(InuYasha Abridged project) The Adventures of Dogboy and Schoolgirl
Project Overview
Hello! this is Josh and I bring another casting call for a parody project! You read correctly, this will be focused on InuYasha. In late 2018, I worked on a casual, but fun, video, which then turned into a full blown episode, relating to a InuYasha parody. There were plans to further continue the series, but at the time it was put to temporary slumber (to give myself to try to advance in my voice acting, resources, and skills). Under the group, VAgasms, we will be continuing the series following this first episode posted here! It is our goal to create a better quality parody, with dedicated cast with better equipment.
Give the episode 1 a listen, if you'd like. I hope it will be evident that we will have improved much more from that episode, going forward with this project. Of course we will have a few rules you'll need to read before you begin your auditions!
Auditioning and Quality: We may have ideas and personalities already set up for certain characters, but you are free to do your own take of a character if you feel it'll win us over, so make sure to give it your all in auditioning! If more time is needed for the auditions, or we just haven't found any one we'd like for the roles, the auditions will be extended or another project page will be created. We aren't expecting to be able to fill all roles within a month (but please do surprise us!) so do not expect a casting immediately. Also, it may benefit you to do 2-3 takes on each line in your audition.
Your mic should be relatively quiet and clear. If you are able to do noise removals, to remove background noise, without any noticeable distortion to the recording, you should be fine. You will want to find a quiet place or a recording booth to record in. If you aren't equipped with professional equipment or booths, your best bet will be your closet! As long as your recording area doesn't send any reverb back to your mic! I'm not expecting professional level quality, but make sure you're at least trying! The best way to test this out is to yell or scream, or even clap, and listen out for any echo in your recording area.
Availability: As stated earlier, there are no plans or ideas set for later arcs, but we are not planning on giving up on the series, so you should audition with the intent to commit to a long-term project. When its time to record for lines, we may or may not be lenient at times, letting you just do your thing, but sometimes we might need to do voice calls and direct/discuss your lines. I don't want you to feel rushed, either, but we do expect you to send over your recorded lines after a decent period of time has passed. A busy schedule is a busy schedule, but we cannot wait forever for every recording to come in.
Staying in Contact: DISCORD IS PREFERRED!!! It is the easiest medium for giving updates, keeping in touch, and calling when needing direction. It's also a free program, and can be accessed through PC, mobile, and even browser (yes, that means no downloaded needed). However, if for some reason you just can't get that, emailing or some other social media contact will be tolerable or discussed. Also, you're not expected to come hang out with us, but it'd be totally cool if ya did!
Roles on Roles on Roles: There are plenty of characters to go around in this series, but its a gradual pace to get to many debuts, so not all roles will be accessible at current. Although we will give already-cast voice talents an early chance to audition for them, we ask that you frequently come back to this project to audition for new roles when they roll in! Diversity adds for authenticity and better quality, after all!
Non-profit: Soooo... its a parody of an officially licensed franchise. We cannot make profit off of it, so do not expect any compensation other than our love and pride and the satisfaction of being apart of an InuYasha parody! (Crowdfunding is a different story, though....)

For the most part I have been writing, but if the need ever rises, i will probably want a writer on the team. (Preferably who can also get a role on the parody for the sake of having things to do!) It is definitely difficult to adjust to different writers' styles, but if you're fit for the project, then teamwork should eventually smooth out!

So far I have been maining as the video editor. It would be difficult to transition to a different one, but if you are fit for the project, I will definitely appreciate a excellent video editor who is dedicated!
If you watched the reference video, you will be able to see my editing capabilities (or at lest my skills back in 2018). I'll admit i am not so good with overly advanced techniques, and would certainly love a good video editor for maybe the openings or if special effects are required!

So, I have worked on all things for this project, and I'll admit I'm not innovative or creative when it comes to audio engineering! I think i manage for the most part, but i believe if there is a dedicated individual out there with great skills in audio engineering, I would love to have them on board to make the sound even better!

This role is more of a dream than a practical goal, as it would be great to have a composer to put together some original music for the parody, but at the end of the day this is a fan-made parody series. If you are dedicated to InuYasha, or just want to flex your music making muscles on a abridged-type of parody series, then by all means:

The older half-brother of InuYasha, this full-blooded Dog demon is in pursuit of one thing, his father’s legendary sword, Tessaiga. However, the sword was named to his younger brother, InuYasha. This leads Sesshoumaru to pursue his brother in order to obtain information on Tessaiga, or to obtain the actual sword itself. I'm looking for a voice relatively similar to the original English and Japanese VAs, but feel free to go for anything.

An imp who is extremely loyal to Sesshōmaru, often praising his master's greatness. In this, Jaken is a rhyming master. His voice can be similar to the originals, but just about any higher pitched goblin-like voice could work for this imp! Try out anything!

It has been centuries since I began serving Lord Sesshōmaru; crossed through 3,000 worlds have I! His most loyal follower: I answer to the name Jaken!

A yōkai that was born through the grief of mother's suffering the loss of children to famine and war. She would steal a person's soul by absorbing their body into herself. She is hired by Jaken to trick InuYasha. She will have a motherly voice, however you perceive this is up to you!
He is too deep into my illusion to be saved now. Soon the reflection will become reality! You cannot stop it!

A flea yōkai who was a servant of InuYasha's father, until his death. Not much to say about him!

Kagome's mother. For all intents and purposes, she is a typical mother, with a bit of quirkiness.

A Hair demon who was the first serious threat against the main characters in the series. Unfortunately for Yura her introduction episodes were skipped in this, and she comes back for vengeance with a little stinger at the end of episode 2! She speaks in rhymes, like Jaken, but as she was cut from the show, Jaken had taken that gimmick from her.

An orphaned fox demon, this young male at first sought the sacred jewel shards from Kagome and InuYasha in order to gain power and avenge his father’s death. However, plans change as he accompanies the protagonists on their journey. This character can be voiced by both male or female Voice actors, as long as he has a typical anime raspy high voice or something of similar nature.
I have been challenged to a duel to the death. Yes, it was just another day in my life as a brave warrior!
Inuyasha, are you ready to take the blame if Kagome's bottom gets deformed!?

A 19 year old priestess, this human was once the lover of InuYasha before she passed, 50 years back. Her soul was reincarnated into Kagome many centuries later. I'm looking for a voice that is either similar to the original English VA, or a voice similar to her Voice actor in the first episode of Dogboy and Schoolgirl (please watch the reference video; timestamp for Kikyo's scene in that video is 6:59).

A lecherous monk, Miroku’s grandfather was cursed with the Wind tunnel by Naraku. This curse passed down through each generation’s male, including Miroku. Along with his duties as a monk, Miroku’s quest is to find Naraku to stop the curse, leading him to join the protagonists’ party. Something similar to the original VAs, but feel free to play around, as we have yet to get to scripting him.
If the demon is truly big, then we are no match for it. It's irrational. It's impossible. It's against my religion.

A teenage Demon slayer, this girl starts out on a path of vengeance for her brother’s death, which she believes InuYasha to be at fault, initially. After learning the truth, she joins the Protagonists’ party.
Please, body, hold fast until I can complete my final task.
As long as Kohaku is in Naraku's hands...I know I'll end up betraying you again!

A Spider demon, Naraku is the primary antagonist of the series. He is behind many plot threads and more often than not is the reason behind anything that has occurred. The big bad, as they say.
I have often heard you humans refer to this as fate or destiny. Only the weak utter such nonsense.
It is different for the truly powerful: they create this so-called "destiny" with their own hands.

The Narrator can be male or female, and is pretty quirky, sounds full of themselves. Almost sounding like Futurama's Zapp Brannigan. Can be lower or higher in register, though lower registers might be preferred.
(quickly, almost as if all in one breath) Previously on the Adventures of Dogboy and Schoolgirl.
After the crow demon debacle, our protagonist, School Girl found herself in a bit of a pickle..
