Insectarium - Chapter 1
Project Overview
Insectarium is a Mascot Horror game with puzzles being at the forefront of gameplay. Discover more about the experiments your company has conducted on yourself and countless others as you try to go back home and turn back to normal.
The game follows Ian, the author [though not creator] of a comic strip about bugs called It's Buggin' Me. After trying to quit his job, he finds himself a victim of his publisher's [surgical] attempts at bringing the comic's characters to life.
-Quote from the First Look teaser description
Chapter 1 has been in the works for quite a long thing and I think it's time for help to be hired.
I'm currently looking for voice actors and a composer. If other types of roles will be needed in the future (which aren't related to audio), I will be performing those casting calls off this site.
Unless stated otherwise, every character is an anglophone from Ontario. While a character may not be ethnically such, their voice should reflect where they grew up (unless, again, stated otherwise).
Role profiles are based off the characters they have been surgically modified to become seeing as their true designs haven't been revealed yet. In Benard's case, resemblance is very surface level but for Ian and Linda, they are very similar.

Role : Protagonist
Ian is the player character in Insectarium and has his fair share of dialogue. Applicants must keep in mind that they should only sign onto this job if they plan on staying with the projects for future chapters (i.e. years to come).
Ian is a man in his mid-30s. I am flexible on his accent, but don't stray too far from his background (stated above). He is a little bit of an ass, though he is generally friendly to those he knows. Your performance should reflect the very scary situation he faces. Ian is a tiny bit more expressive in his voice than the average person but in a very natural way.
The auditioner may choose what they feel is the best tone for the voice lines. This is mostly to allow the auditioner to show off their skills. Please note that audition results won't be all that based on how well you predicted the intended emotion since I will be providing direction.
Please link your demo reel and/or works you've been in. I'd appreciate a demo reel more, but if you truly don't have one, the other works will allow me to get a better idea of your acting skills. You can also share any further information or socials as long as it's pertinent to your work.

Don't try. I've made my decision and it's final
I swear I've seen your face before...
Are you really going to mess this all up because you're a little lonely?!
Role: Major
Benard is a major character in Insectarium Chapter 1. He does not physically appear in any future chapters, but will still have voice lines (meaning minor commitment after the initial recording of chapter 1)
Benard is a man in his early 60s of a mix of Franco-Ontarian and Quebecois descent. At the point of the game, he has already been trapped for almost 5 months. Therefore, his performance should reflect a bit of desperation and despair. Benard is a more traditionalist person and is only somewhat good at hiding things. He is normally a very calm and collected man, though what he's been through does make that a little bit more of an act. A good emotional range is required for the role. His default tone is calm but a little unnerving at times.

I should hope you remember me, I've only been missing for 5 months
I can't grow back my legs or nose, but it wouldn't be hard to turn me back into a normal man.
Don't pretend like you know what I've been through!
Linda Cohen is a woman in her mid 40s. The surgical procedures used to attach the extra set of legs to her body messed with her mind enough to render her animalistic. She appears beyond Chapter 1, but I can reuse the noises recorded (with your permission).
Normal voice lines (as in, dialogue), will also be needed much later on. But, if any issues arise from having to do those (you aren't great at doing regular voice lines, scheduling issues, etc), I can hire another person to do the dialogue. Of course, this is not the preferred option.
Try not to think of this role as an animal role, but rather as a human role. The vocal cords haven't changed, just the mind behind them. She should sound like she's both in physical and mental pain. Keep in mind that her mouth cannot close.
During your audition, please stay away from grunts. Mostly due to it being physically impossible for her to perform a grunt (for you need your mouth to be closed), but also because I want to see your creativity in creature noises.

(Your Choice)
As the soundtrack composer, you will compose the music of Insectarium Chapter. You are free to stay on the team if you feel inclined.
I will hand you the outline and anything else you might need to have an understanding of the game's story and the different parts. There are currently around 5 tracks needed, however that number may vary depending on what you perceive necessary.
Tracks may be subjected to change after completion if any changes in the game itself make it no longer viable. However, I should not ever need to have you completely overhaul a song, and I haven't made any major changes to the game in quite a long time so you should be fine.
Please link a few tracks you've made along with a demo reel if you have one. You can also share any further information or socials as long as it's pertinent to your work.
