"Darkest Hours" My Hero Academia: HWQ Animatic Episode

Project Overview

Hello! Light here and I’m looking for voice actors who are willing to bring these characters on this small episode animatic project to life! This is a BNHA OC project with some of my fan-made original characters I made and two canon Class 1A characters, being Denki Kaminari and Hanta Sero!

All auditions are appreciated! I can’t wait to see what‘cha got! :D

“Hope Within Quirks” is a fanmade MHA story series about a villainous crime case that has haunted Japan’s hero commission for 18 years and with the new expansion of hero students, the future is now left in the hands of luck and wit! Kiyoko Matsaki is a struggling adopted UA student who is ready to take on the world in hope for changing the future with the help of the chaotic hero class of UA High School: Class 1-A and the infamous Eraserhead! All goes well where she one day comes comes an infamous criminal investigation known as the “Matsaki Case”! When trying to uncover the truth of Japan’s secret villain case, turns out she’s not alone as the No. 8 of Japan’s Most Wanted, Yami Kokeshi is also stuck into this bizarre situation for another reason??

It was originally planned to be an animatic series instead but it was canceled due to inactivity, mental health and heavy life schedule during the pandemic. This is just a nice animatic short that hints at some future arc in the story. It's an episode animatic of the season.

EDIT: This project is now ready for official production for 2024 and voice actors is still in the search!

This original arc takes place during the Endeavor Agency Arc in Season 5 of the anime. When the Matsaki Siblings (Kiyoko and Yuri) and more of their classmates from Class 1A team up during the hero work studies on a villain case with the pro heroes, when civilians have mysteriously been disappearing. Meanwhile, the boys come to investigate the hiding place of the criminal at large when one of Hosu’s city factories has been facing issues of a mysterious “monster” that seems to be hiding there. When Kiyoko, the other students, and the pro heroes try to find answers, Yuri, Denki, and Sero decided to take the investigation into their own hands by trespassing onto the factory. Unfortunately, darkness reeks below when they realized there’s more lower levels of the factory… in which the Matsaki Case introduces a new villain, and despites his "plushified" hostages, he seems to be rather focused on looking for one person but them… and it seem like he has some special guests coming his way… and luckily, he isn't alone.

  • Two More VAs Needed!

    Hello! Light here back to retrieve back more of this project! ✨

    As I work hard to animate more of this fan episode of an animatic [with me now free of school to draw and anime freely til I prepare for college], I stay patient as the rest of the VAs to finish up voice lines with no current rush at all as I work hard on this almost 20 minute project! [Most of the episode has a tons of scenes done with mostly Kiyoko and Yami scenes thanks to my current best friend known as storyboarding!] ahem I’ll reveal some new stuff to the Discord Server in October, VAs! wink wink

    However, I am still in need of two more VAs to voice act Denki Kaminari and Sero Hanta as my script still is in need of two spots left! If interested, please hop by and give it a shot! ^^

    Right now, the spots’ are still open and I wish to see ya in the dark factory where the villains lies! Kidding!… Unless… 👀👀

  • Surgery Recovery + Project Extended til Mid December

    So update on my October jaw surgery, the procedure has been done and was sucessful and I'm currently still in recovery along with my very limited food options and some mouth pain. Since I'm currently still trying to heal along with trying to catch up with some work and school on the weeks I've out for, the project sadly is to be extended til December 15th (since around that time, I'll be more free and in much better condition to continue the project.) I really hope to continue working on this project as soon as possible (since the script is done along with the storyboarding) as December rolls around in time for the holidays. I'll come back around here to continue viewing any new auditions and also, giving some feedback. I hope you understand this decision and thank you for reading this!

  • Deadline extended by 2 weeks!

    Hello! Light here and I am here to update that the casting call has been extended by two week due to a medical emergency + recovery on Oct 28th. An upcoming surgery in which I will be in recovery for at least two weeks at best (if all goes well!). The animatic will still be worked on before that arriving day with the short clip of the project updating soon!

    Heyo! Light here with a small update to say that with my script and storybaording, I completely forgot to add and put Kiyoko Matsaki for a minor role! Also with small updates, I will soon add a short clip/sneak peek of the animatic next week! Please and thank you! :)

In My Hero Academia: HWQ also known as Hope Within Quirks, Yami Kokeshi plays as one of Season 5's major antagonist (secretly  second main character) and major focus as a villain character, being a mysterious, strange and calmly reserved teenager. His goal is to find his old childhood friend during the events of the Matsaki Case (This girl being confirmed to be Yuri's sister and the protagonist, Kiyoko Matsaki who he met at a young age). Due to being one of the youngest kids apart of Japan's well-known affluent and prestigious branch, the Kokeshi Family, he still acts rather formal for his age but now with most of his emotional and mental health destroyed by the abuse of his family, he can be quite sadistic to those who attempt to get in his way and rather delusional. He works alongside Shiroi (Another major villain OC) in this short as they made a deal for Shiroi to get vengeance on Class 1A. In returned, Yami is promised assistance to find his "doll". (Referring to Kiyoko) No matter what it takes…

His Quirk: "Dollification" 

This ranks as a mutation quirk in which some of his physical appearance resemble one to a voodoo doll, but he has sharp thread control he can create from the tips of his fingers along with the ability to turn other people into powerless sentient dolls.

No doubt... That is definitely her. To the biggest surprise? How she has to risk her own life to make sure her companion is safe. Matsaki has changed a lot. How... H-how marvelous."*politely but serious as desires take over* "See? I am willing to let you and your classmates leave alive with every single limb and we could simply forget this ever happened... However, in return. You hand your sister over to me... Does that not sound rather more pleasing? I am willing to spare you and your friends' lives and return that I get what I want. A simple form of gratitude upon you to sparing your life. A fair price to spare more lives than just one of them... Now, hand over my doll to me and maybe we can put this aside..."

Seems like UA's little prodigy can't continue fighting... that is such a shame. Shiroi Matsaki

Shiroi plays as one of the other major antagonists of the story having to reveal herself in the end of season 4. She is a very devoted elderly woman who is trying to retrieve the honor of the broken Matsaki family but with the failure of the heroes, she went to the side of villainous actions. She also has a white snake named Haru that is one of her closest companions. She is a woman of strict behavior and focus. She teams up with Yami after they settled over a deal to get back at class 1A after the events in their last fight. Though… she had other plans for him in terms of keeping him away from something…

Her Quirk: "Stone Sight" 

She constantly has her eyes closed but she can perfectly see well due to the guidance of Haru, a white Japanese snake. While she can open them and see, if certain, she can petrify those she has her eyes and turn them to stone for temporary time

You have the gall to talk to me like I can just forget who started this mess?! We went down this path of violence because of you! You never once cared for the lives you have affected! The Kokeshi Family, Kazuya, your son.... *anger* And your daughter. The same UA student in which your actions impacted her life that you gave her up and lie to your family and at worst, my son! ... And poor girl doesn't even who we're supposed to be to her. Her family... and thanks to you, her life is one to the heroes and UA, a life that is full of danger. And you call yourself a mother and show no care at all?"

Yuri Mitsune

Yuri Mitsune is the UA Child Prodigy student of HWQ, being just a bit younger than most of the students. He is also Kiyoko Matsaki's younger brother, having to change his surname due to wanting to cut all ties of connections to his parents. While smart and serious, he is quite childish at times and at most, has a very uptight, rude and easily annoyed personality! However under it, he was a very protective person to those he cares for. His voice is kinda to either gender as it resembles a kid voice, flexing to either.

In the animatic, Yuri was forced to go with Denki and Sero to investigate the factory, despites his many warnings that this is a bad idea! Eventually, he was dragged by Sero's tape quirk and came along anyways! However, with that in the elevator of the factory, he holds his bitter judgement aside and with it, plans to find ways to get back the first floor... At best, if Denki and Sero are right? Then best to find the villain hiding there below with them... 

So if you're voicing Yuri, prepare to yell a lot! XD

His Quirk(s): Puppeteer/???

He can create red threads from his fingers that are able to throw, capture and control a target. When the strings are attached to the limbs of a target, he is able to control their body movement along with the flexibility of their quirk. (if target has one!)

Most of Bakusquad plays a major factors in this story AU, and most of them have found out about the Matsaki Case. Denki Kaminari and Hanta Sero, however were the first to find out. Not only is he is willing to help those he cares about like his class, he makes it clear to assist them and at best, help the siblings with yhis mystery along with the othet students who found out about it! Denki may not be the brightest in the anime, manga or here, but he has a spark and determined trait that will do his best to help his classmates!

Most of Bakusquad plays a major factors in this story AU, and most of them have found out about the Matsaki Case. Denki Kaminari and Hanta Sero, however were the first to find out. to help his classmates! Hanta Sero plays high ambitions as he, Yuri and Denki are trapped below. This is only his second time he's been involved in this case but don't worry! Having high determination, Sero will do his best to see what he can do to help as they try to find an escape route out the factory's lower floors.

Kiyoko Matsaki (while playing a somewhat minor role in the animatic) is Yuri's older sister and in the main story, is the protagonist of HWQ. She is an energetic teen with a generous and curious personality! She however suffer childhood anmesia and at a young age, and in story, tries to solve out the mystery of the Matsaki Case and hide the truth hidden in its corrupted Hero Society. She is also the person Yami Kokeshi is going after...

  • *confused but focused* "The Kokeshi Incident...? Hmmm where did I hear that surname before. I've not the best at remembering other branches that isn't pro-hero related. This is quite new. Nice catch, Yuri! You really are a good at researching stuff.*annoyed/upset* "I can't believe these idiots just went off, found a villain and decided to investigate themselves without telling us or a professional. What kind of plan is that?! Ugghh... Yuri, for the love of the gods, you, Sero and Kami better be okay or I swear..."*terrified but tries to be brave* "W-wow...... There are t-tons of dolls here...
