed manner, occasionally breaking into tears. She blames herself for her daughter's suicide, and is unwilling to hear anyone bad-mouth her. Having lost her husband in a car accident about 13 years prior, her daughter was all she had left, and she now feels alone, gutted. She speaks gently and almost in monotone, trying to hold her emotions back, but isn't always able to do this.
No sprite yet.
(depressed/reminiscing)
Nathalie was my whole world. I did my best to keep her happy. And she was. Or . . . I thought she was. I don’t know [pause to keep her composure] what could’ve led her to do such a thing. How she could’ve done what she did to herself . . . I’ll never be able to understand.(stunned/dismayed/distressed)
Oh my God . . . my baby, murdered . . . ? Oh God . . . Oh God . . .(emotional/firm)
That’s enough. I want you to leave. Go!
***French accent OPTIONAL***
Looking for a medium-ranged voice, something anxious and expressive that can capture a sense of overwhelming guilt and regret.
Friend of Irenée Sauvageon and the first captured suspect in the final case of Part One. Although he basically helped Sauvageon shoot up a mall, he was forced into it at gunpoint and regrets his actions. He's still scared that Sauvageon will kill him if he snitches, so he's anxious and initially reluctant to talk to Det. Mortensen and Lt. Callahan, but soon gives in and tells them everything. He's a good person who never expected Sauvageon to take a joke so far, and is devastated that he could do nothing to stop it.
No sprite yet.
(guilty/explaining)
None of it was my idea . . . My . . . "friend", and I . . . Well, we joked about it. He joked about it. [...] Then, this morning he . . . he came over . . . with guns! He gave me one and told me what he had in mind . . . I said I didn’t want to do it and that he was crazy, but he just pointed his gun at my head and said he’d shoot me . . . !(guilty/explaining/pleading/traumatized)
I think . . . what finally made it click that he wasn’t messing around . . . was watching him mow down . . . a--a little girl, walking with her mother . . . I still remember her small face when . . . [trails off](terrified/pleading)
I-Irenée! H-his name is Irenée Sauvageon! He lives i-in a--an apartment building, on Rue Magneval!
***French accent OPTIONAL***
Looking for a medium to medium-low ranged voice befitting a cool-headed, smug psychopath.
Friend of Florian Lécuyer and the second captured suspect in the final case of Part One. He's a complete psychopath, shooting up a local mall for the hell of it, even referring to murder as a "sport". He's afraid of dying, but has utterly no remorse for the terrible thing he did, and even brags about it. He's proud and self-centered, and doesn't see Det. Mortensen, Lt. Callahan, nor any of the police as a threat -- he seems confident that he'll get out of jail on a technicality or escape, and be able to rack up a higher "kill count".
No sprite yet.
[is about to be shot by a stranger who walked into his apartment] nervous/pleading)
Wait!! I-I’ll talk, please!!(smug)
So Florian snitched, eh? Weak-stomached little whelp, cracking so fast . . . Should’ve known I couldn’t trust him for shit.(melodramatic/bemoaning)
People are scum. They’re all insatiable, self-absorbed living trash bags, living only for the next overpriced material object they can pamper themselves with.
[Det. Mortensen, skeptical, asks if that's really his reason]
(pleased [Det. Mortensen] caught on)
Heh, no. Just wanted to see if you’d call me out.
***Closed for now***
Want to help out by making some music for this game? Most of this project calls for scenes with dark, creepy tracks or some sleuth-y detective noire-esque music with a touch of jazz and a sprinkle of "everyone dies at the end". In other words, probably in a minor key. ;)
There are also some maps that require happier tracks, like the casino, or sadder tracks, like the hospital.
Really, just about anything goes, I guess. I swear I'm professional and know how to describe the gist of what I need. (I'm not/I don't.)
For your application, just link me a YT or Soundcloud link of something you composed.
Or Rick-Roll me and send me an example later. That'll work too.

Any voice type accepted. Generally speaking, looking for authoritative voices that sound like they belong to someone with a stern, serious position in law enforcement, but with a touch of comic incompetence.
Various police officers with various personalities. Go to town.
It’s a truly awful sight, isn’t it, Detective? How do you stay so composed?
I’ve been trying to open this cabinet for a half hour. Could someone call a locksmith?
Do you always get so close to people in washrooms?

Any voice type accepted. Generally speaking, looking for confident-yet-emotionally distant voices, that may or may not come across as a bit shy despite their intellect.
Various forensic scientists with various personalities. Go to town.
If you have any samples, you should take them to Dr. Laurent*. She’s in the other room, as usual.
[* “Loh-rohn”]Always safe to be organized, right?
The scientists in the other room should be able to help you if you need anything in a hurry, Detective.

Any voice type accepted. Looking for business-y voices, the kind that lure you in to whatever they're selling.
The various employees of the Fantome d'Or Casino. Including musicians, a bartenders, chefs, and dealers. Anything goes, but most of these people are professional and used to a rich air. They, thus, might come off as a bit snobbish, turning their nose up to people like Det. Mortensen.
Appearances depend on actor voices.
Can I interest you in a game of poker, sir?
Sorry, this machine is out of order.
To be honest, when I took this job I didn't think there would be so many people to serve . . .

Any voice type accepted. Generally speaking, looking for semi-generic or otherwise relate-able voices that could reflect the general populous.
Various civilians with various personalities. Changed to general extras, including police officers, forensic scientists, casino staff, civilians, etc. Go to town.
I might not respond to auditions straight away; these roles are mostly on hold and will all be responded to later on in development. :)
My damn neighbor won’t stop blasting music at four in the morning, and I want to file a formal complaint!
Wow, a real-life detective.
Can we go now? The officers told us to stay put . . .

Any voice type accepted. Generally speaking, looking for child-like (obviously) voices, full of innocence and all those other things kids' voices encompass (like squeakiness and shrillness, I guess).
Various kiddos with various personalities. Less lines than regular civvies, as there's only a few of them. Go to town anyway.
I might not respond to auditions straight away; these roles are mostly on hold and will all be responded to later on in development. :)
Hiya, monsieur.
There was a man with black hair and glasses. They talked to each other. Then the guy fell over.
Maman keeps telling me not to look at the man on the floor. When will he get up?
I'm looking for someone willing to draw character art for the cutscene graphics. I will accept uncolored lineart. No backgrounds necessary (for that, see the Background Artist role), though for cutscene arts the lineart will need to fit the background's angle.
Be forewarned that the game is long, so there will be a lot of cutscene arts. As such, I may accept one or more character artists per Part to lessen the load (there are five Parts to the game).
I will provide the full-body character arts used for the portraits, other character references (on request), descriptions of what kind of pose/etc. I'm looking for in a cutscene art, and whatever other information you need to draw the art.
To apply, please e-mail me at sticklover4 [at] gmail [dot] com with a link to/a sample of your art and with [Character Artist] in the subject.
