He Vanished Below Audio Drama
Project Overview
Beneath the town of Oak Hollow are drainage tunnels – ones that lead to hell. That’s what the legend says, at least. When three friends venture in to see for themselves, only two come out again.
It’s been eleven years since Kevin Haines vanished that night without a trace. The cold case takes a twist when his remains are found. He was murdered. Now, his two remaining friends, Jack and Drew, must face the past and the twisted secrets of the town. But just how deep do these secrets go?
NOTE: Even though some of the characters are young teens, we'd like 18+ actors who can do younger-sounding voices. The script is not graphic or anything like that--just for simplicity's sake.

Male - 40s-50s - Chief of police who should make your blood boil. He is cocky and enjoys throwing his weight around...very much “big fish in small pond” mentality. He puts on the “good old boy” facade, although this facade is transparent as a pane of glass.

(a little smarmy) Well, if isn’t Jack Anderson. Haven’t seen you around Oak Hollow in a long time. I thought maybe you decided you were too good for us.
It's CHIEF Granger now. (nods to DREW) Drew.
(smiles unpleasantly) Well, I'll let you both enjoy your lunch. I'll be seeing ya.
Male - Early 30s - There is one scene where he is in his late teens/early 20s. Tom is the brother of Kevin, the missing teen. This character has a considerable range. He is initially introduced as a rather condescending goth. Older Tom is portrayed as a pleasant, all-around nice guy who has been hit hard by the tragedy in his family.

(Younger Tom) Yeah, you're not just going to sit around here all night, are you?
(Older Tom, condescending) You're so close-minded. You just can't see anything beyond your own limited imagination. Like most people.
This whole thing killed dad. He was always into drinking, but this made it 10 times worse.
Susie is the type of person who describes herself as “quirky” and a “nerd” and is into ghost hunting, haunt acting, etc. She also probably likes used bookstores. Mostly, she is friendly and talkative. However, actor also must also be able to play a convincingly creepy scene.
- female adult
(calls out) Hey! Hey you!
(a little breathless) Sorry if I startled you. You looked a little spaced out there.
(telling a ghost story in creepy, unsettling way) Mr. Bancroft was known to keep the company of mediums and spiritualists. It was said he wanted to provide a home for lost souls to live. Even now, if you walk past at certain times of night, you will see orange lights drifting past the windows. Maybe it's spirits who, despite having a place to haunt, are still restless.
Male - 15/16 - Kevin comes off as nervous and timid. He is not a popular kid and is ultimately a
follower, pretty much letting his friends Jack and Drew take the lead in everything.
- male young adult
How are we going to find our way back?
(terrified) What’s that?!
Wait! Did you hear that?
Male or Female - 40s+ - Jack’s psychologist, who is warm and has a soothing presence.

So, Jack, are you all right? Something seems wrong.
Oh, my. I'm so sorry, Jack. That must be really difficult.
I ... don't remember you mentioning anything about this before.
Male or female - 40+ - A very snarky, sarcastic librarian who likes working with books and files, but definitely not people.

Film? In case you haven't noticed, this is the twenty-first century. It's all been digitized.
They're all on the computers. I assume you know what a computer is?
Indeed. Now, I'm in the middle of reorganizing our system, is there anything else, sir?
