Corellion - a feature-length sci fi audio drama
Project Overview
Introduction
Hello everyone, and welcome to the official casting call for Corellion! From the writer/creator of Fate (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64Q2jKWUNq4&t=1843s), comes a new high flying sci fi adventure. Corellion is a completely original feature-length audio drama, and pulls its inspiration from some of the most epic sci fi stories of all time, but with its own nautical-themed twist. Stylistically, think of the grandness of the Star Wars saga combined with the whimsy and nautical themes of Disney's Treasure Planet. Ultimately, Corellion is a story filled with adventure, heart, and discovering what it truly takes to achieve one's destiny.
We're currently casting for a variety of lead and supporting roles, and paying anywhere between $75-$150 per role for the project. See below for the individual breakdowns, references, etc.
Plot Overview
Brody came to the planet of Ixion a starving orphan boy. The peaceful planet - once populated by humble shipbuilders and fisherman - had suffered the same fate as nearly all of the galaxy: It had been conquered by the mighty Coalition, an evil power-hungry organization led by an equally evil (and charming) President.
Brody quickly found a father in Jarin Korliss, a salty sailor with a big heart, who raised him and taught him how to survive under harsh Coalition control. As Brody grew, he would often hear the people speak in revered whispers of the legendary hero Leon Corellion, a man who rose up against the Coalition many years ago, but was ultimately tragically defeated.
Now, with a new revolution beginning to brew, Brody must decide if he will continue to live out his life in resigned anonymity, or if he will listen to a call deep within himself to rise up, face his destiny, and fight for the freedom of the galaxy.
Deadlines and Auditions
The deadline for auditions is Saturday August 14. There are currently no plans to extend this deadline as we would like to start the recording process fairly soon. If selected, we will notify you one to two days after auditions close, and will be in touch regarding line submission due dates. Most likely, lines will be due no later than three weeks after the script has been sent. Of course, we are flexible, and willing to work with schedules on a case-by-case basis.
What to expect
Expect to be warmly greeted by an enthusiastic sci fi-lover of a director (me), and my equally enthusiastic producer. We will be communicating primarily via email, but feel free to let us know if there is a better method of communication for you. Upon being selected for the role, you will receive the script, and then we will be in touch to discuss whether you'd prefer to record the lines on your own (with a few rounds of pickups if necessary) or if you'd prefer to have a live-directed session.
What we ask of you
- First and foremost, have an absolute BLAST with the audition. We are very excited to share this story with you, and cannot wait to hear what you have to bring to it!
- AUDIO QUALITY is one of the biggest factors in our decision-making process. Please make sure your auditions accurately reflect your recording setup, and are free of any background noise, pops, hisses, etc. Feel free to do your usual post-processing for your audition, but for the final file we will ask for a raw WAV file.
- Please do not add any SFX, music, or voice-altering effects to your audition. We want to hear only your natural voice and nothing else. Gentle post-processing ie. EQ, compression, etc. is fine.
- Please NO SLATES, and try to limit your auditions to 2 takes maximum. If you do two takes, please record it in ABC ABC format. (Take 1: Line 1, 2, 3 - Take 2: Line 1, 2, 3).
That's all folks. Thanks so much for taking the time to audition! We cannot wait to listen!

Korliss is the adopted father of Brody. He is a veteran shipbuilder, and has spent years toiling away working under Coalition control on Ixion. Korliss dreams of freedom and sailing the seas on an actual ship instead of building starships for the Coalition, but he knows better than to voice these opinions. Personality-wise, Korliss is salty as they come. Despite his dreams, he knows his place and has accepted his life. He has all the wisdom of a life-long sailor and the mouth to match it. He's brash, genuine, and full of personality.
Note: Light singing required. (No need for a trained singer. Just need you to be able to carry a tune. He sings a bit of a sea shanty)
Accent: Looking for your typical pirate accent, but open to others if appropriate. References: Long John Silver in Treasure Planet, and Willem Dafoe in The Lighthouse. See below.

(To Brody) Took you in out of the goodness of me heart, I did! Showed ye how to wield a hammer, showed ye the right way to build a ship. Showed ye how to be a man! That’s what I did! And this is the thanks I get...
What were the songs they used to sing, Thomas? The ones in the days when the flame of rebellion burned bright as the dawn, and hope was a thing so close you could reach out and touch it? ...What were the songs? I’ve nearly forgotten them, Thomas.
Shut up, boy!! I said enough!!! Too long I’ve kept silent...Too long I’ve suffered. Aye, Overseer, I confess. It’s me you’re looking for, and I’ll be damned if I’m going to sit here and let this boy take credit for what actions were mine and mine alone.
Captain Adria Solaris and her crew were the only ones to ever escape Ixion. In her youth, she fought in the first revolution alongside Leon Corellion himself. She despises the Coalition, and now she and her crew lie in silent wait for the next revolution, and the right moment to strike. When she speaks, Adria's words carry the confidence and swagger that can only come from that of a seasoned professional. She is extremely efficient and no-nonsense, and her sharp tone indicates that she expects those around her to rise up to her standards.
Accent: UK accent preferred, but open to any. Reference: Emily Blunt in Edge of Tomorrow. See below

All hands on deck! Run out the main sails, Madam Orly, and thrusters at maximum. I want us off this rock and into quantum as soon as we damn well can!
We knew that there were still those like us out there across the galaxy. People who were willing to fight. So we laid out a plan...one that wouldn’t play out for many years to come.
Look, all that matters right now is getting this boat to quantum before the Coalition blows us out of the damned sky! Now, Mister Cutter, who is manning that console??
Born and raised on Ixion, O'Kane is a shipbuilder forced into building starships for the Coalition. Unlike Korliss, O'Kane makes no secret of his feelings toward the Coalition. He is fiery, passionate, and filled with years' worth of pent up frustration. He longs for revolution, and is looking for any excuse to rise up and fight for his planet's freedom.
NOTE: Singing required. He will sing a song similar in style to Home is Behind from Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. See Below.
Accent: Irish, Scottish, Yorkshire, or your typical pirate-sounding voice a la Korliss. These are just the ones we had in mind, but open to any accent if appropriate.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-D_b99I3FILook, all I’m saying is that I remember the days of working in the shipyard with me dad when I were not but a boy. Remember? Real ships! Ones with sails and rigging and masts that were made of wood! Come now, Korliss, if anyone remembers how it used to be, it'd be you.
I’ve had enough with scraping by and living out this pitiful existence the Coalition calls a life. I say enough is enough!!
*Sing 20 seconds of a song of your choice. If you can, sing Home is Behind from Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (video link above). If not, no worries. Just pick a song that best shows off your voice*
Home is behind the world ahead
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadow to the edge of night
Until the stars are all alight.
Mist and shadow
Cloud and shade
All shall fade
All shall fade
Hero of legend and leader of the first revolution. We experience his story through a series of flashbacks throughout the play. Corellion was the first to rise up against the Coalition. He assembled a crew, a ship, and a league of followers who rose up and fought alongside him, but he was ultimately tragically defeated. Now, it is considered treasonous to even speak his name. Corellion is brave, genuine, kind, and fiercely loyal to those he loves. He would gladly give his life for the freedom of his people.
Accent: Standard North American
(Recording a ship's log) Crossing checkpoint D at 0-900 hours. We’re maintaining a steady speed of four thousand knots. No changes to report. Should reach checkpoint E in about three hours or so.
(Speaking to his young son) Listen, son...Being a Captain is not always an adventurous life. Sometimes you have to make really tough decisions. There may even come a time when you have to make sacrifices for the good of the ship, and for the good of the crew. People aren’t always going to agree with you or understand why you do the things you do...But as Captain, this is the responsibility you accept.
You all knew this day might come. No one gets on this bridge. You hear me? No one gets through! Open fire!!
