Final wave of casting!
Thank you for all who have auditioned for this project! Production is underway, but we are still casting our last major role with her own questline: Tadhla
Looking forward to hearing everyone's takes on this character!
For those that love Genshin Impact and love its story...even the unvoiced parts...this project is for you! We can provide the voices so everyone else can enjoy world quests too!!
There are multiple great world quests to choose from and I'd like to start with this ambitious quest series featuring Jeht because it's one of my favorites. If this does well and if there's interest, we can move on to dub other world quests as well!
Videos will be published on YouTube as 18 individual parts of these multiple quest series in order, starting with the Golden Slumber quest series.
Important Notes:
1) Please have clear audio quality and as little background noise/echo as possible (preferably none).
2) If you would like to audition with multiple takes, please do so in AABBCC format and limit to 1-2 takes.
3) No need to slate your auditions.
4) Please also provide your Discord as all the project work will be organized there.
5) Auditioning for multiple roles is encouraged! You may be cast for multiple roles, especially if you also apply to minor roles.
6) Deadline may be extended to allow for additional applicants if needed.
Thank you for all who have auditioned for this project! Production is underway, but we are still casting our last major role with her own questline: Tadhla
Looking forward to hearing everyone's takes on this character!
Thank you for all your auditions! Azaririq still needs a deep male voice and Tadhla still needs a young, mature female voice if you're looking for major roles in The Dirge of Bilqis or Tadhla the Falcon quests! There are also many minor roles still available if you would like the chance to be cast for multiple roles!
We've had some amazing auditions so far! Perhaps a little too many...and all for the same role! As such, some roles may still be under deliberation before we can cast. I highly encourage auditioning for minor roles as well--you may be casted for multiple roles!
A somewhat minor role, yet appearing in almost every part of this quest series, for times when cutscenes refuse to "show" and just "tell" instead. Lines ranging from a single sentence to a few paragraphs in length.
Looking for a mature voice, preferably female to contrast with Aether's voice, but will also consider a male whose voice is drastically different from the voice of the Aether that we cast.
Tirzad gets so worked up that the blood rushes to his head, causing him to faint...
You all speak about the interesting things you've heard about, as well as the hair-raising adventures you've been through. Some absolutely ridiculous hearsay is even mixed in... The three of you raise toasts to old triumphs, laugh at ridiculous tales, and shed tears and lament the sad stories. At the end, Azariq closes the proceedings with a joke, and he absolutely kills it.
As the shard of light merges with Liloupar's magic bottle, you feel a little of your own power being pulled away... Through the Jinni's entranced eyes, you see a ragged shepherd boy along with a dancing maiden, her presence resplendent like a limpid gem beneath the moon's gaze... Festering hatred assails your senses, before alchemizing into primal, burning love in a sudden instant... Such love cannot be contained by the vessel of a mortal. It is an emotion that can swallow one whole.
The "silent" protagonist of the game. Aether's personality can range from stoic, humble and helpful to boastful, lazy and short-tempered. There are instances of single speech options or similar options which give a glimpse at their personality overall. Aether does not appear to be very talkative, with several characters noting that they are not very fond of speaking or starting conversations.
There are some investigation portions we will cover which will have Aether reading or monologuing, making this role a bit larger.
If possible, try to imitate his English VA: Zach Aguilar
(interrogating) She's Paimon, and I'm your worst nightmare. What about you?
(reading a letter out loud) To My Teacher, Froderock Fronkonsteen: ...In summary, though the Tanit tribe is willing to negotiate with us and will lure a "traitor to the tribe" into a pre-arranged ambush, such that we may capture her... ...I recommend that we perform careful examinations of any experimental subjects we may obtain, just in case they try to pull some dirty tricks...
(investigating, internal dialogue) A smashed crate, with traces suggesting that it once contained something that was alive... But whatever it was, it is now free.
The best travel companion ever! Talking in place of the protagonist for the majority of the game, this is a very major role.
Overall, Paimon's personality is a delightful blend of cuteness, energy, curiosity, and loyalty, making her a beloved character.
If possible, try to imitate the English VA: Corina Boettger
Make sure you can sustain your Paimon voice for many, MANY lines. Absolutely fine to try a different take of Paimon's voice that isn't as...loud.
(concerned) It's Jeht. It's like... she's gone mad with fury...
How could you say that? Of course Paimon would never leave your side!
That means we've completed Bonifaz's commission, right? After all, he only asked us to confirm the safety of the archaeology team as well as that of the Sumpter Beasts...
Adventurer's Guild Receptionist. Relatively minor role, she provides Aether with the initial commissions that lead to these major quests.
If possible, try to imitate the English VA: Erica Mendez
Aether, Paimon, it's good to see you! I've got an urgent commission I'd like to give you two.
The Tanit are the tribe from which Jeht hails. Their campsite is in the depths of Deshret Desert, amidst the ruins of what was once the city of Gurabad. If you don't mind, I'll mark it out on your map.
You flatter me, Aether. In order to better serve adventurers, it is the duty of the Adventurers' Guild to provide such basic information whenever it is needed.
Arguably the real main character of this quest series. A major role, if not the biggest role. Warms up quickly to Aether and Paimon, but can be hotheaded and violent when betrayed.
Must be able to portray Jeht's full emotional range from heartbreaking sadness to bloodthirsty rage.
Also has a minor singing portion, so you must be comfortable with this. Feel free to be creative with the rhythm/pitch in your audition. You also don't need to sing the whole song, just enough to get a feel for your comfort level.
A similar vibe to this song sang in Hunger Games: https://youtu.be/vZPzZ_NEwEQ?si=h30jiTOGh3wvefx0&t=55
After casting, Jeht, Jebrael, and Ufairah will collaborate so that they're all singing the same version of the song.
Please also record these lines in addition to below (Jeht is such a major role with a really well-rounded personality, so we need more than just the below lines!):
(meeting Aether and Paimon for the first time and hearing about their commission from Bonifaz) "Bonifaz? That merchant from Mondstadt? I know him. So, you want to find the archaeological team, huh? Let me think... Oh, isn't that us? I'm Jeht. Tirzad... sort of hired me."
(relieved, then scolding) "Phew! Thank goodness Benben's alright... Seriously, stop rushing off so quickly! What if you got into trouble?"
(preparing to say goodbye to Aether and Paimon) "Uh... You know what? Actually, I'd love to go on more adventures with you... Haha, never mind that. You must've had enough of me after all the dangerous situations I put you in..."
(casually singing a peaceful lullaby-like song) O stars high above the wasteland; O nightingales weary from the day; It's time to take off the crown of roses; Cleanse yourself with wine made from grapes. Sleep, close your eyes; Yon golden slumber summons thee, wandering sand; Drink not that bitter salt water; For the sorrows of tomorrow have gone away.
(while holding back tears) I refuse to believe it! He always keeps his promises! He promised to tell me about my mother... All of you heard him! He wouldn't lie to me! He never lies to me! *sob*...
(aggressive, declaring her vengeance) Remember with your wounds and fears that I've inflicted! Jeht Ufairah Hindi! Remember this name! Come on! I want you all to remember, it is the owner of this name who destroyed the Tanit!
Like most Jinn, Liloupar is rather proud and only gives her allegiance to those whom she deems worthy. She takes Aether as her new master and, accordingly, holds the Eremites in low regard due to their attempts to use her for their own gain. Having previously had her soul split by King Deshret as punishment for the destruction she caused at Gurabad, she seeks to reclaim her fragments and restore her full power.
A major role, starting in The Dirge of Bilqis quest series, so we will have to get through the Golden Slumber first.
In my head, she has a mature, almost maternal voice similar to Cloud Retainer/Xianyun. But I am open to other interpretations of her voice.
"Jinn"? Why, yes, I do count as one. "Mother"? Hmm... Well, if it does not displease you, I have been such before. But "Mother of the Jinn"? Do those desert philistines wish to cajole me to laughter? I fear that this joke fails to amuse. It falls far short, in fact.
Once, a Jinni and a mortal king found themselves entwined in love, and from their union came children... But as time flowed, the mortal could not break the chains of power and ambition that clung to him, betraying the love of the Jinni... Hence, on the path of revenge, she twisted the fates of her children, wreathing them in a plot to unmake their father and kingdom...
Sister, you shed the form of a Jinni and constrained yourself to this husk for thousands of years. Is this the "survival" that you so desired to pursue?
Jeht's father. A major role in the Golden Slumber quest series.
Looking for a deep, paternal voice to match his hulking figure.
(scolding) If this is all you know about King Deshret, then you should have abandoned academia from the very beginning, because it's clear you won't get any results.
(bidding goodbye) Jeht, forgive me. You'll have to go on alone from now on... No, I'm sure you won't forgive me. After all, it's my first time breaking a promise to you. I hear the voices of many here. I think I hear Ufairah too. She's humming the song of her home. Oh... If only you could hear it too. Why couldn't I have told you a little more about her? Her soft curly hair... and that innocent smile of hers. I have so many things I want to share with you, but I'm no longer able to distinguish if they are my memories... or "our" memories... Sorry...
Jeht's mother. Minor role, a single appearance in letter form at the end of the Dirge of Bilqis quest series.
Looking for a mature, motherly voice.
To my dear Jeht, loveliest of daughters, A thousand hugs and kisses to you. May the unchanging moonlight grant you a thousand blessings, and may the blazing sun smile upon you alone! I imagine that you'd be a bright, beautiful young lady by the time you read this, hmm?
Haha! I know what you're thinking, you bad girl! You're thinking that you should read these words out loud so you can embarrass me, hmm? Be that as it may, I'd like you to see these hopes and blessings that I wrote down, and that I imagined a lovely, happy future for us. It does feel kind of strange if you think about it. I mean, this was supposed to be an academic notebook... But it ended up being full of my hopes and dreams for you. Is this how mothers are? So... sentimental?
(casually singing a peaceful lullaby-like song) O stars high above the wasteland; O nightingales weary from the day; It's time to take off the crown of roses; Cleanse yourself with wine made from grapes. Sleep, close your eyes; Yon golden slumber summons thee, wandering sand; Drink not that bitter salt water; For the sorrows of tomorrow have gone away.
A semi-major role beginning in the Dirge of Bilqis quest series.
Babel is the Matriarch of the Tanit tribe and makes decisions on the tribe's behalf. She took in Jeht after the girl sought out her father Jebrael's original tribe following the events of the Golden Slumber quest series, and showed Jeht a level of favoritism which she had never shown other members of the tribe. She greatly emphasizes that the Tanit are a "family" and as such, anyone whom she deems a "traitor" has thus turned against the family and must be eliminated — and Jeht, as a "half-outsider," is best suited for the task.
Looking for a mature voice that can range from maternal to an authoritative leader.
(cordial greeting briefly after sentencing a man to death) I'm terribly sorry that you had to see... that. I'm at fault. As the Matriarch of the Tanit, I'd like to make amends.
(stunned, to outraged) You're mad... How dare you slander me, your Matriarch! You've forgotten your mother's name! Silence — I bid you be silent now, before it is too late!
(dying words) You're... the foolish one... *cough* An outsider... You did all this, for an outsider! I... We're your real family! You've destroyed everything. You destroyed... the hopes of the Tanit... the hopes of all the tribes who wander... amidst the gilded sands!
A...minor(?) role throughout the Golden Slumber quest series.
Benben is a mysterious mechanical construct found in the ruins at Abdju Pit, which were part of King Deshret's ancient civilization. Unlike other Primal Constructs found within the ruins, it is not hostile to outsiders it encounters in the ruins, nor does it possess any visible combat accessories. It is even capable of rudimentary communication, though not in a verbally understandable form.
Literally the only word in its dialogue is "beep" but with varying emotional range. I fully expect everyone to say "beep" in their auditions unless you want to be creative with your sounds. Have fun with this one!
(trying to gently get the groups attention, basically "Hey...") Beep... Beep...
(basically "Yup, I can help. Watch!") Bee-eep. Beep!
(explaining what it was saying to a door...be creative) Beep... Beep-boop, beep, bee-eep! Beep beep... Beep!
Major antagonist that appears in the second half of the Golden Slumber quest series.
Samail was a member of the Eremites who used to live in the desert. Like Jebrael, he was originally part of the Tanit tribe. They were interested in the lost powers of King Deshret and forced researchers to help them find the King's throne. Following Jeht's birth, Jebrael began to regret his past actions and sought to leave Thutmose with his family. Unfortunately, this led to Samail murdering Ufairah, as he felt Ufairah's love for Jebrael was an "infection" who had made him "weak".
Looking for a mature, obviously antagonist voice that gives a crazed, delusional vibe.
Ha! I was wondering when you would get here, my dear Jebrael. And here you are, just as I expected, even without an invitation from me. Oh, how long has it been since we last spoke face-to-face?
Did you think betraying the Thutmose would be enough to deny your nature? Hah! I knew you would be back. Little Jeht, do you see it now? Once he laid eyes on Al-Ahmar's throne, your dear father forgot everything! Even you!
I'm not sad. I know what I want. My dream is to be one with the Thutmose. Yet you, the warmth of another... I despise such feelings. It makes you weak. Your betrayal was like a blade in my chest. But I obtained Al-Ahmar's wisdom, and that wound I thought would never heal is nothing but a memory now.
That's it! I'm... I'm laying you all off! There's a limit to how much bullying I'll take! *sob*
It's common practice to attempt to expel trespassing outsiders. If you want technical details, you'll have to wait until I return and ask some Kshahrewar experts...
...Fine! I'll do it for you. I know I can trust you two, Paimon, Aether. I'll trust you again.
Minor role. Bonifaz is a Mondstadt merchant that is the contact for the commission that Aether and Paimon accept that start the entire chain of events of the Golden Slumber quest series. They return to Bonifaz afterward to inform him of the completed commission.
My associate and I are both Mondstadters. We originally traveled to Sumeru City to trade in supplies, and only came here at the request of a researcher from the Akademiya.
Goodness gracious! Please excuse my rudeness! I never expected to meet a big hero in a place like this! And... And a little hero, too!
To think that something like that happened... Anemo Archon bless us all... *sigh* I'm really sorry about what happened to Jebrael. But at least all of you returned safely.
Minor role that appears throughout the Golden Slumber quest series. Nachtigal is Bonifaz's associate who accompanied Tirzad's expedition along with Jebrael and Jeht.
Mr. Tirzad, was the price not already agreed upon after our discussion? You even confirmed it yourself, so why are you telling a different story now?
I think you're being too stubborn. There's always a choice in life. I mean, just look at Bonifaz and I. We weren't born as traveling merchants, and no one in our families has even been to Sumeru... But we're still here with the northern wind at our backs. We don't regret our choice at all. Seeing the boundless world unfold before our eyes fills us with a sense of freedom.
I think we may have to reconsider our career as traveling merchants... The desert is a hundred times more dangerous than I expected... Even someone as capable as Jebrael...
Very minor role. 3-5 lines total. Also, he's drunk.
Th—Think you can mess with me and scam me?! *hic*
J—Jebrael, you useless dolt! How long have we been going? You know... only to get stuck...
Who are you? *hic* Thanks, but I'll pass. I can't manage another sip.
Very minor role. 2-4 lines total. Gives off a cold, uninviting vibe.
Did you guys...also fall down here?
The desert's no place for outsiders. If you have a way back, I suggest you take it as soon as possible.
Very minor role. 1-3 lines total. Also, he's unwell.
(experiencing discomfort) Uh...
(experiencing discomfort) *whimper*
Very minor role. 2-3 lines total.
Looking for a gruff ruffian type of voice.
Who are you? Hah! The researcher and the traitor? Good! Give us the stuff Samail mentioned!
Hmph! Acting dumb won't save you! Take this!
What happened to Samail? None of you will leave this place alive!
Minor antagonist in the Dirge of Bilqis quest series.
Aderfi was a conniving merchant who constantly deceived others for his own gain. When he colluded with the Fatui, he would frequently trick them into obtaining whatever he wanted while intentionally avoiding to acquire whatever they requested for.
(suspicious of outsiders) Jeht? Yes... she's here. Why are you looking for her?
Oh? Here to show off your new outsider friends?
(bargaining for his life) I... He... Wait, I'm really confused right now. Just give me a second to organize my thoughts, please!
A major antagonist of the Dirge of Bilqis quest series.
Azariq is a member of the Tanit tribe; at some point, he became a trusted subordinate of Matriarch Babel. Azariq colluded with the Fatui by helping Babel remove the other Tanit elders without much issue. He accompanies you and Jeht as an ally and seemingly close friend.
Looking for a deep, masculine voice capable of fostering trust until his sudden but inevitable betrayal.
(joke complaining) Hah. Is that how you talk to your elders, little wildcat? Have you forgotten your actual business here? Or about how someone's been waiting for you for half a day?
(attempting to lighten the mood) Alright, weird-story-time's over! Let's talk about something more relaxing. By the way, Aether, do you play cards?
(attempting to convince Jeht to join his side) As I said, I do this for the Tanit. The Mother of the Jinn will be an invaluable asset in our hands, while in the hands of this outsider, she's nothing but a toy — a trinket. Think about it! If we possess her power, we'll be able to recreate verdant oases in the desert again. Hasn't that been Matriarch Babel's pursuit this whole time?
Very minor antagonists. Looking for at least 2-3 voice actors to play multiple Fatui Skirmishers.
(after hearing someone call out) Hmm? Did you hear anything?
(attempting to avoid a fight) Uh... It's a long story, if you would...
(complaining) Ah, great! First it was eating sand everywhere, then it was escorting that living nightmare, and now it's you guys!? What other "little surprises" have you got for me!? Ugh, that does it! I've had enough!
Minor antagonist. Single appearance in the Dirge of Bilqis quest series.
Originally a Jinni who served Nabu Malikata, she switched allegiances to King Deshret after her mistress' death and chose to house her soul inside a machine on top of Deshret's Glass Goblet to safeguard the Orchard of Pairidaeza, where Nabu Malikata is said to have been laid to rest.
Looking for a mature voice fitting a powerful Jinni that has lived for centuries.
(cold, recognizing a traitor) ...You. The destroyer of Gurabad, the Mother of the Despicable.
(in pain) Ugh... Agh... Ahh...! The shackles... they tighten... Leave! Leave now!
(dying words) You broke this shell... My spirit and form... shall soon vanish with it also... Folly... Just like some mere mortal... Why... What kind of desire... Did you hold... The empty tomb... It will crumble... Just like me... and just like you, who are not whole...
Masseira was an elder of the Tanit tribe. He had a daughter named Tadhla who he was training to become one of the tribe's Falcons. When she failed to return from a trip, Masseira asked the Traveler to find her, eventually discovering her captured by the Fatui. He was disappointed in his daughter's inability to focus, but nonetheless continued with her coming-of-age ceremony by hunting three Consecrated Beasts across the desert.
Looking for a voice that can convey a superficial friendly tone to Aether, while also being able to be a disapproving father to Tadhla.
Hehe. Anyway, if you don't mind a little advice... You look like a real killer, that you do. But "companions"? Those will prove to be your undoing... Your fatal weakness.
Ah, Aether, esteemed Master of the Jinni. To what do I owe the pleasure?
(disapproving) You should've been the ambusher. Being attacked by the prey. What a shame for a Falcon.
Minor role. A single appearance at the beginning of the Dirge of Bilqis quest series. A Tanit tribe scout.
(after being mistaken for a bandit) Bandits? How rude! I am Mendas, a scout! And this is Hugeweh.
(inviting, followed by a warning) Jeht isn't back yet, but Aderfi, Masseira, and Yuften are in at the moment. They're pretty friendly to outsiders. Don't hesitate to seek them out... But if you dare deceive us, you will find us quite unfriendly indeed.
Matriarch Babel, Azariq has sent me to deliver a message to you.
Minor role with a few appearances in both the Dirge of Bilqis and Her Foes Rage Like Great Waters... quest series. Tanit crocodile farmer who speaks slowly and with a stutter.
Oh, you mean the way I t—talk, right? Haha... I'm used t—to it, and I hope you will be, too. Speaking a little slower makes your train of th—thought all the clearer.
I contracted an outside party to sh—ship us some Anahitian Blessing, b—but a l—long time has p—passed and it's s—still not here...
(pleading for his life) Y-Y-You! S-S-Stop there! N-N-No! S-S-Stop!
Minor role. 3 lines total. All of which are spent pleading for his life. Single appearance at the start of the Dirge of Bilqis quest series.
B—But... I don't know what those outsiders wanted... It's not my fault! Please let me explain, Matriarch Babel...
Please... Please! Give me one more chance, Matriarch... My Lady! I will prove my loyalty to the Tanit... Please believe me... I would gladly offer my life...
...! No, please don't...
Minor role. A single appearance in the Rejoice With Me, for What Was Lost Is Now Found quest. After being beaten in battle, all lines are delivered under duress.
(on edge) You're not Aderfi. Who are you?
(after being threatened) Y—Yes, I'll tell you everything! Anything you want to know!
(explaining under duress) We were asked to investigate the current situation of various desert tribes. After infiltrating them through making business offers, we aimed to attract the Sages' attention... and ultimately work to the benefit of the Lord Harbinger in Sumeru City.
A major character in her own minor quest series that takes place in between the Dirge of Bilqis and Her Foes Rage Like Great Waters... respective quest series.
Tadhla was the daughter of Masseira, trained to become a Falcon of the tribe.
She is a very straightforward, serious talker who never had the opportunity to make friends due to her upbringing. Looking for a young, yet mature-sounding voice that can convey this.
(deadpan joke) I'm okay. I can still walk and find myself a decent place to die in peace.
I've always liked the desert at this time of the day. It's beautiful. It's my favorite sight. Only it is a shame that I never had the chance to watch the sunset with my friends.
(dying words) Please... do not... forget me!
A very minor role. 5-6 lines total. An Eremite Mercenary sent as an assassin.
(calling out to greet Aether and Paimon) Pardon me, but I beg you both to still your stride.
(quickly becoming more sinister) Jeht requested that you stay in the desert for a time... She commissioned us to come here and give you the "hospitality" you deserve. It would be cruel of you to disappoint her kindness.
(entering combat) We've also been commissioned to complete a task. You should empathize. Why must you make things so difficult?
A minor role with a single appearance. One of two Fatui guards that provide comic relief.
(being asked if code word "Gerardo" means anything to him) "Gerardo"? Nah. Is that the brand of the baby powder you use?
Hold on a sec... Yes, you asked about the password! Ah, I do have a vague impression. Lemme check the password list real quick...
Ding ding ding! You're out! Both of you!
A minor role with a single appearance. One of two Fatui guards that provide comic relief.
(hostile) Who are you? Password!
(confused) Huh? "Gerardo"? What is that? Sounds like some air freshener brand.
So, uh, sorry, friend. I can't let others know that I've used "Gerardo."
A minor antagonist with a single appearance sent along with Rezki to assassinate Jeht and Aether.
Uh-huh, I can tell you're doing pretty well, Jeht... That's why Rezki and I are both needed to deal with the two of you.
(bantering with Rezki) Oh, the little Jinni. I'm quite fond of her. Let's spare her.
(taunting during combat) You're so slow! Have you been injured?
A minor antagonist with a single appearance sent along with Nayram to assassinate Jeht and Aether.
(listing enemies to deal with) ...And there's also this little Jinni.
(during combat) Just give up! Why are you even bothering?
(dying words) Argh... Curses! I really shouldn't have... taken... this... job...
A minor role with a single appearance. A Fatui guard interrogated after being defeated in battle.
(providing his name under duress) O—Orest. Private Orest Snezhevich.
I—I really don't know anything... I just joined the desert expedition team, and I haven't even familiarized myself with the organization of our forces. You literally can't get anything out of me!
(traumatized) That girl named Jeht... She... she's a monster. They were going to bring her back in a cage... But she woke up and tore the cage apart, and then, the guy standing closest to her... Oh my, poor Jophery...
A very minor role with a single line. A Fatui guard.
A very obvious reference to Private Hudson in Aliens--try to mimic the delivery:Â https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsx2vdn7gpY
(after being defeated, hysteric) It's done, man! It's done! What should we do now?
