Fallout: Caesar

Fallout: Caesar

Project Overview

What is Fallout: Caesar?

Fallout: Caesar is a motion comic based in the Fallout universe. It will tell the story of Caesar's rise to power, from young missionary with the Followers of the Apocalypse, to the powerful ruler he becomes before his death. It will explore the relationships he forms during his life, his motivations to create his empire, and how he came to believe he was truly chosen to rule.

Our goal to is to turn Fallout: Caesar into a well known and truly memorable piece of Fallout fan lore. We hope to fill in what we believe is an important, but missing piece within the Fallout fandom. Comics.

What casting round is this?

This is our first casting call. We are creating a short trailer that sets up the stories to follow. We are looking for the two main characters first, Caesar himself (Edward Sallow) and The Burned Man (Joshua Graham). We are looking for actors who, not only sound similar to the original actors, but can portray the characters as well throughout various stages of their lives. Please listen to the audio samples provided in the YouTube Links in the character descriptions.

Additional rounds of casting for other characters will follow after we cast for the two main characters. Most other characters will not require sound-alike actors, and will leave more creative freedom for the actors chosen.

Expectations:

Because this is a paid casting call, high quality audio is expected. Any auditions with excessive background noise, poor quality recording equipment, untreated recording spaces, or generally do not match the requirements for the characters, will be rejected. If chosen, this may turn into a long-term paying job, so we expect you to treat your audition as such. Actors chosen for the roles will be expected to participate in a live directed recording session. You will record your audio during the session, and send the raw audio file to the director after the session is over. We will likely use Discord for the directing session, but are open to other video chat platforms. We use Discord as our main form of communication, though we are open to other forms of communication (email, CCC messages, etc.) if preferred.

Audition requirements:

Please record and upload your audition as .WAV, 44.1khz, 16bit. Your file should be named "YourName_CharacterName.wav" (for example: RandyVirden_BurnedMan.wav or RandyVirden_Ceasar.wav). There is no need to slate your audition. Please record only ONE take of each line. Your audition should be one audio file of all three lines, with some silence between each line. You may audition for more than one character, though we will likely not cast someone for more than one role. Please include your rates in a comment with your audition.

Caesar (pronounced Kai-zar) is the ruler of Caesar's Legion, a totalitarian dictatorship based on his own twisted interpretation of the Roman Legion. Caesar is 51 years old at the time of this scene. He is well educated, taking interest in history and philosophy as it benefits him and his ideals. He is brutal and strategic, but calm and collected. Though he was hot tempered in his youth, he is more controlled in his adulthood. He shows his anger though his commands, often ordering the torture and killing those that anger him. His presence is often described as intense and overwhelming. He was played by John Doman in Fallout: New Vegas. This role will be 333 words for this trailer.

  • [Your highest commander has failed you. This was an important task, and you bestowed it upon him with full confidence that he was more capable than any other man in your army. You are angry, but your anger is contained, as it always is.]

Tell me Legate, how many men do you need to overtake an army of fleeing profligates(praw-fluh-gets)? How many accommodations must I bestow upon you to complete such a simple task?

  • [A quick snap, interrupting your commander as he tries to use his religion to chastise you.]

Quote scripture to me again, and I'll have you crucified, you Bible thumping fool.

  • [This is a flashback sequence. Edward is 20 years old, and questioning what his true purpose is. He is hinting to Joshua that he believes missionary work is fruitless, and making a real difference will require a different approach. Please adjust your voice to reflect the younger age.]

Joshua...Do you think we could ever make a real difference?

Joshua Graham was Caesar's second-in-command and co-founder of Caesar's Legion. He is 56 years old at the time of this scene. He started life as a young Mormon missionary. After helping Caesar create his legion, his religious values deteriorated, and he became the monster known as the Malpais Legate, a menacing and brutal second-in-command. Though not as tactical or brilliant as Caesar, he was confident in his abilities as a commander. This, ultimately, led to his downfall. Overconfident, he led his army into a trap, and suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of the NCR. Ashamed, he returned to Caesar defeated, who had him set on fire and thrown into the Grand Canyon for his failure. Joshua Graham was played by Keith Szarabajka. This role will be 225 words for this trailer.

  • [This is a quote from the bible. Joshua is lecturing Caesar about his delusions of grandeur. However, he is careful to not make things worse, since he knows Caesar intends to kill him.]

"Pride go-eth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall."

  • [While Joshua is admitting his part in the failure, he refuses to see this failure as his alone. He calls Caesar "Edward" (his true name), as an attempt to remind him he is still just a man, and not a god. He knows what he is saying will not convince Caesar to change his mind, but he wants him to know that he refuses to cower to him. Even if Caesar kills him now, it will not erase Caesar's role in the failed attack on Hoover Damn.]

"Regardless of my contribution, this is also your failure Edward. You cannot deny this. If only your hubris would allow you to see it. That’s your weakness Edward, your delusion. You’re a child playing God. For an educated man, you’re as self-aware as the savages you rule over."

  • [This is during a flashback. Joshua is 25 years old in this scene. He found his friend Edward alone, away from the village, staring off in solemn contemplation. It appears Edward is questioning his purpose. Joshua tells him this as both a mentor, and a friend. Please adjust your delivery to fit the younger age.]

"I think we all have a purpose in the eyes of the lord, but it is up to us to fulfill it… I have no doubt that, in time, you’ll fulfill your purpose."
