Fallout 4 Quest Mod - "Mind Games" (Call #2)
Project Overview
Hi everyone! I’m looking for voice actors for a new story-driven quest mod for “Fallout 4”. I'm holding these casting calls in stages, filling different roles at each stage. For this second call, I am casting for a number of supporting and minor roles.
About Fallout 4 and Mind Games
“Fallout 4” is a role-playing game set in and around Boston, MA (aka the Commonwealth) during the year 2287, where communities are rebuilding 200 years after a nuclear apocalypse. “Mind Games” puts the player character in the role of a detective on the case of a missing person, which leads to a broader story that connects to the plot from the base game.
You can find an explanation of the mod and a clip of the first scene above. Voice talent in this scene are:
Joanna Roberts - https://www.castingcall.club/ngbvoice
Katelyn Harris - https://www.castingcall.club/Aiden-Dawn
The Roles
The characters I am currently casting are as follows. Please note that all characters have an American accent:
Supporting roles (max 200 to 300 lines):
- Larsen, male, 30s/40s - settlement security guard
- McCoy, male, ghoul* - settlement security guard
- Diamond City Security Guard, male, 30s/40s - city security guard - Boston accent
Minor roles:
- Frankie Fitzpatrick, male, 40s - mobster (23 lines)
- Unnamed mobster, male, 40s - mobster (6 lines)
- Magpie Mandy, female, 20s/30s - raider (31 lines)
- Two-Shot Tommy, male, ghoul* - raider (19 lines)
* = ghouls in Fallout are highly irradiated humans that have a trademark raspy voice. You can hear a couple of examples here:
- https://youtu.be/9ylpe28JQZQ?t=73 (more suited to McCoy)
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sr2ibqAb7P0 (more suited to Two-Shot Tommy)
Content Guidance
- No sexual content
- Frequent strong language
- Frequent references to violence and substance abuse
Compensation
The mod is a non-commercial fan project without funding, so I cannot offer anything close to industry rates. I value the talent and effort actors bring with them, so I’d like to offer something where I can, and I can budget for a flat $25 for the project for supporting roles. For the minor roles, I'm afraid I can't offer compensation but hopefully you'll be up for doing it for fun! I've included the line count for the minor roles so you know what you're getting into. I don't have exact line counts for the supporting roles but I imagine it'll be no more than 200 to 300 lines.
Payment ideally via paypal after you’ve accepted the role.
Requirements
- A good mic setup so that we can make the voices and the mod as a whole feel like part of the main game.
- No experience is necessary but clean recordings are really important.
The audition
For the audition itself, you don’t need to stick exactly to the lines. Feel free to change the words slightly if it feels right. You are very welcome to do more than one take, if you wish (either AABBCC or ABCABC - whichever you prefer).
I prefer to wait until the deadline before making any casting decisions, even if I think I've already found the perfect voice, so that everyone who wants to audition gets a chance to do so.
Working style
- No live voice-acting sessions, so you’ll be free to do the recordings as you want, but within specified timeframes (which I try to keep as flexible as possible so that we can work around your schedule).
- Please be prepared to do pick-ups / re-recordings if necessary.
- Ad-libbing is encouraged to a certain extent if it feels right for you, with the only caveat being that the lines of the other characters are fixed, so we’ll have to respect that in order for the dialogue to flow.
- You will not be expected to edit, cut or process the recordings that you send me, but they will need to be in a specific format to work in the game (that being 44100hz, 16-bit, mono WAV). Please note the format requirements only apply to the lines you send me after you have been cast. I've heard CCC handles mp3s better than it does WAVs, so please feel free to upload your auditions as mp3s.

With almost 500 auditions, I've been completely blown away by the amount of talented people who were interested in this little mod project of mine. Thank you so much for taking the time to audition. I've made my casting decisions, and with the sheer number of people who auditioned, I'm not going to be able to give feedback to everyone. Instead, I've just given feedback where I think I can offer something helpful. In a lot of cases, though, there's no feedback to give - it was just a case of trying to pick one actor from a lot of excellent auditions. I'll have another call for more roles soon, and I hope you'll take a look at that one too. Thanks again.

Deadline pushed back to October 23rd
Hi everyone. Thank you so much to everyone who's auditioned so far. The amount of talent on display is phenomenal and it's amazing that so many people are interested in the project. I was hoping to make my casting decisions this week but something has come up which means I'll be traveling this week and away from my computer (and the internet pretty much). As such, since I can't cast all week, I've decided to extend the deadline until I get back on October 23rd, so that anyone who still wants to audition can do so while I'm away. Apologies to those who've already auditioned for making you wait a bit longer. Thank you for your patience, and I hope to have my decisions made by October 23rd/24th. Thanks again.
Larsen is a gruff guard in charge of security at a settlement in the ruins of Boston. The job requires him to be tough and always alert but he likes to crack jokes and let his hair down when he can.
(After a gunfight that you've been dragged into because of the Player's presence. More sarcastic than annoyed. Definitely not angry.)
Well, you're barely here five seconds and the place is already a fucking warzone. Guess all the stories about you are true.
(A mobster that you were worried would attack you over the past few days finally made his move when Nick showed up. You have nothing against Nick, but he always has a knack of attracting trouble)
We knew he was holed up down the street. Asshole was scoping us out after he got kicked out of the vault. But I guess he blew his wad when he saw you, eh, Nick?
(In the middle of a fight, raising your voice over the gunshots. You're coming to Nick's aid, but you can't help pointing out that this fight is his fault)
You always gotta bring trouble with you, Nick!
McCoy is a ghoul and one of the security guards at a particular settlement. He's generally good-natured but his job requires him to be extremely wary of outsiders.
Ghouls in Fallout have a trademark raspy voice such as this: https://youtu.be/9ylpe28JQZQ?t=73
(The Player wants to get into your settlement but you're wary of an attack from a raider gang at any moment, so no-one is allowed in.)
Not gonna happen, pal. Just turn around and head on back to Diamond City.
(Nick: There something bothering you?)
Damn straight there is. We don't need any more problems around here. You got us in deep as it is.
(The Player has managed to bribe the raider gang away from your settlement. "Caps" refer to bottlecaps, which is the currency in the post-apocalypse)
So, someone who likes to throw their caps around, eh? How much you willing to pay to get in?
A security guard at a settlement built into the ruins of Fenway Park, Boston. Thinks he's getting paid too little for putting his neck on the line for the residents. Bostonian accent.
("Caps" refer to bottlecaps, the currency in the post-apocalypse)
(Player, in response to you complaining about security guard pay: "Sounds rough")
Damn straight it's rough. Posted outside the wall? By myself? Are they fucking kidding? If I'm heading out there, they oughta be pouring out the caps, you know? (You're liking the player) Glad someone gets it.
(Nick Valentine is a robot and there's always been a question in the city over whether he's actually a spy for the Institute, which creates the robots. You're unsure whether he is)
You know, I can't figure you out, Valentine. You on the up and up, or you just looking for another tin can for your Institute army?
(To a food vendor in the city. You're annoyed at how expensive the food is.)
You know, there oughta be a discount for us guards. Busting our asses all day.
(Nick Valentine is responsible for taking out most of your crew and costing you your base, when he went there to save a kidnapped woman. You were just planning on taking over a settlement to establish a new base, but lucky you - Nick just happened to show up)
Well, well, well. If it ain't Nicky Valentine. Two birds with one stone, eh, boys? So what brings you back to the Common? Tracking down another dame or you just lookin' to shoot up the place?
(Nick: Do I know you?)
Yeah, you know me. Just like you knew Dino and Skinny Malone before you bumped 'em off. We had a good thing going in that vault till you showed up.
(The player is a comic book superhero (cross between Batman and The Shadow), and has scared your crew away. You're alone, you're kind of afraid but you're trying to hide it. But you're not letting Nick and the player get away with what they've done to you)
I ain't scared of no costumed freak. You're going down, asshole.
50s style noir mobster. But an easily-scared incompetent one.
(Turns out the person your boss has told you and your fellow goons to ambush is a comic book superhero (cross between Batman and The Shadow). You've got your Tommy Gun trained on him but your palms are sweaty)
Holy shit. That's the Silver Shroud. He's the one who took down all 'em raiders at the hospital!
(The Silver Shroud has given you one chance to flee. You take it.)
You're on your own, Frankie. I'm outta here!
Unhinged, pyschopathic, machete-wielding raider boss
(You and your new lover, mobster Skinny Malone, have ambushed Nick Valentine, who killed most of Skinny's previous crew)
Oh, we're gonna gut you, Valentine! We're gonna gut you good for what you did to my Skinny!
(The player bribed you to kill Skinny, which you did because money matters more to you than a fling, but now the player says it was a trick and she's not giving you any money)
(Incredulous) What!?
(Remorse, turning to Skinny's body) Oh, Skinny...
(Enraged, turning back to the player) You. You're dead, you fucking bitch! You hear me? Get her!
Raider, and Magpie Mandy's second-in-command. You're the more level-headed of the two.
Ghouls in Fallout have a trademark raspy voice such as this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sr2ibqAb7P0
(Your gang knows that if you take over the nearby settlement built into a sewer, you'll have access to the sewer tunnels to get around the city)
(Nick: Well, you keep inviting trouble, it's going to pay you a visit.)
Not after we take over the sewer. Then we're gonna hit the vault and this whole place is ours.
(The person you're ambushing turns out to be a comic book hero (cross between Batman and The Shadow). You're not easily intimidated but this isn't what you were expecting)
Holy fuck! That's the Shroud. She's the one who took down Sinjin!
(pronounced Sin-Jinn)
