Educational Video - Coastal Communities
Project Overview
INTRODUCTION
Hello, everyone! This casting call is for an upcoming non-commercial, educational short video.
We are casting five (5) interviewee characters to speak briefly on the topic of Coastal Communities. The final product will be used internally as a teaching aide for various university-level Oceanography and Ocean Sciences programs.
All voice actors must be at least eighteen (18) years of age at the time of submission.
DEADLINES AND AUDITIONS
The deadline for auditions is Sunday, September 4th, 2022 at 5:00 PM EST. There are currently no plans to extend this deadline. Casting notifications will be sent out to selected voice actors within 48 hours. We need to receive all lines back from voice actors by August 10th.
Please include an email contact alongside your audition submission.
WHAT TO EXPECT
All payments will be made through Paypal within five (5) business days of the final receipt. Voice actors will be asked to sign a worldwide release, in perpetuity.
WHAT WE ASK OF YOU
- Have fun! We take pride in bringing together talents in different mediums to create something truly phenomenal, but none of it means anything if the people involved aren't passionate about their craft.
- Please submit clean recordings on prosumer mics (no air conditioners in the background, no fans). We don't mind performing noise reduction on your files, however, too much clean-up reduces the quality of your voice.
- Please don't add effects to your lines.
- Feel free to cut your lines to your best/favourite takes. Three is the gold standard. We have a few voice actors that would rather give us more takes, and that's okay, too.
- Please submit all requested materials via Casting Call Club. Please do not contact our staff through our website or social media contacts.

The trail along the coast had been neglected. It was going to disappear if nothing was done. We started talking and the decision was unanimous – we decided to explore ways to fix it up. People started volunteering. All of a sudden, we not only had our trail back, we also had a newfound community spirit. A big win for everyone.

“We grew up with the salt marsh. It was always there. But then, we learned it is threatened by climate change and land development. We met as a community and started doing work in the salt marsh, and education to protect it. That was a good start. But really, we could do with better government support too.”

“We could tell that the wharf was falling apart. That was a big issue. We held a community meeting and just about everyone who could show up, did. It spurred us on. We had to do something to save the wharf, and we did. We had a plan, and the government was onside, so we could work together.”

“We all knew that pollution going into the ocean was bad for our community. But knowing it and doing something were two different things. When we started planning to clean up the harbour, we found opportunities to tap into resources beyond our community. What was important to us was important to others. Now, we’re making progress."

“This climate issue is big stuff, and the temptation is to duck the issue, but really, there are things you can do as a community. We learned the truth of that saying that knowledge is power. We have a lot of knowledge here in the community. And we started really learning from others."
